CallManager Attendant Console over WAN connection

Does anyone know if it is possible to run Attendant Console over the WAN. I have a branch office that I would like to install AC, but I cannot seem to get the Call Control layer up when I start the AC gui.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
The use of the Attendant Console outside of the central site can require a considerable amount of bandwidth if the remote sites must access large user account directories without caching them.
-Apart from IP Phone requirements , AC needs Jtapi messages communications
-Line State Updates..It depends on number of phones which change line state at a given time ..TCD server sends this as UDP packets..And how many of these are listed on the console directory/speed dial at a given
time..
Say we have 10 phones getting a new call at a time and for of these are listed on Console , we will get line state for 4 phones.
-At each login , the console connects to server and checks if userlist file has changed and if changed it downloads the same..Workaround is to have local copy of this file
But this is usually a one time step per login session.
Regarding your question, it should work, verify that no ACLs, FW or other network device is blocking traffic from|to CCM and AC console|IP Phone.
You may check this link to verify configuration is fine.
AC user password (12345)
PP|IP Phones associations
CTI|TCD started
etc

  • Maintaining the Directory in Cisco CallManager Attendant console

I have names in the directory of the cisco callmanager attendant console users that no longer work for the company. The numbers and names have been deleted from the call manager but not the directory used by the attendant console. How do I go about cleaning up the directory for the attendant console?

    Hi,
Thanks for the doc..4* for the info.
This basically explains what I've checked already. Cynth, seeing as you've checked on the AC PC that there's no userlists file, and we now know you have 2 files present on the callmanager I would suggest the following to resolve your problem:
    1) Delete both the AutoGenerated.txt and CorporateDirectory.txt from the CallManager Attendant Console directory (I've put the path in my previous post). You can copy them off this directory if you want a copy for keep safe.
    2) Re-start the TCD service again.
    3) Shut down the AC client and re-open it.
This should basically re-populate the directory on the CallManager (once you re-start the service). Then when you open up AC again it should copy across the up-to-date corporate directory list.

  • Attendant Console could not connect to server after upgrade

    All,
I upgraded a BE CUCM/Unity Connection server from 6.1.2.1000-13 to 6.1.4.2190-3 and after the upgrade, the AC client software could not connect to the CUCM server.  After checking all of the obvious things and rebooting the computer on which AC client was running, I finally figured out a workaround.  The CUCM server was configured with a host name of UCM1 and a domain of localdomain.  The AC clients were pointing to UCM1.  If I added a record in the client's hosts file (%WINDIR%\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\hosts) which pointed UCM1.localdomain to the IP address of the CUCM server and then pointed the AC client to UCM1.localdomain, everything worked great.  I'm just wondering why this happened.  The client must pass the name of the server in the payload (rather than simply using the name to resolve to an IP address).  So why, all of a sudden, does the server care about the FQDN?  Just curious if anybody knows or has run into this same issue.
    Regards,
    Steven

    Hazel,
Any chance you could send me a Wireshark capture of the traffic coming to/from one of the affected client PCs during the login process?  Also, please include any log files in the client's AC application folder (or sub-folders) as well as event log data from the system and application event log for the timeframe spanning slightly before and after the login attempt.
Also before doing any of this please clear the DNS and ARP cache of the client PC:
    ipconfig /flushdns
    arp -d *

    Steven

  • Attendant console issues

I upgraded call manager from 5.1(2) to 6.1(2). I upgraded attendant console for the reception. Most of the features are working.
When the call come in attendant console does not see an incoming call under CALL PROCESSING window.
    Please advise..
    Thanks

If you do not configure the user, the attendant console cannot interact with CTIManager, and the attendant cannot receive calls so configure the user.

  • Time Capsule - Share over WAN

My Time Capsule is connected to another router through Ethernet as bridge mode and wireless. Therefor the option to Share disc over WAN and i can't access it over the internet. Is it possible to set up the same Share over WAN feature on my routers web interence?

