Call transfer from Lync 2010 attendant failing
Hello,
We are having an intermittent fault with a customer whereby calls into the Reception (Response Group, Attendant routing, Lync 2010 Attendant consoles) connect fine, and the first leg of the consultative transfer (to the internal extension) works fine, however
when the attendant tries to put the call through it pauses then bounces back with an option to retrieve. The call can be retrieved, she tries again and it goes through fine. Due to the high volume of calls this is becoming a massive issue which may result
in us having to remove Lync EV and install a traditional PBX, so any help would be appreciated. Here's the topology:
Lync 2013 Standard Edition
Audiocodes Mediant 1000 with SIP and ISDN30 PSTN lines
Aastra 6725ip Handsets
Lync 2010 Attendant Consoles
Here's a list of what's been tried currently (in no particular order):
Disabling media Bypass
Removing Refer to Gateway
Removing Centralized Media Processing
Upgrading Firmware of the Audiocodes
Upgrading the Aastra handset Lync PE to latest
Patching Lync 2013 Windows Client
Patching Lync 2010 Attendant Console (July 2013)
Rebuilding on Physical server as instead of Virtual
We have tried to capture the OCS Util logs from the FE but cannot see anything. In the monitoring and archiving reports I see this from the server:
52095; reason="Media session terminated on internal client error"
And this from the client:
52095; reason="Media session terminated on internal client error"; OriginalPresenceState="0"; CurrentPresenceState="0"; MeInsideUser="Yes"; ConversationInitiatedBy="0"; SourceNetwork="0"; RemotePartyCanDoIM="No"

CMS database move from Lync 2010 to 2013 went well but.....
Something odd when I was done. Everything went perfectly. No errors at all and went as expected. I noticed though after everything was done and I had not yet uninstalled the CMS from Lync 2010 that two services on the Lync 2010 were stopped but in an Automatic
startup state. They are the "Lync Server File Transfer Agent' and the "Lync Server Master Replicator Agent'. Thought it was odd they were both stopped. I am sure it had something to do with the CMS move and all the scripting that goes on. The rest
of the Lync services are running.
I am thinking though if they were supposed to be stopped, why not disable them. Why leave them at Automatic. I am not seeing any errors or warnings at all on the Lync 2010 or 2013 servers. Application, System and Lync Server logs are clean. Everything appears
to be OK.
Thing that concerns me though is when I run the Get-CsManagementStoreReplicationStatus on the 2013 FE, the databases all come back looking good with UpToDate = True but the last replication was last night (about 8-9 hours ago) shortly after I completed the
procedure.
I want to just uninstall the CMS on Lync 2010 which is the last step but I want to make sure everything is OK before I do. Not sure if I should start those services. I never rebooted the 2010 server after moving the CMS. Seems if I did, those services would
have tried to start. Very confused here.
Wanted to add also that I have both the above services on the 2013 FE server and they are both running. And, when I run Get-CsManagementStoreReplicationStatus -CentralManagementStoreStatus on my Lync 2013 FE, it says it is the active master and active file
transfer agent so maybe that is why the services are stopped? If so, what if I had rebooted the 2010 server. Those services would have tried to start because they are set to Automatic.
I guess the real question here is how often should the Lync servers being updating their replicas with each other. We have a very small environment right now with only a few hundred users. This process of transferring information updates from master to replica is called replication. The replication process consists of copying information between directories from the master to the replicas, applying the changes received to the
replica and report status back to the master.
The MASTER generates the data package containing new changes to CMS and stores a copy in each to-replica directory for every replica.
The data package must be copied to all replicas. All Lync Server 2013 servers, except the Edge Server, uses the Windows file copy SMB protocol mechanism to push the data package from the CMS master to the replica.
For Edge servers, since Edge servers is not a member of domain, the file copy is performed over an HTTPS channel. The Edge Server runs a Web Service on the port specified for the ManagementServices in the topology document. The default port is 4443. Even
you Move CMS store and CMS Master service from 2010 to 2013, the replication is a logical concept so you can replicate CMS information with the help of Lync server 2013 CMS master service.
You can refer to the link below, it is for Lync server 2010 but similar for Lync server 2013:

Moving CMS from Lync 2010 to Lync 2013 - WIndows Firewall??
We currently have the Windows Firewall disabled on all 3 of our Lync 2013 FE servers. We just don't use it and it gets in the way of some other applications. I remember when I was installing Lync on these servers, I had to enable the Windows Firewall or
setup would fail. Now that Lync has been running for a while, I have the Firewall disabled again.
Now, I am moving the CMS from Lync 2010 to 2013 and I am wondering if I should again enable the Firewall? I am concerned that the commands I need to run to prepare the 2013 FE server and the Move-CsManagement-Server command itself will fail if Windows Firewall
is disabled.
Does anyone know?Hi,
As I know, if you want to disable Windows firewall for getting in the way of some other applications you can
just turn off all three (Domain, Private, Public) profiles or disable the Windows firewall service.
If you just turn off all three (Domain, Private, Public) profiles, it means that during the install, Lync Server will add all the firewall rules to the Windows Firewall, so if after you turn on all three profiles all you need to do is turn the Windows Firewall
back on from the inside the Control Panel.
If you disable the Windows firewall service it means that the Windows Firewall snap-in won't even load. So during the install Lync Server won't be able to create the firewall rules. So after Lync installation you can enable the Windows Firewall service is
to run Step 2 from Lync Server Deployment Wizard.
More details:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/dodeitte/archive/2012/05/25/how-to-update-windows-firewall-rules-for-lync-server-2010-after-installation.aspx
So if you just turn off three (Domain, Private, Public) profiles, you should be OK to move CMS from 2010 to 2013.

