Burn a CD or DVD for only one user!

Hi,
How can I burn a CD or DVD that only my user can read?
I go to backup my personal informations and want to sure that no other people have access to this CD.
I use the Toast Titanium 7.1.2, but if other software can do this, I can buy it!

Thanks to all. But now, I see some thing that make this idea of a disk image, not good. Lets say, that I burn a DVD with a disk image inside the DVD. If I get, just a little risk on de DVD, I lost all the informations. If I dont use a disk image, I lost only the information, in that little risk. And because I go use this as a backup, this problem with security is a problem.
So, if somebody know another way, to burn a DVD, that only my user have access, please, let me know.

Select the application's icon then Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. In the Ownership and Sharing section check the owner and group assignments. If they have owner=you and group=you or staff, then you must change those. Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder and enter the following command line at the prompt:
sudo chown -R root:admin
Put a space after "admin' then drag the application's icon into the Terminal window and press RETURN. You will be prompted for your admin password which will not be echoed.
This should enable other users to access the application provided you have given the user access via their managed account preferences in Accounts preferences.

How to download an app for only one user

I have an iMac running the latest version of lion and I want to download and app from Mac app store but I only want to download it for one user, how can I do that?

If you wish for an app to only be available in one user account, create an Applications folder in the Home folder of that user account and drag and drop the app to that folder.

Reinstalling data from Time Capsule, but for only one user

I just got a new-used MacBook Pro and need to use Time Capsule to retrieve my old hard drive's data, but I do not want to overwrite the existing data on the laptop's drive, since it is different, including the OS, I believe. I would like to split the disc, as it were, without partitioning it, for multiple users using Time Capsule. Can I safely use Time Capsule to put all the files only into one user account, or do I need to wipe the drive and partition...?

You can use the +Migration Assistant+ app to transfer one or more user accounts from the old Mac, without overwriting anything on the new one. Those will be a separate accounts, with the same logins as on the old Mac. Each user account will have it's own preferences, data, etc. See the pink box in #19 of Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum), for details.
That won't "merge" two or more user accounts, since each user's data is private. You can do that manually, if you want, by copying data from one user account to another, but it's rather tedious.
You may also need to be careful if there's a big difference in the versions of OSX and/or 3rd-party apps on the two Macs; you may have apps and/or data on one that aren't compatible with the other. In many cases, a newer version of an app will work with the data from an older version, but not vice-versa. You may want to check that out rather carefully first.
If that's a "deal breaker," there may be a (rather clumsy) workaround; partition the internal disk, so you have, say, Leopard on one partition and Snow Leopard on the other. Then boot from whichever you want. In that case, you'd do a full system restore to the new partition, per #14 in the FAQ. That will only work, though, if the Pro will even run the other version -- generally, a Mac won't run a version of OSX that's older than the Mac's hardware.

PPro crashes for only one user

We run Adobe CC 2013 on a Dell T7600, 32MB RAM, K5000 GPU. Lots of internal storage. Two identical systems have been running like a champ since 12/2013.
Long story as to why we're on CC 2013. Suffice it to say it still runs great, except for one user.
Ppro crashes every time they try to open an existing project. The rest of us can log on and open them without difficulty.
No recent installs of anything. THe user in question is a reliable user who doesn't do dumb things. All other users have no difficulty.
We have tried having them start PPro with the ALT+SHIFT key. We have deleted all Media Cache files for all users.

I would suggest two things:
Rename the 'Adobe' folder in your Documents library to 'OldAdobe' and then try to open the project. If it fails, then
Create a new project, without importing anything go to Window > Workspace > Uncheck 'Import Workspace from Projects' . Then go to Window > Workspace > Reset current workspace. Save the project. Then see if it works.

Site looks different for only one user

I just updated our Intranet for the service reps. The site
uses the Spry Vertical Menu on the left hand side. I have one user
who has the entire left hand side cut off which is where the
vertical menu is, so she's not able to navigate around. I checked 6
other users and they're all fine. I tried refreshing her page,
deleting temps, deleting cookies. All individuals are using
IE/windows xp. Is there something else I can try to get this to
work for her.

Firefox crashes for only one user on startup, even after reset; safe mode OK.

Current crashes do not even produce crash reports, but two crashes from earlier today did yield:

Starting in safe mode shows the same installed plugins and two extensions that are enabled in profiles for other users on this system. It is only this user's Firefox that crashes on startup, even after a reset.
Have also uninstalled and re-installed Firefox. Again, it crashes on startup only for this user.
Windows event viewer does have several entries for an Application Error:
Faulting application name: plugin-container.exe, version: 32.0.3.5379, time stamp: 0x54224e6b
Faulting module name: mozalloc.dll, version: 32.0.3.5379, time stamp: 0x54221b67
Exception code: 0x80000003
but it's not clear that these entries sync up with the crashes.
This crashing on startup began this morning; no new software or any other system modifications (that I'm aware of) for several weeks now.

