Calculating route ... forever

Hi - I recently went on a trip to the states. I'd used maps navigation before in UK and france so I downloaded the US maps and signed up for 30 days navigation.
When I got out there, I tried to plan a route but whenever I did(and I tried several times), all I got was 'calculating route'. I had a strong GPS signal so that was not the problem. Some of the times I left it for up to half an hour but still no joy.
I've no idea if the issue was with the phone, the maps or the navigation but either way the money I spent on the navigation was totally wasted. I've had a look but there doesn't seem to be any contact details. I want my money back! Anyone know who I should be contacting?
I've got an N95 8gb and was running Maps V2.0 wk32b04.

If you have used it before without this problem, then there must be a root cause. Has it worked since you have been back?
They don't normally give refunds for small amounts, but when something similar happened to me the did some troubleshooting and eventually offered me another 30 day licence as a 'goodwill gesture'.
You just have to call their customer support line.

  • Problem about Calculating Route

    Hi Guys...
I Bought Nokia N78 with 90 days free license
When I pressed 'Drive to' I've stuck in Calculating Route
    What Is the Solution?
    N78 OWNER
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This problem can also be caused by corrupt map data.
To fix this issue, you first have to delete the current map data. Using File Manager, delete the "Cities" folder on your memory card/mass storage.
Then start up the Nokia Maps application so that it recreates the folder and file structure required for the map data.
Finally, reinstall your map data and voices to the phone using Map Loader.
The latest version of Map Loader can be downloaded from

  • Calculating router downtime due to power !

    Hi all experts .
I need to calculate router downtime due to power failure in remote locations.  I was thinking of doing it like this
    1) Do show clock every five minutes and append the result in a file in Flash
    2) Suppose router gets down and get back up after one hour. Do show clock and append the output with keyword "Reloaded"
Can someone help me write the EEM applet pls ?
Also let me know if there is any better trick to achieve the above. All of my routers are 1841/1801 with the following IOSs
    1) c1841-advsecurityk9-mz.124-20.T.bin
    2) c180x-adventerprisek9-mz.124-20.T

    i tried the following applet
    event manager applet uptime
    event timer cron name uptime cron-entry "0/1 * * * *" maxrun 20
    action 1.0 cli command "enable"
action 2.0 cli command "show clock | append flash:uptime.txt"
and also did debug event manager action cli but simply no output. Nor the uptime.txt is getting updated. Do i need something else in order to make this applet run ?

  • Transit time calculation Route

    Hi,
I have an issue in determining the delivery date for an STO.
My route is maintained as XXX--02 which is 2 days transit time and is correctly getting determined in the STO, however the delivery date is not correct on the STO
Order created date is 11th july
    Material availability is 12th July
trnspt pllng/Load date is 12th July
Goods issue date is 13th July
Considering 13th july as goods issue date and route with 2 days transit time should determine 15th july as the delivery date, however I am getting 14th july as the delivery date instead of 15th.
Can you please let me know if this is something that you have seen before? and any suggestions.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Please check if delivery scheduling is active and 2 days has been defined in route determination under transit time.
The planned GI and Actual GI dates also play an important role in delivery date determination.
If you are just creating a sales order create a delivery for it and check what is determined.
    Regards,
    Amit

  • 6110 notes: Route 66 and Nokia Map (Smartogo) in a...

    Hi,
Just sharing some observations after trying out the two maps for navigation in a city.
    a) Responsiveness: Route66 is definitely more responsive in re-routing once you drive off the recommended route. It typically provide new directive immediately, whereas Nokia map will take a couple of seconds for recalculations.
    b) Quality of re-route: When a route is missed, Route66 seems to provide more 'human-like' new route. Whereas, Nokia Map seems to work on partial re-route, and try to find the "next possibility" with the objective to make a "U-turn" to get back to the previous calculated route. The difference is important in real life, since making U-turns in an un-familiar location can be dangerous, but more importantly, can dis-orientate most people who are not adept in navigation in the first place. So, Route66 seems to be smarter than 'smartogo' on this respect.
    c) User interface: Nokia Map (smartogo) seems to be lacked of the short-cut keys that Route66 already provice (such as key 5, 6 etc). Also, the satellite info page seems rudimental.
However, the screen layout of the Nokia Map seems more useful than Route66, but Route66 has more fancy graphics. So, it is clear that Route66 has been optimised for novice in navigation, making it as easy as possible.
    d) Voice navigation: Route66 seems to be straight-to-the-point, i.e. clear instruction. Nokia Map tends to be a bit more chatty and delayed. For example, quite frequently, it would say "next possibility", which is useless, except seems to project to me that it is not sure. Also, by the time it finished saying 'possibility', you already missed the turn out.
When one is on the road and decide to rely on the voice navigation, just tell me what to do at the right time, cut out the sweet talks.
    e) Landmark management. This one, Nokia Map is definitely one up.
Well, it seems that Route66 is the way to go at this point since it seems a more mature product. However, I think Nokia Map has many tricks up the sleeves, it seems, especially in terms of integration with other applications.
I still love google map for the satellite view, nothing can beat having a preview of the terrain of the route one selects. However, this is not for everybody, I admit.

