BW global rollout

Dear friends,
We are going for BW global rollout and I am facing some problems because of new customizations done in R3 system like for eg : In R3 system they are changing the costcenter from may onwards and in BW the same will reflect in BW but the problem is when they want to get the report from BW for the previous period/year the cost center should reflect the new cost centers but not the old one.
Please suggest me what could be the best solution.
Thanks

Hi,
Defining Costcenter as a navigational attribute will take care of your needs. Also take a look at the links in the thread below for modelling scenarios :

  • Query on Global Rollout  Landscape Strategy

    Dear All,
I need some information about Global Rollout.I am working in SAP BASIS.I need to finalize the system landscape. The query is,what would be our approach to implement the global template using solution manager:
    1. Separate Implementation at two different sites(Location1 and Location2) with two sets of servers (DEV,QAS & PRD) with common solution manager between both the location where the solution manager will be working as a common server between (DEV1 & DEV2,QAS1 & QAS2,PRD1 & PRD2 respectively),so that the global template package can be transported from Location1 to Location2 by using Solution Manager.
So Total no of servers will be 7 (two sets of DEV,QAS,PRD & 1 solution manager).
    2. Implementation with only one set of server (DEV,QAS,PRD) and solution manager at Location1. And only one Production server at Location2 so that the developed global template is common between both the location by solution manager. After developing local components at different clients (for different locations) at DEV,testing at QAS and transporting to PRD1,the global template is transported to PRD2.
So Total no of servers will be only 5 ( one set of DEV,QAS & 2 PRD,one solution manager)
Please guide.I need your help so that can finalize this asap.
    Waiting for your reply,
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sandipan

    Hi Sandipan,
Always a pleasure to hear Global Rollout use
First, I will comment on the number of Solution Manager instances.
If there is no particular need for two separate instances of Solution Manager and the different Geographies/ Businesses involved are happy to share 'content' from same Solution Manager instance, you just need one Solution Manager.
With Global Template Rollout based out of one Solution Manager instance, things can be a lot more simpler. For example,
    - you don't have to think about 'transporting' templates from source SolMan instance to target SolMan instance to provide periodic updates; they become available 'perpetually' for all Implementation Projects within the single instance
    - you don't have to activate 'Change Requests' to capture the structure and content assignments in the project. Often, people find this to be very time consuming
Please go through SAP Note 603336, if you haven't done already. This is very important to read.
As regards the number of DEV, QAS, PRD you must have for Satellite Systems, it's entirely dependent on the way your programme requirements are. I would believe PRD to one, though the other boxes in between could vary as per needs.
As for SolMan, you need to have just one instance running to cover Template Project and all Rollouts based on that.

    Srini

  • HI all ,i am involving into sap hcm om,pa global rollout project for 6 countries.

om pa global rollout project for 6 countries, i have 6 company codes. how can i maintain number ranges for om objects with 6 company codes.
company code1     :  om object number ranges from 1 to 10
company code2     :  om object number ranges from 11 to 20
company code3     :  om object number ranges from 21 to30
co code 4               : om object number ranges from 31 to 40
co code 5               : om object number ranges from 41 to 50
co code6                : om object number ranges from 51 to 60
how can i do this configuration.can you plz help me?

    Hi Anand,
Standard SAP doesn't allow to differentiate between organizational numbers at company codes level. I think you would need to build user exit for the same.
SPRO> Personnel Management > Organizational Management > Basic Settings > Maintain Number Ranges > Customer Enhancement (User Exit): Individual Number Assignment
    I hope this information helps.