The hardware acceleration setting appears to be the culprit. After unchecking the Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available" setting, Firefox no longer crashes on startup.
Initially I'd glossed over this setting since it isn't an issue for any of the other users on this system. I'm still puzzled as to why this would be an issue only for this user, and what had changed as of this morning that set it off, but obviously there's something about their configuration which triggers this situation, even for the default plain vanilla Firefox profile!

ICal alerts not working for only one user

My main user account stopped giving me iCal alerts. I can switch to another user and my test alert works. I've found a lot of information online but most seems to be for older versions of iCal. I have gone into ~user/Library and removed everything related to iCal. I even managed to finally delete the home calendar that seemed to re-appear. I managed to start with a clean calendar but no alerts. Is there an alert plist file that could be the culprit? I've done a global search in Terminal for anything under ~User/Library with "alert" or "notification" in the filename but can't find anything. I hate to rebuild an entire account again.

InDesign (and Photoshop) crash on opening for only one user

I just spent the weekend "fresh" installing all of my software and data onto a new computer (MBP OSX 10.7.5). I have CS5.5 Master Suite Install Discs.
InDesign crashes on opening ONLY in my main "standard" account (Let's call it "Rebecca"). I'm prohibited by my university from regularly *working* in admin mode, but my admin ("Rebecca Admin") account opens and saves InDesign files totally fine. I also created a Test "standard" account in which InDesign works fine. I have tried (many times, orders, and ways for each solution):
1. removing the preference files (and caches files)
2. removing the SING files
3. making my main accout the "owner" of the programs and their folders.
4. running the Adobe July mini-fix icon updater (didn't work), tried to do the same "manually" (where I replaced the previous three files that the Adobe updater inserted).
Nothing has worked.
Photoshop also works fine on my admin account and the test "standard" account, but says that I have inadequate permissions on my main Rebecca account (even though Rebecca is the "owner" now). It closes after giving me about three info monologue boxes.
I feel as though I have scrubbed the internet clean, and still have not found a solution. Any ideas?!?!?
I just spent 3 full days getting the new computer up to speed with the old one (that I must turn in), so "moving" to the test account is not a nice thought. I also don't really want to have to log into another account just to use InDesign!

For anyone having similar problems, here is what solved the problem (that was clearly a permissions issue):
Type into Terminal:
cd /var/folders
sudo rm -rf *

Business Purpose field hidden in ESS portal for only one user

Hi All,
We have one wiered error while creating an expense reort in ESS portal and this is only for one employee out of 15,000 users.
Problem:
The additional information for expense type " Business Purpose " field was hidden for one employee and infact this is a required field and the rest of 14,999 users are able to see this filed while creating an expense report.
We wern't able to replicate the same error in other systems like QA/ Dev boxes with the same authorizations and even from the same laptop. This user got the same problem even by logging into different laptop.
SAP ECC 6.0 - Release 603 .
Any suggestions or ideas will appreciate.

We do not normally assign the Content Admin role in EP to the end user and his back end ECC role and EP portal role is 100% equal to the other users. Audit won't allow to assign any special roles to end users.

Saved search not navigating for only one user

Hi Everyone,
I have a saved search that navigates for all users except one. Furthermore, on that same search screen if I use a different object type, do a search and save it, the saved search works for that user. So it seems like it is related to the object type I'm searching for.
since it is working for some users, I don't think it is related to some IP or OP settings.
any idea what could cause this issue?

Flash audio player script played MP3 sped-up for only one user

I've reinstalled flash and checked that I have the latest version but this is getting ridiculous
Everytime I want to use skype or itunes or iplayer, I have to log in as the other user, close down all their web browsers, then go back to my account to get it to work, much to the annoyance of the other user.

Tacacs authentication fails for one user account for only one switch

Hi,
I am having an scenario, where as Tacacs authentication fails for one user account for only one switch.
The same user account works well for other devices.
The AAA configs are same on every devices in the network.
Heres the show tacacs output from the switch where only one user account fails;
              Socket opens:        157
             Socket closes:        156
             Socket aborts:        303
             Socket errors:          1
           Socket Timeouts:          2
   Failed Connect Attempts:          0
        Total Packets Sent:       1703
        Total Packets Recv:       1243
          Expected Replies:          0
What could be the reason ?
No errors on ACS server; same rights had been given to the user account.

Does the user get authenticated in the ACS logs?
reports and activity----> failed attempts
ro
reports and activity-----> passed authentications
That will help narrow it down.

Can I show a data label for only one point in a series?

Forgive a newbie question from an Excel convert, but can I show a value label for only one point in a data series? If yes, how?
There are a number of graphs where I only want to value of either an extreme value or the ending value to show. Having all the labels in a series makes the chart too busy. This is pretty easy to do in Excel.
If this can't be done, I guess that adding a text box over those points would work.

Sure. Here's and example labeling only the MIN and MAX points.
Column B contains the data charted with the blue line.
Column C extracts the MIN and MAX values using the formula below. Those two values are charted as a separate series, using the green data point markers, and are labeled with their values. The intervening empty string values appear to have doused the lines connecting the two data points.
Formula: =IF(OR(B=MAX(B),B=MIN(B)),B,"")
