Button navigation... Again.

I have 3 buttons inside a movieclip, which I want to navigate to the main timeline.
For one of the buttons, this is the code in the timeline:

nextFrame();
But that's because it is the very next frame (4) that I want to go to... Although the next button - "whatyouneed_btn" - needs to nagivate to the frame after that (5). What code could I use because I honestly have no idea...
The other button is "tutorial_btn", which I want to go to the 6th frame. How do I do this?

As I mentioned yesterday, do not use the code in both the main timeline and inside the movieclip if that's what you're doing. And as I indicated in my first reply here, use gotoAndStop(), not gotoAndPlay().
The code I showed should work, so it is a matter of solving what you have. Learn to use the trace() command to troubleshoot your code. If you use something like....
homeheading.whatyouneed_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, gotoFrame5);
function gotoFrame5 (evt: MouseEvent): void{
    trace("button works");
    gotoAndStop(5);
and you don't get the trace in the output, then chances are you are not clicking the button that has the code assigned to it. If you happen to be getting any error messages you should include them in your posting.

How can I get ThinkVantage button working again? (after a full HD rebuild)

How do I get my Thinkvantage button working again?
Background:
I had a virus attack and as a precaution I zero-ed my ENTIRE hard disk (using KillDisk). I have managed to re-install most things, including I now have an icon on the taskbar called "Launch Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox". However I would prefer it to be fired up by my pressing the (blue) ThinkVantage button at the top of my keyboard.
I have refused point blank to pay the (outrageous) price of GBP 40.00 for Lenovo to send me a CD with Windows etc on it, but have managed (eventually) to rebuild the entire disk driver by driver until the ThinkVantage Toolbox thing (version 6.0.5449.31) could take over and bring my drivers up to date when I Update my system.
(It's just that they may have gone in incorrectly??)
Is there something I should have done during installation.

I tried doing a search, but it's so hard to tell if they might be in AS2, or AS3, and if they would apply to newer versions of Adobe Flash (I have CS5)

Try once again to restore using iTunes, but this time without using a backup, to make sure that this is not software related.
If the phone still restarts on it's own, get it checked, this might then be hardware related after all.

Button navigation musical chairs

I am running into a nightmare trying to set the navigation direction within a title that include 5 chapter menus. I will go through each of the buttons and set the direction, but once I am done, and double-check the buttons, the navigation is nothing like I set. Occasionally, some of the setting stick, but most often, I am going back through the setting again to re-set.
I'm not sure if this makes any sense, as I feel like I am not describing the problem very well. I am hoping it's a common issue, or a simple operator error.
I would be most appreciative of any insight into what I might be doing wrong. Please post any further questions if the issue I'm having isn't described very well.

Have a look in the 'Settings' drop down box and make sure the 'Auto Assign Buttons' is not checked. If it is then every time you move a button or make a change it will force DVDSP to reassign the navigation, overwriting your changes. If it's checked, just click on it again to remove the check and try to assign your navigation manually again.
Another 'feature' of this setting is that on complex menus with lots of buttons it causes the app to run like treacle on a cold day any time you make a small adjustment to the position of a button. I tend to turn it off except for simple projects, and use the 'Assign Now' option instead.

Pop-Up menu button navigation?

Created my first BR project in Encore CS5.1 with no issues that I thought. I made some pop-up menus for several timelines all works well in that area but the issue I had with the final (BD-RE on my player since I cannot preview pop-ups in Encore) is the navigation with the pop-up menu.
Normally on a menu you can select "left, right, up, down" but on these pop-ups I made the pressing of the buttons on the remote do not correspond with where the selection goes. I press down and it skips over the next one down and instead goes to the third one down, I press "right" and nothing, I need to go "up" to go to the next line of buttons, etc.
Is the issue that I have 10 buttons on my pop-up? Is there a limit to how many buttons are on there? I organized everything correctly in the project; the 10 buttons are spread out in three rows and I assigned them top to bottom 1,2,3,4,5 etc.....

Thanks for that, I have been using Encore since 1.5 and I hardly ever used that "button assignment" tool so forgot it was there. I think the issue came about because I used a pre done PSD menu for it and later added a few buttons in Encore, I re-made the menu in Encore itself using new buttons assigned through Encore and the assignments all look ok. Thanks again!

