Broken SWF icon...

Question

...when I'm working in Dreamweaver (CS5.5), on 3 (relevant) pages I haven't altered in over a year. BUT all appears fine on same pages in my website. (Also, I had created this rudimentary website using an older version of DW. Maybe that makes a difference).

Yes, you can simply place the .swf on the page using <object>. For example:
<object data="path_to_file/file.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="insert_width_of_movie" height="insert_height_of_movie">
  <param name="movie" value="path_to_file/file.swf">
  <param name="SomeOtherParam" value="ParamValue">
</object>
goes in here inside the <TD>
<TD> 
                                    <IMG SRC="images/thesporttest_03.jpg" WIDTH=350 HEIGHT=84 ALT=""></TD>  (Before I replace this image with the .swf file)
But page lacks a DOCTYPE:

Slicing/dicing an image and then assembling that image in a table is a very long drawn out means of accomplishing that display. That one single image can be displayed much easier in a single <div>... and skip the darm table all together.

using Box Model design is much more accepted as "Best Practice" currently.... and far easier in the long run to design, change, and edit the layout.
And always validate your code:

That is a very basic practice to help find/avoid coding errors..... for example, all images need alt="something here".