I find Route66 also tends to keep trying to send me back to the route it initially calculated for far too long after I've diverted off - usually to avoid traffic jams.
The one feature I would really like on Route66 - and which I always assumed would be in any routing software - is a "find me another route that avoids this road" option. Can't understand why that one isn't available as the code that handles the real time traffic data could easily be adapted to do it.

  • Nokia Maps wont route to certain places !!

    Hiya
Can someone please try this for me ?
Can you please try and route from GPS and Route to Loftus
See if you can get a route because mine gets stuck at Calculating route and I am wondering if I have an issue with my version
I dont know how many other places mine wont goto but this is a regular one.
Loftus should come up as Redcar or Saltburn when it finds it and is in the UK
    Thx
    Paul

I won't beat about the bush here, nokia maps is *bleep*
If I open the maps application and let it find a GPS signal as im driving along, the map on the handset is upside down ie if im travelling south the cursor on the map is travelling north it is following the route im going but the map is upside down, the GPS should recognise which way im going and turn the map correctly. Only when I plan a route does it correct itself and show the map the correct way up
Also, I have maps for Latvia installed on my mem card and if i zoom into street level and copy one of the major street names in Riga exactly as its spelt on the map then go back to search to search for that street it finds no results, it doesnt matter how many different ways i spell it it can't find it, many addresses I have searched for in Riga and it cant find them, yet when i zoom into the map and find it manually it is there, I'm off to Germany in December for the xmas markets (bah humbug) I have not yet installed the maps for Germany but I wonder if i will have the same problem
Moderator note: Please do not try to get around the bad language filter.Message Edited by michaels on 02-Oct-2007 12:28 PM

  • Transferred route from Nokia Maps to phone not the...

I planed a route on the Nokia Maps site with a couple of waypoints and some options (no toll roads, no motorways) to get it the way I wanted.
Then I did the synchronization of favorites on the phone and the route was there. But when I tried to open the route on the phone the "Calculating route" message appears and the route that shows up is COMPLETELY different from the one on the Nokia Maps: different roads, strange ways to get to the waypoints, ... In short I can not use this route on the phone as I would like.
Is there a way to transfer complete route AS IS from Nokia Maps to the phone Maps application?

Well I don't get it - why is there a need to do the route calculation twice? I would expect that once the route is calculated on a PC (including the directions) it would be transferred in some kind of way to the device as is (like transferring gpx files to the GPS device).
Anyway, even if it is so that the device recalculate the route once again I really don't understand why the same route gets completely different shape on the device then on the PC/Web. One would expect the calculation from the same provider (Nokia Maps) yields the same results regardless of where it is executed.

  • Time machine calculating size

Time machine calculation size forever (at least all night) and never concludes.  Have to force reboot to recover.  MAC os 10.7.4.

This simple procedure will clear your Time Machine settings, including both overt and hidden exclusions. The backups won't be affected. If you have a long exclusion list that can't be recreated easily, you may prefer a more complicated procedure that preserves the exclusion list. In that case, ask for instructions. Otherwise, do as follows.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with a file selected. Copy it to the Desktop. Then move it (the original, not the copy) to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your administrator password. Reboot, recreate your settings in the Time Machine preference pane. It will show that you have no backups. Don't be alarmed; that's expected. Run a backup to test. If TM now performs as expected, delete the file you copied to the Desktop.