Simple button navigation script

This question is so simple-I can't really find the answer
anywhere, but as a complete NooB I have no idea how to make this
work. I have a nested movie 1 layer down from main stage that has
several navigation buttons that move to different main stage
labeled frames. I get an 1120 error because I am somehow not
calling them out on the script. I have named the instances..so
that's not the problem. I think I just need to somehow direct the
script to the nested location. If I move the buttons to the main
stage I get no errors and it all works perfectly. Please help.
Here's a sample script for the button:

It's located in a mc called "movFilmbackground". I'm trying

My Toshiba L305 - Both Buttons Broken (AGAIN) - TOSHIBA DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS

So my left button broke (i didn't do anything) and so since it was under warranty, I was directed to a local authorized repair shop and they had to order the whole new keyboard that includes the little piece of junk plastic piece underneath the button. They fixed it the same day as I watched them and they did a perfect job. They also showed me the little cheap, litte, junky little piece of plastic that supported both buttons and that broke in my case. We both concluded that of course it would break again. Anyway, time goes by and the inside of the power piece broke off. So we go through the same routine. I go to the repair shop, they fix it and they say its common. In this case they even somehow strenghtened it so it would not happen again! So more time goes by (still under the year warranty as of Dec 21, 2009). Now, both my buttons again no longer work (big suprise). So since it is still under warranty, I call Toshiba but now they are saying they changed the rules since two Mondays ago and that I can no longer take it to that local authorized repair center (even though they rocked) but now I have to send in my laptop to Toshiba's official repair center. Needless to say, i wouldn't get my laptop back for 10 days. I run my business from my laptop so how on earth can I send it in? Anyway, I fought a lot with them on the phone and even got to the 'top' of the customer relations department, a frustrated lady named Mina, but she says there is nothing else they can do. No loaner, no replacement, can't get my money back, etc. The only thing I can do is send in my work laptop and not have it for 10 days. So what is ironic is I purchased a Toshiba laptop because I heard they were one of the best made computers. I now know that I was GREATLY misinformed. This is the worst situation I have ever seen in a computer business. The good news is that I am in IT and have lots of clients and so now I have the priviledge of telling my clients to run from Toshiba. I write all this for any of you out there who may have the same problem (because I am positive there will be many more since it is a tiny little piece of plastic underneath your buttons). It is clear to me that this is a defect.
My two big problems with this whole thing:
1. How can anyone expect someone to not have their laptop that they use to run a business for 10 days?
2. Why even have it fixed it if is just going to brake again?
3. So because of the 3 defects of this computer, now Toshiba is punishing me further!
If anyone is reading this who is thinking about buying a toshiba laptop, DON'T DO IT. Save yourself a lot of time, frustration and punishment from the company called, 'Toshiba'. Go with a Dell. Go with anything other than Toshiba. I will say it again: Tosbiba laptops are defective and Toshiba's policies show that they clearly don't care about the customers!

At least Toshiba is covering your repairs under Warranty. My ex-wife's new HP had one of the touchpad buttons break on her system and they want $400 bucks to fix it claiming that physical damage like that isn't covered.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

I've got a new computer with windows 7 & i downloaded firefox yesterdayerday. there are no menu buttons/navigation buttons showing up.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).
If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
* If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
* If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
* If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

LOV button navigation in multi row block

We have two fields in a multirow block, Role Type and Parent Role Type(which is a LOV button). When the current row selector is on a Role Type row all Parent Role Type LOV buttons for all the rows change only the current selected row. With Designer we set Keyboard/Mouse navigable properties to Yes(in the OLB) which fixed it but with Headstart these properties do not fix this problem. Any info and suggestions would be appreciated. Ok, now I understand.
Unfortunately, you have run into some standard forms behavior that doesn't work the way you want it to. The LOV button is not navigable, because your cursor needs to be sitting in the data item when the call to the LOV is made. Since this button is not navigable, the cursor will not move to the current record when you press the button. (Actually, the button is identical on each record.)
Possible solutions:
1 - use only 1 button in an overflow below. (Create your own action item instead of using the LOV button preference.)
2 - don't use a button at all. (Headstart provides the LOV toolbar button.
3 - Try generating the lov as a poplist. (See Oracle Designer online help).
4 - Use the new Oracle Look and Feel (available only on the web) to create a button in the field ('...').
