Buggy stationery, recipients' blank replies

Over the last couple of years, I've found Mac Mail's stationery to be a mixed blessing. While it can save me time when I have boilerplate I don't want to keep copying and pasting, it's also given me grief in a couple of big ways.
One is related to attachments I include on e-mails that originated as custom stationery. Certain recipients tell me that after getting mail from me that has attachments, their own mail suddenly has text that's defaulted to white, so that while they can type, they can't see what they're typing. One of them uses Thunderbird, though I'm not sure the problem is limited to T-bird recipients. For the longest time I wasn't able to isolate the problem, but now I'm pretty sure it's happening only with stationery-generated mail I send. If I start a message without stationery and then include attachments, there isn't a problem.
I found this out when my custom stationery quit working. I was suddenly not able to use any custom stationery without my Mail program hanging or crashing. This issue has been documented in the forums. And though there are some fixes and work-arounds, I was never able to get these solutions to work. I was only able to go back to using stationery when I upgraded from OS 10.5 to 10.6. And lo and behold, once I started sending people attachments with stationery again, they had the invisible text.
Of course I'm looking for a solution to the invisible text problem, but I'm also just interested in whether others have experienced it. A quick search through the forums didn't turn anything up for me.

Well, actually. . .
118540 is the 6.2 patch line. All patches are "t-patch", until they're released to the public, at which point, they become "patches".
118542 would be for Linux, just as 118541 would be for Solaris X86. These are UWC patches.
Delegated Admin has:
118210, 118211, and 118212
Messaging has:
118207,08, and 9
As long as Messaging is at 6.2, we'll keep these same numbers. 6.3 will get a new one. The last 6.2 patch will get a -99, just like what we did for 6.1. Apply any 6.2 patch to a 6.1 system, and it upgrades it to 6.2...
If you consider UWC to be a "1.0" product, you get a better picture of what's going on with it.

  • How To Use Stationery With Mail Replies

The issue of using stationery files was one of the main reasons why I personally resisted switching to Apple Mail from Eudora 6.2.4 for many years. I use stationery files a lot in Eudora.
Now that I have begun to use Apple Mail after all of these years -- I've been a solid Mac user for 21 years -- while I have been able to set up almost thirty custom stationery files, and can use them in original messages that I create -- although it takes seven steps from the time that I hit the "New Message" button to the time that I hit the "Send" button, while this can be accomplished in Eudora in only three steps using the "Message With" or "Reply With" message commands -- I have found absolutely no way to use my custom stationery files in reply messages in Apple Mail.
Surely there must be a simple way to include stationery files in reply messages. Can someone here please point me in the right direction? From what I can tell, there doesn't even appear to be a way to add the stationery button to the toolbar that is located on the top right side of the reply window.
I am also disappointed that there appears to be no way to delete the built-in stationery files that I have no use for, and which are just taking up space.
Furthermore, I haven't found any way to rearrange my custom stationery files in the order that I like them. I want to place the ones that I use the most on the left side of the display window. As it is now, the one that I use the most is located on the very end on the far right side, so I have to scroll way over to use it.
Apple, will you please address these basic Mail issues. Considering how advanced Mac OS X is, I am rather surprised that Apple Mail is deficient in these areas.
    Thanks so much!

As much as I have enjoyed using Eudora over the years, sadly, it is now falling behind the times. Some time ago, I began experiencing certain problems in some email messages, such as links not being clickable when they should have been, or at least not recognizing a certain link format, which resulted in Eudora throwing an error message. In other instances, email messages that were formatted in HTML were not displaying properly in Eudora.
The minute that I switched to Apple Mail, both of these issues were resolved, and I was quite surprised. It really made me realize how old Eudora has become. And the supposedly "new" Eudora? Nope, sorry, no thanks! That is not the real Eudora. I have now grown used to using Apple Mail, but again, I would really like the ability to respond with stationery files.
What also bugs me is that you cannot use stationery files with attachments, unless those attachments are images. For example, try attaching a zipped archive to an outgoing message that uses a stationery file. Everything seems okay until you hit the send button. Then you get a message which informs you that you either have to remove the zipped archive, or remove the stationery.
In the second decade of the 21st Century, I find these various problems with Apple Mail -- including the problems that I mentioned in my previous message -- totally unacceptable.

