Campaign Metrics - # Bounces Switched?

Hi -
We have sent out several campaigns and are now reporting on them.
The metrics seem to be mixed up on the subject area.
The campaign was sent out 2/3/2011
The receipent data on the campaign object shows delivery status of 8 hard bounces and 1 soft bounce as of 2/7/2011
The dates are important since the report is 24 hours delayed......
When we run our report using metrics from the Campaign Response History subject area - no formulas, just pulling Metrics."# of Soft Bounces and Metrics."# of Hard Bounces"
the results are SWITCHED. I have tried to change teh aggregation rule from default to sum, just to check. No pivot tables are being used...just straight values.
Does anyone know if this is really a bug or what else might be happening??
Thanks,
Ann

Hi Ann,

  • Campaigns - Hard bounces for valid email addresses

I am getting hard bounces with 'Bad Mailbox Destination Address' for valid email addresses that everybody internally and externally can email without problem.
Doesn't instill me with much faith for sending out 10,000 emails next week!

If you can email that address manually from a regular email address and it goes through fine then it's likely you might be getting blocked by spam filters although usually that would be indicated in your bounce message.
Is your site fully hosted on BC (ie - with BC's nameservers) or is your domain hosted via an A record to point to BC?  If you are being blocked by spam filters then you are likely using the A record because fully hosted sites on BC have the SPF records in place.
If you are using an A record to point to BC's servers for your domain and manage your DNS records somwehere then you need to add a TXT record with the SPF data.  Goto your domain registrar and manage your DNS entries.  You'll want to add a TXT record with the following info:
    Record name: @
    Record type: TXT
    Record value: v=spf1 mx include:worldsecuresystems.com ~all
    Record TTL: 86400
You can only have one SPF record on your domain so if you already have a TXT record with SPF data in it for other email services your domain uses (like gmail) you just need to update your TXT SPF record and add "include:worldsecuresystems.com" after the first "include" statement in the TXT record the TXT value would look like:
    "v=spf1 mx include:_spf.google.com include:worldsecuresystems.com ~all"
If your problem is that your emails are blocked by spam filters that should fix it but I'm pretty sure 'Bad Mailbox Destination Address' usually indicates a non-existent or malformatted username in your email address (ie - the part before the "@").  I would also double check your subscribers list and make sure there are no spaces or any other invalid character in the email addresses for the customers that are getting bounced back.
Here's more information about your specific error from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232118(v=exchg.80).aspx which has to do with MS Exchange server specifically but still provides a good explanation:
    5.1.1
    Bad destination mailbox address
This failure may be caused by the following conditions:
The recipient e-mail address was entered incorrectly by the sender.
No recipient exists in the destination e-mail system.
The recipient mailbox has been moved and the Microsoft Office Outlook recipient cache on the sender's computer has not updated.
An invalid legacy domain name (DN) exists for the recipient mailbox Active Directory.
This error typically occurs when the sender of the message incorrectly enters the e-mail address of the recipient. The sender should check the recipient's e-mail address and send again. This error can also occur if the recipient e-mail address was correct in the past but has changed or has been removed from the destination e-mail system.
If the sender of the message is in the same Exchange organization as the recipient, and the recipient mailbox still exists, determine whether the recipient mailbox has been relocated to a new e-mail server. If this is the case, Outlook may not have updated the recipient cache correctly. Instruct the sender to remove the recipient address from sender's Outlook recipient cache and then create a new message. Resending the original message will result in the same failure.
Other issues may cause this error, such as an invalid legacy distinguished name (DN) in Active Directory. Examine and correct the legacy DN of the recipient's mailbox. Then instruct the sender to remove the recipient address from sender's Outlook recipient cache and then create a new message. Resending the original message will result in the same failure.

  • Time taken to replicate campaigns from Eloqua into the Insight reporting tool

I have found there seems to be a delay in the campaign metrics for active campaigns getting into the reporting tool so that I can extract them for sales follow up.  Does anyone know how long this is supposed to take?

    Hello,
For Insight Reporting it can take up to 24 hours for metrics to show up in reporting found in Insight. For more "real time" data try clicking in the asset (ie campaign or email etc) and click on the gear-cog --> settings --> Operational Reporting. These reports show the most up to date data. The down side to this data is it is only able to show you up to the last 3 months worth of data.
    I hope this helps!

