Business Content Level

Hello,
How do you determine what level of Business content you are at?
Currently I know we are running 3.0B, and we are starting an upgrade to 3.5
Thanks,
Nick

Hello Bhanu,
What i see here is
The columns
Software component, Release, Level, Highest Support Package....
Under the "Software component" column I see listed:
SAP_BASIS, SAP_ABA, SAP_BW, PI_BASIS, ST-PI, ST-A/PI
I don't see BI_CONT
Is it implied by any of the other values?
Thanks,
Nick

  • Short Dump during Business Content Installation

    Hi Gurus,
I'm working on SAP BI 7.0.  I'm getting a Short Dump Error stating " Program error: ASSIGN with length 0 in program "SAPLSNR3".  " while I'm try to install the Business Content.
I'm getting this error when I'm trying to install Business Content with Grouping Option " Data flow Before ", but I didn't face any problem when I started off with the Grouping Option " Only Necessary Objects ".
I tried analysing this problem by going to ST22 transaction & during my analysis I found that in the said program " SAPLSNR3 ", there's LSNR3F01 include in which line number 178 is having a ASSIGN statement, where its trying to assign a computed value to some data variable. Now i understand that there's some problem with the value getting computed in the ASSIGN statement.
I also tried finding some SAP Notes for the same problem, but to my misery I couldn't find anything appropriate. Could anyone of you who had faced similar problem  help me out.
For further assistance in making your replies much easier here in I'm adding the information about BI 7.0 system components.
               SAP ABAP:               Level 12

  • Upgrade BI Content Level 0000 to 0008

    Hi,
I have posted this to BI with no responses so I'm posting here in hopes some Basis person might be able to help.
We currently have BI Content BI_CONT 7.03 0000 (Level 0). I would like to have the latest Business Content Level for Statistics.
Can anyone tell me how long of a process this is for basis? Is it just loading the content and a restart?
I have been told by my basis guys my system would be down for a day?
Can anyone add some comments to this?

    > I'm not any kind of basis guy so I was thinking they could load the patches without taking the machine down and then just bounce the machine..  Doesn't work that way for what I'm looking for?
The machine must not be taken down but people need to stop working because they may run programs (or parts of it) that will be (ex)changed during the patch application.
    > Also, if BI Content is updated in DEV does it have to be updated in QA and PRD?  I'm thinking I can just transport the BI Content items I'm working with...
To transport the content it needs to be installed on all machines.

  • How to find the business content cubes..

    Hi bw guru's,
how to find the standard cubes and how to map the fields for our reuirements..can any one help me ..in this scenario..
    thanx in advance..
    uma reddy

    uma,
help.sap.com is a reasonably good source of information on available business content.  For example, here is an overview of BC for NW2004s:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/3d/5fb13cd0500255e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
As you drill down you can often (but not always) find information on how the BI infoobjects map back to source system tables/fields.  For instance, this link shows this information for sales order header information under NW2004s:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/3c/63073c52619459e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
As you navigate you'll want to take care that you're looking at information related your system version and business content level.
    Hope this helps.

  • Error during activation of business content

    Hi
I am facing problems during the activation of the standard business content.
I am trying to activate the infocube 0ic_c03 material stock movement. We are using BW version 3.5 patch level 13.
while activating the business content and using the grouping "in data flow before" there are several errors which come up during the simulation install such as
infoobject XXX is not available in version A
Error when reading data target XXXX
    Data source XX not mantained
Key figure XXX is not available in version D
In order to avoid activating pre-installed objects i have deselected them.
I am in urgent need of some help. So any ideas that will help to resolve my problem are assured of being rewarded handsomely!!
    thanks in advance!

    Hi Everyone!
Thanks the responses have been encouraging and i do see a glimmer of hope
since i am fairly new at this I wanted to know
    1. does it make sense to install (or activate) the infoobjects which are shown as not available in version A individually and then trying the install of the infocube. It does remove the errors associated with the infoObject as i saw with one infoobject. Does this have any other impact
    2. For the data sources i went to rsa5 on the source r3 system. but the data sources listed in the errors were not found (the data source errors that are shown are of the type 0DBDUNS_IMPORT_XXX). Also it is my understanding that the data sources that are required for the inventory cube are 2lis_03_bx , 2lis_03_bf  and 2lis_03_um. Is this correct? I do not see them indicated in these errors. What do i do once i am in rsa5 and i select these datasources?
    thanks in advance!