  • SOLVED FIXED Lenovo W500 Screen Blank / Screen Flicker on battery after 3 minutes idle

When my W500 is on battery power and idle for 3 minutes the screen will flicker once then when I press a key it will blank briefly again before I can continue using the system.
this drove me crazy for over a year, but I finally found the answer:
Once again (I am a long time thinkpad user) Lenovo has shot their own foot.
To save battery power the default setting is to adjust the refresh rate to 50Hz after three minutes idle.
If you are a writer, nothing is more irksome than having to wait for your screen to blank everytime you go back to type!
go to:  Control Panel -> Power Options
Select Power Manager tab then click "Launch Power Manager"
In the "Power Manager" click the "Power Schemes" tab
then press the "edit" button to edit the currently selected scheme (or whichever one you want to remove flicker from)
    Press the "Next" button
then click "Lower display refresh rate" under battery settings and select "NEVER"
    Ugh.
All of the Wizards that Lenovo adds for managing desktop schemes, backups, etc. are just buggy.
the bios is buggy too, screen blank on reboot, resolution resizing when switching locations.
All the way around, Lenovo starts with a solid peice of hardware, and proceeds to destroy its robustness, with poorly executed features.
(Not that you are reading this Lenovo, but there is a lesson in this!)
anyway, I hope this helps some other poor souls out there!

  • Muse is constantly freezing when I upload a site

The new version of Muse freezes partway through ftping my files to my non BC site

What the hell is going on? Is this a Miuse bug

jkijki, you've sent 4 blank replies to this forum thread. I expect they may have been attempts to post screenshots or other attachments? The forum software does not support e-mail attachments. To include an image with a post you have to create the post within the browser UI of the forum.
Have you try putting the ftpPrefs.xml file in place to turn off FTP Extended Passive Mode (EPSV)? That may, or may not, be the problem, but it's the first thing we should rule out.
Please download the file http://muse.adobe.com/assets/ftp2014fix.zip, unzip it, and save the contained file ftpPrefs.xml to the following location:
On Windows: %appdata%\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Muse CC\2014.1 (You can type this in the Path bar at the top of the Windows Explorer window.)
On Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Adobe Muse CC/2014.1 (You can type this in the Go To Folder dialog using Shift+Command+G. The leading tilde "~" is required.)
Muse uses FTP Extended Passive Mode (EPSV). It's the preferred FTP mode for optimal performance, but we're finding some hosting providers have FTP servers configured such that EPSV is not supported or EPSV only works if you're inside the same firewall as the FTP server. The ftpPrefs.xml file above, turns off EPSV mode. So if that is the problem in this case, putting that file in place should enable you to successfully login and upload without errors.

  • Team chat behavior v 7

Another change from prior version question...
A supervisor sent a Team chat message, expecting replies to return to that window.
Instead, each reply popped up in its own window, rather than returning to the original Team chat window.
So, for instance, if you send out a question to the Team and 15 agents answered, you get 15 windows popping up all over, and it did not contain the original question sent.  If you happen to send a different message to two teams, you wouldn't necessarily know which message someone was responding to and you have a superfluous number of windows that are not related to the chat sent (at least, not in an obvious way).
Is the person sending the chat incorrectly or is this by design?
    Thanks.