  • Bounce - Soft error type

    Hi all,
I'm setting up automatic campaign and bouncing. I was wondering if it's possible to resend bounced email (soft errors..like full inbox) automatically.
    Do you have any tips?
    Thank you

    Hi Antonio,
1> In SPRO , Goto 'Define Receiving E-Mail Addresses/Fax Numbers', here you you define incoming e-mail addresses and fax numbers for the Agent Inbox
2> In SPRO > ERMS > Service manager > Define service profiles, then assign Service profiles
(. Service manager profiles determine which services and related properties are executed or performed and in what sequence when called by the service manager).
3> In transaction 'SWETYPV', create a new entry : (select from F4 help correct values)
    Example;
    Object Category = BOR type
    Object Type = CRM_DOCU
    Event = BounceRecieved
Receiver Type = WS14000111 , Type link box checked and No error in list box.
4> Then in WEBUI , create corresponding Rule Policies , having Context as "Bounce management".
Define correct details in Policy and also can attach Actions.
Hope this information is useful and answers your query.
    Regards,
    Anup

  • Campaign and (#) of Contacts for Campaign

    Hi,
i'm trying to create a report, to know how many recipients (contacts) i have in a certain campaign. For that i'm using the (#) of Contacts for Campaign metric, but it returns 0. I know that all the campaigns have at least on recipient. Does any one have any idea about this?
    thanks
    Joc

    Hi Josh,
I'm using Reporting -> Campaigns and not Analytics -> Campaign History. Everytime i upload recipients to campaigns (with webservices), i must know if all the recipients are there, can't wait until the next day.
Are you saying that in reporting -> Campaigns you can see the numern (#) of Contacts for Campaign ? Does it have a value? In my case its always 0.
    thanks

  • Forwarding latency for various switches

i want to quantify the latency in my network, as part of an effort to determine whether or not we can deploy a new application
so i've grabbed my Finisar THG box (a hardware packet sniffer with an internal clock accurate to 20ns), a stack of various switches, and some cables. i plug the two ports of the THG box into a switch, send 1,000 pings at a specified internval from one THG NIC through the switch to the other THG NIC, subtract the packet insertion time, average the resulting pile of numbers, and come up with a figure for the forwarding latency (aka decision time) of the device. see my results below
now i want a sanity check. Cisco must perform this same test (possibly with fancier hardware, like SmartBits boxes) routinely on their gear ... where do they post these results? i've been poking around www.cisco.com without success
for interest, here are my numbers:
    Catalyst 4003 100BaseT ports: 3170ns
    Catalyst 4003 1000BaseSX ports: 705ns
[same forwarding latency for 64 byte and for 1518 byte packets]
    Cat 4503 1000BaseSX 64 byte: 3300ns
    Cat 4503 1000BaseSX 1518 byte: 7120ns
[why the change in forwarding latency depending on packet size? remember, i've already subtracted packet insertion time]
    Cat 6506 1000BaseSX 64 byte: 5000ns
    Cat 6506 1000BaseSx 1518 byte: 7120ns
    Datacomm Aggregration tap 100Mb: 320ns
    In-Line Finisar 100Mb tap: 0ns
    NetGear 100Mb hub: 330ns
and finally, we ran a test across our production network (which translates into two access-layer Cat 4506s, two distribution layer Cat 6506s, one core layer Cat 6506, plus ~500m of cabling ... and came out with ~20us of latency, exclusive of packet insertion time. good stuff
-where does Cisco post the numbers they have recorded?
-with whom could i have a conversation about what drives fowarding latency in different Catalyst models? why, for instance, different packet sizes change decision time, in some models but not in others?
i'm wanting both a sanity check and a deeper understanding

