Business Process Monitoring (Job Monitoring)

Hi all,
I have some business processes being monitoring. Most of them are background jobs and we are monitoring delays, cancellation, duration...
My problem is that we have an external tool (CONTROLM) for job scheduling.
That means that jobs are not released directly in SAP, but they are in status scheduled and when the start condition (in the external tool) is reached, controlm makes a copy of the scheduled job and start it in SAP.
I have succeded to have the alerts working checking the option of "start job condition" , but some times I receive alerts like this one: "Job Name with schedule date 16.09.2010; not yet started" even if job is started and finished correctly.
Anyone knows what could be the problem? Or why are we receiving these "fake alerts"?
Best regards,
Virginia

Hi Virginia,
if you work with external schedulers and use start condition "Start by time" then you have to ensure that the maintained Planned Start Time in BPMon is earlier than the actual Start Time coming from the scheduler. If you use start condition "Use job start condition" this problem cannot occur as every job is picked up that fits the naming criteria. But there you cannot check for the start delay (business wise) but only system wise.
In general you have to ensure that either the latest SP for ST-PI plug-in is installed on your backend system or the latest SAP notes (component SV-SMG-MON-BPM) related to ST-PI are implemented. Only then you can ensure that no "funny" behaviour occurs when it comes to job monitoring.

  • SAP XI and Business Process Modelling and Monitoring

    hi All,
Could anybody tell me whether SAP XI has any Business Process Modelling tools or any Process Monitoring tools?
If any, are these analogous to IBM WBIs Modeller and Monitor? Also does SAP XI provide any human interaction?

    Hi,
In the XI-Repository you can build Business Procces with the Process Builder.
for Monitoring you can use the Workflow Monitoring on XI.

  • Business Objects Scheduler Jobs Monitoring

    Hi,
Is there a management pack available for integration with System Centre (SCOM) such that we can monitor failed scheduled jobs in Business Objects via SCOM?
Is there any other way to monitor failed scheduled Business Objects jobs straight from the database or via any other method?
    Thanks,
    Chandan

    Hi Chandran,
I'm not a SCOM expert but I understand it is basically a monitoring tool.
Normally you would check for failed schedules in Business Objects using the Instance Manager, to filter for failed scheduled reports. Alternatively you could use the Query Builder to report directly against the XI3.1 Repository and return a list of failed instances.
Above workflows can also be coded into the SDK to provide customised feedback on schedule failures
The final option would be to simply set up email Notifications on the schedules to simply email the Administrator in the event of a schedule failure.
With any of the above options it should be possible to link in your SCOM system to read\monitor from this output.
    I hope this helps.
    Kind regards,

    Hellow Watanabe-san
Could you explain little bit mroe about what you are looking
    for ?
Are you looking for the way to document Business Process in SolMan ?
    Or
Are you looking for the way to monitor your business process in
    the backedn system ?
The link that vasanthgobi mentioned is the SAP help on business
    process monitoring.
    Documentation topic
In SAP Solman, you can document your business process in following
2 area. Project area and Solution area. Project area is mainly used
for implementation phase or initial documentation. Solution area is
    used for operation phase.
And to support the documentation, SAP Solman provides several
supporting tools for project area (you can copy the document in
    project area to solution later).
In SolMan 7.1, if you want to document your business process,
    you may have following possibility.
(General motivation for the documentation, please refer to the
    this blog http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/27054.
    And service Market Place

1.Upload via EXCEL (initial upload) and adjust in project area
<Create templete via project, and create excel content locally
      and upload to project area>
2.Maintain business process by using Business Blue print function
<Using more graphical instead of SolMan screen>

3.Start initial documentation using RBPD content and adjust it in
    project area
<SAP and IBIS develop analysis content based on the business
process repository. By using this content, you can execute
analysis for ERP and can get process utilization info.
And you can create initial process from this>.