    Hi Melanie,
This is by design and is indicated in the Supervisor user guide. "You can send the same message to multiple recipients (their replies, if any, appear in seperate chat windows, one for each person)". I agree it would at least be helpful if the response included the original message sent but I don't believe it's an option.
    Hope this helps.
    thanks

  • Resource Delegation Not Working

On Exchange 2010 SP3 RU8v2, for the life of me I can't figure out why resource delegation is not functioning as expected.  The issue is that the approval email is not being sent to the delegate but instead it's sitting in the resource's inbox.
I verified with a bunch of articles and it should be quite straight forward to set this up:
    1. Create room resource
    2. "Specify users who are allowed to submit in-policy meeting requests that will be automatically approved" - Check, Selected recipients, (blank)
    3. "Specify who can submit in-policy meeting requests that are subject to approval by a resource mailbox delegate"  - Check, All users
    4. "Enable the Resource Booking Attendant..." - Uncheck
    5. Add user to "Specify delegates of this mailbox"
    6. "Forward meeting requests to delegates" - Check
    7. Set-CalendarProcessing -Identity test-room2 -AutomateProcessing:None
Under this configuration, all users adding the resource into the meeting request will trigger an approval email to the delegate but it's simply not working.  Why?

    Hi,
The "Enable the Resource Booking Attendant..." should be checked in the resource mailbox delegate configuration. We also can run the following command in EMS:
    Set-CalendarProcessing -Identity test-room2 -AutomateProcessing AutoAccept
Then check whether the issue persists.

  • Mail treats smtp as the "from" account

    Hi --
I'm having an odd problem with sending email from Apple Mail. Essentially, it seems to ignore the account I am actually using and transforms the "from" to the smtp server I use to send it.
The smtp server for one of my email accounts is glitchy and works only from my office, so I wish to use another smtp server from home laptop. (iMac at work; Macbook at home; 10.5 and 10.4, respectively.) In preferences, I have set up the various accounts with both email address, separated by commas. And on the @work.edu account, I have smtp.gmail.com as the smtp server. When I send an email from this account, there are two drop-down menus. I select [email protected] in the first and smtp.gmail.com:otheremail in the second drop-down.
It sends, but the recipient gets it as if it is from my gmail account -- not the account I thought I was using. In the outbox, it shows the email as "from" the work account; but in the inbox (if sending tests to myself) it shows the email as "from" the gmail account. Huh?!?
This is confusing for recipients, causes replies to go to the wrong place, and prevents me from posting to closed email lists.
    Can someone help? Thanks!

Thanks, Ernie. It appears that you are right. I just tried sending using my home ISP's smtp address instead, and the test message now appears to be from my work account, as intended.
But this raises another issue. The nice thing about using an smtp server for one of my two active email accounts was that my "sent" folder on all computers (home, work, and iPhone) had copies of all sent messages. (I use IMAP.) Unless I create another account, which is really clutter since I don't use my isp address, I won't have it now. Unless there's a trick in Mail, perhaps?
I truly appreciate the help on this!

  • When I reply to emails my reply is at the bottom of the thread-is there a way to have my replies at the top so my recipients see them?

When I reply to emails using icloud my reply is at the bottom of the thread where none of my recipients see it-they think I am not adding any content.  Is there a way to have my replies at the top of the thread so my recipients see them?

This is so horribly frustrating! If you just hit "Reply" and start typing, your new reply starts right at the end of the original message, without even a carriage return. It's the exact opposite of how MobileMe -- and most other mail apps -- work.
    Can we either:
Move the cursor position in replied messages back to the top, as it was before; or
Add the option in Preferences to determine where you'd like your cursor to appear when you reply to messages

When I send emails using my iPad, some recipients are telling me that I am sending them blank emails.  I've had some of them forward the emails back to me so I can take a look and it seems that my message is actually there but the text is white.  Interestingly enough, I was a Windows user just a few months ago and I was on the receiving end of this same problem with someone who was sending emails from her iPhone.  I don't believe it is happening every time but if it happens even once it's a problem.  Any idea what's going on?

Oddly enough, having reported the problem it appears to have fixed itself. There may be some combination swipe gesture that triggers it is all I can think because I suddenly manged to zoom my display x3 by double tapping three fingers. Took me a while to sort this out but then when I got back home I could suddenly see all my emails again. Bizarre!