  • Delete Global Rollout Templates

    Hi there,
after creating a global rollout template (with a couple scenarios in it) we transported it to another solution manager. Due to the fact that we don't need them anymore, we also don't want these scenarios to appear in the project scope tab for new projects.
Does anybody know how to delete such templates, or at least hide them?
    Thx a lot in advance
    Arthur

    Hi Arthur,
Where do you want to delete/hide them - in the target SolMan system, I suppose ?!
Did you try the following approach:
    (1) Go to Template Tab of the project
    (2) Select the Tempate row concerned
    (3) Go to the toggle button below to change it from 'Public' (Green) to 'Private' (Red).
Did you try to rollback the transport ? Not sure if it'll work; I haven't had to do this so far.
    Best regards,

  • SAP Global Rollouts

I was hoping to get some industry advice.
I have a client who is working on a Global SAP Roll out and I was hoping to find out what interest there is from industry professionals working as SAP Functional Consultants, Project Managers and Management Consultants to work on Global SAP Programmes.
Are SAP Professionals interested in this type of project?

    hi
These are the key factors need to be considered .
1.General configuration has been done for all the plants which you are rolling out.
2.Master data has to be prepared for the each individual plants.
3.If there are some specific requirements for any plant that you need to configure seperatly.
4.Make sure that all the master data preparation follow the parent plants which you are already implemented.
5.Contact the user for the related plants is there any specific requirement to be considered.
6.Configuration issues in the sence its depending on the requirement of the business. If it is already configured its ok other wise we need to configure based on the requirement.
Hope that above points are helpfull.

  • BC Sets for Global Rollout

    All-
I need some information / lessons learned on cataloging BC sets on the Configuration Tab for a Template Project. If you have used this functionality (i.e. recorded the config values, packaged them up in SOLAR02, and executed them for subsequent projects) I'd like to know.
What were the implications? Was it worth it?

    Bump. Anyone?

  • Global attributes in a template project

    Hello folks,
We are setting up a demo of global template functionalites in SM. In the template project we have created we need advice on how to go about with the following.
    1) What do the attributes - global, local, harmonized etc.mean from a businesss perspective. The help documentation provided by SAP is not clear enough. Can someone share their practical expericence regarding this.
    2) In the project structure created - on what criteria should the project/business team set the appropriate global attribute.
    3) What is the effect of setting up of this global attributes - should any implementation projects created in the future has to refer the master template proj.
Probably I am asking quite a lot but the questions seem to be related .
    Thank you.
    ^
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
First of all, it is advised to use this functionality only if you foresee a case of 'active' rollout based projects leveraging these templates. If, a Template Project is created merely to hold an inventory of process definitions, with future usage only as a 'possibility', you need not activate the 'Global Rollout' functionality and attend to the decision making on it at a much later date, when necessity arises. This is not something mandatory to take up right upfront, unless there is a case for it.
    1) In terms of practical use in project, I have rarely come across projects which have sought to use the whole range of these attributes; I have been using SolMan since May 2004 and since those days, the usual ones I have had a need to use are at extreme ends of the spectrum - Global or Initial. All those in between vary in their nuances and normally not as much missed ! In early days (SolMan 3.1, there weren't as many varieties).
With regard to the specific ways in which these vary,
[this link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/en/45/5af1f3e5f81dece10000000a155369/content.htm] in SAP Online help is the best source to find how these attributes impact. Of course, you may have already seen this.
    2) The Project Team should have one main consideration - whether to control the structure and content of a delivered scenario centrally or to allow some changes at local rollout level. Accordingly, set the attribute and pass on the same attributes to all layers below that node in one stroke (if the attribute is to remain the same for all contents underneath)
    3) The effect is in 'changeability' or the flexibility to adapt the scenario borrowed from Template to suit local rollout/implementation needs.  For instance, if the Global Template team has spent thousands of man hours in coming up with a Finance scenario that's Sarbanes-Oxley compliance or GRC proofed, with all local requirements already fed into the Template, it makes sense to define the Scenario or Process as 'Global' and expect all rollouts to make use of it exactly the same way.
If, on the other hand, there is a CRM/ SCM scenario on optimising Order fulfilment, an Asia-Pacific plant rollout may considerably differ in process steps from North American and such scenarios/ processes can be Initial or Local
    Trust this helps.

