C7280 Expired Ink

have a C7280 printer that I only use a few times a month.  It, and the HP software supporting it are apparently very unhappy because the ink cartridges have ":expired"  It prints fine, but I'm sick of the frequent pop-up that demands I replace the ink cartridges due to calendar time only.  If I replace a set of perfectly good ink cartridges, it will be in another printer.  Is there a way to turn off this constant nagging?
Randall

Hi kgp-13
I understand you are getting the message that the ink cartridges have expired.
The new ones purchased is the date showing out of warranty also?
Please let me know.
Printing can continue without replacing the ink cartridge. Follow the instructions that appear on the HP product or on the computer.
Here is a document that provides information on why the Ink expiration message displays.

  • Can you use c7280 without ink

I have a HP C7280 all in one.  They don't sell and I don't have the ink for it.  I do want to use it as a fax machine and or scanner.  Is it possible to bypass all of the messages about expired and empty ink to use these featuers in a non-print mode?  It won't get past the first page of a fax becasue of the error message.
    Thanks!

There is not a way to bypass the ink requirements.  The Photosmart C7280 has permanent printheads that would be damaged with empty or expired ink.
Ink supplies for the C7280 are still available, either in retail or from HP SureSupply.

  • New Photosmart 5510 - expired ink

A few years ago I purchased a Photosmart 5510. The problem is, I did not try to set it up until this spring, about 2 years later and the "start up" ink had expired. I did not realize the ink had an expiration so I tried to use the cartridges that came with the printer.
Needless to say, I only made it to the "ink cartridges are expired" screen with this. My question is, is the printer ruined and is there anything I can do to make it work?
    Thanks.

Hello @JohnRCincy , and welcome to the HP Forums.
I see you have expired ink.  Due to the printer needing setup ink, I would recommend contacting HP directly to inquire about getting new setup cartridges.  You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide.

  • HP c7280 Oxc19a0035: Ink system Failure

Even after following steps provided by suggested support, after a printing few pages I get the same error again. And of course this happens after my warranty has expired. Is this a fixable problem or am I sunk? I have rebooted, reset and even sent it to a family member who does this sort of thing all day. The error messages are not always the same. Sometimes I just get the ink system failure message alone without the error code. More often than not when I try to reboot the printer it gets hung up and does not restart until the second or third time. Or As I try to properly reboot it, it tells me that I have not rebooted properly and to try again.
    Thanks in advance,

While it looks like your printer needs to be services there is also a thread with some suggestions out there with some results for this same issue. I have linked this thread this post. You will want to look at message 16 and 17 for what seems to be a resolution for your same printer. Hope this helps.

  • C7280 - black ink streaking issue

Setup - wireless C7280 through Linksys N router - 3 computers with drivers and HP software loaded, an XP, A Vista, and Windows 7
Problem happens when initiating print job from any of the computers -- pinting black and white text - it streaks --
    Have done successful alignment,
Have done sucessful diagnostic and all shows well.
Have cleaned print heads - when first cleaning done, the window says a page is to print - NO PAGE printed.  Option to click on done or Intermediate clean --- Chose the intermediate clean - says page is printing - again NO PAGE - choice of clean again or done - chose clean again - process repeated - same results.
Have also replaced the ink cartridge.  No success there either.
Unless anyone can suggest otherwise, I am down to the print heads or throw out the printer -
    Any sugguestions appreciated.

  • Expired Ink

Can I use ink that has passed the expiration date on the carton?
The carton says:  SINGAPORE JUL 2010
    And it's now May, 2011.
    Thanks in advance!

This model does not enforce any expiration date.  You can try using the 99 cartrdige.  Be aware that while there is no cartrdige expiration that prevents use of old cartridges in printers that use the 99 cartrdige that there is a shelf life.  Old cartridges may have missing colors, especially if they were stored under unfavorable conditions.
If the cartridge does not print properly you may need to run a cleaning cycle from the toolbox or clean the cartridge contacts.

  • C7280 NEW INK CARTRIDGES NOT RECONIZED

I bought a pack of all new ink cartridges. I was only going to replace the ones that were empty but after I got errors saying that the dark blue was now too empty I decided to change them all to new. It still says that the dark blue is empty and the dark pink one went from almost empty to totally empty. It tells me on the main screen that I cannot print because the blue one is empty but not the pink one. BUt if I go to the ink levels it shows both are empty. All of them are new. I tried to do this reset solution that I found on another post that has to do with holding down the # and 6 and that didn't work at all. I do see that there is a little splash of blue around the blue cartridge. I seriously need to get the printer working because I have to print out shipping labels. Thanks to anyone that can help me out.

    Hi dizdevil1
What results do you get when you check the ink levels?

  • HP c7280 363 ink cartridges status

    Hi,
after installing new ink cartridges, the status page often shows they are not full, and installation date shows 6 days earlier than i installed. Why?
Screenshot below shows present date and install dates, and shows the newly install Magenta is about 80% full.
    Cheers.

