BThome hub 2 DHCP drop out

Hi all since last night, 20/01/13. my ipad keeps being dropped the wireless network.. it seems that the bt homehub2  dhcp drops out and I have to go into hub manager to reset the the lease time  it was set for 1 day.. QED after 24hrs it duly dropped out. WHY??
I've now set it for 21 days. will this work?? this has only happened since the hub received an upgrade!!! any of you had similar problems ?

franka wrote:
I powered down the hub on several occasions . This did not renew the lease. I turned off the ipad etc and again no automatic reconnect.. Each time I had to manually kickstart the dhcp!!.  2 weeks ago I was roaming in and out of range- mainly to see what range I had, and then it was reconnecting with no issues... So this is a recent issue.. I'll see if it re boots in 20 days...
It should do....

  • BT Home Hub dropping out & turning itself off, Is ...

For the last 24 hours I've been losing connection in the house and have had to do a reset a few times,
This morning I woke up to my home hub having no lights on however the power was plugged in and on/of button pressed down, I then tested the speed and that seemed to cause the home hub to drop out once again showing no lights and needing reseting......sounds like it's about to die, might be wrong though??

if factory resets does not bring it back to life ( depressing small recessed button on back) then does sound as if hub is dying and you need to phone CS 08001114567 and if you are still in contract then they should replace it

  • BT Infinity dropping out constantly

I've had BT Infinity since April had some teething problems when I realised the speed drops when using wifi/home plugs and got equipment ungraded to help with this although there's still a drop in speed when not directly LAN cabled in (which is difficult if not impossible in my property).
Anyway I accept this since BT are getting 80mps to the router.
Next problem is that from around the end of June my connection started dropping several times an hour. When it does this new pages go blank or I can't connect. Lights at the hub remain constant as if no problem there. This happens even when I'm cabled in (LAN) so know it's not a wifi/home plug issue.
I've been through customer service several times, we've checked settings at my pc/laptop, we've reset home hub. BT then suggested I needed HH4 which was released only weeks after I had my FO upgrade but to get it I either had to pay over £100 or go into a new contract. At the time I was so desperate I didn't notice I was being moved from free calls 24/7 to free calls only at weekends. Anyway I was put into the new contract and didn't read the blurb because I trusted I was being kept the same or equivalent and I just wanted my broadband to be fixed. The HH arrived and it still was dropping out. BT said must be faulty HH4 so sent a replacement. Same thing happening with new one.
I'm pretty much fed up and wish I'd never upgraded, it's been problem after problem. I still have iplayer interrupted and half the time I am sitting here waiting for the thing to reconnect.
I have spoken to a couple of other people and they say their FO (FTTC around here) is also dropping out but they don't seem to be complaining. Is this something to do with too many people on the network - some times of day are better/worse than others.
I am really fed up of this, have spent a long time trying to fix it and just wish BT would say "Yes it's our lines" but everytime they say the line test comes back fine. People in my area are crying out for FO but I don't think it's as good as made out.
I've not changed anything in the time that it took for it to start dropping out (well apart from upgrading wireless cards and home plugs), I just got up one morning and it started doing it. I am now in a contract which doesn't suit my calling pattern, and that I can't get out of to go anywhere else, and I feel if I did the service would just be the same anyway. Every time I see a BT Infinity advert I feel very frustrated. My copper wire service was better, slower but it was consistent.
I have phoned and even used the email service to complain about this, but all I got in reply to the email was a phone call when I was driving and unable to use my phone, they left voicemail and sent an email which basically said you knew the T&C of the new package from the email we sent when changing to it, and BT Infinity is dealt with by the technical help which you can phone on 0800...........thanks BT.
    Very annoyed and fed up.

I posted on the other thread because I thought the problem was similar and because despite there being plenty of other replies on other threads mine hadn't received a reply yet and was falling off the front page. Apologies for my impatience.
Sorry if it looks like I posted contradictory information for clarity this is the situation.
I didn't have any drop outs when I switched off the hub and connected my laptop directly to the modem with the LAN cable.
When using the HH4 I get constant drop outs both when cabling in via LAN to the hub, or if I use wifi. So it's not just a wifi problem the drop outs happen when I cable into the hub and infact there's only one device I use wifi (laptop) and whether I LAN or not when the hub is used I still get the drop outs.
The drop outs started in June when I had a HH3, so BT went through all the resets, channel changes etc and sent me a HH4 which involved me entering into a new contract. There were still drop outs so I went through channel changes, reseting/restarting the hub, still drop outs so they sent me a replacement HH4. It's still dropping and doesn't matter whether I connect via LAN or wifi the drop outs still happen just the same. The only time they stopped was when I did what was suggested on the other thread, turned the hub off and connected via the modem. Since then I've reconnected the hun and back to the usual drop outs which are around 3 per hour.

