BT Log in change - can't now email domains startin...

Presented this problem to BT Chat Online this morning who after checking the info provided stated they weren't trained to take it any further and offered me the BT Tech Support service (at a cost): "Since BT email log in change can’t send to [email protected] (domain has a number) using Outlook & Windows Live Mail. BT web mail OK. All other contacts OK. Sending before BT change 100% OK. No solution found on Google etc.  Can you help?".  That's a better response, however, than an earlier Online Chat on same subject which routed me to the BT Email Abuse team - lol!
I'm now advised by local computing assist specialists that this looks like a BT server problem. I'm not paying Tech Support time to fix that. So, what should I do next, please? (My technical ability to fix things for myself is limited - hence this plea for help)

Have looked at the link (thanks); however what I see on screen in Outlook 2007 for email account settings doesn't seem to fit. "Account Type" is POP3 and greyed out. However, should the "require Log On  . . .  (SPA)" box be ticked? When I look at account settings on Windows Live Mail it is also POP3 but not greyed out; "Outgoing mail server requires authentication" is ticked but "this server requires SSL" is not ticked.
Does it make any difference that I am on Yahoo BT Mail (only the the log in has changed from Yahoo for me so far) using Outlook 2007 (home edition) and Windows Live Mail 2011? The inability to send email successfully to an address with a numeric value starting the domain only beganon the log in change - coincidence??? All advice welcome TIA.
Yahoo sent an email to all users that SSL had to be used. BT Yahoo appears to have followed suit but not informed everyone directly.   Your post implied that only emails to particular addresses were failing. If all are failing then this is likely to be the cause.  Make sure the appropriate Server Ports are used.

  • Changed web host now email has lost all directories

Recently changed from 1&1 to Bluehost, kept same email address but obviously changed account settings. Now in Thunderbird all the old directories and saved email has disappeared in Thunderbird. Why? How do I get them back? The old host account was IMAP as is the new one. I really need the directories and the saved email, which by now is most likely gone from the old server. Already checked here the 'Moving Your Profile Folder' and 'Recovering a Profile That Suddenly Disappeared' articles and they did not seem to have the solution. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

IMAP is server based. You should have saved copies of your email to the Local Folders of Thunderbird on your computer before switching server. If the old hosting service has cleared the messages off the server there is not much you can do now.
You might contact them to see if the data is still available.

  • Primary email domain name change

We are going to be changing our company's email domain name shortly in order to make it shorter.  We are running Exchange 2010, mostly Outlook 2010, on a mostly Server 2008 domain but still running in 2003 mode.  We have a trust with a sister company
and until they upgrade to 2008 we cannot upgrade.
As an example we are changing our domain name from @microsoftcontoso.com to @contoso.com.
I am testing in my machine and set exchange & our spam filters to accept email from contoso.com.  I also changed my primary email address to be @contoso.com. I tested to my personal email and my new emails are coming from the correct email address.
My issue lies in the fact that my Outlook client still shows my email address as @microsoftcontoso.com.  If I create a new outlook profile on a new computer, it does show it as being just @contoso.com.
My question is how do I mass update everyone's Outlook in order for their Outlook client to show their new domain email address?  My fear is people will get confused and think they have the wrong address.
Thank you for any help provided.

    Hi,
Based on my research, group policy can help Outlook sync the new primary email address.

  • I changed my apple id email adress online and in ;music; on the phone but now the phone doesnt accept my password. can anyone help please

I have an iphone 4 and changed my Apple id EMAIL ADDRESS online with no problems. I changed it on the phone in 'Music' but the STORE APP now wont accept my password and shows the previous email address even after syncing, Can anyone help please?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If it's iCloud that is asking for these details:
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.
This article provides more information about Activation Lock.
If it's iTunes asking for these details:
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

  • I changed my apple id-(email), now when i try to log into my account on my iphone-am told that password is incorrect. But password works when i log in on my pc

I changed my apple id(email),now i cant log in on my iphone-am told
my password is incorrect- but password works on my pc

Perform these steps on a computer,
when you double-click an item you purchased before you renamed the account, the authorization dialog may show the old account name. If this happens, you will need to remove the old account name from the account name field, type the new account name, and click Authorize. This authorizes your computer to play the account's purchases.
If you are unsure about which account was used to purchase a particular item, follow these steps:
    1) Control-click (or right-click) the item in your iTunes Library.
    2) Choose Get Info from the menu that appears.
    3) Click the Summary tab. The account name will be listed on the right.
If you need further assistance in locating the current account name, please reply with the account name listed in your items' Summary tab. In addition, please include the order number for those items if possible.
You can locate order numbers by following these instructions on reviewing your purchase history:

    Hey there Darlene E,
It sounds like after you changed your email password you can send email, but cannot receive them. Try out the troubleshooting in this article named:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Mail
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3899
Try these basic troubleshooting steps first
Tap Safari and attempt to load a webpage (try any webpage). If you can load a webpage, then your device has Internet access. If you are unable to load a webpage, follow these troubleshooting steps.Try to use an alternate Internet connection if available:
    Try a different Wi-Fi connection
If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi.
If the affected email account is provided by your Internet provider, see if your issue is resolved while connected to your home Wi-Fi network.*
Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
    Restart your iOS device.
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.