Ok, lets get down and dirty.
What modem router are you running?
Does it have a DMZ and have you tried placing the TC in the DMZ?
Many routers do not allow a connection to be made even after you have port forwarded because the firewall is turned on. Turn off the firewall in the router. Turn off the firewall in the router on the wan connection. Check that the computer firewall is also not preventing the connection.
*Firewall is a key issue for failure to connect over WAN connections*
Sometimes upnp in the router can mess up with manual port forwarding. Try turning off upnp.
I would also try reset of the modem and if possible see if you can get something to ping respond to you. If the modem has a ping responder in it, turn it on to ensure you can actually get packets to the router and back again.
I also have to ask you are actually testing from a different internet connection?? You cannot test wan port opening from LAN.. well not without nat loopback or remote proxy setup.

  • # of Attendant Console Users that CCM 3.3 can handle

We have been told by various Cisco Sources that CCM 3.3 can handle unlimited Attendant Console Users and installs. Yet, other Cisco Sources say that CCM 3.3 can only handle up to a fixed amount. So which one is true?

I don't see any such restrictions mentioned in any document. I guess it all depends on the number of device weights a CCM can manage. You may like to verify the same from

  • Eigrp - How to modify Admin distance for redistributing connected links and over WAN

We have a single EIGRP domain 101 across 2 locations (A and B) separated by a WAN link. Each location has a number of L3 switches at the IDF behind the router which has  the L3 vlans VL1, VL2 etc. We run eigrp 101 across all the switches and on the routers but we dont advertise any of the L3 vlans on them and we do redistribute static and connected for the static and the vlans to be distributed on eigrp.
    Qn
    1. How do i reduce the admin distance of the directly connected vlan on IDF on our core switch. ie. Vl1 and Vl2 that are distributed via connected has a admin distance of 170 locally as the other switches sees that as External without having to advertise the networks individually on each switch.
    2. Is that possible to increase the admin distance over the WAN link without having to create a 2nd eigrp domain. ie.. Add a admin distance of say 50 over the WAN link  and that way devices on both sides do see that there is a 130 distance for the remote side and 90 for local for admin distance.
    Why?
I am trying to separate two locations and i don't think we will be able to create an additional domain and i am trying to see alternate methods of achieving this.
    Additional info-
The design i mentioned has 2 locations with a WAN connection and i have mixed (90/170) distance based on where the routes are coming(eigrp/connected/static) from eventhough  everything is within the same network.  We only have 1 Eigrp network 101 and was looking to alter the AD for just connected if at all possible.
Assuming i put in all the routes into the network how can i make site 2 see the site 1 network with a larger admin distance and 1 to 2 with a larger admin distance while not altering the admin distance within the local site.
Underlying reason: We are getting a MPLS link(lower bandwidth) connecting to site 3,4 and 5 at both sites and wanted to clear the internal routing first before i can add them or redistribute them into bgp.

If these two sites are connected via a P2P link and you are exchanging EIGRP routes across it then you need to be aware of what you redistribute into BGP because each site will know about it's own subnets but also the other sites subnets.
If you just redistribute all EIGRP at both sites then it's a lottery as to which MPLS connection the non EIGRP sites use.
So you either need to -
    1) when you redistribute EIGRP at each site into BGP use a route map and only allow the local networks for that site
    or
    2) if you want each of the EIGRP sites to back each other's MPLS connection up you could have them both advertise out all networks ie. their own and the other EIGRP site's networks but modify the BGP attributes of the non local networks so they are least preferred.
You still want to use a route map to ensure only the local and other EIGRP sites network are redistributed because remember you are also receiving BGP routes from the non EIGRP sites and redistributing these into EIGRP at each site and these are exchanged via the P2P link as well.
It realty depends on what you are trying to do.
The actual basic redistribution is very straightforward, see this link -
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/ip/border-gateway-protocol-bgp/113506-failover-eigrp-bgp-00.html
but you need to decide what you are going to do in terms of EIGRP to BGP advertisements as covered above.
I'm not trying to make things complicated for you but because you have a P2P link connecting these sites and you are running EIGRP over it then any routes received via BGP will be redistributed into EIGRP and you need to make sure they are then not redistributed back into BGP on the other site router.

  • Attendant console error - connection failure .... using server port 1859

Hi we are having issues where the user is unable to login to the attenadnt console
the error is as follows -
A connection failure has occurred attempting to connect to server: using server ort: 1859. Please ensure the server is active, and the logging information is correct.
    After reboot everything is OK
the netstat shows the app listening on 1859 is CTSS.exe? Which service does it corelate to in Windows? I can check if that service is running next time. I did not find a CTSS service ot something that sounds similar.
Also, in order to open a TAC Case where do I find the serial number for the Attendant console?

