Bug when maintaining dimension data i AWM 10g

Hi,
I have been playing around with AWM 10g since the release and generally I'm very impressed with it. Easy and logical to work with.
I have found what I believe is a bug though. The second time I load data to a dimension through the maintenance wizard and if I check the "Delete all attribute values of the selected dimensions" some dimensions start to behave wrong when trying to drill up and down.
This can be replicated with the global dataset. I create the AW from the "Global Star Mapped" template. The first time I load data to all dimensions and cubes everything works correct. When I run the maintenance wizard again for all dimensions and cubes and check "Delete all attribute values of the selected dimensions" (without actually touching the source data) the result is that the Product and Channel dimensions don't work correct anymore. If I view the data of one of these dimensions it is not possible to drill by clicking the + to the left of the values. When viewing the cube in AWM and trying to drill down in those dimensions the only thing that happens is that the drill arrows disappears.
The Time and Customer dimension are not affected so something must be different between these and the other dimensions. When I tried with one of my own test datasets all the dimensions malfunctions after the second load.
The only way I have found to get it to work again is deleting the affected dimensions and starting again.
Bent

Yep, I confirmed the behavior on my configuration too. Bizarre... I did notice you can still drill if you use the pull-down menu rather than directly clicking on the + to the left of the values.
Typically, a user would select this option if they would like the dimensional attributes in the analytic workspace to match the relational source. For example, your relational source has changed and you do not want these previous values to persist within the analytic workspace. In this case with the GLOBAL sample schema, the data source is the same so something funky is going on.
By the way, if I encounter sudden odd behavior with the View Data feature (random known issue we are working on), I usually disconnect from the database and reconnect. Usually the behavior disappears. However, in this case it does not.
I'll enter this into the bug system. Thanks for all the details. Much appreciated.

There are posts on the OLAP forum covering this problem. Anthony Waite from the OLAP Product Management team has provided the following information:
e new, default Model View in AWM 10.1.0.4.0 is based upon the OLAP Analytic Workspace API (a.k.a. AW/XML). Just to recap and further clarify my earlier post, you must pass the following requirements in order to use it:
    1) Be sure to be using the Enterprise Edition of the Oracle Database 10g.
    SQL> select banner from v$version where banner like 'Oracle%';
You should see Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition.
    2) Be sure to have the Data Warehouse database configuration or the OLAP Option enabled.
    SQL> select parameter, value from v$option where parameter='OLAP';
    You should see OLAP TRUE.
    3) Be sure that the RDBMS 10.1.0.4 patch set has been completely installed. Users often miss the required Post-Installation Steps such as running catpatch.sql.
    SQL> select comp_name, version, status from dba_registry;
You should see VALID and 10.1.0.4.0 for the OLAP components.
    4) The Oracle Database must have the compatibility mode of 10.1 to use the Model View as it relies on the unique features found in Oracle Database 10g.
    SQL> select name, value, description from v$parameter where name ='compatible';
You should see 10.1, not 9.2 or earlier.
    5) Please refer to the patchnote.htm that is bundled with 10.1.0.4.0 patch set. Only you are aware of what type of database configuration you have. You will want to pay close attention to "7.2.1.3 Set the SHARED_POOL_SIZE and JAVA_POOL_SIZE Initialization Parameters" and "7.2.2 Upgrade the Release 10.1 Database".
Basically, I believe you have missed these required steps after installing the 10.1.0.4.0 patch set from the OUI: (pasted from the patchnote.htm)

  • Maintain Dimension Data withn the Current Record With Highdata

    Hi,
I have following value in the Product Dimension :
    Product_SK Product_code PROD_PRICE REC_END_DATE
    ========== ============ ========== ============
    1001 P001 12.3 20-JAN-2005

    1005 P002 20.2 20-FEB-2001
    1006 P002 23.2 20-FEB-2004
    1007 P002 22.5 31-DEC-9999
I want to maintain the dimension table with the only high record end data value(31-DEC-9999). Is there any filtering condition to maintain the Dimension like building the CUBE. During CUBE build there is an option "Filter ". Is there any process to give any filter condition in the Dimension build ?