      And service market place link
      http://service.sap.com/rbpd
    4.Document manually in project area
    (Also ARIS integration is possible).
In above case, if you use RBPD content, yes, you have some step
related to the backend system (collecting process execution statistic
in ERP). But in other case, you do not have any activity to ERP.
For RBPD, it collects the data by using job, and you can control
the number of WP to be used. The runtime will be depending your
    ERP system size.
    Business Process Monitoring topic
In SolMan, there are business process monitoring functionality.
Actually, it is not only the monitoring, but also you can use it
    for business process improvement.
Basically in business process monitoring related tools,
    there are 2 main tools
1.Business Process Monitoring tool - Monitoring
2.Business Process Analytics tool - Analysis & benchmarking
    (Also there are dashboard).
Business Process Monitorings enables monitoring of your core
business process from technical and application side.
The tool can monitor specific job(normal job/BW process chain),
interface(IDoc, tRFC, qRFC etc), performance, and also different
types of transaction document like sales order, delivery,
    purchase order, production ordet etc.
For transaction monitoring, there are pre-defined template
    (best practice).
Also it allows to monitor any table (z/y-table also).
And the Analytics tool is the tool based on the BW.
By using this, you can do benchamarking, trend analysis,
    backlog analysis.
In more, I highly recommend to check the series of blog
    by Volker. And FAQ document.

There are configuration document in service market place also.

  • Message not passed to Business Process Engine

    Hi,
I have a simple test scenario:
File --> Integration Process --> File
The process only has a reveive and a send step and sends the message further using the File adapter (this is just for testing purpose and no real-life scenario).
This works correctly until the message needs to be passed to the Business Process - in message monitoring I can see that the receiver and interface determination worked successfully and that the message needs to be passed to the Integration Process and that's it. No active process, no obvious error message...
Any hints what I could do to analyze what's happening? Where can I find more information on what the problem could be (any additional logs, monitoring, etc.)? What can go wrong when a message is passed from the Integration Engine to the BPE?
    Thanks for your help,
    regards,
    Peter

OK Im trying to understand you....
Your saying that it works correctly until the BPM...
Well this is not possible as the first step would be the sending from the source Business system to the Integration Process so in essence you would have not done anything....
Basically the flow is Comm channel to Pipeline which then sends to BPM which then sends back to the pipeline and to the target system. So in SXMB Moni no receiver would of been foun if you are saying that it doesn't get to the BPM....
    Maybe im not understanding properly....
In fact now that I think about it... Have you specified the message in BPM... (Abstract Interface etc)

  • Applying Business View format of ARA into Job Monitoring of Process Control

    Hi Gurus,
I have an issue regarding with the Job Result of when using SOD sub-scenario in Process Control. We have integrated AC and PC and the controls that have been set for automation, however, the fields (User ID, Name, Group, Risk Description, etc.) are not showing on the PC Job result like the ARA can do. Below information are given:
    1. In ARA --> User Level --> Simulate the risk analysis with Business View format --> Result --> choosing Management Summary --> above mentioned fields are shown.
    2. In Automated Monitoring --> Choosing Management Summary --> onlyfields of technical view format are the only ones that can be shown (User ID,Risk ID and Control ID).
Thus with this, is there any possibility that the Result of the Job Monitoring of the PC can be manipulated? If yes, can you provide some steps?
Hope you can help me on this.
Kindly refer on the attached file for more info.
    Thanks!
    Mackoy

    Christopher,
Re-generating the transfer structure does not need InfoPacks to be re-created. if you are still getting the old error, two possibilities:
    1) You created a new DataSource with new transfer structure, etc. but the InfoPack in the process chain still points to the old trsnfer structure.
    2) The data in the table has some records as MM/YYYY and some as YYYYMM.
You don't need to re-create the InfoPacks if your transfer structure is re-generated. They should work off the latest definition always.
    Cheers

  • Using ARIS process models as the foundation for Business Process Monitoring

    Hello,
Do anyone know if you can use IDS Scheer ARIS process models and the integration between IDS Scheer ARIS and SAP Solution Manager as the starting point for end-to-end Business Process Monitoring (BPM) so that you get the process description/model automatically in Solution Manager BPM and just need to configure the monitoring (more or less that you monitor against the modelled process in ARIS)?
Is there an API for SAP Solution Manager BPM so that non-SAP solutions/systems can be part of the end-to-end process monitoring?
If not, how do you usually integrate non-SAP solutions that are part of an end-to-end process that you want to monitor into SAP Solution Manager BPM, or do you not use Solution Manager BPM for this?
What is the roadmap for SAP around SAP Solution Manager BPM when it comes to non-SAP systems/applications/solutions and the new SAP NetWeaver BPM functionality?
    Regards,
    Markus Johansson