  • Problem with maps on e72

    Hi everyone
I've got a problem with maps on my E72.
I've seen advert that Nokia is going to let everyone use maps for free on selected models.
I was going to buy Sat Nav for whole Europe as I travel a lot and I was going to change my old N95. I thought I could do both in one new phone. Checked all the available models and chose E72. It said it;s got GPS and you don't need to use your network and spend fortune on internet connection. Got it from eBay for £270.
I installed Ovi Maps from internet and the first thing that surprised me was it had 'only' 7-8MB.
I thought that something was wrong, maps for 72 countries couldn't be 8MB big.
After some time I managed to set my e72 up. Put my Maps on and...
It takes loads of time to find GPS connection, but the worst thing is if I type lets say Paris it doesn't find anything. Map has wholes, like suddenly the roads end and there's nothing there.
My question is what am I doing wrong? Do I need to download something more? I didn't have any maps on my phone when I bought it. Where can I find them?
If someone could help I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks a lot.

I forgot to mention that when I choose a destination it keeps saying Calculating route all the time. I waited about 15 minutesand it didn't calculate anything.

  • HP all in one C309a: Error message: Wireless Radio is not functioning. Contact HP support

Today all of a sudden, a 2 year old HP Photosmart C309a All-in-One printer is not longer connecting to my local Wireless Home Network. There is no change to network configuration to the TLink 3000 hub that I was using. All other clients (Mac OX, Vista, Ubunta 11.1, various versions of iOS and Android Icecream Sandwich) have no problem connecting to the same hub. No change to the network configure on the Printer. The machine have been standing as a stand alone machine and connected wirelessly to the network since day one in the corner of my office. Its within range of my router. I ran Wireless Network Test report to see what's going on. The title says "The Wireless Radio is not functioning. Contact HP Support" . Any number of reboot cycle didn't help. Out of frustration, I press "reset back to Factory Setting" on the printer. I did that, and then press "Wireless Network Wizard", and it was on "Searching for Wireless Router" forever... What opinions do I have? Get a new printer? or use good old 10-base T network cable to hook up the machine?

My HP C309a had exactly the same problem.  Everything I found on the internet said that the printer could not be fixed and the only solution was to buy a new printer. The printer report said the wireless radio was not functioning. A factory reset did not fix the problem either. I had a problem with my HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop with the video graphics IC.  The solution for that fix was to do a solder reflow of the graphics IC.  Did it and fixed the problem. I figured maybe the same fix would work on my printer as I didn't have anything to lose at this point.  I located and removed the wireless radio board in the printer (on the left side upper right corner). I then did a solder reflow on BOTH sides of the board. I put the board back into the printer and wa-la, it connected immediately to the network. It has been functioning with no problems now for at least four weeks now (knock on wood). Hope this helps.

  • Nokia N95 8 Gigs "The Phone that got forgotten"

    Dear Nokia Support,
After I have bought this phone, I was not as please with the price and over all service that I have received from Nokia. I didn't care that it was expensive, but the service... Lets me begin where I have bought this phone for over 24,500 baht (Central World Power Buy, Bangkok, Thailand) [new copper color, N95 8 gigs]. I've bought the phone for the look, services, GPS system, but I am sorry to say that I didn't get any of that.
Lets start from the back; the GPS system. It takes so long to get the sat. lock, not even counting the time to calculated route, I was confirm with the Nokia Customer care that it will be resolve when I upgrade the firmware to 20 something. Unfortunately, when I have upgraded my phone, the phone act very weird and GPS function take even longer than it was before; even with the aids of GPRS where it should have taken only a few mins if not less. It would taken over 5. (this function become obsolete for me, as it is not helping me in anyway)
Secondly, as it was claim on the website of Nokia that Nokia have the best Care service. It was not for me, at first it was ok, as I was in the shop to get my phone firmware update, i got premium services and being taken care off right way. The reason that I was in the shop the first time was because I was using the Windows Vista at home, Nokia Care software was not support it (talk about up to date??) The second time however was different (MBK, Bangkok, Thailand) I didn't show my phone like the first time, I simply told them that my phone need fixing. My N95 screen went blank all of the sudden, I could make call normally but I could not see anything on the screen. One of the customer rep. told me that it would take 3 hours to fix the phone. So I was very please that I was being taken care off. Before I am going further, I would like to add that I have only use this phone for little over 3 months, I have never drop the phone or expose to any wet condition, and I have always keep the phone in the leather pouch that I bought for it. Now, back to the story. One of other rep, came over and told me that she could not find me on the system and I would need my recipt to get my phone service... (wait.. I bought this phone to 3 months, yet already have service here once.. and I still need a recipt??? I was very **bleep** at that point as the way they are saying that I would not get my phone services for I have not have my recipt... eventually she went to the back and finally saw me on the system. At that point she gave me a different answer than the rep. that he was handle me before, she said this phone need to be send to the center and it will take over 2 weeks for it to be fix. After argue for a while, she said that she will need to ask the tech. and she got back to me and say that she will have the tech. try to do something to the phone (I guess replacing some hardware) for 3 hours and she will either get back to me or I have to come back in 3 hours. After 3 hours has passed, I came back to the Nokia Care Shop and ask for the status of my phone, and found that they were waiting to talk to me about the phone. She said the phone have some water stain inside, and it will not be handle by Nokia as it is void the service agreement (well, my phone have not been anywhere near water or drop anywhere, the only reason this happend is only maybe from the my sweat.) and it is going to cost me over 2,200 baht to fix the phone as water mark void the service agreement.... well my phone was void because of normal use.. and it has only been 3 month. I guess Nokia is not for me, as I can't even sweat when using the phone. and I am not talking about a lot of sweat either, because my office is always in the air conditional Building. It was not as bad if she have called me faster to lets me know this other than letting me hang around for 3 hours and ask for the status. Now I have to wait 2 weeks. This is what I got from the best of service care in thailand. Furthermore, I know I could have just walk to the other end of the mall and get my phone for maybe half the price and possibly in less than an hour. Maybe I was stupid....
That was it, maybe it was my mistakes to even pick this phone from the begining, it wasn't cheap, changing it to a dollar is over 700 dollars phone. I was left with no choice, the phone is in parts in their hand. In order to fix my phone I will have to pay for the repair... or else I would just lost that 24,500 baht that I have just invested on the phone for merely 3 monthes. I will mark that Nokia is not for me and I will never buy anymore of Nokia Product. Expensive yet not user friendly. As soon as I got my phone back from the service, I am just going to sell it.
    Soravis,
    very disatified customer of Nokia