  • Query modification problem after Business Content upgrade

    Hi,
We have upgraded two systems from Business Content 3.1 to BC3.3. After the upgrade we have a problem when opening queries for modification: a dialogue window is opened and system says:
    "<i>AUTOMATIC CORRECTION
The following objects were not found when accessing server
Press 'Repair' to correct the problem (incorrect parts of the query are automatically deleted)
Press 'Cancel' to undo the last action
    Missing objects:
    - InfoObjects
    |  |- InfoObject 0HIER_VERS
    - Affected Items
       |- Hierarchy version</i>"
Strange thing is that the problem cannot be reproduced on consultants' laptops, only on clients' PC-s, so we believe there must be something about Windows/Excel security that produces the error message.
Have you ever experienced this (kind of) problem before? Do you have any idea what I should check?
    I checked
         - Macro security settings in MS Excel,
         - logged on to the PC's as Administrator
         - logged on to BW with clients'/consultants' user ID's on clients'/consultants' PC's, problem appeared only on client PC-s
         - SAP GUI version (it is the same)
         - MS Excel, MS Windows version (the same)
I have also checked InfoObject 0HIER_VERS, it really does not exist in the system. But it does not exist in our Production system either, while the query is completely the same in both systems.
0HIER_VERS is a "technical attribute" (as I read in an SAP documentation - however, I don't really understand this term), it is attached to 0CS_GROUP (Consolidation group).
    Thanks,
    Csaba

    Hi,
Before checking that did u acvtivate and update all the datasources at the source system level.
    Thanks

  • Identifying business content based on requirements from Functional Doc

    Hi everyone,
I have a requirement to create technical documents from functional documents that I have received. The funct. docs describe the report to be created however, the fields that the user is looking for are basically in plain English (or atleast what the user sees in Peoplesoft). We are implementing SAP and everything is to be converted from Peoplesoft. The fields are as follows:
Year, YTD, Month, Company Code, Cost Center, GL Account #, GL Account name, Report Date, Actual Amount, Budget Amount, Variance Amount.
The functional doc I feel is incomplete since we dont have the source system table and field names in ECC that correspond to the users fields. Anyway, I think the idea at the moment is to create a first draft TD using Business Content. Can someone please tell me what area they think these fields are from? It looks like FI. Does anyone know of any Business Content objects that may contain the some of the users fields (chances of finding all in say one cube may not be high, am I right?). I am new to BI, so please spell everything out in simple terms and a step-by-step manner. I really appreciate the input of all the experts on this forum.
    Thanks. <removed by moderator>.

yes MD you are on the right track
But I would advise you to use the ASAP methodology and run blueprint workshops first before even approaching technical specs
If you dont know how the R3 system is structured how can you build a tech spec?
In the workshop there will be functional R3 guys as well as BW consultants and the clients
The clients bring their high level requirements to the table and everybody dicusses it
What you dont want to do is assume that std R3 objects are going to be in place
With the exampel you have given - this may be the only place where budgets have been discussed - the FI guys havent catered for it - so how are you goign to deliver it
I have given you the content areas in my last post I would expect the data to be in - I would suggest you go to the BI content area of help.sap.com and look for each of the areas I have given
Unfortunately there is not enough space here and I dont have enough time to step you through it step by step - thats what Principal BW consultants and architects on your projects are for - talk to them.
If you haven't got any - I suggest your project manager better go out quickly and hire some.
I would strongly advise you to gointo solution manager or sdn and grab hold of the latest ASAP accelerators and ppts - they will help guide you through functional requirements gathering - btu to be quite honest you shoudln't be doing this yourself if you are new to BW
(oh and every wondered why clients pay top dollar for good BW consultants - this is the reason why)

The business content is loaded. The version is 3.5.3 SP2 which we have and BW version is 3.5
I can see the business content going thru RSA1 for e.g for Sales 0SD_O01 etc
Now how can i make the content available for reporting. When I go in modeling and click on infoprovider, infoobject it doesnt show me anything. Its blank.
Do i have to connect R/3 to BW for reporting or load data to BW from R/3 and do reporting. Why the content is not showing in modeling? How can i make it available for reporting

    Hi,
First you need to install the Businesscontent object first...right side window in the business content will give you the option.once it is installed then u can view it in modeling then load data and do reporting...
If you need any details..feel free to post..If u satisfied upto some level..exibhit it by awarding points..

