Calculation in BEx on Hierarchy Link Nodes

Hello everyone. I am working on a BEx query that involves a hierarchy based on Controlling Area, Cost Center, and Cost Element. There is a case where I have 5 Cost Elements that belong to 2 Cost Centers. I can successfully create the duplicate nodes at the different Cost Center levels and activate the hierarchy. Where I am having difficulty is assigning a percentage factor to the key-figure at the parent-node (80%) and the link-node (20%). The high-level node at CO_AREA is correct. However, the COST_CENTER nodes show the total original value. I would like to apply these factors dynamically in the BEx query. I have tried structures and cell definitions and was able to apply the 80% and 20% factors correctly to the corresponding hierarchy nodes. Unfortunately, the amounts are not broken down as I would like to see them.
I have looked at the documentation on "Link Nodes" and "Modeling Nodes and Leaves: at help.sap.com.

"For both duplicate leaves and leaves in subtrees under link nodes, the values of the duplicate leaves are only considered once by the system internally. When aggregating, the system automatically calculates what are called correction leaves for the superordinate node.

I'm wondering if it is even possible to do what I would like to accomplish.
I would appreciate any feedback and suggestions on how to solve this issue if you have done something similar.

Maintain the link node in a hierarchy

Hello,
I have loaded 2 hierarchies H1 and H2 from ERP system and maintained a hierarchy Z in BW consists of H1 and H2. The node names are exactly the same of the 2 loaded hierarchies. Now I want to maintain the “link node flag” for the 2 nodes H1, H2.
When I maintain the hierarchy this field is only displayed (and it is blank).
How can I change this field to ‘X’.

Account dimension hierarchy text nodes ACCTYPE property

Hello,
We have master data being populated into BPC from BW. So for the Account dimension in BPC, we use the 0GL_ACCOUNT infoobject in BW. This infoobject also has all the Financial statement version hierarchies which are being loaded to BPC. The question that I have is, how should the hierarchy text node values for ACCTYPE property be populated if I have to automate this load on a daily basis.
For the actual GL accounts, we have the account number ranges defined. Like 1* series accounts are Assets etc..So we can easily define a rule for populating the ACCTYPE property values. But not sure if there is any easy logic for populating the hierarchy text nodes as we dont have any pattern in them. Would we need to maintain it manually always?

If there is really no logic behind them there is off course no way of automating this. Then I guess you will have to maintain each node separately.
Some customers are also willing to change their text node structure. For example I had one when where the rules for the 0HIER_NODE records were as follows:
*           EXP -> Starts with 32*, 311*, 312*, 321*, 3111*, 3112*,
*                  3142*, 31111*, 31112*, 311111*
*           INC -> Starts with TOT, 3000000000, 3100000000, 313*,
*                  322*, 3113*, 3141*, 31113*, 311112*
*           AST -> Starts with 1*
*           LEQ -> Starts with 2*

How to import hierarchy text node from BW infoobject

I tried to import hierarchy from BW InfoObject through process chain /CPMB/IMPORT_IOBJ_HIER.
But BPC complains the hierarchy text node haven't been dimension member.
As result, I have to export the hierarchy text node to a flat file and import again which is not convenient.
Does anyone have some best practice for this?

Hierarchy link between configure material & configured material (VC Issue)

We have a configurable material A770 and we have a configured material ZA720
The configurable material A770 has 1500 components and these 1500 components has inturn has assemblies & subassemblies
Is there any way, we can find out the hierarchy link between configure material A770 & configured material ZA 720 i.e. we are not able to find parent material of ZA720
We tried looking into Tcode CS11 & CS15, it was not much help
Note: In CS03, when entered configured material ZA720 it display error message BOM can only be displayed via configurable material A770

You have configarable material A770 and you have a semifished material ZA720 which has one of the material variant, if that is the case it will have its own std bom and routing.

Thanks for the link, it is indeed a good example. However, whilst it has some interesting points, it seems to narrowly skirt around the issue i am having (as do most examples in fact).
Perhaps i should have been more clear that the problem i am having relates specifically to entities that have already been persisted, and all i am trying to do is edit them. In the example you sent, if bean-validation fails then the entity is not persisted, so no problems. However, when editing an already persisted entity, form submissions trigger an automatic database update via the EntityManager (provided JSF validations are passed), so my real problem is avoiding this.
Any input appreciated.

YTD calculation from BEx is not working in Advance Analysis for OLAP/OR Office

I have AA for OLAP based on BEx. There are YTD calculation in BEx Designer: User enters Period in variable, and in user exits, the Period Range is populated as "1 ~ UserEnteredValue" in second variable. In BEx, YTD is calculated based on the Restrictive KF for the period range, calculated in User Exit. This is working fine in BEx Analyzer, however in Advance Analysis (for OLAP OR in Ofice), the YTD value is not coming up they way it is in BEx Analyzer...
Anybody has any clue, why??

If something is working for BEx Analyzer but not for Analysis OLAP or Analysis Office then this typically (but not always) indicates an issue with the BICS (BI Consumer Services) component.
I would suggest you contact support about this so the appropriate logs can be captured and the issue investigated by the BICS team.

