Broken RH HTML 7 project

I'm using RH HTML 7.0.3 on Windows XP Pro, SP3. Two
disturbing symptoms have suddenly begun to occur, only within the
last week.
Symptom 1: In only one project, my compiled CHM file no
longer displays browse sequences. Nothing relevant in the project
has changed (for example, the windows definition correctly
specifies that browse sequences be displayed) as far as I know.
Other CHM files in other projects that were compiled over a week
ago and earlier all display browse sequences (the HHActiveX.dll
file is installed). Browse sequences in the broken project CHM file
are displayed neither on my PC nor on other PCs.
Symptom 2: Another problem has begun to occur within the same
time frame (within the past week): when I click any TOC book or any
TOC topic in the CHM file, the following HTML Help Author Message
appears: "The window name "<name>" passed to HH_GET_WIN_TYPE
has not been specified." But it HAS been specified, and correctly.
(I've even checked all the XML project files.) Other CHM files that
were compiled over a week ago and earlier do not evoke this author
message. The HTML Help Author Message appears only on my PC (where
RH is installed)—it does not appear on other PCs (where RH is
not installed), and it appears only in the CHM that I'm currently
working on. (I should add that I've deleted all my RH Window
definitions and created new ones, but this has not changed the
behavior.)
One other odd symptom that I suspect might be relevant: after
I compile the CHM, the following three files appear in the top
level folder of the project: ~$<projectname>.BRS,
~$<projectname>.hhc, and ~$<projectname>.hhk
Does anyone have an idea what might be causing these two
symptoms? or where to start looking in order to fix the
problem?

Colum, thank you for your reply. The Browse Sequence check
box is selected in all cases. And I did delete and recreate the
three layouts that I need. Everything in the RH interface windows
is filled out properly.
I have managed to resolve the problem described in my
"Symptom 2" paragraph. I found code in the xml project files where
the Window was defined incorrectly. In the RH interface windows,
everything was defined correctly, but for some reason the xml
project files were not getting updated. When I manually edited the
xml project files, replacing the incorrect Window definitions with
the correct one (as it is in the RH interface), everything came
right, and the annoying errors disappeared.
I stilll do not understand what broke this RH project, and I
am still looking for something in the xml project files that
controls the display of browsing sequences.

Buttons not working when I publish my HTML 5 project and play in LMS

When creating an HTML 5 project in Captivate 8, my project plays fine when i preview in web browser, but when i upload to my LMS the project won't autoplay and the buttons don't work. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas how to fix it?

I can partially answer my own question (if anyone is having the same issue): I disabled the sound click on the buttons and also deselected "Hide Selection rectangle for slide items in HTML5." I'm not sure which provided the fix (or if it is a combination of both) but the buttons now function the way I want (Note: this is a responsive project).
I still can't get the course to auto play. I wonder if that is an LMS thing because it autoplays when I preview the project in browser...

It means that iDVD has found a problem with one of the movies added to the project. Did you edit the movie after it had been added to the project.
Create a new project and add your assets, movies, slides, etc. again and follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

Search functionality no longer works in any of my recently generated HTML Help projects

I'm using Rh 10.0.1.292 and Rh 11.0.4.291 for different projects.
Recently, I've noticed that the Search feature returns no results, in any of my projects that are generated in either Rh10 or 11. I just get the "No topics found" message. This used to work.
The only thing that has been done recently (that I can think of) involved working with .slp files to fix an issue with the Glossary tab and the Search functionality in a Rh 11 Responsive HTML5 layout. (https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1690579) I can't, however, see how that would break the Search functionality in my HTML projects.
Any ideas?

In either Rh 10 and 11, whenever I generated a project as HTML Help (even an example project) the Search functionality was broken. Finally, when I couldn't think of what else to try, I uninstalled and reinstalled Rh 10, and that solved my problem--in both Rh 10 and 11!
Apparently some file was corrupted, but I don't know what was broken or what caused the corruption. I am still trying to get some clarification from Adobe, but so far, I have only received the following comments:
The robohelp cache folder and the preferences might have caused this.
The problem can be either with the updates on system.
If I should receive any definitive information, I will update this post.

Table with slices from FW broken in HTML 4.01 strict

I posted a version of this earlier on the FW forum but
received to response. My apologies if this is a double for some of
you.
I have a nav/title bar created in FW MX2004 that has been
working fine inside of pages with both XHMTL 1.0 transitional
XHTML_trans
and HTML 4.01 transitional
HTML_trans
declarations. However, I'm attempting to create new pages with an
HTML 4.01 strict declaration and the table is breaking apart.
HTML_strict
(NOTE - Yes, I know that other things on these pages are
broken, especially for IE. That's why I decided to choose a strict
standard and begin trying to clean things up.)
I've done some reading and it seems as though this is
probably due to the transitional declarations putting some (all?)
of the browsers into "Almost Standards" mode thereby affecting
tables that utilize slices.
Although I had intended to post and ask about ways to fix
this, I've come to a couple of conclusions but I'd like some
further confirmation...
1) It would be better to do these rollovers with CSS rather
than JavaScript;
2) All of my nifty little glowing word buttons are coming out
of FW as images and it would be better for the search engines to
see actual text. (Not sure how the alt text compares against link
text as far as SEO is concerned.)
3) If #1 and #2 are correct I probably have to rebuild the
whole dang thing...

them.
The first page you linked has no doctype, and is therefore
rendered in
quirks mode.

Can RH let me insert a custom/personal icon for my published HTML Help project?

Just wondering if there's a setting inside of RH8 for setting
the icon in the browser URL bar?
(for example, there's a little red and white icon with barely visible "Adobe" in the browser address bar above...or facebook has the blue square with the white f in it). What if I have a fave icon; how do I associate it with my help project (rather than the blue e ...)

