Browser plugin sometimes doesn't display PDF, just a blank region

Hi,
I'm running Slackware 13.37 (32-bit), with Adobe Reader 9.4.2 and Firefox 5.0.1. I have the browser plugin installed, but sometimes it does not work. As in the thread title, the document fails to display, with just a black region appearing in the browser. Sometimes, if I refresh the page a number of times, I can get the document to display. Sometimes just waiting seems to help, but not always. This isn't restricted to one particular document. It happens (seemingly) at random. sometimes a given document will display in the browser, but not at others. I can't seem to reproduce the problem consistently, making it harder to fix, I suppose. This does not seem to be a problem with my Firefox profile; I started with a new profile and the problem still occurs. The Firefox error console gives no messages pertaining to the problem :/.

then it works again. I'm going to try running without the wrapper for a bit. Won't help my 64-bit users though.

Windows 7 doesn't display pdf properties/metadata, like title, comments, author, subject etc. This was a great feature in XP. Anybody know a workaround?

steps:
open the file explorer in windows7
select libraries from the left navigation bar
right click on the libraries heading.
select "new" > "library"
give the library a name e.g. "sales orders".
press the button "include new folder" to select the folder where the pdf files are in. e.g. "D:\files\sales\orders\"
select (top-right) "arange by" and select e.g. "name".
you should now be able to see the pdf properties (don't forget to enable the subject etc. collums)

WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT sometimes doesn't display the generated PDF file

Everything works fine except the WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT part. In some clients, this command does what it required from it and opens a new browser window with the PDF report displayed on it. In some other clients, this command does nothing: now window dispalyed. When I refer to the Application Server, I see the PDF report successfully generated there. When I put the URL of the generated report manually in the browser address, I can see the report.
 
Why the WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT doesn't display the generated PDF report in some clients?

I agree with the previous 2 posters.
Also firefox and ie handle it differently. Make sure you test on what your clients use.
Sometimes acrotray.exe is completely retarded and doesn't work.

Reader X doesn't display Pdf stream if response contains header "Cache-Control: no-store, no-cache"

Hi all,
I work on a web application that, among others, generates Pdf documents. It renders them directly within the IE window by "streaming" the content of the Pdf in the response output stream. Note that we also add the header "Cache-Control", "no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate,post-check=0, pre-check=0" to the response.
Everything was fine with previous version of reader but since I installed Adobe reader X the content of the Pdf is not showing any more in my browser.
Here is what I already investigated:
- if I use another machine with an "older" Reader version, it works. If I save the displayed Pdf and try to open it on the machine where X is installed it works
- if I remove the the Cache-Control header, then it works with reader X installation
Do you have any idea what changed between version 9 and X that could lead to this issue ?

We have semiliar problems in sweden with Adobe Reader X 10.1 Swe and Internet Explorer 8.0 with streamed PDF files.
We had some issues and got them resolved by the following
Upgraded to Adobe Reader 10.1.2.45 Eng

- Add site as trusted: Edit-> Preferences, unbox Enable Enhanced Security + add the host/url to site that is whitelisted to send pdf files
(the Automaticly trust sites from mu Win OS security zones doesnt work for us)
The thing is we run MUI pack on our Citrix servers and want Adobe Reader in Swe but it havent been translated yet...
So we have to wait for the swedish release on Adobe Reader X 10.1.2

My Media Browser in Garageband doesn't display anything except the very first song I have in this mac.

I have been always wanting to edit some songs and make a remix of it. However, the media browser in garageband in my macbook pro doesn't display any songs, except the very first song I added to my laptop. I have tried to do every suggestion from other forums (e.g. check the itunes library, etc) and none worked. One thing I realised is that I can still drag and drop the song directly from Finder to my Garageband timeline. Nevertheless, it annoys me whenever I open the media browser since this is not what my mac should do. I would be very grateful if someone could assist me with this matter.

Have you checked, if the search field at the bottom of the Media Browser is cleared? It should be set to "All", if you click the looking glass. Otherwise the list will be filtered.
And the drop-down menu should show "iTunes", if you want to see all songs.

Firefox doesn't display PDFs in browser all of a sudden

I noticed earlier that all of a sudden I can't view PDFs files in Firefox. I tried plugins, updating Firefox and everything on my Mac, and any other options I could find but nothing seems to work. I installed the recommended plugin for viewing pdfs, but it just views a blank white page (instead of "missing plugin" that, when clicked, didn't give me any information).

