Budgeting/Planning on group of Projects

Hi,
IN SAP PS we can not budget /Plan on group of Projects...
Is there any work around through which we can acheive this?
Many thanks

Hi Ahmed,
i think ,what you are suggesting is whatever plan cost i have on project level that we can transfer and make it budget for the projects but that is not something which i required
basically the requirement is like that we need to control the budget on group of project not on particular project.
Say i have 5 project P1 to P5, Can we budget for P2-P4 combinely  suppose 100GBP.so if 100 GBP is booked for P2. i should not be able to book any cost on P4.
I know that is something which SAP PS does not provide, but still if you can suggest some work around that will be very helpful
Many thanks

    Dear venkata raju khottari,
Budget control is one part of Project System.  Normally we have two types of Budgets one Budget for CAPEX and Budget for Over Head expnes.  Max companies PS will take care by the Budgets.  If u need any information let me know.

  • Sorting and Grouping in Projects View

In Projects view, when either of two of the three grouping options is selected, there are two sorts in effect: the groups themselves are sorted, and the contents of each group are sorted. These sorts are handled differently, depending on the grouping selected and the sort order selected.
(It appears that there is a bit of the old Apple voodoo in here. The results are arbitrary , but they seem to have been carefully chosen to meet most users expectations. That is to say -- and this is an Apple programming trait -- the arbitrariness is faithful to the expected users' needs, not to logic.)
There are four sorts available, and three groupings
    Sorts:
    . Name
    . Date -- Oldest First
    . Date -- Newest First
    . Library
    Groupings:
    . Ungrouped
    . Group by year
    . Group by folder
So that's twelve possible ways to display Projects in Projects view.
Let's look at a few of them. I'm going to refer to the groups as "Year groups" or "Folder groups" and to the contents of the groups as "Projects". So there is sorting of the groups, and sorting of the contents of the groups (same as "within the group"). These I'll refer to as "Groups sorting" and "Projects sorting".
    Sort: Date -- Newest First
    Grouping: Group by Year
Result: Year groups are sorted in the same order as Projects. Projects which span multiple years are put in multi-year groups. Projects with the same spans are grouped together.
    Sort: Date -- Oldest First
    Grouping: Group by Year
Results are as expected; a reversal of the "Newest First" sort, but with the same groups: Year groups are sorted in the same order as Projects. Projects which span multiple years are put in multi-year groups. Projects with the same spans are grouped together.
    Sort: Name
    Grouping: Group by Year
Result: Year groups are sorted by year, oldest first. Projects which span multiple years are put in multi-year groups. Projects with the same spans are grouped together. Projects are sorted alphabetically, descending.
    Sort: Library
    Grouping: Group by year
Result: Year groups are sorted by year, oldest first. Projects which span multiple years are put in multi-year groups. Projects with the same spans are grouped together. Projects are listed in the order they occur in the Library structure shown on the Library tab of the Inspector. (Note that this last is literal: a Project named "Aardvark Close-ups" if it's in a Folder named "Zoography" will be listed after all the projects in "Yellow Paintings" and all the Projects in "X-rays, thoracic" if those Projects are in alphabetical order by Folder name in the Library. You can see all the Projects in your Library listed on the Library tab of the Inspector by "{Option}+clicking" the disclosure triangle next to "PROJECTS & ALBUMS" twice.)
    Sort: Date - Newest First
    Grouping: Group by folder
Result: Folder groups are sorted alphabetically by name, descending. Projects are sorted by date, newest first. Clicking a Folder's name in the Project viewer drills down to show the sub-Folders and Projects in the clicked Folder.
    Sort: Date - Oldest First
    Grouping: Group by folder
Result: Folder groups are sorted alphabetically by name, descending. Projects are sorted by date, oldest first. Clicking a Folder's name in the Project viewer drills down to show the sub-Folders and Projects in the clicked Folder (where, again, Folder groups are sorted alpha-name, descending, and Projects are sorted alpha-name, descending).
    Sort: Name
    Grouping: Group by folder
Result: Folder groups are sorted alphabetically by name, descending. Projects are sorted alphabetically by name, descending. Clicking a Folder's name in the Project viewer drills down to show the sub-Folders and Projects in the clicked Folder (where, again, Folder groups are sorted alpha-name, descending, and Projects are sorted alpha-name, descending).

