Can Fire Action be removed using personalization?

Hi,
One of the scenarios in a custom application that we are developind is,
1. Status of item is displayed using a colored image.
2. Admin user can click on the image and edit status.
3. Noraml user can see them image but can't click and change.
We are using "Fire Action" to redirect user to edit page. (Satisfys admin requirement). We don't want to develop another page for normal users.
Can we remove Fire Action for regular users by using personalization?

This is the correct way of doing it, you would be having this mapping already defined in the DB for you to identify the role of a user.
I dont think you can control this at runtime using personalization in a simple way.
what you can do as a workaround is that, you can define another column/item and hide/show, either the new item (without link to navigate - For Normal user) or the existing item with the link based on the responsibility, this can be done using personalization.

Hi,
1. Can I create new item using personalization and refer to the item in the another region (for example there are 2 regions in my page R1 and R2, R1 has fields a,b,c and R2 has salary,empno,deptno , so can I create a field FFF in R1 and refer to deptno in R2.Suppose you have a 2 region like R1 & R2.
R1 contains three MessageTextInput Box. (eg a,b,c)
R2 contains three MessageTextInput Box. (eg x,y,z)
Then you can create a new item in any region & its will only impact your UI. (i.e. It will be displayed under the region where you have created it.)
2. if answer to above question is yes, then if user changes the value in deptno, will this get updated in the apps.The data in the new field won't update the automatically unless & untill, you attach EO based VO to the newly created item.

Problem in using Fire Action using an Image

I have used image icons on my table rows so that if the user wants to edit or delete a record he shall click on the image icon which fires a "Fire Action". Due to that I render a region at the top of my table and populate with the record's data to be edited or deleted.
Now if the user clicks on the edit button and the edit region renders at the top of the table region and without cancelling it or saving it, he goes out of the page.
When he again comes back to the page, this Edit/delete region is still rendered but ofcourse without any record's data.
To stop this I tried to put the unrendering function in the process request of the controller of this page. Here the problem is that, if I put the unrendering function in the process request of the controller, it shall unrender when the person opens the page, but again it shall not render the Edit/Delete region when the user clicks the image icon on the table bacause every fire action goes through the process request and the process request unrenders the region.
Kindly suggest how can I take care of this situation, as often the user goes out of the page without clicking on cancel or save button of the edit/delete region and lateron when he revisits the page and enterd the data, it gives Stale data error.

thanks for your reply, however I used the following in my process request:

You need to make use of switcher Region, for achieving your requirement. Refer Developer Guide for more details on Switcher Region.

Hi Pratap,
You cannot directly personalize the field in the DFF..
however there is a workaround. I haven't tested it.
1. Hide the DFF
2. Create a new Flex region for the same DFF again
3. Now you can choose the segments as you like (hide or display, readonly or not)

Hi Harry,
If the values are defaulting from the "initial value" property it can be set to null by removing those values from personalization, but I feel it will be defaulting from code if it is so, same can not be achieved by personalization.

What "app cleaner software" ? I ask because installing Photoshop over a previous version has never been a problem. Perhaps your difficulty stems from another source, eg. "cleaner software" ?
If you look in your hard drive, at the root level there is a Library. In there is a folder called Application Support, and in that you will find a folder called Adobe. Files from your previous version are there.
However, I urge you to call Adobe support to make sure you are not doing anything that would mess up other Adobe applications.

Can we change the prompt of textfield using personalization

Hi,
I want to change the prompt of a textfield using personalization. I changed the prompt using personalization, but still it is showing the old value. Also I changed the rendeered prompt of a field to false and still that filed is coming up in the page. Also I set the default value to null to one of the textfield and that value is coming up with some value when the page is loaded.
Can I do all above 3 using personalization or should I extend the controller.
User personalization is false for those fields.

I did the personalization of the one date field and that worked and it is readonly now. The other field is created by bean by Controller..so I can't do personalization on that. I extended the Controller and added the code.

Using Personalization options ,Can we pass a parameter from existing jsp to the custom jsp url given in the button/link added through personalization?e.g if A is existing jsp and B is new(custom jsp)added for button,then on the click of the button, can B take parameter from A?

Navigate to Assignment Screen. Help > Diagnostic > Custom Code > Personalize
Create a new item : say "Mandatory Payroll Name"
Condition:
Trigger Event:WHEN-NEW-BLOCK-INSTANCE
Trigger Object: ASSGT
Actions:
Object type: Item
Target Object: ASSGT.PAYROLL_NAME
Property Name: REQUIRED
Value: TRUE
Apply / Save.
Exit form and re-enter Assignment Screen to check.

to battery icon never shows strength greater than just the tip of the
indicator except when I go to Verizon corporate store where they have a
booster. It happens in and out doors. I have not removed the sim card. This