  • USB hub dropping out

I have a Belkin Ultra-slim hub (http://store.apple.com/uk/product/H7187B/A/belkin-ultra-slim-7-port-usb-2-0-hub), to which I have connected a 4TB USB drive, my iPhone, iPad and various other devices "as and when" needed.  The hub is powered, and connected to my late 2012 MBP using the cable that came with the hub.
I have the problem that the hub just randomly drops out - it happens whether there are any number (even just one) of devices connected, and to me seems totally random.  Sometimes it'll be after being connected hours, other times after a few minutes.  This is so annoying - particuarly as the USB drive is my time machine, so it can drop out mid backup.
I've also tried this with a variety of other hubs - all have the same problem.
    Any ideas what's causing this?
    Thanks.

I have a slightly different set up (d-link powered hubs & new MBP) but the problem is the same. I do not have this problem when I hook the hubs up to my 2007 MBP. Both systems are running 10.8.2. I'm beginning to wonder about the backward compatibility of the USB 3.0 connections in the new MBP.

  • Home Hub 4 keeps dropping out

I received my home hub 4 in October 2013 but after numerous calls to the BT Helpdesk I have now had to revert back to my home hub 2 to get a decent reliable signal Im currently paying for BT infinity unlimited but I'm seriously thinking and going to sky they seem to a more reliable product. I've phoned the BT Helpdesk and they are equally useless being on hold for 45 minutes and being transferred to be put on hold for a further 20 minutes with no resolution to the issues I've reported

    Hi Dogandnophone,
I'm sorry that you're having problems with your BT home hub dropping out. Have you tried to manually change the wireless channel? Check out this link for help with this and let me know if it works.

  • Wifi Dropping out & not recognising Hub password.

    OS X Yosemite
    Version 10.10.2
    MacBook Pro
Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 256 MB
    Hi,
On my MacBook Pro the wifi keeps dropping out, and when I click the relevant Hub, in My case its a BT Home Hub 5 (Bt Infinity), It asks for the Hub password again, even though it's suppose to remember it, but I put in the right password, for it and it tells me that it's Invalid.  This happened a little bit with 10.10.1 and I know Apple addressed the problem in the update into Yosemite 10.10.2 but since I installed it, it has got worse.  In the past hour I've tried to reconnect no less than 40 times, with it telling me the same thing over and over saying that the password is invalid.
    Previous steps tried:
Turning wifi off on MacBook for 30 Seconds - 1 Minute
Forgetting the Hub and reconnecting to it.
    Resetting the Hub
    Restarting MacBook
    Punching MacBook
None of Which have worked yet, if anyone has any solutions, could you help me out because I don't know what else to try.
    Adam.

Yes, it could be the home hub 2.

  • BT Home Hub 3 Problems - Internet drop out

We had BT (and the Hub 4) installed at the end of August. As soon as it was installed, we had issues where the internet would be fantastic and stay connected for all of five minutes before slowing to nothing and then dropping out. We had a technician out to fix the problem, who seemed to have it solved.
Fiften minutes after he left, it went down again. It was not just on one device. It was two phones, a laptop, and a desktop PC. A technician came out a second time, replaced the Hub 4 with a Hub 3, and we still had issues. The technician, on their laptop, ran a number of tests (including the internet speed test) and declared the issue nothing to do with BT as the problems did not occur on his laptop. This was despite us also running the same speed test at the same time stating that we were getting all of 8mb (as opposed to the 30mb he was receiving).
Frustrated, we were informed that, when using the computers, we would need to plug them in via an ethernet cable to receive the speed promised to us and a continuous connection. We received a set of arcnet plugs for the desktop PC (which has solved the problem for the desktop) and that the laptop would have to stay by the modem and plugged in via ethernet cable to receive a continuous connection.
Recently (over the last two months) the internet has slowed dramatically, even when plugged in, and we still cannot receive a continuous connection wirelessly for the internet, and now we have issues of sudden drop-outs.
The connection can be restored by troubleshooting and it comes up with the following message:
This has been the message from the very beginning, and we want the matter to be finally resolved. Can anyone actually help up with this problem? We're feeling very frustrated at the lack of assistance we have received.