Remove all other plugins you have installed for viewing PDFs and install [https://www.adobe.com/products/reader.html Adobe reader]

Safari doesn't display pdf file from within Dropbox

When I click on a link on a web page that takes me to a pdf file located in a shared Dropbox folder, Safari only gives me a solid black page and doesn't open the pdf file. All the other browsers do, Chrome, Firefox and even IE. How can I fix this? I have Mountain Lion and the latest version of Safari. Pdf-plugin-244 is installed. I tried the suggestion in another posting about viewing pdf files in Safari, and it didn't fix the problem.

JPanel sometimes doesn't display correctly

I have this JFrame which contains a single JPanel as its content pane. I have the paintComponent() overriden so that the panel paints a background that creates the basis for the GUI. The problem is that sometimes when I run the program (I've tried it on different computers too) instead of the background showing up with the text field on top of it, the background turns grey and only the text field that recieves focus by defualt shows up. I can make the other stuff show up too by clicking on it. It's as if I hadn't set setVisible() to true and it only happens some of the time. Here is a watered down version of the program but it still has the problem.

Also, do I need to put a setVisible(true) for each component or will doing it for the frame alone be sufficient? Should I be using another format for the background image, ImageIcon seems less like an image and more like a Icon. Any other things that I have that are repetitive, missing, or just plain stupid?

Answer to your reply 1: we're using a (GridBag) layout manager in this one. The layout manager takes care of locating components under varying conditions. The only tricksy thing in this layout is the cooperation of the two gbc.weighty constraints in determining the height of the three–component group (of the two textfields and the wrongLogin label). Using a lower number for the top constraint and a larger number for the bottom weighty will move the group higher on the screen. The opposite settings will lower the group. It really depends on the height of the exit button. Once you get the height of the group set where you want it (with the constraints) it should resize nicely in different monitors.

Browser loads but doesn't display page

When I click on a link my browser opens and seems to load (the percentage done increases). It is slow, but even when it reaches 100% it just stops, and nothing is displayed on the screen.
My son's pal has fiddled with settings and fixed this, but I would like to know how to do this myself.
Also, any idea what causes this? It seems that something I load messes up my settings.

Could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

Private Browsing mode sometimes doesn't remember cookie info when opening links in new tabs

Also, when in Private Browsing mode, and I go to view the cookies in Options -> Privacy, I can see the cookies from the normal non-private browsing mode. All of them. It's not a fresh, clear, list like it should be.
I don't think any info is being read or recorded between the two sessions types, though. Just that sometimes, when opening a link in a new tab or window, it forgets the cookie information. Again, this is in Private Browsing mode.
I never had this problem until I upgraded to Firefox 19.

Any progress or additional information yet?
I also can see all of my "normal" cookies after switching to private browsing. (I remember that in the past I would see only a "blank" window when first switching to private mode.)

Safari doesn't display PDFs anymore

Hi all,
after reinstalling 10.8.2 on a Late 2012 mini, Safari does not show PDF files in its window (I have to download the file and open it in other apps).
Have I lost an extension or something?

Data sometimes doesn't display

When I load data into level 0 members the data doesn't appear on upper intersections. I run a calc all to make sure the numbers roll up, but I only see the data when I expand all dimensions down to level 0.
How do I see data at the first intersection for example?
Ex. Accounts Markets
Years 193444
193444 would be the roll up. That's where I want to see the data.

Here are some troubleshooting questions.
Does the data load execute without errors?
Are you loading to all dimensions?
Are all the members tagged as + consolidation?
Are any of the upper level members tagged as Label Only?

Artwork sometimes doesn't display properly in iTunes 10

I'm seeing that in iTunes 10 when you choose 'Album by Artist' mode and display Album artwork as 'Large' it will not display at all if the there are not enough songs to create a high enough area for the artwork to fit. It seems to be when you have 6 songs or less this happens. What I would expect to happen in is case would be that the artwork size chosen would dictate the height of the area for the Album. In other words the Album area would resize to accomodate the artwork even if it meant that there was blank space after the rows of songs in the list.

Album art sometimes doesn't display in grid view

The album art now displays erratically in grid view. If 10 albums are showing, maybe 4 will be missing art. All art seems to display properly in every other view. Is this a bug introduced in recent upgrades?