Result: Folder groups are sorted alphabetically by name, descending. Clicking a Folder's name in the Project viewer drills down to show the sub-Folders and Projects in the clicked Folder (where, again, Folder groups are sorted alpha-name, descending, and Projects are listed in the order they appear in the Library).

+I see those icons but note that those projects in folders will be in different sections arranged alpha, and then date within. Am I correct on that?+
    The answer is, it depends.
If "Group by year" is selected, the Groups-sorting will always be by date, regardless of the sort order specified. The Groups-sorting order will follow whatever is specified for the Projects sort order (or default to "oldest first").
If "Group by folder" is selected, the Groups-sorting will always be alphabetical, descending, regardless of the sort order specified. (So if you use Projects view, take care in naming your Folders. Use prefixes if needed to force a desired alpha sort.)
If "Ungrouped" is selected, there are no Groups and perforce no Groups-sorting.
That's all I have to say on this topic (today).

  • MRP exception message 64 and planning strategy group 52

    Hi Gurus,
I have done extensive search online in the forum to find the route cause why we are getting MRP exception message 64 for a specific material in one of our plants. This exception message does not occur for the same materials which is also produced in another plant.
I was just wondering whether the planning strategy group of 52 in MRP 3 view would have any effect on the frequent occurrence of exception message 64. I know that the 64 message occurs when the routing time is higher than the in house production time. If that's the case where to look for in routing to correct this, apart from this do we need to look at work centers and other details. I'm not a  PP person but still was curious to know see if i could take a shot at it.
Also the MRP settings that we follow in the plant where this problem does not occur is NETCH, Create PR - 2, Schedule lines - 3, create MRP list - 1, Planning mode - 3, scheduling -2
in the plant where the 64 message occurs quite often is Netch, Create PR -2, Schedule lines - 3, create MRP list - 1, planning mode - 1, Schdeduliing - 1
I was  thinking do MRP settings and planning strategy group would have any impact on why we are getting the 64 wexception message
Because of this 63 exception message, the downstream components are getting wrong signals.
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hello Ravi
Generallt, exception message "64 - Production finish after order finish" is triggered when the order start date is in the past and system automatically changes to forward scheduling to calculate the finish date.
Note 1913017 explains how the order basic date is calculated and adjusted in case of forward scheduling, however, you are using strategy 52 and this is a very special scenario, whever VP planned orders are generated.
The VP planned orders will always be adjusted to the requirements date even if the requirements date is in the past. This is a special feature in the planning segment, since these orders are only kind of 'virtual' planned orders. These orders only have to provide the demand requirements for the components in time.
Therefore, there is a relationship between strategy 52 (VP planned order) and the exception message observed.

  • Assigning budget profile to already existing project

    Hi All,
Please suggest how can we assign budget  profile to already existing project .

    Hi Vishal,
You can go the Project builder, open the particular project and in the detail screen of the project definition, enter the budget profile in the control data tab page.
Or goto SPRO->Project system->Costs->Budget->Stipulate default budget profile for Project definition and assing the bedget profile.
Or enter the Budget profile in the Controlling tab page of the Project profile.
You can do all these for existing projects.

  • How to add user in administrator group of project server 2010 with powershell command ?

I want to add one user in Administrator group of Project Server .
Please let me know how to do this through power shell command.

    Hello,
You would need to use the PSI in your PowerShell commands. Here is a .Net example to get you started, convert this to PowerShell:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ajjose/archive/2013/05/24/creating-a-project-server-user-and-adding-user-to-a-group-through-psi.aspx
Examples of PowerShell and the PSI can be found here in some of the scripts:

  • Budget / Planning Process

    Hi,
My company would like to use the budget process in SAP to keep track of actual vs budget / Panning.
Can some one provide me the full configuration setup for the budget / planning process ?
Like creating budget version or plan version, entering of planned values, any need to create additional accts or used of secondary accts ?
    Thanks.
    Angel.