As you now have hh3 can you enter 192.168.1.254 into your browser and then post your adsl stats please. Can you run btspeedtester diagnostic test and post results
Are you connected to the test socket?
Have you tried downloading and then running inssider 3 which will show if you are using a congested channel for the wifi and if so other channels which you can move to being less congested
Have you checked that the drivers for your wifi cards are up to date from manufacturers website?

  • BT Infinity Hub 3 slow to load pages and drops out...

Hi can anyone help, I have had Infinity option2 for less than a month and it has not work properly since it was installed,
done all the around the houses with help from India and they have thanked me for my patience and acknowledge there
is a fault which they say they have fixed, but it's getting worse.
When I do a speed test I get 36Mb down and 8Mb up, great but when I am loading websites they usually take a long time to load and frequently drop out, when I hit the diagnose connection they usually load. I also cannot send or sometimes receive email from my accounts, with server error fault messages also my webcam does not work I can here them but they cannot here me, never had these problems with my previous ISP on only 8Mb.
    Thank you, getting desperate now!

Mate, I feel your pity as, although I've only had Infinity for 4 days, I'm having the exact same problem and NEVER had this issue in the 4 years I was on BT Total Broadband.  To summarise:
Day 1 - Everything worked perfectly
Day 2 - Internet would not load one single page
Day 3 - Working perfectly again
Day 4 - Most pages load, albeit VERY slow
BT India have told me that I have a fault in my line and an engineer will call me back in the next 24/48 hours.  Apparently I was the first person on my cabinet to have Infinity installed so I'm guessing I'm the guinea pig!!!

  • Home Hub Drops Out

Hello. Tech idiot here. I see others have had this issue and like others I've no idea why my HH4 worked well but my HH5 drops out.
Data posted below. Have had line tested via Rays suggestion to someone else. No problems. Line quite quiet.
    Help me..........
    1. Product Name: HomeHub5

    17. 2.4GHz wireless channel: Automatic (Smart Wireless)
    18. 5GHz wireless network/SSID: BTHub5-H23H
    19. 5GHz wireless connections: Enabled (802.11 a/n/ac (up to 1300 Mb/s))

    24. Software variant: -
    25. Boot loader: 0.5.0-BT (Tue Jun 17 18:52:56 2014)

You can try fixing wireless problems by turning off Smart Wireless and splitting the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. To do this:
    1. Go into your advanced settings on the HH5 and select the wireless tab.
    2. Then select the 5GHz tab and select NO to "Sync with 2.4 GHz:".
    3. Then choose a new SSID by adding "5" to the existing one, so you can tell the difference between 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
    4. While you're there change "Channel selection:" from "Smart wireless" to the current channel.
    5. Then press the "Apply" button.
    6. Then choose the 2.4GHz tab and change "Channel selection:" from "Smart wireless" to the current channel on 2.4GHz.
    7. Then press the "Apply" button again.
Now on your devices you can select which SSID (which band, 2.4GHz or 5GHz) to connect to.

  • Sky Fibre constant drop out and low speed

    Hi everyone,
Just recently switched provider from Plusnet fibre to Sky fibre and boy, has it been a stressful few days. First off, our fibre went live on the 6th of this month but these last couple of days I've been experiencing low speeds between 10-20 mb which I understand is meant to be normal (Never had this issue when I joined plusnet) and I have constant drop outs when I'm surfing the net or playing internet games on my Wii U
I've phoned Sky within the last two days and told them what's going on and they've done some tests on their end and they are telling me that I'm getting speeds up to 41 mb which I'm not getting, but they can't seem to understand why I keep having this drop out issue with my devices and my laptop and my gaming console. They have sent me a new hub, but I personally don't think sending out a new hub will make a difference. I've stuck a a Ethernet cable into my Sky fibre router and attached a openreach router, to the other end and see if that stops the drop out.
I'm inclined to leave sky, because I have a feeling this poor service will continue, unless someone can help me.
    Thanks

  • Flash audio level drop outs (Windows 8.1)

    Hey,
Using adobe flash, I've been having issues with to audio nearly dropping out to nearly inaudible levels on mutiple websites. Anything that does use the flash player, it seems to be triggered when I plug in another device into the computer for use, or charging although it doesn't seem to be 100% consistant and seems less likely after reinitiating the flash player, but would happen after having the flash player open for a longer period of time then attaching a device. My current work around is to either load up a different browser e.g. Google Chrome, which will use it's own plugin container containing another instance of flash. Or to end task on flash from my task manager, then reload the page. which would restore proper audio levels. This does not appear to be specific to one webpage, or to one brower.

