Calculation in Workbook

Hello Expert,
I am using two tabs in workbook. first tab has current month YTD data and second tab has previous month YTD data. now I want to calculate (G1-G2)column G1 from TAB1 and column G2 from. How can I achieve this. I want solution within workbook.
2 Query feeds into TAB1 & 2.
Please advice me in detail. Thanks in advance.

Go to tab 3, select the cell in which you want the result. Then in that cell type the formula
= 'TAB2'!G2 - 'TAB1'!G1
Replace the Tab2, Tab1, G2 and G1 with the names of your sheets and the cells containing the data.

Hello,
Is it possible to pre-calculate an Excel workbook using the Broadcast functionality of BW 3.5 and save the calculated workbook on the BW server itself. We don't want to send the workbook via e-mail or publish it on the portal. We just want the users to open the pre-calculated workbook from the BW server itself.

Using the BEx Broadcaster, you can precalculate and distribute Web templates, queries and workbooks. You can distribute these reporting objects either in precalculated form or as an online link. Your distribution options include sending by e-mail or exporting into the Enterprise Portal.

We just want the users to open the pre-calculated workbook from the BW server itself.
As far as i know,it's not possible(not sure), i haven't done that.. let's see a reply from other BW experts

Hi,
Open the Excel workbook and press ALT + F11. VB editor opens and you can write your piece of code and name it as Auto_open if you need that macro to automatically run when you open excel.
Second option is record macro, which will record the calculation and then call this macro everytime you need.

Help needed in calculations in Workbook for input query

hi friends ,
Iam displaying an input query in the Workbook ..the format of the query is
Account Amount
1010 Undistributed Amount $ 2000
1010 PC1
1010 PC2
1010 PC3
The use 0f this query is to distribute the undistributed amount for below 3 profit centers .When a amount is entered for PC1,the entered amount must be reduced from the undistributed amount .Bottom line is the undistributed amount must be refreshed everytime an amount is entered for PC1,PC2,PC3 and vice versa ..
I tried writing some excel formulas but no use .when the query is in edit mode i was not able to write the formulas to the cells.
Please give me your valuable inputs and help me getting this function work.

Hi,
We acheive the same requirement in our project by creating one more characteristic which will be derived from the changed record .You can refer the How to guide given below.Once you get the delta record then you can redistribute the same by using the FOX formula,taking the derived characteristic into aggregation level and checking for it's value.

For example: one WBS element span across three periods ,initially all with same amount ,if I change the value for one period the remaining amount should be equally distributed in remaining periods.Special characteristic value is "A" intially.Now if i change the amount for 010.2009 to 100,the remaining 500 should be equally distributed.
HEADER LINE.
WBS,Period,Zdelta,Amount
WBS1 010.2009 A 200
WBS1 011.2009 A 200
WBS1 012.2009 A 200
Now when I change the amount from 200 to 100 the negative delta will be posted to ZDELTA as"X" with the value -100.So now in the cube the records will be like:-
WBS1 010.2009 A 100
WBS1 010.2009 X -100
WBS1 011.2009 A 200
WBS1 012.2009 A 200
Now you can write the fox formula in which you can check the total amount will be less than the original amount.So now you can post the remaining amount to the records where ZDELTA dose not have the value X.

Can anybody tell does "pre-calculated" means static (for example, report has static data for Jan and cant be navigated for any other months) or it means that data is warmed up and I can change parameters of the report?

Corrupt workbook when sent through email

Hi,
I have setup a precalculation server on a Windows XPSP2 PC, installed Excel 2003SP3 and SAPGUI 640p24.
When calculating a workbook, it's created correctly (as I can open it on the client in the C:\Windows\temp folder), but the sent zip file with the workbook is corrupt.
The tracelog file shows the following entries at the end of the distribution:
BExCompression.SupportsCompression: Compression NOT supported
File or assembly name vjslib, or one of its dependencies, was not found.
BExConnect.Closed
When i display logs in transaction RSPRECADMIN I can see a lot entries with the following message:
DataTable iServerProperties DataTable iVarTable) Boolean[] CopyBack) String[] namedParameters)
and also:
Unresolved exception occurred on the precalculation server
I don't find any obvious problems in the BexPreCalcLog.
I have setup everything according to to the u201CHow Tou2026Troubleshoot Information Broadcasting (BEx Workbooks)u201D pdf.

However, when trying to execute the workbook now, I can see that on the remotePC where the PreCalc server is installed, Excel uses up almost 80mb RAM before excel returns an error in a popup saying:

Add workbooks to a batch run during night?