I don't believe you'll ever see those numbers published from a vendor (Cisco or any other).
Think marketing: With hard numbers being public information, the Marketing folks have a lot less "wiggle room" when producing their materials. It provides a hard/fixed target for the competitors, for their engineering and marketing.
Think back to ~1984 when Kalpana introduced Ethernet switching. Their product (a cut-through switch) produced latencies in the ~20s when everyone else's store & forward switches were in the 90s.
What happened? The marketing folks from the other companies (including Cisco) re-defined the term "Latency" in their marketing materials such that it favored their product (or at least made it look like a less-significant difference). It was wild .... some wanted it to mean firstbyte in/first byte out, others wanted first byte in / last byte out ...and everything in-between ,,, whatever worked for their product.
Cisco even came up with "Frag-Free switching" to capture the market generated by all the other vendors FUD campaign ("the fast switching of cut-through{sorta}, with the assurance of runt/frag-free switching offered by S&F").
Even numbers from the third party groups can be suspect. Our Lab (I worked at a different place then)had much of the same equipment used by the thrid-party groups ... and we can up (in some cases) with similar numbers (and sometimes different numbers)... without the spin, the products usually didn't produce the same happy results.
When the manufacturer is paying for the third-party to do the testing, the analysis tends to have a much more positive lean to it.
To finish it all off, in most cases, performance (assuming it's within acceptable limits) is only a small part of the purchasing decision. In many/most cases, pre/post sale support, stability and longevity of the manufacturer, implementation costs, interoperability, post-installation management, and other factors take the forefront of "why do I wanna buy this thing from those guys."
Meaning, would you rather buy the hottest box from a new company that may|may not be around next year, that may|may not integrate well with existing infrastructure, that may|ususally doesn't have a product that doesn't intergrate with the existing management platforms and may|may not have a decent support organization .... OR buy from a company that doesn't have the fastest box, but it's reliable, integrates well, has a good support organization, and has proven longevity (it'll be here next year) ... and the other (mostly positive) attributes?
Sorry for the long post, but it's an issue that's more complex than performance stats, and (to get back to the original point) Marketing likely requires some "flexibility" in their marketing materials and generally doesn't want hard specs beyond the usual packets-per-second, backplane throughput, and MTBF.

  • PNG Transparency Fix for IE6

Hope somone can help with this. Basically I have a PNG image with a transparancy to sit over a gradient background, like this :
    http://www.hpwebdesign.co.uk/mklink/index102.shtml
The little graphics next to campaign metrics are OK, but the main header image they sit in with the light blue gradient and hand graphic etc is not - the little areas around the curved corners should be transparent but are not (in IE6).
I assume this is because that is a background image for the <div> being referenced in the CSS, rather than dropped into the page directly.
So I guess my question is can this be overcome?
    Thanks.

IE 6 doesn't support transparent PNGs natively. You will either have to resort to Javascript hacks to force IE 6 to render it correctly (although these do not work for repeated background images in CSS), use a lowest common denominator image format (GIF), or use conditional commenting to give IE 6 it's own stylesheet with it's own image to get something somewhat like what the other browsers will see.
Or just not worry what IE 6 sees as long as your site content is accessible and usable.

  • May Release: New partner support, Infrastructure updates, Site templates and bug fixes