SAP BEx - Reporing - Hierarchy - nodes repead the details

I got the problem, that I want to create a BEx Query which got in the rows a characteristic with a hierarchy and below an oher one without hierarchy. For every different entity in the second characteristic I got the corresponding number of records under the sheet of the hierarchy. That is ok. In the notes of the hierarchy the system will not aggregate on the basis of the first characteristic entities. That is also ok, but in my case not required. I went through all the settings and checkt the help and the sdn without success.
The following solution is also not helpful:
- The second characteristic would be an attributes of the first one
A solution will be appreciated.

I want to achieve, that the nodes (hierarchy of the first characteristic) show one row with the aggregated value. So the entities of the second characteristic on the level of the sheets are not considered on the level of the corresponding nodes. With other words, the hierarchie shows only the detail of the second characteristics on the level of the sheets.
Hope this clarify my requirements. I appreciate any ideas.

In BEx, how to display hierarchy Upper Node with selected Lower Nodes only

Currently I am displaying the Cost Centre (GFL Responsibility Cost Centre) hierarchy in a workbook. I want to be able to filter on this hierarchy dynamically. E.g. the upper node must be displayed including the rolled up results for this node, together with a selection of the lower nodes e.g 2 nodes ( not all the lower nodes related to the upper node must be displayed in the query).
What's possible when filtering :
To filter on the 2 lower nodes only ( results are displayed as required)
Not possible:
When I include the higher node of the 2 lower nodes in the query, All the lower nodes of the higher node are displayed, and the filter selection of the lower nodes are over written.
This is logically what's expected when the higher node is included in the filter.
Creating a hierarchy variable gives the same problem, I am not able to filter on the hierarchy nodes as required.
 Upper Node
 Lower Node1 LowerNode2 LowerNode3
Filter the report for UpperNode and LowerNode 2 & 3 only

Do you want to show particular node or particular level ?
If you want particular node , then create hierarchy node variable and restrict to that node ( 3rd node)
If you want particular level, what does that mean say i am taking employee hierarchy and the hierarchy is as below.
Ihe setting that we have is to expand upto n levels but if yiou say i need level 2 what does that mean and how do you want to show in report ?
 A -
(level 1)
 B,C,D( --child of A ) --- level 2
 E(Child of B), F(Child of C) -
level 3.

Hierarchy: Postable node (or not) in Flat file

Hello Experts,
I have read several times, the links you provided on this subject and they were very helpful but I am still stuck here:
If I am loading a hierarchy through a flat file, how do I specify which of these nodes are postable and which are not?
I know the Leave notes are postable, but my issue is with the various interval nodes
For example, in this Customer profit center hierarchy ....

RegB---6000 / 7000
Any help on this flat file will be appreciated. Where I have ???, I only meant I have doubts but I think it should be 0ProfitCtr.

In the hierarchy flat file you only need to specify the parent node of a row. That way your hierarchy will get linked. That is how we load our flat file hierarchies and it works perfectly.

SAP BI - Hierarchy Characteristic Node key not displaying Web Analyzer

I am using 0COMP_CODE as a characteristic node in my 0COSTCENTER hierarchy. Using BEx analyzer works fine, but in Web Analyzer the 0COMP_CODE key shows as a "#" in a query display regardless what I set the characteristic or hierarchy node to display.

If S0001 is a subtree node of A0003, then change the 'type of authorization' to 1 (subtree below node) for A0003 in your analysis authorization. Currently in your case, I guess its 0- selected node only (default type).

Variable to store a result of a complex calculation in bex query

Hello all,
I've got a query in BEX with some key fields to display and also need to perform some calculations not supported in bex formulas.
I think this could be made in a BEX user exit and I'm trying this by creating a project in CMOD assigning EXIT_SAPLRR0_001... Working with INCLUDE ZXRSRU01 and so on.
I just want to know if this is possible this way because I execute my query and the variable created never get any value at runtime.
Could anybody help me or give an idea on how to use BEx user-exits?

Error in BO Webi using Authorization analysis in Bex with hierarchy display

Hi Experts ,
When we run the WEBI report created on bex query which has 0comp_code restricted with characteristic variable of processing type Authorization and Not ready for input.
The hierarchy display is active in Bex (as we want to see L01, L02.... in webi)
The authorization analysis is working perfectly when I test in Bex analyser (at any drill down level).
But in BO webi, I get below error
The database error text is: The supplied XML is not valid. [char name & Level].
I dont get this error when I deactivate hierarchy display in Bex.
Also I dont get this error for user ids having 0BI_ALL
Please help me to resolve this.

You can achieve this by dragging these two fields in the filter bar section of the webi. then apply variables on these fields.

Calculations Translation- Bex vs Transformation

Hello gurus,
here is the line that I d like to translate in BW, and I d like to know what's the better way of implementing it in BW, is it in Transformation (formula/calculation), or in Bex.
result = (1/3) x (sum of prior 3 month balance from date entered) x (number of days in the past 3 months) / (sum of prior 3 month sales)
Assumption is that user 's input is 1 Month period. (please write the line in abap if you re thinking that it is easier).