If you are not using materialized views, then an easy answer is to map the dimension to a view on top of the table. But as it happens you can also apply a filter on a dimension. See the old thread "Dimension Mapping in 11g. Can Where clause be used to filter source table?" for details.

Sure enough - just tested this with Export > Insert and the column headings are in the displayed order but the data is in the db order. I will log a bug now.

  • Why cant I see an attribute when I "maintain master data"

    Gurus -
Here is an easy question for you.
I added a new navigational attribute to an InfoOject.  After I have loaded the data and activated it, I can't see the navigational attribute/values when I do a "maintain master data" when I display it via InfoObject.  But, I can see the navigational attribute/values when I do a "maintain master data" when I display it via InfoSource.  What do I have to do to see it when maintaining master data via the InfoObject option?
    Thanks!

usually in maintain master data - it might be that the number of fields are too large and you are not able to see your field.... what you can do is to select a particular row with data and double click on it to see the data or go to options and user parameters and choose ALV grid display and it usually displays all the fields unless you are using a custom layout which does not have this characteristic included.
The easiest way to check out if the characteristic is available is to use the P table in SE16 and view the contents - this too if you do not have  custom layout defined at the ALV grid level...

  • How to maintain Data availability in Oracle 10g RAC when LOADING the data?

    Hi
we are having Oracle 10g server on Sun Solaris(64 bit) with 8 GB RAM.
We are in need of moving the database to "Oracle 10g RAC". (Real Application Clusters)
Our doubt is when loading the data into RAC server, will it affect the application?
coz' we heared that RAC server should be down when we load the data.
    Is this correct?
If yes, then How to maintain High data availability when we load the data in RAC server?? Please help me.
    Thanks.

First, is this the same question that a colleague of yours posted in this thread?
    Data Load in RAC
Second, are other sessions querying the table that you're loading data into? If so, how are you loading the data?

  • Dumps when trying to Maintain master data

    Hi All,
When we are trying to Maintain master data for a master data object 0WBS_ELEMT, we are getting a short dump "CALL_FUNCTION_NOT_FOUND" in our BI 7.0 system.
What we are doing is Right click on 0WBS_ELEMT info object and Maintain master data, then we get the above dump. Saw in one of the forums that by making the info object in active and activating it again it will solve the issue but even after doing this the issue still persists, we still get the dump. Would need help from all of you.
    regards,
    Suman Pitta

    Hi Suman,
The dump is due to the fact that 0WBS_ELEMT has an attribute which still
uses the POSID conversion exit. Attribute 0PROG_POS should use
conversion exit POSBW. And in fact, in RSD1 of this infoobject, POSID is
Still maintained. However, if you go to the DDIC object in SE11
    (SE11 -> choose "Domain" -> /BI0/OPROG_POS -> Display), you will
see that the conversion routine POSID still appears. This is the reason
    you get the dump.
In order to resolve this issue, go to RSD1 -> enter infoobject
'0PROG_POS' -> choose maintain -> Set object status to inactive and
reactivate the InfoObject. The reactivation should regenerate the DDIC
objects (you can check this in SE11 again).
Alternatively change to the version from content which utilises POSBW
    already.
    regards,
    Colin

  • Error in Maintaining Dimension in AWM

    Hi,
I am building up a workspace with 14 Dimensions. I have mapped the dimensions and Cubes to the source views and am trying to maintain them. When I go to Maintain Dimension, some of the dimensions are giving error:
oracle.AWXML.AWException: Action BUILDDATABASE failed on object APPS.BULR
Caused by: oracle.AWXML.AWException: ***Error Occured in BUILD_DRIVER: In __XML_SEQUENTIAL_LOADER: In __XML_LOAD_HIERS: In __XML_SET_GID_FREL: One or more loops have been detected in relationship BULR!BULR_IND_PARENTREL over BULR!BULR_IND. The 1 items involved are 42537.
Each of these dimensions havs one "Value Based Hierarchy" and one attribute. I have checked the mappings and they are all correct. Any idea what could be causing this error?
    Thanks,
    Anshu