So looking further into things, it seemed to have started happening since I installed Steam. While steams loader was active in the background it would cause the flash audio to drop out. I don't know any reason why it would cause this, but have just disabled steam from starting up at all. Any insight on why these two programs would clash and cause audio issues would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Re: Broadband noise/ drop out/ speed issues

    Hi community.
I know this thread is old and probably closed but I would like to revive it.
I have exactly the same problem as MPR and any advice would be welcome.
I am a long way from the exchange, the line comes into my house overhead.  I reported intermittent line dropping weeks ago, spoke to several different people, all very polite, very caring, but not much use.
Several diagnosed fault on the line and said it would be fixed remotely.  One sent me a new home hub 2 to replace the one they diagnosed as faulty, though God knows how.
I kept saying that I suspected a physical fault with the line as a bundle of cables wired into a junction box (big black thing - looked like a toy from Anne Summers but never mind) was hanging down from one of the telegraph poles and the foil around the end where the wires went in lookd as if it was not fully weather-proof.
Eventually, last Friday, an engineer was sent round.  Checked inside the house, checked outside the house and said there was no problem with the line.  He detected noise which he suspected was causing the drop-out and said he would see if there was any water getting in anywhere which might cause this.
The hanging down thingy was secured better to the telegraph pole but I don't know if anything else was done.
Right away, same problem.  Intermittent orange flashing broadband light on the hub.  Occasionally no broadband light at all.  Usually needs to be re-set though sometimes comes back on its own.
If you have any advice I would be most appreciative.  This is costing me money as when my better half wanted to order something online, found a good price, put the details in and clicked "BUY", the line dropped.  By the time it came back up, the price had gone up £30.
Anyway, I'm calling them again tonight when I get home.  I would say "no more Mr Nice Guy" but that doesn't get you anywhere does it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Sorry to hear that your having problems with your BT Broadband.
You will either be on the ADSLMax (upto 8mbps) service or if your exchange has been BTw 21cn upgraded you maybe on the ADSL2/2+ (upto 12/20mbps) service depending on your line quality and length.
However these upto speeds may not be the speeds you will get as ADSL broadband connections are very dependent on the distance from your property to the exchange and the quality of your line. The further away you are from your local exchange the slower your broadband speed will be.

Please see Keith's help guide here: Helping forum members to help you, it will go through some checks that are needed for us to help you.
A summary of the checks are:
1a) Is your router/Homehub connected by a BT NTE5 master socket, Adsl Filtered Master Socket or Extension Socket?   Please bear in mind that extension cables and extension sockets can reduce the broadband's performance. If you have an Old LJU master socket then please say.
1b) Have you tried the Test Socket?
    2) Can you please run a BT speed test (including IP Profile) http://speedtester.bt.com (not beta version)[Best done with a wired, Ethernet, connection] If the other link doesn't work you can try http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/
    3) is there any noise on your line. dial 17070 option2 ,called quite line test, from landline phone. should be silent but slight hum normal on cordless phone.
    4) please post adsl line statistics