  • Global DEV/PRD

We are going to implement a complex SAP system which includes:
One Financial ECC (DEV-> QAS -> PRD)
    One Manufacturing ECC (DEV->QAS->PRD)
One Sales ECC (1 DEV -> 1 QAS -> multiple PRDs devided by organizations)
Each ECC runs its own proecesses, which means the configuration is not the same for 3 of them.
    My question:
    1) In this situration, is it necessary to build a global DEV in front of those 3 DEV systems?
    2) For sales ECC, system is planned to be devided by organization. My understanding is that Global Rollout is suitalbe for this situration, am I right? Global Rollout methodology supports 1 common DEV with multiple PRD systems? We do not want to build too much DEVs for Sales.
    3) We are going to manage Change Request by using SolMan, is it better to setup one maintance project or 3 individual projects for each of them?
    4) What is the best way to transfer CRs from Sales DEV to multiple Sales PRDs? Assume the configuration is the same cross Sales PRDs.
Thanks for your comment in advance.

The questions you ask are a consulting project each in themselves. Short answers to your questions are as below:
    1) For a global template rollout, the standard recommendation is to have a template d-q-p systems feeding several d-q-p user system landscapes. However, depending on your development and change processes - you can build your landscape as per your suggestion without the global dev system.
    2) When you say divided, does it mean multi client, or multi system? How are you planning on handling your end to end testing requirements with a single QA and multiple Prods when the two systems are not identical? System refreshes? TDMS? In this scenario, you can have a single dev - but multiple QAs is your need. My suggestion would  be build Dev-QA(Multiple)-Consolidation(Template Consolidation)-Prod(Multiple) OR Dev-UnitTest-QA(Multiple)-Prod(Multiple)
    3) Its easiest to setup one maintenance project per transport track i.e in your case per production system - though you can setup everything in a single maintenance project.
    4) Implement the distibute transports functionality as defined in note 999944.
For supporting this landscape - make sure that you developers and functional configurators know how to use transports efficiently as well as how to maintain versions of programs across multiple prd systems. And best implement Cross System Object Locks to ensure multiple support requirements do not overlap in the development of a single object.
    Cheers,
    Pranav

  • BC set for Rollout

    Hi All
We are doing Global rollout, already 1st phase is live and 2nd in testing phase, 3rd is in realization phase.
Now the ask is to use BC set functionality so that in future we can find out where the system was at end of each rollout in terms of configuration.
1> We have separate development box for Release 1 so I can create BC set and copy all config for Release 1 and import to SolMan for future reference. How to achieve this?
2> Also for Release 2 and Relase 3 we have same development box. How to capture the config of Release 2 and Release 3 separately in different BC set.
Has anyone having any idea on the above 2 questions.
    Thanks
    Smita

I tried with the BC Set but it was not possible for me to make it work. Finally I have used Process Controlled Workflow (WS40000014).

  • What are the different type of projects

i mean how many different type of projects are there in sap implementation..
    what do you mean by,
    enhancement project
    rollout project
    development project
    support project
is there any thing else other than this?
    please clear my doubt.
    points would be rewarded.

    Implementation Project
Project to implement business processes in an SAP landscape.
Create a project structure from the business processes. You can either create a new project structure, or base it on one of the following:
One or more user or partner templates
    An existing project
Scenarios and configuration structures delivered by SAP
    An existing production solution landscape
    Template Project
A project to create a template.
A template makes your project structure, or parts of it, with its assigned objects (documentation, test cases, IMG activities), available to other projects.
You can lock templates, completely or partially, against changes when they are used in other projects. To use templates in other systems, transport them.
Template projects are especially suited to SAP partner solutions or global rollout.
    Upgrade Project
A project to upgrade existing systems.
In an upgrade project you can:
    Upgrade customizing: Upgrade existing functions
    and/or
    Delta customizing: Copy additional functions
    Optimization project
A project to optimize the flow of business processes, or the use of a software solution.
You can use optimization projects, for example, in SAP Services.
    Safeguarding project
A project to resolve a critical situation in the implementation or use of an SAP solution.
Safeguarding projects show the reasons for a critical situation and coordinate the steps required to resolve the problems.
    Maintenance project
A project to maintain a solution
in Change Request Management. The project contains all maintenance activities and urgent corrections of a solution.