This is a symptom of a problem in your hierarchy. This is not my area, but I believe it is trying to tell you that you have a loop in your hierarchy (A is the parent of B is the parent of A). This will take us a very long time to solve :-).
Look carefully at the relationship named, and trace the parentage of the specified value. You should discover that there is a loop there.

  • Pre-compute for Value based dimensions in AWM 10g

    hi,
I created a compressed partitioned MOLAP cube in OWB 10.2.0.3 based on some value based dimensions.
I selected the hierarchy in value based dimensions for pre-compute, but it did display the hierarchy in OWB.
I deployed the cube into Analytical workspace AWM 10g(10.2.0.3A).It created PRECOMPUTE(NA) in the relation statement for the value based dimensions.
Is it that value based dimensions cannot be pre-computed (at the heirarchy) in AWM 10g ?
    Regards
    Chakri

For reference, I believe this error was due to the deletion and recreation of a standard form AW formula without full restoration of the formula's PROPERTY values. AWXML (and hence 10g OWB/AWM) will not work correctly if you remove PROPERTY values from objects.

  • Date delimit functionality when maintaining Z table

    Hi all,
I have Begin date and End date fields in a Z table and  i want to achieve automatic date delimit functionality.
So i have the subscreen area in my screen and called a std program and screen inside the subscreen. I have writen the below coding in the PBO event of my screen.
    MODULE DATE_D0001_IF_EXP.
CALL SUBSCREEN DATELIMITS  INCLUDING 'SAPLSVIM' '0001'.
" DATELIMITS  - name of my subscreen
But when maintaining the table in SM30, the BEGDA and ENDDA field headings are displayed. But those date input fields are not getting displayed.
Can someone tell me why the date fields from the std program, screen are not displayed inside my screen?
Edited by: Shanthi on May 2, 2011 1:59 PM

    Hi,
There are some imports being done in the program for screen 0001. Based on these values, the screen fields are made visible and invisible etc.
      IMPORT d0001_field_tab
             d0001_status
             x_header TO xheader
             current_date
             date_to_delimit
             date_to_posit
             vim_begdate_name
             vim_enddate_name
        FROM MEMORY ID vim_memory_id_2.
So try doing your validation with the events available in table maintenance,.

  • Trouble maintaining original "date taken" info and metadata when exporting TIFFs from original CR2 files.

When exporting TIFFs (from original RAW), I noticed my metadata said the "date created" was the day of export. I want to be able to access the date the original image was taken as opposed to the day I exported it. Is there a way to maintain original date of image taken in my info? I couldn't seem to find it after I exported my TIFFs...

I just tested this with LR 5.5 Mac OS 10.9.3 and it works correctly for me.
    To troubleshoot your problem:
    1. Which version of LR and which platform (Mac, Windows)?
    2. Which tool or command are you using to examine Date Created of the exported TIFF?
    3. Upload a sample TIFF showing the problem to Dropbox or similar and post the URL here. This will allow us to take a look in detail.

0vendor is not displaying name attribute when I maintained master data.
Details: I have four records in the 0vendor infoobject (sand box). I have to show these four records to the client. As i have free hands I maintained master data in the name field and finally activated master data. But when I add the name attribute to the vendor charecteristic in the query designer; it is displaying name attribute as # . Any idea how to display the names of the four vendors in the zquery.
Also do you know the transaction to copy standard query to Zquery?
    Thanks in advance.

    Dear Les
For 0VENDOR, Set Property as Key & Text, try once again.
Yes, you can copy the standard query very well.
Open the Standard query & using SAVE AS, you can copy to "Z" queries.
Hope, now you will get some idea