Welcome to discussions leffjay. Good one. Cheers.

  • Attendant Console unable to change MAC address

    Hi there,
I'm having a problem with attendant Console that's rather annoying and i'm unable to get it to work!
When I attempt to connect using the software the sw returns the error "Not a valid device. Specify another device", and I find that I don't get an option to select anything other than the Person_DeviceProfile rather than the MAC address of the phone they are logged on to. I also found that in the xml file under the data folder in Windows gets populated with Person_DeviceProfile too - but overwriting this with the MAC address of the phone has no effect.
Interestingly enough is that if I were to log out of EM, and use the extension number of the logged out phone in Attendant Console, it works fine and as expected. It's as if the Device Profile has no concept of access to the phone.
So far I have made sure that all devices are associated with the ac user; I have associated the physical phone with the End user (as well as the device profile obviously), and also done the usual uninstall/install of sw and restart of services.
    Version is CallManager 6.
    Any other suggestions? Much appreciated!

We soon discovered two other bugs that were supposedly fixed in previous versions of CUCM.
We found the following bugs other than the one described here, in version 6.0.1.3000-7:
    - Adding a new device profile to CUCM causes ccm.exe to hang. Symptoms include phones refusing to register correctly when logging in/out of EM, and CFWD all not responding.
    - Device profile Service URL is being overwritten by the actual devices' SURL. The symptom presents itself as the service URL that was being shown on the phone when the phone is EM logged out can still be seen when the phone has been logged into EM.
All three bugs were fixed when Cisco TAC provided us with patch UCOS_ES_6.0.1.3103-1

  • Attendant Console (CCM4.3) now fails

After having AC run flawlessly for 2 years at reception, they now receive "Could not connect to server" or whatever when starting the application. To my knowledge, there has been no change to the AC services or the receptionists' phones & PCs. I also have AC installed at my PC for testing and I get the same thing.
I am looking for help troubleshooting this. I see no problems with services on the servers and nothing entered in event logs that would help diagnose. It almost seems like a port is being blocked but they claim no change to firewalls or PC rules.
    Any advice where to start?
    thanks,
    b

yes u r right, TCD issue may be a symptom to this AC problem.
Cisco Telephony Call Dispatcher (TCD) service running on the Cisco CallManager communicates with Cisco Attendant Console clients for call routing and control, monitors and reports line state, and services client database requests. and it must be active to dispatch calls to the active Attendant Console clients.
docs says u have to restart TCD service when u make changes in piolt points.
although sometimes there r no changes occur, it has to be service stuck issue.

  • IP Phone call forward to Attendant Console - reach Attendant Console Voicemail

    Hello,
I have an old Attendant Console based on CUCM7.1(5) with CUC 9.
Most of my user have voice mail box.
My issue is following: Users forward there phone to AC pilot point during lunch time or meetings.
When a call is then transfered to Attendant Console, if it is not answered, it is redirected to Unity connection and reach User Voice Mail box.
This is the good way of working for all users (to reach first redirect number mailbox), but my customer wants in the particular case of calls forwarded to standard, to reach standard voice mail box.
    How can we achieve this?
If I setup a Translation Pattern on CUCM to translate a dummy number into attendant console Pilot Point number, and forward user to this dummy number, does Translation Pattern replace the first redirect number?
    Thanks for your help.
    Thibaut

It is likely that they are transferring a call to the operator on a line they are not logged into instead of the queue.
All calls should be routed through the queue in order to receive full CTI control of that call, I would suggest you create a speed dial with the DN of the CTI Route Point for the operators queue and then transfer the call to that instead of the operator directly, this way the call sits in the queue with any other callers.

  • Sharing an iTunes Library over WAN?

Sorry if this question has been asked before but my searching of the forum here has only seemed to turn up questions and anwswers on sharing over a local network. Here is my question.
Is it possible to share an iTunes library over the internet? And if so, how? If it isn't I'd like to know so I can stop trying to track down how to do this.
I have a Titanium G4 at home running iTunes 6.01 using a cable modem and router. The router firewall has been setup with the proper ports for iTunes and FTP (FTP works fine). My work computer is a G5 running iTunes 6.01 connected via a DSL modem/router.
I have no other issues connecting to my home computer from work, but I can't see my shared music at home on my work computer.
    Thanks for any info.