Hello secretcyril, welcome to the forums!
I read your post about installing a new magenta and it showing as installed earlier than the date it was actually installed, and the ink levels lower than what it is for the same cartridge.
Thank you for the screen shot by the way!
I would suggest removing all of the ink cartridges, power resetting the printer (unplugging the printer power from the rear and wall outlet for 60 seconds and plugging it back in), then reinstalling the ink cartridges.
After the printer is started back up, print out a test page:
Press setup and press the down arrow to highlight Print Report and select OK.
Press the down arrow again and select Self-Test Report and press OK.
The page should now print out and show ink levels.
I hope that helps and shows a more accurate reading!
    Have a great Wednesday

  • HP OFFICEJET PRO x476dw/X576dw ink expiration?

Anyone know if the new officejet pro x476dw/x576dw series printers have expiration periods on their installed ink cartridges?
I am considering the model as home office laser replacement.  My printing workload is unusall in that it is infrequently heavy.  I am after a durable device and this option provides a route away from toner dust and a cleaner home office environment.
    Thanks.

The inks in this printer do not expire. Here is HP's official statement on ink 'expiration': Ink Expiration - none of the Officejet Pro X-series printers are listed. The date on the ink cartridge is the date the warranty ends. The printer will stop when an ink cartridge runs out of ink.

  • How do I override expired black ink cartridge error on d145

My All in One d145 printer started to show a black ink supply expired error.  I replaced the old black ink cartridge with a new one but it too is expired.  It was new and still in plastic so the ink should still be good.  When I get the error the message window says to hit enter and continue printing but then it just sits there (and doesn't print).  I have to cancel the print job to get back to the time and date window.  How can I override the expired ink supply error.
I have tried to reset the computer date but this doesn't work (seems like a lousy workaround anyway).  Neither does resetting the printer date (in fax settings).
I've read something about resetting the internal clock battery in the printer but am not sure if this will work on a d145 or how to do it.
I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO GO OUT AND BUY A NEW INK CARTRIDGE - the one I have now was new and in protective plastic.
HELP me to make it work.  And Thanks

This is the only place in the entire HP world that I have found any mention of expiry dates, the tables are what I have been looking for in relation to a deskjet 3050 and cartridge 301 which I am considering buying. Where can I access this information for the 3050/301 combination?
The ink expiration is only an issue for printers with separate ink supplies and printheads.  There is no expiration with the Deskjet 3050 or the 301 cartridge.   There is an "end of warranty" for these supplies as described here, but that is not an expiration.  The cartridges have a shelf life, for longest life in storage keep the package oriented as it would be hanging on a store display and keep away from heat sources during storage.  I have used similar cartridges years beyond their end of warranty without issues.

  • Expiring date ink

    Hello HP,
You talk about striving for a sustainable world by helping to improve the environmental performance of our customers.
You have the most irritating, non consumer friendly, even non environmental friendly way of selling your ink wich have an (commercial, profit based) expiring date. Most of the ink tablets i throw away because it is not or hardly used, for it reaches its expiring date constantly.
Do not use an argument that the ink really needs an expiring date for its quality, it is just profit driven, but sooo bad for environment, and more over, too expensive.
My next product will never be HP again, or i only will by imitation ink products like e.g. media markt has without expiring date.
Please change this non -consumer/-environment friendly habit. It irritates consumers wich will not be client again.

    Hi Kaele
Which printer model do you have? Are you getting an Expired ink msg?
BTW, there is lots of info on recycling cartridges in the link below...

  • C7180 Ink Failure Message

I have gotten the message of error # Oxc18a0206 and I can't find that anywhere on HP's website.  I don't have $20 bucks just for someone to tell me what this message means.  Please help.  It won't even make a photocopy or ready itself to print.  It says to check the manual.  I did and nothing addresses this issue.  Please help!

thanks for the help.  unfortunately it did not work.  i think this printer just refuses to print with so-called "expired" ink.  i don't use it that often and can't afford to replace 7 ink cartridges just to be able to print in black.  but apparently it makes you do that. ug.  i guess i have a paperweight now.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus will not print

My 2 month old printer will not print unless I open and close the print cartridge door. The printer screen says it is printing, but nothing happens. I have followed all of the steps on line, but nothing works. Anyone else have this problem?

Does your printer display "Printing..." on the control panel, but never prints?
I had such a problem. The only way I could get mine to print was to unplug the power cord and plug it back in.
I found the problem was an "expired" ink cartridge.  I replaced the cartridge with a new one and the problem went away.  Check your ink cartridge statuses by using the Control Panel functions.  If you see one that is expired (my panel displays a yellow exclamation mark on that cartridge's icon), try replacing it and see if the problem goes away.
My problem occurred whenever the printer went into "standby" mode.  I think when it wakes up it checks the cartridges and when the firmware finds an expired cartridge it locks up.  Just an educated guess.
Good luck!  And if this helps, please click the Kudos button for me.