    Hi Informus,
Please check if it is allowed in AllowedOOFType of the Remote Domain *
In Exchange 2013, the only way to see or change the current configuration for automatic replying and forwarding to the Internet is via the Exchange Management Shell (EMS) with PowerShell commands.
To get the currently configured Remote Domains, use:
    Get-RemoteDomain
    Name                           DomainName
    AllowedOOFType
    Default                        *
    External
Get-RemoteDomain Default | fl AllowedOOFType, AutoReplyEnabled, AutoForwardEnabled
    AllowedOOFType     : External
    AutoReplyEnabled   : False
    AutoForwardEnabled : False
To change the settings, use the Set-RemoteDomain command.
    Enable automatic replies
    Set-RemoteDomain -AutoReplyEnabled $true
    Enable automatic forwards
    Set-RemoteDomain –AutoForwardEnabled $true
Enable OOF for Outlook 2003 and previous (for Exchange 2007 and 2010 support)
    Set-RemoteDomain –AllowedOOFType $ExternalLegacy
To change all these properties at once, you can use:
    Set-RemoteDomain Default -AutoReplyEnabled $true –AutoForwardEnabled $true –AllowedOOFType $ExternalLegacy
    Note:
Valid settings for the AllowedOOFType property are:
    External
This is the default and only allows for the new style OOF messages as introduced in Outlook 2007.
    ExternalLegacy
This settings allows for both the new style and old style OOF messages and needs to be set if you want to enable external OOF support for Outlook 2003 as well.
    None
This setting doesn’t allow for the use of OOF messages at all (both internal and external).
    InternalLegacy
This setting only allows for internal OOF messages to be sent for all Outlook versions.

    Satyajit

  • OWA Automatic Replies pane blank externally in IE

Hello I have a slightly strange issue that has been reported to me.
    This is under EX2010 SP3 RU4
    When viewing in OWA
    Organize E-Mail\Automatic Replies
    or
    Settings\Mail
from external to my organization both pages render a blank window, other tabs in the same section render fine.
If I use firefox from external both pages render fine with the same user and I can change and set the contents.
Internally in IE or Firefox both pages work fine.
This has previously worked both internally and externally on IE

    Hi,
Please ensure IE is the latest version and try to install
RU 5 For Exchange 2010 SP3 to check this issue.
    Refer to the comments from
    this article.
Or try to use compatibility view in IE to view Automatic Replies settings pages in OWA.

  • Blank Email Messages Sent from Mail to Some Recipients!

When I send email, using Apple Mail, I'm told that the body of my messages appear completely blank (although my address and the subject line do come through). I've narrowed it down to people who have hotmail, msn, and earthlink accounts.
I have tried on both my MacBook Pro and older G4. They both have this problem. I also have 4 email accounts, all through different services, and again all have this problem.
I am using some CSS in my signatures, but when I don't use a signature I still have this problem.
Any ideas on what the issue might me. Thanks in advance.

    Hi ideaspring
I compared your plist to mine. There were many differences naturally, but some stand out in my opinion:
I found the following in your plist, but no in mine:
    EncryptOutgoingMessages = 1;
I'm not sure, what this is, but I believe you might have installed a .Mac certificate and set you .Mac account to use this certificate to encrypt or just sign your messages.
I played with that some time ago: the problem was: windows mail clients had to go through quite a hassle to verify my cert, while Mail.app users were fine.
I found the following in my plist, but not in yours.
    SendFormat = Plain;
    SendWindowsFriendlyAttachments = 1;
    AttachAtEnd = 1;
The first can be set in Preferences > Composing, the second and third via the Edit Menu > Attachments > Always...
It would be helpful, if you could narrow the problem down to one of your mailboxes and one recipient, who is willing to help you testing. Even if it happens to all your mailboxes and some recipients, it would be good, if we could find a way of always reproducing the symptom.