    Link: http://www.businesscatalyst.com/_blog/BC_Blog/post/May-release-New-partner-support-Infrast ructure-updates-Site-templates-and_bug-fixes/
We are announcing a new Business Catalyst release, scheduled to go live on Thursday, May 3rd. With this release, we are continuing our investments in system performance and stability by increasing our web servers capacity, enabling HTTP acceleration to provide faster site loading times, and improving the site creation speed by using pre-generated sites.
On the product side, we have completely revamped our partner support workflow taking advantage of the Adobe support infrastructure and tools, enhanced the site templates workflow for partners, and included lots of bug fixes and improvements. Read through the following sections to get detailed information about this release:
    Partner support
    Infrastructure updates
    Features and enhancements
    Issues fixed by this release
    What's next
You can jump to the corresponding section by clicking the above links.
    Partner support
Updated Help & Support partner experience
Following Adobe ID support, we have upgraded BC  support tools (cases, chat, documentation) with standard Adobe tools. As a partner, you can now benefit from the same support tools as the rest of Adobe Creative Suite, and can track your support cases with Adobe BC, Dreamweaver, Muse or Photoshop in a single place.
Partners with more than 100 paid sites will get 2nd level chat support, which includes a higher priority, by default. If you have more than 100 paid sites, but spread across different Partner Portals, please ask support to enable 2nd level chat for you.
Support experience for your Small Business owner clients can now be owned by partners (see below).
Custom Help & Support URL for your clients
As a partner, you are probably already offering various additional services to your clients besides building & maintaining their BC site. Support, tailored specifically to your client needs, is usually one of these value-added services. We are now enabling you to take your Support service to the next level. In  Partner Portal Settings, you have the option to set a custom URL for what will open when your client clicks on Help & Support inside Admin Console:
If you have multiple partner accounts, for different verticals, you can specify a Support URL for each of these.
The default Support experience provided by BC for your clients will be updated in a few releases to be similar to the partner support experience. This includes BC-branded support cases and documentation. If you'd like to keep a white-label experience for your customers, please set your own Help & Support URL in Partner Portal.
For more details please read the Improved support workflow and new forums announcement on our blog.
    Infrastructure updates
Between our April release and the following infrastructure updates have been enabled
Limited trial sites for free partners – starting with our May release, the number of trial sites a Free Partner can have will be limited to 100. Once the limit is reached, Free Partners that need to create a new trial site have the options to upgrade to a higher partner plan, upgrade some of the trial sites to paid or delete unused/expired trials.
Automatic trial expiry extension - with this release, trial site expiry date will be automatically extended with 30 days every time an admin user logs in  the system through the admin interface or through FTP.
Installed additional hardware - we have installed additional web servers on all our data centers, that translate into an increase of the existing capacity with over 70%.
Updated DNS infrastructure - we have improved the DNS resolution for email delivery so that we can increase the rate at which we're sending the system operational emails
HTTP acceleration – all sites static assets are served from a new cache engine (images, CSS and JavaScript files, together with improved headers that should allow the browser to cache them better for a browsing session). This update has been turned on along with our April release, and has made all the BC sites load faster on first and on subsequent loads.
Accelerated site/partner creation – we've changed the way new sites are created for faster speed, pre-creating them and reusing pre-created sites when needed, and have also improved the creation process for new partners, minimizing the impact of new CCM customers on the existing datacenters.
Adobe ID for partners - in order to support an integrating experience between the various Adobe tools a partner may use (Dreamweaver, Muse, Support forums) we have added Adobe ID support for Business Catalyst partner accounts. Starting April 19, partners are asked to merge their current Business Catalyst account with their Adobe ID accounts. For more details about the transition process and FAQ please read the Introducing Adobe ID blog post.
Updated Terms of Use - Along with several other changes in our processes in the past few months, we also revamped our Terms of Use and the signature process by requesting every admin user to sign a TOU. We have completed the rollout for partners, and we might be pushing an updated partner Terms of Use version within the following weeks. For more details and questions about this change, read the New Terms of Use for Business Catalyst blog post.
    Features and enhancements
    Site templates
To support the increasing number of partners building, sharing or reusing  templates to create  new sites, we're extending our site templates support from our partner portal with a new template type and improved  management support. The update is going to enable partners to mark sites as templates and   choose between making them available in Online Business Builder and keeping them private in their partner portal. A template site will not expire and has the same limits as any other trial site.
Based on your partner level, you can create private or public templates using the Site Details screen or the Tools>My Site Template section from your Partner Portal. Standard partners can only create private templates, while Free Partners can only view site templates that have been transferred to their accounts by other partners.
The number of templates a partner will have will be limited and will vary based on partner level: free partners can store up to 5 templates in their partner portal, standard partners have up to 100 site templates while Premium Partners might have up to 200 templates. Paid sites marked as templates are not counted against these limits.
    Business Catalyst Partner fixes
While we are really focused on making the Business Catalyst integration into Creative Cloud a smashing success, we are slowly resuming our efforts to deliver fixes that have been requested by our partners. This release includes the following partner fixes:
Improved product custom fields - we have increased the maximum number of characters for product custom fields to 1024 (previous limit was 256); this gives partners and customers additional space to use when working with products
Improved Secure Zone subscribers list - we have added the customer email address in the Secure Zone Subscribers list to enable partners better filter and manage customers
Better experience when exporting data - to prevent customer confusion when exporting data from Mac computers, we have removed the export to excel option and exporting in CSV format by default.
    Social plugins integration updates
Starting with our May release, we are updating the social plugins support to require users to get the plugin code from the third party provider and saving into his Business Catalyst website. The module tags and configuration will remain unchanged, but will render an empty tag until the partner or site owner will  update the module template to include the corresponding module code snippet from the third party platform provider.
For more information about how you can enable the Social Plugins on a Business Catalyst websites, read the Social Media: Integrating Facebook and Twitter knowledge base article.
    Other changes
Updated weekly emails - Starting with our May release, the information in the site weekly emails has been filtered based on the site's plan. For example, webBasics site reports will no longer include the sales report.
Localization - we improved and increased the coverage of the admin interface translations into German, French and Japanese
Site Settings -> Ignored IP addresses has been relocated under Reports -> Visitors -> More.
    BC-Dreamweaver integration performance improvements
Development Dashboard has been removed, as it didn't provide a clear useful, ongoing benefit. The information present in the development dashboard has been integrated into our new Help & Support section.
Payment gateway settings - for more privacy and data protection, we have updated the Payment Gateway configuration screens to obfuscate the sensitive login information. Fields that have been obfuscated are now requiring confirmation.
Report abuse badge on trial sites - for compliance reasons, a "Report Abuse" link has been added to the front-end of all trial sites of free partners that don't have any paid sites. When they click the Report Abuse link, site visitors are redirected to a form submission page on businesscatalyst.com site.