Thanks & Regards Anand Sunka MCSA+CCNA+MCTSHi
The solution is to do a ‘repair’ install of Office 2013. This will reregister the needed components and the popups will stop.
A repair install can be done from ‘Programs and Features’, highlight Office 2013 and click ‘Change’. When the install wizard appears, choose the ‘repair’ option.

Lync 2013 migration from Lync 2010
Hi All,
I have a problem after I've successfully migrated our Lync environment from Lync 2010 (what was migrated from OCS 2008 R2) to Lync 2013.
When I would like to delete the old Lync 2010 Front End server from the topology I cannot do that, because there are some TrustedApplicationPool registered to that. And I cannot delete this unused TrustedApplicationPools, because I got the following error:
"Remove-CsTrustedApplicationPool : Cannot remove legacy trusted application pool. Use the legacy tools to remove the pool, then run Merge-CsTopology."
I've tried that many ways, I've tried the merging etc. but it was unsuccessful. Has anybody any idea, step-by-step or something what can helpful to me?
Many thanks,

Click to call plugin from outlook 2010 not dialing contacts which are not pulled from AD
Hi Experts,
we have this issue with click to call plugging from outlook 2010.
when there is a mail from a non corporate user ( a person who is not in AD) in the inbox, and we try to make a call to that person, click to call plugging does not allow to make a call from the outlook. Even though this contact is present in the outlook contacts.
But for corporate users ( who are in AD) there are no issues.
Is this a limitation of click to call or a configuration error ?
Regards
Bejoy ThomasHi Shangxin,
If you go throught my question again, I mentioned the contact detail for this person is present in the Outlook contacts.
That is I have saves this person's phone number in my outlook contacts.
Please let know if you have a solution for this issue.

Cancel a call transfer in Lync 2013
Hi,
Is it possible to cancel a transferred call using either the Lync 2010 or 2013 clients, either because the call isn't being answered or you've selected the wrong contact to transfer to.
Unless the user does a consultative transfer this seems impossible so all tips gratefully received.
ThanksHi,
I don't think you can do this with a blind transfer once the call has been passed off. Depending on the device / client that you are using to transfer the call however, you might be able to leverage 'Safe Transfer' functionality.
Matt Landis has written a concise overview article
here in relation to its use within the operation of the Lync attendant client, but also lists some useful nuggets of information including clients that support this. It should be noted though that there are now additional desk phones on the market
that have been qualified for Lync since Matt wrote that article which also support Safe Transfer.
Kind regards
Ben

Re-translate number for calls forwarded from Lync
On a user's desk phone, a call shows up as "315554443333" with 3 being the dial-out code. This way, a user can easily return a missed/received call. In Lync, the call shows up as "+5554443333".
This is fine for Lync users, but if a Lync user were to transfer a call to a desk phone user, the call appears as "+5554443333". The desk phone user can no longer return this call, they would have to dial the digits manually.
How would I go about re-translating this number? Thanks!
It worked for me.That is correct, PSTN to Call Manager with SIP trunk off to Lync. I am thinking the manipulation needs to occur in Lync, not in Call Manager. We are using several number translations already, here is an example:
OutsideCaller at 555-444-3333 calls InsideUser1 at 222-333-4444. The user has a desk phone and is configured for Enterprise Voice in Lync, so both their DeskPhone1 extension (4444) and their LyncPhone extension (3444) ring. 315554443333 appears
as the Calling Number on DeskPhone1, but +5554443333 appears on LyncPhone.
1. If InsideUser1 forwards a call received on DeskPhone1 from OutsideCaller to InsideUser2 who answers it on their DeskPhone2, it appears on DeskPhone2 as 315554443333 (GOOD).
2. If InsideUser1 forwards a call received on DeskPhone1 from OutsideCaller to InsideUser2 who answers it on their LyncPhone2, it appears on LyncPhone2 as 4444 (BAD, should show original calling party 315554443333).
3. If InsideUser1 forwards a call received on LyncPhone1 from OutsideCaller to InsideUser2 who answers it on their DeskPhone2, it shows on DeskPhone2 as +555444333 (BAD, should display number as 315554443333).
4. If InsideUser1 forwards a call received on LyncPhone1 from OutsideCaller to InsideUser2 who answers it on their LyncPhone2, it shows on LyncPhone2 as +555444333 (GOOD).
I hope this helps to clarify.
It worked for me. -
Hi
Noticed an issue where when using Call Park Function with users you receive one way audio when answering the call
The scenario is
1) If a user is internal and is homed on Lync 2010 Pool and calls an internal user who is homed on a Lync 2013 Pool and another internal user homed on a Lync 2013 Pool picks up the call with Call Pick Up orbit, Lync 2010 users only hears one way audio and
same for user who has picked up call
2) If the scenario is an External PSTN call or another Lync 2013 user these calls are fine
In Lync Tracing logs a SIP/2.0 481 Call Leg/Transaction Does Not Exist error is returned
Is this a known bug or expected behavior - Call Pickup is basically useless until all users are migrated to Lync 2013 as there is no way of a user knowing whether call is internal or external and if the user is on Lync 2010 or 2013, obviously in my
large organization 2000 users no an overnight thing
Coupled with the fact no Team Call Group\ Simultaneous Ring can be in place for Call Pickup to work im thinking Call Pick Up is not going to happen for awhile
Is there any fixes\ developments that may help this issue or is there a setting I am missingHi,
Please install latest update for Lync Server 2010 and 2013.