Hello there,
I have some workbooks. I would like to add these workbooks to a batchrun during night, so when i come next morning the batcrun already have calculated the workbooks. I want it to do it with a proces chain. I have heared that it is possible with the report agent. Can somebody help me?Ik would like to know how to do it.

In 3.5 you can precalculate workbooks within tcode rsprecadmin. For this a Bex precalulation service has to be defined (Basis has to arrang this).
In 7.0 you can scheduling for workbook precalculation via the broadcasting scenario.

Problem while refreshing the data for the second time using excel services in sharepoint 2013...

I have migrated my Sharepoint from 2010 to 2013.I am able to get the data at the first time of refresh when I click on refresh for the second time I am getting the empty the sheet.
below find the flow of refresh
First Refresh
On Click of refresh open the workbook with excel services and return the session id.
Using that session I am invoking RefrehAsync method of excel services
After refresh completed I am setting the calculation of workbook as automatic(to calculate the formulas) using the same session id
After setting the calculation as Automatic I am setting the calculation type as full(recalculate) using the same session id.
Now I am able to see the data
Second Refresh
After clicking on refresh instead of opening the workbook I am using the session id(already opened workbook) and setting the calculation type as manual
I am following the same process from refresh(RefreshAsync) as I have followed in first refresh.
This time my formulas are not getting calculated because of that I am not able to see the data.
Could you please let me know that am I missing anything here?
Is this know issue in Sharepoint2013 excel services as same code is working fine with Sharepoint2010.
If I close the workbook(session id null) and opens(new session id) for all the refreshes it is working and I am able to see the data.

I am able to see the data for the second refresh if I change the data source.If I use the same data source which is used in the first refresh I am not getting the data.Excel services will contact the cubes and calculate the formulas in my workbook.
Could you please let me know what could be the problem at second refresh while contacting the same data source with same session id?

Decimal Value looks funny

I've a group of cell format Number 2 decimal.
Sample: 409.45, -1000,00, 398.22, 110.53, 0.43, 168.46
I've another cell which is the sum of those cells, in the same format : equal to 87.09 (at the screen)
To see what I have really besides the presentation I(ve done a copy / special paste (choice is value) the cell of the sum into another cell.
If my sample the sum is and the marvellous number is : 87.0900000000001, even is the format is the same of the other cells.
What is the big problem, is that I have a lot of number and If I summ those all results, the new result becomes False !!!

As I mentioned, you can use the ROUND function to round the result of calculations to the desired number of decimal places.
There is one other option: select File > Options, then click Advanced.
Scroll down to the section 'When calculating this workbook'.
Tick the check box 'Set precision as displayed' and confirm. Then click OK.
Warning: this will store the values of all cells in this workbook as displayed. So if you set the number format to display 2 decimal places, the cell value will be stored with 2 decimal places. All non-displayed digits will be lost.

Discoverer 10g error when scheduling a workbook using 2 calculations

When I schedule in discoverer 10 g using 2 calculations it return this error ora-01722 Invalid Number
If I schedule the workbook with only one of the calculation it run perfectly.
If I run the query manually using the 2 calculations it run perfectly.
Calculation are created by me and do not have any error in the code
Same problem occur using DECODE or CASE.

I have a task to place the calculated workbook to the specified directory of the BW server or somewhere in FTP.
I use precalculation server and everything works well, and then requires that the BW server will finally saved this workbook on the server itself, or somewhere in ftp.
I do not need to send reports by mail or in the portal.
Do you have any ideas?

Two Queries In One Workbook With Calculations

Hi Guys,
Can you have 2 queries in one worksheet, either ran as a query or save as a workbook and calculation done at runtime. For example, query A and query B to show up in one sheet when you run query A. You now want a simple calculation done......for example.......A1 row from query A divided by B1 row from query B. The result to show up on the Key Figure structure in query A.

I am not sure about this but we had similar kind of requirement and what we did was,
One query in one tab, another query on second tab and we did key figure calculations on third tab of the workbook eg. Sheet1 A1 - Sheet2-A1 and the result was stored on sheet3.
We saved the workbook and used to refresh the same whenever we want to see new data.

Incorrect workbook results using pre-calculation server

I encounter problem running BW 3.5 workbook (Excel 2007) using pre-calculation server. The results show incomplete data, mostly of the time missing characteristic values. However, it works for one of the report.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tested with new workbooks inserted with new queries, and those are running OK manually. The workbook does not exceed 65k rows or 255 columns.
I discovered one of the workbook showing correct results except for calculation using function %A, so I suspect there is missing setting in Excel 2007 that has caused the macro not working properly.
Anything to share ?