  • HT204053 I have recently changed my apple id email address, which was ok however I have recently changed my password and now I have icloud account/sign-in issues, can anyone help?

I changed my apple id email address  last week, not a problem I just entered the correct info on my 6 apple devices for FaceTime, AppStore and iTunes.
The issue now, is that I have changed my appleid password so that the kids couldn't install any apps and charge my credit card.
Now I am getting an icloud authorisation error, it is telling me that the account (old apple id) or password are incorrect.
What have I done and how can I fix it?
Do I have to 'delete account' on my iphone and add a new one? I have just paid for the max icloud storage plan as well.

    I FOUND THE SOLUTION!
I had the same exact problem. I had my old apple ID connected to a school email which did not exist anymore. My ipad was prompting me to put the password in for that ID and I could not delete it from my ipad because the "Find My Ipad" was turned on, once again prompting for password. I called apple and they said this Apple no longer exists and is not in there system, which I knew already. After hours on the phone nobody could help me. Try this.
-Go to create a new Apple ID and use the same email address as the old apple ID which is locked in on your ipad
-Create a new password and all that, it will say it send a verification link to your email, in my case my email no longer exists so I could not do this
    - I called Apple to explain this problem and I asked if they could verify it for me, which they did after I convinced them it was worth a try. The guy told me that the verification shouldnt matter and should still be able to login but he did it anyway. You can try skipping this step but if it doesn't work then go ahead.
-Go to ICloud and click on your account, the email should be grayed out but it should allow you to change that password, put in the new password which you just created.
-This allowed me to sign in to accept the new terms and conditions but it said "unable to conncet to server" so I just backed out and went to "Delete Account" and it worked!
The whole idea is to re-create your old apple ID into Apple's system and then use that new password. The guy at Apple said tons of people called about this problem and nobody could solve it. I thanked him for helping me and he thanked me for helping him. I hope this helps you!

  • My mother used to be the bill payer on my iTunes account so now every time I send an email from my iCloud account it sent with her name, how can I change the settings so emails are sent from myself?

My mother used to be the bill payer on my iTunes account so now every time I send an email from my iCloud account it sent with her name, how can I change the settings so emails are sent from myself?
I've changed the bill payer to myself but it stills says on emails that I sent that its from my mother.

In order for the "From" field to show you options on the "from" addresses available, you must set them up in the Preferences > Accounts first.
I can't show you a screen shot of the from field because I currently only have one account, so the from address used is the default. However, when I had more than one, then options will show up in your compose/reply window.
You'd need to add an account here:

  • HT5621 I recently changed my apple id email from an old one to a new one and now I can't sign out of my old one on my iPhone 5 because it says I need a password. I cannot give that password because it is part of the old apple ID. How do I change IDs?

    Hi sharonpalencia,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand it can be very frustrating when you cannot sign in, or sign out in this case, to your Apple ID. In this situation you may need to temporarily edit your Apple ID back to the original email address so that you can sign out. Once signed out, edit the Apple ID back to the new email address and sign in. Please use the attached article for further information.
If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud
    Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device]. In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.
If you're still asked for your previous Apple ID password, continue to the next step.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

If you are trying to activate an iPad or iPhone and it is asking for a previous owners Apple ID and password, you have encountered the Activation Lock. This is a security feature that prevents thieves from setting up and using a stolen or lost iPad or iPhone. You have no alternative. You must use the previous owner's password to get permission to use the device. If you cannot get the password your father put on the iPad you will never be able to activate the device and no one can help you do it.

  • I changed my apple ID email address - can't log out of iCloud

I changed my apple ID email address some time ago - I'm trying to log out of iCloud on my iPad but as 'find my mac' is enabled it wants the password in order to sign out, but the email address is the old one (greyed out); it says password or ID incorrect - yes the ID is incorrect, but can't be changed!
And BTW in my iCloud account under the new addres, no devices have 'find my mac' enabled

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple IDand that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.

It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

I used my husband's email for my apple ID.  I just got him a new ipad but can't use the email to register.  If I change my ID now, will that email be available for him on his ipad?

    Hey LamFY,
Thanks for the question. The short answer is Yes. Once you change your Apple ID primary email address, the previous email address will be freed up for use with another account:
Apple ID: Changing your Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5621
Be sure to follow all of the steps in this resource, most importantly the first step of signing out of all Apple features and services.
    Thanks,

I changed my apple ID email address, and now I can't access my iCloud because it was  listed with the previous email address. What can I do?

If the old ID ("email address") is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