    Hello Markus,
I just paste my answer form the other forum entry Re: Business process management strategy in SAP?
in a nutshell BPM Netweaver is focussing on so called edge-processes (usually
SOA-based and often workflow related). These edge-processes a thought to enhance exisitng core business processes and should provide the fast competitive edge versus competitors. Examples would be also xApps. For this Netweaver provides process modelling tools, where you can get exectuable code through the integration between CE and PI. The monitoring part for these processes is mainly targeting business end-users and business manager.
Business Process Monitoring with Solution Manager focusses on core business processes which are realized with the "conventional", "old" SAP Architecture, e.g. Order-to-Cash or Procure-to-Pay. You get a combination of technical monitors (average response times of transactions, background job runtimes, monitors for IDOC or qRFC processing) and application related monitors (you get more than 200 pre-configured application monitors out-of-the-box like number of overdue customer orders or outbound deliveries or number of deliveries with goods issue posted but no invoice). The target group here is the support organization of the customer, from Basis-Support over application support on IT side to process owner on business department side.
Overview presentations can be found under
    https://service.sap.com/bpm --> Media Library --> Customer Information -->
    "Business Process Monitoring - Part 1 & 2".
    Or look under https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-processmonitoring
In the end BPM Netweaver and BPMon SolMan are complementary for different purposes and different target groups.

  • Information on Business Process Monitoring

    Hello experts,
I want to know if there is a way to monitor spool jobs in business process monitoring or other tool? I assume that I can monitor background jobs with BPMon but I don't find where I can monitor the content of the spool generated by the job?
I read also that job management can monitor jobs, but for the task "monitoring", it refers to BPMon.
Can you please tell me if I can do it? because I read in some doc that it is possible but no way to find how.
Thank you in advance for your help.
    BR,
    Mohamed BOUSSAID

    Hello Mohamed,
the job monitoring does not allow the monitoring of a spool file as it is an unstructured TemSe file. If you have important information to monitor you should write it into the job log and classify it via message class, message type and message number. Such structured information can be easily monitored via BPMon.
Monitoring the content of a unstrucutred spool file which can easily get several MB is too performance expensive and hence not supported.

  • Help Required IN Business Process Monitoring?

    Hi,
i have few clarifications reg BPM in solution Mangager
1.What is monitored in BPM,Business Process interfaces or the business Process data( at does t monitors at data level)?
2.if interfaces are monitored in Solman BPM,how different it is from Netweaver Business process management.?
3.if possible can anyone brief out what XI process monitoring is and how is it different from SOLMAN BPM?
    helpful answers rewareded
    rgds,
    rajesh

    Hello Rajesh,
please refer to https://service.sap.com/bpm --> Media Library --> Customer Information --> "Business Process & Interface Monitoring - Part 2" to get a comprehensiver overview about what is available out-of-the-box for BPMon in SolMan.
BPMon in SolMan and BPM in Netweaver adress different target groups and can be seen a complementary functionalities.
BPMon in SolMan is primarily targeting at the 2nd level application support and should ensure a stable and smooth processing of Business Processes from a technical as well as application perspective. The processes have a granularity down on transaction or background job level.
Technical monitoring could be average response time of a transaction or a job cancellation.
Application monitoirng is providing about the throughput numbers of documents like sales orders, deliveries or backlog figures indicating that there are erronuous documents or documents that need manual intervention. Looking at this last aspect it is clear that a second target group is key players on business unit side, like sales reposnibles, plant owners etc.
On interface side you can monitor IDocs, qRFCs, Batch Input session for certain statuses, check if files arrived or do some XI messaged based alerting.
BPM in Netweaver is a technical layer deeper and based especially on XI/PI. So this is an integration engine itself. When you look at the capabilities of XI/PI where you can split or correlate messages with ccBPM this is related to so called integration processes which could be a more detailed sub-process from what is looked at BPMon in SolMan. Other aspects that BPM in Netweaver is supports is Business Activity Monitoring BAM which cannot easily explained with  a few sentences. But here the target groups with BAM are either real business end-users or C-level management for business efficiency analysis.
Hope this answer could clarify a few things.