If the issue persists, please enable logging tool on Front end and Mediation server to get trace for troubleshooting.

Managing "Access Levels" on a domain level from Lync 2010 client
Hello,
Our company moved from Office Communicator 2007 R2 clients to Lync 2010 clients.
Previously in Office Communicator 2007 R2 client, it was possible to set default Access Levels for complete domains (instead of individual users only), using the Access Level Management view.
In the Lync 2010 this options seems to be missing. The management options per user are still there (by right-clicking a user), but the access to manage it for a domain is no longer visible.
Is there any way to manage Access Levels for domains, in a similar way we had in Communicator 2007? It appears that Lync 2010 stilluses the Access Levels set previously for domains, but users do no longer have any possibility to make further updates,
and are stuck (from their perspective at least) with the settings made in 2007 before.
Thanks.Lync 2010 doesn’t have the feature natively.
With Lync Server 2010, by default, the contacts from federated domains are added as External Contacts.

Uninstalling CMS from Lync 2010
Now that the CMS has been migrated to our Lync 2013 FE servers, I need to remove the replica from our single Lync 2010 server using
Uninstall-CsDatabase -CentralManagementDatabase -SqlServerFqdn <FQDN of SQL Server> -SqlInstanceName <Name of source server>
We plan on keeping the Lync 2010 server around for a bit even though there are no users on it. I have a single Trusted App for webmail integration still attached to the Lync 2010 server which I plan to move to 2013 sometime in the future. Our
Edge is still 2010.
Question is by removing the CMS replica from the Lync 2010 server, will this interfere with operation of the Edge server? All I am doing is removing CMS replica which is something you are supposed to do after moving CMS to 2013 but I am not sure where the
Edge is currently pulling its replica data from. Since the Edge has access to all internal FE servers I assume that if its getting changes from the 2010 FE and I remove that replica, it will get changes going forward from the 2013 FE. Is there any way
to see the Lync FE replication partners so I can verify this?
Eventually, we will build out a 2013 Edge and at that time decommission the 2010 completely. Its a very simple environment. Just IM and presence. No telephony, monitoring or archiving. You can establish a pool pairing that includes the pool hosting the Central Management store, a backup Central Management store database is set up in the backup pool,
and Central Management store services are installed in both pools. At any point in time, one of the two Central Management store databases is the active master, and the other is a standby. The content is replicated by the Backup Service from the active master
to the standby.

Unity - caller transfer from 1 VM box to subscriber phone RNA/RB routing
I want to call subscriber A, when I get the VM greeting, dial a subscriber B's extension, but on subscriber B RNA/RB be able to leave VM for subscriber A.
Call transfer and screening settings control how Cisco Unity handles your incoming calls from callers who did not dial you directly. Transfer and screening settings apply only when calls are routed to you from the main greeting recorded for your organization, directory assistance, or a similar automated call handler that your Cisco Unity administrator set up to assist callers who dial the main phone number for your organization. This means that when an outside caller or another subscriber dials your extension to reach you by phone, your Cisco Unity transfer and screening settings do not apply.

Move cms from Lync 2010 enterprise pool to Lync 2013 enterprise pool
Hi!
We recently moved all our users from our 2010 ent pool to our new 2013 ent pool.
we have read the http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj688013%28OCS.15%29.aspx
In step 7, it says that we should run the deployment wizard. Do we have to do this on all servers in the pool?
regards,
UcHi,
yes you should run it on all front-End servers in the pool

Calling DDE from Excel 2010 crashing on Win 8.1 VM
Trying to use DDE to connect Excel to an external application (Vensim DSS) on a windows 8.1 virtual machine (VM) which seems to hang Excel (specifically when you call DDEInitiate). I have no problems with the same VBA script (code reproduced below if needed)
on a standard PC with windows 8.1 and Vensim DSS. Also a previous incarnation with windows 7 VM and Vensim worked with no problem. Does anybody have ideas what is different on a win 8.1 VM or some process that I need to ensure is running on the VM for DDE
to work?
I have tried with Excel 2003, Excel 2007 and Excel 2010 and all experience the same issue of hanging when calling the DDEInitiate function.
Many thanks in advance,