  • Reg. business content doubts

    hi
when installing business content it is showing level 1, 2 ...
what does it mean. how many levels are there.
How to know the infoobject name of a field. for example what will be the business content name of a particular infoobject.
normally how long it will take to install. whether to install in background is advisable.
    thanks
    regards
    sridhar
    [email protected]

    Hi Sridhar,
SAP delivered the object in "D" version and we need to activate those as per our project need.
Now Business content can be installed as (assuming you are doingfor CUBE):
    1) Only necessary object (this will insalled only infoobjects, atteributes which are comprosing of cube)
    2) data flow before (will installed Update rule, transfer struc, comm. struc, infosources, and so on)
    3) data flow afterwords (will installed queries, reports, templates, workbooks, multiprovider if any.)
    4) data flow before and afterword (this installed step 3 & 4 combined)
Now level depicts the kind of hierrarchy under which that objectcan be located. Ex: you are installing perticuler Infoobject, so the level will be kind of Infoarea --> Info Catalog --> infoobject.
    Hope this helps you.

    Pankaj

  • What is the use of Match(X) or Copy in Business Content Collected Obj..?

    Hi All,
In Business Content, After doing Drog nd Drop on Collected Objects, There, after Install Icon(I) we will find <u><i><b>Match(X) or Copy (M)</b></i></u> ......
Can anybody tell me what is mean by it and why and where do we use it.....?
    Please Reply me.......
    Regards,
    Kiran Telkar

    Hi Kiran,
    Match (X) or Copy
If the SAP delivery version and the active version can be matched, a checkbox is displayed in this column.
With the most important object types, the active version and the SAP delivery version can be matched.
From a technical point of view, the SAP delivery version (D version) is matched with the M version. As in most cases the M version is identical to the active version (A version) in a customer system, this is referred to as a match between the D and A versions for reasons of simplification.
When a match is performed, particular properties of the object are compared in the A version and the D version. First it has to be decided whether these properties can be matched automatically or whether this has to be done manually. A match can be performed automatically for properties if you can be sure that the object is to be used in the same way as before it was transferred from Business Content. When performing matches manually you have to decide whether the characteristics of a property from the active version are to be retained, or whether the characteristics are to be transferred from the delivery version.
    Example of an automatic match
Additional customer-specific attributes have been added to an InfoObject in the A version. In the D version, two additional attributes have been delivered by SAP that do not contain the customer-specific attributes. In order to be able to use the additional attributes, the delivery version has to be installed from Business Content again. At the same time, the customer-specific attributes are to be retained. In this case, you have to set the indicator (X) in the checkbox. After installing the Business Content, the additional attributes are available and the customer-specific enhancements have been retained automatically. However, if you have not checked the match field, the customer-specific enhancements in the A version are lost.
    Example of a manual match
An InfoObject has a different text in the A version than in the D version. In this case the two versions have to be matched manually. When Business Content is installed, a details screen appears which asks you to specify whether the text should be transferred from the active version or from the D version.
The Match indicator is set as default in order to prevent the customer version being unintentionally overwritten. If the Content of the SAP delivery version is to be matched to the active version, you have to set the Install indicator separately.
The active version is overwritten with the delivery version if
¡ the match indicator is not set and
¡ the install indicator is set.
In other words, the delivery version is copied to the active version.
If the Install indicator is not set, the object is not copied or matched. In this case, the Match indicator has no effect.
In the context menu, two options are available:
    a. Merge All Below
The object in the selected hierarchy level and all objects in the lower levels of the hierarchy are selected as to Match.
    b. Copy All Below
The Match indicators are removed for the object in the selected hierarchy level and all objects in the lower levels of the hierarchy. If the Install indicator is also set, these objects are copied from the delivery version to the active version.
    hope this helps.

    Sreedhar

  • Business Content and Data Sources automatic binding

    Hi,
I am not clear about the Data Sources and Business Content sync.
If I transfer the datasources in SBIW(RSA5)  and replicate in BW, how it will automatically bind to the infosources and data targets when we activate the relevant infoobjects in BW Business content. As part of Business content activation, will it search for datasources and bind to it automatically? What steps are needed in order to make the everything hooked up correctly?
Can anyone clarify to me how it works? Please explain step-by-step.
    Thanks.

Is there any addiotional things we need to do at info source level after activating the content? Selecting the correct data source etc.
If there is a enhancement to the extraction structure then what all steps manually  we need to do at info source level? When we replicate the data source which has been enhanced, will it create the infoobjects automatically so that they can be used in infosource communication structure?
As I am new to the system, I am running in to all these questions.
Appreciate any help in step by step how things will work.
    Thanks.