  • Creating Custom Monitors in Business Process Monitoring

    Hi all,
I have configured business process monitoring in our Solution Manage EP1 box for our Production ECC5 server. The standard monitoring types such as Application Monitor, Due List, Background Job Monitor and their corresponding monitors work OK, but my question is how can I create my own monitor?
For example, under Application Monitor type, there is a monitor  named PM/CS Orders which has some things like Orders in phase released and Orders in state created etc, but what I need is to report on PM Order if the order did not get Technically completed 3 hours after the last operation was completed, for example.
Is there a way to do that?
    Thank you,
    Sergiy

    Hi Sergiy
As you may realized, application monitoring objects are predefined.
And its check is basically conducted day basis.
In the coding it check like, basic finish date or planned finish date,
delivery date etc. (So, not detail level check like operation completion date).
This is because (off course it also depend on the data volume),
basically the data collection frequency of application monitor is
expected not too often. Since data collector publish SQL,
if you have many data and configured to collect data quiet heavily,
it can affect system performance of satellite system.
so normally to check the backlog from previous day or more longer period,
it is expected. Thus once a day or twice a day is normally expected for
data collection(Off course, if data volume is not large, little bit more
    frequency might be possible).
so daily check is considered as reasonable for application monitor.
    (TBI:through put and backlog indicator)
If you really want to enable your requirement, as you are looking for
you need custom exit. And it enables your requirement.
In this case, you need to define customize in satellite system
through the program /SSA/EXM and you need to define your coding
that fit with your customize and requirement in the program
    Z_BPM_ECU_COLLECTOR.
There is a document how to develop custom exit of bpmon in service
market place. So I recommend you to check the document at first.
    http://service.sap.com/bpm
    =>Technical document
    ==>Setup Guide - Customer Exit
also, there are past forum posting like following.
Re: BPMon - User exit monitoring
but first, please consider standard monitoring object can be used somehow.

  • Business Process Monitoring - Monitoring Types Nodes missing

I am making the setup of the Business Process Monitoring. I have created a scenario, a process and a step. Bui I have a big problem I am not able to solve: when I select a monitoring type for the step I have created (e.g. Application Monitor, Background job, Dialog Performance etc), I know that a subnode should appear under the step node but in my case this does not happen and I am not able to configure the monitoring type (No subnode appears under the step node even if I select all the monitoring types).
Someone knows which is the problem? Is there some missing configuration or it could be a Support Package problem.
I will appreciate your help so much. Please, do not esitate to contact me for any further clarification.
    Thanks
    Antonello

    Hi,
in the workflow definition you can suppress the node to be listed in the Monitoring. Check the the relevant nodes please.

  • Business Process Monitoring with SAPCCMSR Agents

    Hi
I have installed a SAPCCMSR Agent in a non-sap system to monitor log files.
This is the configuration about a particularly log file:
    LOGFILE_TEMPLATE
    DIRECTORY="E:\LOG"
    FILENAME="senddata*.txt"
    PATTERN_0="error"
    VALUE_0=RED
    MONITOR_NEWEST_FILES=1
In this folder every day, log are created (with name senddata-DD-MM-YYYY) and I would like to monitor only the last log produced to search for error.
When the agent run, it creates a monitor in rz20 with the name of the current log(for example senddata-08-09-2014).
Tomorrow when a new log will created, the monitor will change its name (for example in senddata-09-09-2014).
I also want use business process monitoring to create a monitor and assign the mte in rz20.
When I choose from a list which monitor assign, it give me the name of the ccms monitor that have the name valid for today(senddata-08-09-2014).
The problem is that tomorrow this MTE will change its name and will invalidate my monitor in bpm.
I tried to insert manually the value in bpm monitor like ...../senddata*/.... to see if dinamically, it will acquire the monitor with the name in rz20.
    But this doesn't work.
Anyone have an idea on how monitor this?
Thanks very much & Best regards
    Marco

    Hi Mark,
When the agent run, it creates a monitor in rz20 with the name of the current log(for example senddata-08-09-2014).
"senddata-08-09-2014 " - Is this the name of your log file created on OS level everyday ?
If yes, then why not after every log switch after end of day, a file with name sendata replaces its old content with the contents of current logs ?
This "replacing" is scheduled to run every 5 mins from OS level(cron script) and it picks the name of the file using current date method ?
In this was you will have your monitor with same name.