    Dear,
If you are using Funds Management then you can have the budgeting funcitonality at very deep level.
If you are not using FM then use Internal Order functionality to meet your requirement. Do following to get this done...
    1. Create Order type with category 01. (Tcode - KOT2)
    2. Create Budget Profit and insert this into order type created in step1. (Tcode - OKOB)
    3. Define tolerance for an Internal Order type which is located in SPRO>CONTROLLING>INTERNAL ORDER
    4. Create internal order.
    5. Assgn budget to internal order.

  • Budgeting/Planning Applications

We may be looking at Budgeting/Planning applications at some point in the future. I am familiar with Hyperion Planning. Are there others that work with Essbase that may be worth looking at?

Clarity Systems seems to be more flexible than Hyperion Planning. We've been using Planning now for 2 years and are considering transitioning to Clarity Systems. Clarity hooks up to Essbase cubes in the background just as Planning does but offers more features and less limitations than Planning. Hope this is helpful. Cameron

  • CN41, CNS41 don't work on planning version 001 and project version

    Iu2019ve an issue:
Iu2019m working on release ECC 6.0.
I did the overall planning, costs and revenues (structure planning on Project), then I saved data on project version and on planning version 001.
When I run the CN41 or CNS41 with plan data in plan version 001 (costs and revenues) and plan data (costs and revenues) in project version, the report doesnu2019t let me see the plan data in the Project version column neither in the planned cost/rev. 001 column.
The hot patches on my system is on SAPKH60013.
    Any one could help me?
    Pierluigi.

FYI for others searching on this issue, there are a few OSS Notes that explain this:
Note 148971 - Planned values in Project Information System
"4. The Planned costs column in the structure overview and the planning board corresponds to the Overall planned costs column in the hierarchy reports if you implemented Note 106823..
If you implemented Note 106823 (included in the standard system as of Release 4.0B), only the annual values of the WBS elements, networks and orders are displayed. Column 'Planned costs' in the structure overview and planning board corresponds to the 'Total of year'. If this effect is not desired, Note 106823 has to be removed or should not have been implemented beforehand. In addition, if you implement Note 127521, you must remove the changes in object REPS LHFPLU08 of Note 127521 (this applies to Release 30D - 31I). Any other changes can remain."

  • Adding Essbase Server access to Planning Application group

    Hi All,
How we can add Essbase server access to Planning Application group in Shared services ? Pls. advice

You can't provision access against any application group.
However, you can create and use native user groups or use external user groups and provision those groups to have acccess to Essbase and Planning.
See this post for an example of how I like to set up groups in Shared Services for Planning:
    http://camerons-blog-for-essbase-hackers.blogspot.com/2009/08/planning-security-wrong-way-and-right.html
The top level group I refer to in the post is where I typically grant Essbase Server Access.

  • Budget Planning for Plant Maintenance

Explain functions for Budget planning through SAP BW-BPS (SAP Business Information
              Warehouse)

SAP has the MCB functionlity for this.
With maintenance cost budgeting (MCB) functionality, SAP offers a product life cycle management cross-application component supplying a solution for planning a maintenance cost budget. A MCB in general is a budget for all costs for maintenance, inspection, and repair of technical assets. In the stricter sense of SAP R/3 software, a MCB is a budget for PM order costs.
MCB provides the following planning scenarios with pre-configured standard entries:
    - The history-based scenario is history-based and the budget categories are combined in one overall planning scenario. This scenario can create records with budget categories “preventive”, “planned” or “unplanned.”
    - The ad-hoc (hist) scenario
    - The maintenance plan scenario is zero-based and can only create records with budget use “preventive.”
    - The task list scenario is zero-based and can only create records with budget use “planned.”
    - The ad-hoc (plan) scenario is zero-based and can create records with budget categories “planned” or “unplanned.”
The benefits of an appropriate budgeting tool include:
    - Tool to drive down maintenance costs
    - Better data integrity than spreadsheet-based budgeting
    - Access to your plan data from everywhere with a user-friendly front end (Web interfaces)
    - Ability to reflect changes in near future
    - Flexible and accurate reporting
    - Integration with other enterprise systems
    - Data extracted automatically from back-end system
    - Reduction of the budget preparation time
    - Continuous planning with standardized, automated budget processes
    - Better transparency of the budget planning process
    - Support of planning as a company-wide effort, with a great number of managers and employees contributing
    - Not just a tool but analytical applications