Issue solved. Here is what I did. I setup my Mac at home so I could connect at work. Inside the iTunes library on my work Mac I created an alias to the iTunes Music folder on my home Mac. Since my library at home and work are exactly the same iTunes on my work Mac sees a local library file but is streaming the music over WAN from my Mac at home.
The are some stops and starts as the connection is over WAN, but it's pretty smooth. Do not know what will happen if I need to add or subtract from the library on either Mac.
Just bringing this to the front in case anyone is interested in trying it themselves.

  • Airport Extreme(SW) keeps dropping the WAN connection under "heavy" load

    Hey,
Have had this problem ever since I got the Airport Extreme when it first came out and I got it.
The problem is this : The connection will work just fine for ages, but if I end up downloading something using (primarily this is the problem) torrents and I end up getting a rather good speed on it the airport will all of the sudden stop getting data from the WAN(ADSL modem connected to it through the WAN connection) and the Airport will have to be restarted. Some days it will have to be restarted up towards 15 times a day.
The Airport remains accessible through the LAN connection, as well as through the WiFi when it has failed like this so I can go in through the Airport Admin Utility and restart the unit without any problems whatsoever. The modem does not need restart or reiniting either.
The problem occurs no matter of if I am on the hard wired (LAN) connection or the WiFi connection. If I download something using a torrent that is high speed, especially if its more then one torrent at the same time (say 4 torrents each running at 200-300kbps therefor peaking at the roof of what my DSL connection can handle) then it will absolutely lock up after a minute or so. If I only do surfing or 'ordinary' work then there is no problem.
    The problem is easily repeated.
    * If I connect my laptop by wire to the modem directly without the airport in between there will be no problem.
    * I have software reseted the Airport many times to attempt to fix the problem when it has gotten on my nerves with no positive or changing result.
    * I have the latest available from Apple firmware(5.6) installed on the Airport.
    * I have no 'weird' or abnormal settings set on the Airport, and no neighbors playing tricks on me - This problem was with me when I used the airport fully locked down in a office environment and then went with it when I moved my airport unit out of my office in to my home.
    * I have no other wifi units in the house that may cause problems, no bluetooth phones running amok.
    Airport details:
    Apple Airport Extreme Base Station
    Firmware Version: 5.6
Wireless Security : Not currently enabled
    Wireless Channel : 1 (automatic)
    Built in modem : No
    Prod # : M8930LL/A (A-1034)

    Hi guys,
Recently I bought AirPort Extreme 802.11n Base Station (Gigabit, MB053LL/A), and
seems, I have very similar problem with yours. Internet connection from my ISP over WAN is dropped after few hours of being idle. The router successfully receives its IP settings from provider's DHCP, eveyithing is working fine at first and as long as I have some inet activity. Then I disconnect, or sleep my laptops, and when I'm back - WAN provides no Internet traffic at all It looks like WAN is not functioning or blocked in someway. AirPort Utility and logs show no problems, all statuses are good, correct WAN IP settings are shown in the utility.
Sometimes it helps to plug-out/in Ethernet cable to WAN port, but more often only full router restart helps (with around 10-20 secs of outage). BTW, WiFi connection between the router and laptops is pretty stable and causes absolutely no probs. HDD connected to the router works good also.
My firmware is 7.2.1 (gigabit), and reading above posts I tried to downgrade to 7.2. It didn't fix the problem So well there are no earlier firmware versions for this AEBS model to try.
Does anybody have ideas about it?
(I understand you guys mostly wrote about 100Mbit version of AEBS)
    Thanks you,
    Strim

  • Airport Extreme and External Hard Drive. Backup over WAN?

    Hi
I'm new to Mac's and just got a macbook air and a airport extreme.  I connected my external hard (toshiba) drive to the AE and my computer will recognize it, but when I try to connect to it using Time Machine my external hard drive is not recognized as a device that I can backup to over my WAN.  I'm not sure if this is possible, but I would like to be able to backup over the WAN if it is possible.  Is it possible to backup using time machine over WAN using an AE and a non apple external hard drive?

