Burning a disk in iTunes

Why is it that when I build a playlist, at the bottom of the playlist it says that there is 31 songs at 149 mb, but when I burn the playlist to a 700 mb CD-R it won't fit on one disk. Does it have something to do with the format?

The basic reason for this is the format. the songs on your PC are either MP3s or AAC files. Both AAC and MP3 are compressed audio formats. When you burn these to a audio CD that can be played in any CD player like your car stereo and the likes, the MP3/AAC is uncompressed and burned to the CD. So that MP3 thats 2-3 MB in size is uncompressed into something thats HUGE, like 18 MB or something like that. Im not sure on exact numbers but I know when those MP3s are uncompressed int a WAV format there HUGE like 4 times the size of the MP3 in some cases.

Unable to burn a cd from itunes

I just purchased a cd from itunes and tried to burn a disk from itunes and it says - "checking media"......never gets past that message - any clues? Thanks

Unknown Error 4300, cannot burn disk in iTunes

Good morning,
I am having the problem of not being able to burn a disc in iTunes. I am getting the message of unknown error (4300). It acts like it's burning then I get that message.
I have did set the properties in my computer to burn audio disk and also unchecked includ cd text in iTunes in the burn options as suggested on another thread.
Any other suggestions?

I am also having the same problem. I recently upgraded my system from an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 3800+ and Asus A8N-E motherboard to an Intel Core-Duo E8400 and Asus P5Q motherboard. The DVD drive, an LG GSA 4167b, is the same. iTunes itself runs much smoother now, but for some reason will not burn CDs (unknown error 4300). This is curious, as I have burned many CDs with this drive using iTunes on my old system. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well as removing and old version (4) of a Nero Suite I had kicking around. I cannot seem to find a list of iTunes error codes anywhere and there does not seem to be any real answers to this error code. Yes, the drive is plugged in properly (sATA)

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

TS3299 'disk burner or software not found' when trying to burn a CD from iTunes.

When I try to burn a CD using iTunes, I'm getting the message 'disk burner or software not found'. I'm a complete numpty so any alk through advice for idiots would be VERY gratefully accepted.

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here.

ITunes burns incomplete disk

Hi. I have 10 .wav files that I downloaded (legally), which I imported to iTunes v. 7.6.2 (9). When I burn the disk, it appears to be OK. But only the first four tracks were burned. If I try to play the later tracks, it skips over them like they're not there. Also, in the middle of the fourth track it is incomplete. The disk drive tries to play it but cannot and endlessly tries, so I need to reboot the computer.
When I click on the later .wav files (before they're recorded to CD), they are playable. So it's a problem with the CD or the burning, not the files. I have a Mac Mini running iTunes v. 7.6 and I tried burning the disk...all 10 tunes are burned and playable.
This points to something with my computer, or the latest version of iTunes 7.6.2.
Please help.

Upgraded to iTunes v 7.6.2. Tried to backup purchased songs from iTunes and the first disk (DVD) completed. Entered second DVD and was alerted that speed was incompatible. After three coasters and write speed set to 2x, still producing coasters with same problem. Always faults on second DVD. Haven't made coasters in a long time until v7.6.2 upgrade.

Using multiple disk drives to burn cd's in itunes

Recently i purchased a Lacie Lightscribe external burner. I installed the external burner. When i try to burn cd's in iTunes, the internal drive no longer is able to burn cd's.
is there a way to allow me to choose which drive i would like to use to when burning cd's? ideally i would like to use the internal drive to burn cd's most of the time and only use the lightscribe burner when i want to etch a picture in the lightscribe cd's.
the internal drive in my iMac is no longer recognized when i try to burn cd's in Itunes, only the external Lacie works.

Go to iTunes prefs>Advanced>Burning and make sure you select the correct burner from the drop down menu when you want to switch burners.

The disk you are using probably has a defect, not uncommon on consumer grade disks. Try another disk or better yet another disk from a different manufacturer or at least a different batch.

I am not able to burn a CD on Itunes. When I click burn it opens up the CD drive and I put in a black CD. When it goes back in it shows the computer is reading the disk, but then suddenly stops. No error message, just stops. At that point I did a diagnostics test and the following error appeared. Can anyone help me?
The last failed audio CD burn had error code -128(0xffffff80). It happened on drive D: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4020B on -128(0xffffff80) media at speed 0X.

You need to update your Mac OS X to at least 10.6.8.
Apple menu > Software update.

I try to burn a playlist from iTunes10 I keep getting a media read error and the disk appears to be half burned. I can create a burn folder on my desktop and burn the cd with no problems. This problem started two updates ago. I have tried using an external cd burner as well as the cd burner in my iMac, but get the same message. It only happens when trying to burn a cd in iTunes.