    What's next
The first item on the what's next list might not be news for many of you, but it's definitely one of the most important milestones this year. The Creative Cloud launch is just around the corner, and Business Catalyst is playing an important role in that, as the publishing platform for Adobe® Muse and Dreamweaver. This launch will capture all our attention within the next weeks as we want it to be our best ever.
We'll start our next development cycle on May 15th, while the next Business Catalyst release is going to be pushed live in mid June. That being said, the following items are already on our launch plan for the next release and a few more will join the list. Please expect an update on our 2012 plans around mid May.
HTTP throttling – all page load and API calls to BC will be protected against attacks, this might trigger problems for API heavy sites. We are looking into enabling this update along with our June release, and will help make sure that a reasonable number of requests will be accepted from the same computer per minute.
Automatic site deletion - Starting with the June release, we are going to start automatically delete expired trial sites and canceled sites. Customers will be notified twice before we are going to proceed with deleting the sites.
    Thank you,
    Cristinel Anastasoaie
    Adobe Business Catalyst Product Manager

In reference to this change in the Custom Reports... Better experience when exporting data - to prevent customer confusion when exporting data from Mac computers, we have removed the export to excel option and exporting in CSV format by default.
What is the customer confusion we are trying to stop here? I've got even more confused customers at the moment because all of a sudden they can't find the export to excel option but know it exists if they log in on a PC?

  • NAC OOB logoff feature not working

    Hi all,
I've deployed NAC in L2 OOB VG mode with ADSSO and I'm trying to use the OOB logoff feature but it's not working. The VLAN change detect feature doesn't work either (I think the two problems might be related).
It will work if each user role is assigned a different auth/access VLAN pair but in my setup, everyone has a common auth vlan and separate role-based access vlans. Because of this, I have to use the IP refresh feature as well (this works fine).
I'm running Windows Vista and version 4.8.0 of the NAC software with version 4.8.1.5 of the agent
I checked the release notes and found that caveat CSCth60233 identifies this bug with the VLAN change detect with the workaround being to refresh the IP address automatically after being logged out. Does anyone know of a workaround for this problem to do this automatically? Is a solution for this problem in the works?
Also would anyone be able to help me with my OOB logoff feature not working? I've configured everything according to the documentation.
    I appreciate your responses

  • EMOD HELP- analytics on campaign recipient metrics

    Hi,
I have sent a Campaign out to 27k customers on the 19th January (first time EMOD user).
I need to create reports and analyses based on recipient metrics. So far, I have loaded a report using the Campaign Response History in CRM Reports and downloaded this into excel. What I am trying to find out is how many out of the 27k have received the email (delivered) and how many have bounced back.
    1. Firstly I'd like to undertand what exactly do # of Recipients, # of Recipients, # of Hard Bounces, # of Open Responses, # of Responders, # of Responses, mean? So far I have figured out that soft + hard + open = # responses. Not sure if that is correct?
    2. Some lines show blank in the count of # recipients, #responses etc... however there is an email address in the appropriate column. Has the email been sent or not? Has it been delivered? How can we make sure?
    3. Then, looking at the 'Email' columns in my excel spreadsheet (this is who we sent the campaign to), it looks like some email addresses are missing (blank) however they are in CRM? Has the campaign been sent or not?
    4. I'd also like to understand some individual lines reading as:
    # recipient: 44
    # soft bounces: 0
    # hard bounces 15
    # responders 28
    # responses 35
    # opened 20
    email address: [email protected]
Is all of this for just 1 single email? Does this mean that the email was sent multiple times to just one single address? Why do the # recipients show 44?
    5. Why do some lines show responses metrics if the email is blank?
    6. On the overall campaign, how can I accurately measure the number of emails that have been sent and delivered?
Any answer to these questions would be great - sorry I know there are loads of questions.
    Kind regards
    Carine