  • Apple TV & Homehub 3 Home Sharing Drop Out

Good morning all and my apologies for posting this in the BT Vision section but I didn't know where else to go.
I've had BT Infinity for a few months now and been generally happy with the service.  I'm a Mac user and at the weekend I decided to purchase an Apple TV 3.  One of the main things I wanted to do with the ATV3 was to be able to use Home Sharing from my iTunes on my Mac.  I set everything up and it was all looking good, within minutes I was happily streaming video to my Apple TV.  5 minutes into playback however it dropped out.  It said on the Apple TV that Home Sharing needed to be enabled, I went back to the Mac, Home Sharing was enabled but I reconnected it again and it started working again.  5 minutes later again it disconnected.
I'm no network/router expert but even then I knew something was wrong.  I started to trawl the Apple forums looking for people with similar issues and found a LOT!  Problem is that everyone has different routers, issues, fixes and none of the solutions I tried seem to work for me, such as changing the channel on the router, reboots etc.
Basically I'm just really stuck now.  I'm not the most technical of people (but I do know some stuff) but I'd love some advice if anyone can help.  At the moment the Apple TV is practically unusable for me and I really would love to be able to have this working as when it does work for those brief few minutes it works really well and does exactly what I want it to.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I should add I found the following on the Apple forums although this seemed to be quite an old post (2 or 3 years) and was for an older Home Hub as when I checked I couldn't seem to add the Port Maps in the same way as this post and got confused
    Solution:
    1. Update the software on Apple TV (Settings | General | Update software)
    2. Perform windows update (Start | All programs | Windows update)
    3. Obtain the latest release of iTunes software. Run iTunes. From the iTunes menu select About | Check for updates. I am running version 9.1.1.12.
    4. Check that you can view movie trailers from Apple TV. If you can't then you the apple TV has not connected to the BT home hub wireless network. You need to enter the BT home hub wireless key (which is found on the back of the bt home hub) as you password when you connect your apple TV to the wireless network. Check again that you can view Movie trailers. Don't proceed until you can.
    5. Enter the BT home hub manager (Start | All Programs | BT Home Hub | Hub manager). Select Advanced. Enter admin as the username and your password to your hub. This is either a password you entered when you first set up the hub or the S/N number printed on the back of the BT Home Hub. Click continue to advanced. Select Application sharing. Select Create a new game or application.
Enter MyAppleTV against Name. Select Manual Entry of Port Maps.
Enter this Information one line at a time:
Protocol | Port range | Translate To ... | Trigger Protocol | Trigger Port
    TCP | 123 | TCP | TCP | 1
    TCP | 3689 | TCP | TCP | 1
    UDP | 5353 | UDP | UDP | 1
    TCP | 80 | TCP | TCP | 1
    TCP | 443 | TCP | TCP | 1
    TCP | 53 | TCP | TCP | 1
    6. In BT home hub manager navigate to the devices menu, just above application sharing. And select MyAppleTV from the drop down menu and assign it.
    7. Turn the power off on the Apple TV, BT home hub, and PC. You must turn the BT home hub off.
    8. Turn on Home hub, PC. Wait for your network to return. When it has turn on apple TV.
    9. Open up iTunes. In the menu select Edit | Preferences | Apple TV. Check that Check for Apple TVs is selected.
    10. In iTunes under Library and Store, Devices should appear and within Devices Apple TV should appear.
    11. If this does not work then phone Apple support and do not let them fob you off by offering you a replacement Apple TV.

  • Broadband dropping out following the thunderstorm.

    Hi all again,
I had a persistant fault for nearly 2 years that finaly got resolved via this forum with a lift and shift at the exchange curing the fault.
The main socket was also changed at the same time to a combined unit?
A year on and a house about 1 mile from me was struck by lightning and their line and phone damaged by the strike.
Since that storm Im suffering with terrible drop out of broard band service, it works in a limited capacity after a reset for about 9-12 hours and then needs another reset.
    Does anyone have any advice?
    my stats are here:
    ADSL Line Status
    Connection information

    HEC Errors (Down/Up):

    Error Seconds (Local/Remote):

the stats are looking ok just now but if you start to get problems then try a factory reset by using the recessed button on back probably wth paperclip or similar.  this will take it back to as you got it so admin and wifi passwords will revert back to the ones on the hub
to try test socket you take of bottom half of socket and connect filter to the test socket and then rj11 cable to filter and hub and see if that helps

  • Broadband drops out after bt upgrade work in area

Hope someone can help because the call centre is helpful but unfortunetly the help they give me is what I have tried before.
On Wednesday 17th August I received an ewmail from the BT Migration team stating that upgrade work would be taking place at my local exchange and that my phone and broadband would be out for 10 minutes on this day. The work got carried out and I received a email saying this and that my broadband would take about ten days to settle down.
Now we are about 2 months since this wok and my once reliable broadband (have hardly ever had to restart the box in the past nearly 10 years) is dropping everyday and if I do restart the box I either get on to the internet then it drops out again or I don't, getting frustrated for paying for something I can't use.
My HomeHub the original white model, only shows a solid broadband icon and flashing wireless and sometimes flashing data icon on the front of it but no internet.
I have tried using the bt broadband desktop help but it says my line is okay and I have checked all the microfilters that are attached and everything seems fine there. Phone the number at the end of the desktop help wizard and get told to try the same thing it suggests.
I have read on this forum that some other bt customers have had similar problems after upgrades and it turned out to be the homehub that was at fault.
Can anyone give me any advice in sorting this please or can anyone confirm that it is the homehu bthe issue is with and if so how to get a free replacement from bt.

    Hi Andy81,
Welcome to the forums.  Yes you would be correct in the fact that the White Home Hub doesn't have the best reputation on ADSL2+ lines simply because of its age.  I would advise you to contact the mods, you can do that by following this link: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951 and ask for a replacement hub, although you would have to pay if you are out of contract.  Do you know if you're out of contract?