My Robohelp html 8 project won't open after one warning and error message

I'm currently using Robohelp HTML 8 and when I open my project I first get the following message:

Unless I'm mistaken, K would be a network drive, no?
Unfortunately RoboHelp is only one of a host of applications that doesn't fare well if you try to make edits to a project while it resides on a network drive.
Try copying the project to your local C drive. Perhaps create a folder named Projects and copy your project to a folder named Primo Intranet inside that folder so it looks like this:
C:\Projects\Primo Intranet
Once you do this, try opening your project again and you will likely have better luck.

Folders in an HTML X5 project

I'm trying to create some order to the 700 topics by creating
folders under HTML Files and moving topics out of the top level
folder and into the lower ones (for example Sample_Code). Well, I
decided to rename a folder (right-click rename), but RH created an
(empty) folder with the new name. It appears as a subfolder of the
Top Level Folder in the drop-down list but it is empty. The problem
is, I can't find this new folder anywhere (even as a subfolder of
anything in the Project view). I have "lost" it and wonder how I
can find it so I can move topics into it and delete the old name (I
cannot rename the old folder because RH says I already have one
with that name.
In fact, I don't see any way to delete a folder from the
project view. Any ideas?

You might look at the View menu and see if "Empty Folders" is
enabled. But I'm guessing you will find it is.
Odds are you have the project on a network location. Creating
a folder and immediately losing it as you have reported is a
classic red flag for us here to suggest your project is on a
network. Assuming that's the case, you should strongly consider
moving the project to your local C drive before worse things
happen.

Cannot get simple merged HTML Help project going with context sensitive help

I have built a very simple project in RH9 from scratch, consisting of a main project and a sub-project now after I have modified our large project in changing every hyphens from file and directory names over a couple of days now only to see that context help still doesn't work.
The map IDs are not visible in the main project. To test it in the example, invoke the CSH-Test (context sensitive help test) from the Toolbox, enter !SSL!\Microsoft_HTML_Help\main.chm in the Offline field and a number 57 in the ID field. In our large project I'm getting nothing (no window pops up). In this example I'm getting this mystical error box, saying HH_HELP_CONTEXT called without a [MAP] section.

thanks having a look at my problem. I read in another thread today a description which comes close to the problem I'm facing.
Maybe I formed the mini sample not exactly as our problem is situated. (thus the doubled map ids you were claiming).
I will try to explain again: we have a couple of CHMs in separate single help projects. These go into their own TOCs, Index Glossar etc. like in sub1->Einzel. For the merged project we produce a chm that goes into the directory of the master (main) project, like in sub1->Primäres Layout.
Each Topic in the sub project (e.g. sub1->Erstes Thema) has a symbolic link address (e.g. "Linkadresse=det_org_angaben), which is mapped to the MAP ID via the .h file.
This all used to work that way in RH5.
Now it seems that this information between the map ID and the symbolic Linkaddress gets lost with the merge process.
I am not using the same ID (57) twice in my example. The MAP ID in the main project comes from the sub1 project (see the yellow locked MAP ID).
The simplest test is using the CSH-Test in the Toolbox giving the main.chm as the Helpfile to test and enter the 57 as a MAP ID.
The idea behind is to use one CHM later to have to open in the application. The other CHMs of the subprojects only need to be present in the application directory. Then you invoke HtmlHelp(with the MAPID),like I posted in this thread.
The method you are suggesting in mapping the ID to the topic in the main project will not work since the topic is in the CHM of the sub project.
I modified the sample project once again (somehow the baggage files were not showing) to come closer to the constellation we are using in the large project, though I'm getting the "HH_HELP_CONTEXT called without a [MAP] section" error (which does not occur in our large project).

We can use Email and Phone types in Visual Studio Lightswitch 2013/2012, etc. If you got error message using Email and Phone types, you need check whether this issue is related to your VS environment, and repair your VS first, perhaps it will

HTML Email Project

I am needing to create a polished html email and then be able to send it out via Outlook. Similar to sending a mail merge in publisher but much more polished and html friendly. Does anyone have any suggestions on what programs that Adobe offers might help with that or any suggestions on the best way to get this accomplished? I really appreciate the help!!

changes suggested by the validator including removing the
"language" attribute from the JavaScript tag. It also didn't seem
to like <td border="0"> so I stripped all of those out of
there. The latter created problems with FireFox, however, wrapping
all of the link images in the the default link color.
In any case, I'd appreciate any input. Pertinent code appears
below.

Of course. The solution was painfully obvious: don't use the JSP tags but use the generated HTML. Then cut out the COMMENT and UNEMBED tags. Duh. Sorry about that.

Broken Link to iDVD Project File

I created an DVD from iMovie just fine.
However, when I try to use the iDVD Project file, it cannot find the shared file. This means I have to redo the iDVD opening screens whenever I make changes in iMovie, and want an updated DVD with the latest changes.
I have moved both the iMovie file & the iDVD Project File to my external firewire drive. Both open fine, but won't link.

My iBook only has 40G free, so I'm creating & storing my imovies on the external HD. What if I create iDVD project from the external drive and leave it there? Will it link, or does it have to be on the startup (internal) HD?

Import existing HTML Help project

New to RoboHelp 9 (sigh) - trying to import an existing hhp project but I get the message that the hha file contains an incorrect filepath. Nothing has changed regarding relative filepaths. What am I overlooking?

I'm afraid a .hha file is a new one on me. Isn't this some sort of archive file? Do you actually have a .hha file present from where you are importing? Also can I ask why you are trying to open a project from the HHP file? There are implications of doing this. Do you not have access to the other project source files?