Time Machine cannot backup to a hard drive unless it is formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled), also known as HFS+.
You have me scratching my head about backing up through the WAN port. Normally, the WAN port would be used for a connection from a modem.....or another router.
However, if you have the AirPort Extreme configured to connect to another router via Ethernet, and the AirPort Extreme is set to operate in Bridge Mode, then you don't have a WAN port, they are all LAN ports, so it would not matter which of the ports that you used.

  • NEED HELP PLEASE Setting up 2 VLANS and a redundant WAN connection

I have a remote branch office which is actually a huge bar/lounge. The bar wants to enable patrons to access the Internet with their wireless laptops. I want to prevent those patrons from accessing our private network, and also prevent them from traversing our static VPN tunnel back to HQ.
The bar processes all credit cards via the T1 connection, and this has caused us to lose money every time the T1 goes down while we're open, since there is no WAN redundancy right now.
Here is my current hardware configuration:
    1) one PIX 501 50-user 3des.
    2.) two Dell 3024
    3.) one Aironet 1100(g) AP.
    Current LAN Network: 10.35.35.0
(internal employees only, static VPN tunneled to remote HQ network)
    Current Wireless SSID's:
    SSID1=PRIVATESSID
SSID2=PUBLICSSID (not currently in use, waiting to figure this out)
    Current WAN: one T1 connection.
WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO DO AND NEED HELP FIGURING OUT:
#1a) I want to create two separate VLAN's that are able to share the WAN connection, but not be able to "see" each other.
#1b) These VLAN's would be mapped to their respective SSID's on the AP (PRIVATESSID>10.35.35.0 and PUBLICSSID>192.168.1.0).
#1c) The 192.168.1.0 network should not be able to traverse the static tunnel between the branch site and HQ.
#2) I would like to install a backup WAN connection such as a modem 56k dial-up to an ISP or a cable modem to an ISP. In case the primary T1 goes down, I would like the router to automatically dial out over the modem conection and route all Internet bound traffic over that backup WAN connection, until the primary comes back online.
    Question 1:
I'm assuming I need a router to do the intervlan routing. Could this router also do the on-demand WAN backup dialing to an ISP via analog modem?
What IOS version and flavor (IP base, IP+, etc.) would I need? What is the cheapest router I can do all that with (i.e. 2620/2621/1720/3600 series)? What WIC's or NM's would I need?
    Question Two:
I would like to prioritize PRIVATESSID's traffic over PUBLICSSID's traffic, which I know I can do on the access point. Can I do this on the router so that any 10.35.35.0 traffic takes priority over any 192.168.1.0 traffic?
    Question Three
If the primary T1 WAN connection goes down, I don't want the router to re-route the 192.168.1.0 traffic over the backup 56k dial-up WAN connection. That traffic can wait until the T1 comes back up.
Any help you can provide would be very much appreciated.

Assuming your access points can place SSID into separate vlans and support 802.1q trunks then I can attempt to answer your questions. There are seperate secuity issues with both SSID for protection and VLANs for seperation but in your case in may be minimal.
    q1
Any cisco router that will run 802.1q trunking will work. Since you are looking at older routers you will need IP+ to get it. Even 2610's will support 802.1q on their 10m ethernet at the correct code level but 10m and 802.1q is sorta nonstandard. Since your backup is only 56k you can use the internal modem port as a dial backup. A wic-2a/s will also work if you prefer not to use the modem port. You will need some wic to run your t1 line. If you are planning to leave the t1 on another router it makes the next 2 questions much harder.
    q2
This is fairly simple and depends on your ios level. "priority queing" is supported on even the older software. I assume you do not control the far end of the t1 line since it sounds as if this goes to a ISP.
You will need to have them do the QoS since most issues with the internet are inbound and not outbound. You can only control outbound traffic.
    q3
If the T1 is on the same router then this is fairly simple. You can just put a floating static default route in that will cause the dialer to come up if the the t1 goes down. There is no easy way to protect against the line being up but no traffic passing. This is also why it would be best to have the t1 on the same router. If its not you will need to get very creative to solve this. You could build a GRE tunnel to a remote location and montior the tunnel or run a routing protcol over the tunnel. In the newest software you could use SAA and policy routing to force the traffic over the dialer but the router must support ios 12.4.
3a. You mentioned a cable modem as a backup. That can be much easier sometimes since it is all routing and no dialer interfaces with nasty modem issues. This does not make the issue of the t1 not on the same router easier.