    Carine, here is my response:
    1) See below for definitions.
    2) All email recipients who have an email address and who do not have the Never Email flag checked are Sent an email. Whether they receive it or not is not always known. See below for explanation of why we don't always know if an email was received.
    3) I'd have to see the report to understand what you are describing.
    4) # of Recipients - Count of Campaign Recipients
    # of Responses - Count of All Campaign Responses (Opt in to List, Opt out from List, Global Opt-out, Global Opt-in, Click-through on trackable url, opened email with images turned on)
    # of Responders - Count of All respondents for a campaign (how many recipients clicked something?)
    # Hard Bounces - Count of responses where response type equal to ‘Hard Bounce’
    # Soft Bounces - Count of responses where response type equal to ‘Soft Bounce’
    # of Open Responses - Count of responses where response type equal to ‘Message Opened’
    # of Click Through - Count of responses where response type equal to ‘Click-through’
    # of Opt Ins - Count of responses where response type equal to ‘Opt-in’
    # of Opt Outs - Count of responses where response type equal to ‘Opt-out’
    # of Global Opt Ins - Count of responses where response type equal to ‘Global Opt-in’
    # of Global Opt Outs - Count of responses where response type equal to ‘Global Opt-out’
If your report was set up to report on one email campaign, then this is what the metrics are reporting on.
    5) I'd have to see the report to understand what you are describing.
    6) The recieving email server does not always tell EMOD that a message was received. If the email contained the Track Message Open tag, and the recipient receives html email and has images turned on, then EMOD will get notified that this email was opened. Otherwise, EMOD does not know if the message was opened or not (unless the recipient clicked something).
    Hope this helps.

  • Hard Bounces from Email Campaigns

    Hi,
Is anyone else experiencing problems with hard bounces when sending a campaign to a large database? ie 1000 recipients
Is there an easier way to invite them to double opt in than clicking on each person individually and sending it?
I've also noticed the live feed is not accurate when sending out email campaigns.
    Thanks,
    Tammy

  • Hard Bounces - Email Campaign

My client sent out an email campaign to 81 recipients. The campaign generated 25 hard bounces. Is there a way to get more detailed information about the reason for these bounces? We are trying to evaluate this result -- a high rate of hard bounces (over 30%) Your reporting does not provide much information.
    Thank you.
    Catherine

    Hello Catherine,
Please submit a case if you haven't already on this so we can investigate further with the following details...
    Site URL
    Email campaign name
Is this happening with any other campaigns/sites?
If there is any specific domain emails for hard bounce, please mention that.
We'll may need to look into this further.
    Thank you,
    Sanjit

  • Bounce-Management in Email-Campaigns

    Hi everybody,
we, SEW-Eurodrive, try to get the email-bounces from our email-Campaigns back into our CRM-System. For internal email-bounces everything works fine. It does not work for external emails.
Our email-gateway from Borderware give as bounces messages of type "message" back and all the bounce-information as attachement. Can that be reson why it does not work?
How has the bounce to be structured that SAP-CRM is able to handle the bounce?
Has anyone experiences with Borderware gateways?
Since there is no way to cutomice the Borderware gateway: What can we do, if SAP-CRM is not able to handle attachements?
    Thank's for your help!
    Kind regards,
    Stefan

    Hello Stefan,
if you check SAP code, it will not change anything in an eMail which comes back as a bounce from whatever mailserver, it just update some data to execute the rules which are maintained in ERMS.
Therefore the problem you have with Borderware mail server is the standard behaviour of all external mail servers, which normally send back bounces as an attachment and that is how it works in standard SAP CRM system.
Moreover, there are many different mail servers, some do not attach the original eMail. Try one if you can if that crucial one for you.