  • Query Related to Business Connector

    Hi,
I'm currently working on Business Connector, which is new to me. I am going through the reference documents to understand the working of the same. However, the requirements have started pouring in.
As of now, I have the follwoing requirement.
I've a SAP Function Module say "Z1234" which is RFC enabled. To this FM, all export paramets which are passed are FIELDS, none are table(s).
Now what i require is to fetch this data into Business Connector by writing some code in Business Connector whose FRONT END is JAVA.
Can anyone in here help me to achieve this requirement?
    Suggestions welcomed.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rajesh

    HI,
I think Scenario based is better
    1)  It's more reasonable to manage your documentation with the business process since they are quite related
    2)  I suggest that you use the check out /check in functionnality to prevent the modification from multiple users at the same time
    3)  As the changes happen some time, which means you have to maintain the related document often, it would be a good idea to use the link but not the copy of document
    4)  In most case, i would insert documents of various types in different tabs like Trainning materials, project documentation, test in SOLAR02
    5) What's more, if all your user guides are uploaded to the Trainning material tab, you will be able to use the existant documents to supply the SOLAR_LEARNING_MAP, which in my opinion, simplifies a lot the tranning session of any global-rollout

  • HR Master Data : Track Changes

    Hi experts,
I am in a Global HR Implementation & Rollout Project. We are creating Outbound Interfaces for 3 countries to export pay, time and general data to the 3rd party systems in those local countries. (Payroll is outsourced there).
As well as sending New Joiners data every month, we need to send Changers data also to all those 3rd partys every month before the Payroll runs.
    I know 2 solution for this :
a).  Using Change Documents - Tcode : SCDO ..etc
    b).  Using the report RPUAUD00.
    Query :
1). Are these the only solutions ?
2). Whats the best solution for doing this for a Global Rollout project ? I need to track master data change for different countries for different set of Infotypes and fields. I need to send those Changers data as well as the New Joiners data through the Outbound Interface to all the local countries.
This year we are doing for 3 countires, next year for 9 more countries, etc. Whats the best solution keeping this in mind ?
    Restrictions :
1).  Our Client HRs dont want us to disturb the report RPUAUD00 as they use that regularlly and want the flexibility to configure the configs themselves.
2). If I must need to create and activate Change Documents for ALL individual fields, is there an easy way of doing this ?
Just want the best possible and feasible solution for this issue.
I will be please to allot point to anyone who gives a good solution.
Moreover will be Thankfull also !!
    Cheers.

Here is my 2 cents Advice
Iu2019d recommend you to write your own report . We are also running ITs changes report for two countries at the moment. From an audit and HR stands point, they donu2019t want us to play with "RPUAUD00" .
How I wrote report that it looks at last rec and latest rec and compares the changes dynamically and build up report. Change can be typo or any thing. You know what Iu2019m getting at  right ? If for example I put '.' , it also takes as change . These are certain things/define lines  you have  to discuss before developing a report .
As far as development is concern ,Iu2019d recommend you to develop report which create internal tables dynamically based on your IT number . You can look at the following FMs as a starting point
    RFC_read_table  ( dynamically build IT structure )
*Fm to compare record and give subrc = 1 and 2
      CALL FUNCTION 'ISB_RM_COMPARE_2_ITABS'
        TABLES
          DATA_ITAB  = REC
          CHECK_ITAB = REC1
        EXCEPTIONS
          NOT_EQUAL  = 1
          OTHERS     = 2.
    Good Luck !
