Business Process Integration

Hi!
I'm interested to know if there are any products available today that can help a
Java developer integrate loosely coupled components into a business process. I thought
of doing this using existing Java APIs but I don't want to build all the infrastructure
myself, like translating from Java to XML and back, dealing with persistence of the
process context, correlating messages, etc.
I looked at BEA Workshop but realized it is mainly good for creating asynchronous
web services with a callback pattern but they don't address long-lived multi-step
business processes.
I've also posted my question on TheServerSide.com and was referred to Collaxa's Web
Service Orchestration Server which I'm going to evaluate shortly (http://www.theserverside.com/discussion/thread.jsp

Workshop gets you part of the way there, but truly long running complex
business processes are really in the domain of our WebLogic Integration
product.

Multiple business processses (which could be multiple
applications/webservices's methods) invoked by a client, could be madepart
of a single conversation. All these conversations are linked by a

first method.
The Workshop webservice invoking the multiple methods would pass the
conversation id, with every request which is part of the particular
conversation. If the method is targeting an externalapplication/webservice,
that application/webservice should be able to recognise this conversation
id, and identify the "returning" client. Basically, the application should
have a way of identifying the returning client.

Business process (Integration) monitoring - Solution Manager?

Hi Experts
I have a requirement here for business process monitoring at my client. The client wants to have a solution for monitoring of few key business processes for example incoming orders. The flow data flow is as follows: third party system -> AS2 -> XI1 ->XI2 -> MQ->ERP. Ideally, all the incoming messages should be processed within 3 minutes of sending by thirdy party system. The basic requirement from business to have a view of the number of messages sent by the external system and numbers of orders created in the system and if there is any message with processing time of more than 3 minutes, it should be reported. Also, if there is any failure in any of the points of failure - the reason of failure needs to be reported
I am thinking of using solution mnaager diagnostics and willy introscope for collecting data from XI Adapter framweork and Integration engine and the ERP system.
My queries -
Can solution manager fetch the data from non SAP system - AS2 service/MQ etc? if yes, how?
The solution i am thinking of - is it good one or is there any better solution - light weight/performance efficient?
In case i go ahead with the approach mentioned above, would there be an extra licensing cost for installing SMD agents and Willy on different applications?
Can we do a simple reporting i ERP system by fetching data from XI1 & XI2 systems? I understand that it wouldnt give us any details of the Java components or non SAP applications, but keeping in mind the limitations, is it a viable solution?
Any inputs would be great.

I'm not sure about the BPMon framework in Sol MAn 7.0 if it can be used with PI or not. I remember from teched that the end-to-end monitoring for PI was available only in 7.1 and with SAP PI 711.
From what I know wily gives you information about the status on the system (CPU, memory consumption etc) and not about the message flow so you can still use it but for the technical monitoring set up.
Also in teched I have participated at a hands-on workshop (ALM361 [http://www.sapteched.com/emea/edu_sessions/session.htm?id=542]) where we enabled the BPMon framework to use webservices provided by a non-sap application.

Collaxa offers indeed a solution that reduces the complexity of integrating multiple
synchronous and asynchronous web services into a long-lived multi-step business process.
It relies on an innovative JSP-like abstraction (called ScenarioBeans).
You can download the product and kick the tires at http://www.collaxa.com
Tibco and Web Methods also offer solutions in that space.
Finally you might be able to tweak WLI using XML events to support asynchronous Cajun
style web services.

Recently i came across BPI, i googled it but i got very limited understanding about this like , which talks about major core modules knowlege, SD,MM,FICO,PP etc, but don't know the future of this course.

You are correct in stating that cloud is not nearly as complex as CRM OP and there is no plan to build in that complexity. For customers that require both you will need to look at what really makes sense. I think cloud now supports some custom transaction type.
The way is works is that transactions such as leads, activities, opportunities are mapped to transaction types in CRM. You can change this in the code list mapping. If you need to do something complex like determination rules on which transaction type to use this could be added to the middleware, or you could do something OP for this.
Base integration to CRM OP is possible, but if you have really complex CRM OP processes, you need to look at who really are the cloud users and what to they need. At ASUG this week Pall corporation said they have only outside sales using C4C, inside use CRM OP. Most of their outside sales reps use iPads so everything is very simple for them, complexity is hidden from them.    Lennox also did a session, they also integrate with CRM. They said to start by crawling, walking, running - so start the cloud with the basic info your sales reps need and slowly add more over time.

If if want just to monitor various technologies, lets say BizTalk, then there are lot of tools available for this. BizTalk 360 and SCOM are two main tools.
similarly if you want to monitor SAP- like availbility of SAP services/URLS/Databases etc, then HP OpenView can be one option.
However, if you just want to make sure your business process ( integrated BizTalk/SAP..etc) are up and running then you could write some Automated Smoke test scripts, which will perform some basic testing and make sure all components are up and running.

1) In XI, Business Process = Integration Process = cc-BPM = BPM ??? Are these four the same thing?
2) Please tell me if I'm wrong: we have two types of message exchange in XI, stateless (through simple message exchange) and (ii) statefull (with BPM). There is no other type, ok?

On page 62 of your textbook, I don’t think the accounting process of purchasing supplies is correct. In the example, “GBI purchases office supplies for $500 with a check. Office supplies are expensed; that is, they are defined as money spent rather than treated as an asset upon purchase, even if some of the supplies remain unused. In this case, the relevant accounts are bank and supplies expense.”
Actually, supplies unused are assets of companies. Otherwise we don’t need an account called supplies at all. In the given example, I think we should credit $500 to bank account and debit $500 to supplies account. If at the end of the fiscal year, we used only $300 supplies, then we credit $300 to supplies account and debit $300 to supplies expense account. This is the typical process of supplies accounting.
“Office supplies are expensed; that is, they are defined as money spent rather than treated as an asset upon purchase, even if some of the supplies remain unused. “ This practice actually goes against the Matching Principle of General Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP). It’s not a good example especially in textbook, even though lots of companies are doing real business like this.

The design and processing of integration processes is also known as cross-component Business Process Management (cross-component BPM, ccBPM).
At configuration time, you configure the receiver determination for the integration process in the Integration Directory of the Integration Builder.
At runtime, the Business Process Engine executes the integration processes. The Business Process Engine is part of the Integration Server.
Cross-component Business Process Management is integrated with the business workflow. An integration process can send messages to a workflow and, conversely, messages from a workflow can be processed in an integration process.

- You can call an iBot from any business proces via webservices.
- You can call a business process (i.e. BPEL proces) from an iBot through a custom java script.

Weblogic Integration Business Process Tutorial (10.2)

Hi I'm going through the weblogic integration business process tutorial and when I get to Step 5, "Run the business process" I get a bunch of errors, including the ones below:
s4s-elt-invalid-content.1: The content of '#AnonType_Acknowledgment' is invalid. Element 'attribute' is invalid, misplaced, or occurs too often.