    Check these:
    (1) Phone software version - v20 and up have better GPS handling than earlier versions, if you have earlier than that then update.
    (2) Maps application version - if you have v1.2, update to v2.0 (this version will be inbuilt if your phone can update to software version 30 anyway) - this version is much improved.
    (3) This model has its GPS receiver positioned beneath the keypad, rather unusually, so make sure you have the slide open when using GPS.

  • Ovi maps 3 on E71

I installed version 3 - the drive to function calculates a route if I am online but returns Route Not Found if offline
the previous version calculated routes perfectly offline - what is the problem please?

Well... i am using E71 offline only, and it does calculate routes.
My guess.... did you install maps with the MapLoader-Utility on your phone, in order to have maps available when being offline?

  • (GPS) coordinates in Contacts interoperability problem with Maps

I have noticed that using lat/long coordinates works fine in Maps to search for addresses with nameless streets. The address can also be added to a contact. When trying to locate an address from Contacts a problem is that Contacts always add the country to the coordinates and Maps doesn't like that.
If I search for "59.871859,17.527034" in Maps, it takes me to a nameless road in Uppsala, Sweden. I can then add that address to a contact, and the address becomes "+59°52'18.69", +17°31'37.32". When I later press this address in Contacts it appends a seemingly random country to the address, so in my case the address becomes "+59°52'18.69", +17°31'37.32 United States", which Maps doesn't like. If I manually delete the country part in Maps and search again it works fine. The strange thing is that if I edit the address the country is set to Sweden.
Is there a way to have Contacts not add the country to the address it feeds to Maps?
I'm using 1.1.3 firmware in my 16G touch btw.

I forgot to mention that when I choose a destination it keeps saying Calculating route all the time. I waited about 15 minutesand it didn't calculate anything.

  • Navigation with Nokia Maps crash (N95 8Gb)

    Hi All.
Does anyone have this problem, when the Nokia Maps start Navigation and is calculation route, Crash !
    Thanks,

Here's my brand new, maps crashing issue; For some bizzare reason, I thought I'd try to use a-gps. I've always had pretty good luck with the thing syncing but it could be better.
I recently came to Germany and got a MOBI (vodafone) sim card and I set vodafone live as my provider. It didn't seem to be any faster so I went into setting, (in maps) and tried to turn it off.
The problem is; I can't. When I go into Maps settings and click on Network, it shuts off Maps or reboots the phone. Now, whenever I turn on maps, it logs onto vodafone and burns off all of my credit in about 5 minutes...and I can't turn it off and I can't use maps without using all of my expensive credit.
It's really **bleep** me off. This is the first software issue I've had with this thing and I have no idea how to solve it. I've gone into Tools>General>Positioning methods and only have Integrated gps checked but it's still logging on.
It's a real pain. If I could remember my lock code, I'd reset everything to default.
    Any idea...?
    Thanks
