Can quotation marks be displayed within a formula field?

I am wondering if anyone has a method they may know of to allow the display of quotes within a formula field.
Example: I have an if then statment I would like to display "The term "Owner" means...." with the quotes around the word "Owner" appearing in the report.
This sentence is in the middle of a pargraph which doesn't lend itself to leaving the quotes in a text box on either side of the field.

or

Suppose I am interested in coloring each part of a text returned by a formula field with a different color.
For example I have the following string:
Local StringVar Diagnosis := "I am trying to color my text.";
And I would like to color "I am" in red, "trying to color" in blue, and "my text" in green.
Is that possible (using Crystal Syntax)?

Yes, but suppose I have field that outputs this text: "I have 1000 Cars"
The "1000" is dynamic (embeded field), which means it could go to 1000000 (increasing the number of digits) and then shif the word "Cars" to the right. What I need is to color this "1000" .
I do not want to seperate the "1000" to another text box. this will not shift the "Cars" to the right when the digit increases. Also it is not convenient to expand the text box as well, it will look like this: "I have 1000 Cars".
Any solutions?

Type tool quotation marks display like greater-than symbols

I'm having trouble with getting quotation marks to display correctly, they look like 2 stacked >> symbols. They change slightly depending on what font I'm using, but they all ride at the base of the text. I cannot acheive normal looking curly or staight quotes at all. I have tried switching smart quotes on and off in the preferences, restarting, etc. I've noticed this problem in the past, but I thought it was the font I was using. The same thing happens with Times New Roman. I'm running an up to date version of PSextended CS5, 64bit on win 7 64. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure if this is where you looked, but check the overall Windows settings as follows:
Click Start and type Language in the search box. When Region and Language comes up, click it.
Look through all the tabs to ensure everything's set as expected.
Outside of finding something unexpected in there, it's never a bad idea to try resetting the Character tool, or even the Photoshop overall preferences. To reset the Type Tool, select the T tool, then right-click in the T tool icon in the options area:

Summary on a formula field that makes a condition on a running total

Hi,
How come I can't create a summary on a formula field that makes a condition on a running total ?
My running total field is a counter that counts the number of individuals
My formula field contains this info :
IIF ( ( {#counter_running_total} <> 1)
 or ( {#counter_running_total} = 1
 and {status.code} = '04' )
 or ( {#counter_running_total} = 1
 and {status.code} in \[ 208 , 996 ])
,0,1)
When I right-click on the formula field to insert a summary, it does not allow me.
Do you have any idea I can show the information in a better way ?

Thank you very mutch for your reply, I tried it and it works.
The thing is, I would like to reset the counter on change of group, and put the manual running total in the group footer.
Is there a formula I could use to reset the counter ?
When I write in the group header :
whileprintingrecords;
numbervar i=0;
it does not reset the i to zero, instead, it writes "false" and continues to increment in the footer.
do you have an idea ?

How can i get the correct text from a string like it show in the original source with the quotation marks in the right place ?

The text is in hebrew so the problem is that sometimes the quotation marks not in the right place.
For example i have this text: תווית
על בגד: ''תן לאישה לכבס. זה תפקידה''
This is the source original text you can see the quotations marks and they are not in the right place and all i did is copy paste.

The problem is in the line:
if (ListsExtractions.lockedThreads.Contains(l_node.Text))
When it's getting to the line with the quotation marks it's never equal.
Now there are more quotation marks.
In general the problem when comparing both text if it's having quotation marks it's not the same.
So i have two options:
1. To fix it somehow so the quotation marks will be the same in both variables when comparing and also the same like in the original as they show in the html page.
2. To remove the quotation marks from both variables.
What should i do ? And how ? I was prefer to use the original quotation marks like in the original since they have a meaning in the place they should be. The question is how can i do it ?

Ok, it is unclear on what is happening here.
Are you saying that when the webclient gets the data that it is not honoring the quote characters? Or the processing of the data buffer is causing issues?
This is what I see the of your example text which is trying to be parse out:

It appears to me that the escapes `’` does not have matching `“` anywhere within the tooltip. So it appears that the page properly places left quotes in when processing the page, but the raw html has broken text.
Hence a garbage in, garbage out situation.

Quotation Marks display as boxes

I need to figure out why in some instance quotation marks
display as boxes.
This may also be a ColdFusion question but I'll start here:
I have a site that displays articles from a coldfusion
database. The articles display fine. There is no css or font tag
applied to the text (so basically displaying default fonts).
Now, I gave the page a new name and surrounded the code with
formatting css. All quotation marks display as square box. I
thought it may depend on the font that I chose (Ariel). So I
removed the css style sheet for a moment but the quotation marks
still show as box. Since I have the same code to pull the data,
same browser, same computer, this is puzzling.
Any idea what is causing this?

Are the quotes 'straight' quotes, or 'curly' quotes? Although
both straight
and curly quotes are special characters (" and
“ respectively) a
' " ' (i.e. straight quote) will usually appear as a straight
quote when put
directly in the code, but I have never had curly quotes
appear correctly. I
guess this is because quotes are used within attributes and
so on in regular
HTML.
If this isn't your problem then someone else will answer
better than I
have...

Quotation marks display as &quot in web pages, I'm using Unicode UTF-8 character encoding.

On many web pages, where a quotation mark character should appear, instead the page displays the text &quot. I believe this happens with other punctuation characters as well such as apostrophes although the text displayed in these other cases is different, of course. I'm guessing this is a problem with character encoding. I'm currently set to Unicode (UTF-8) encoding. Have tried several others without success.

BTW, I never use IE, but I checked this site in IE and it shows the same problem, so maybe it is the page encoding after all rather than what I thought.

When downloading text, quotation marks, commas & apostrophes are rendered as gibberish. How can I cure this?

If you have a problem with display of fonts in Firefox, you can try to change font setting in Tools menu, Options window, Content panel, fonts section.

I assume you mean the feature where you press a single quotation mark button and the appropriate version of it appears depending on whether it's left or right of the next character? In which case, no, on iPhone you have to enter each quotation mark with different buttons.

Servlet Displaying Quotation Marks as Non-Printable Characters

I have a servlet which is reading an HTML file and displaying it's contents. My problem is that, in the output, quotation marks in the source html (" and ') are being reproduced as non-printable characters (). Furthermore, the same servlet prints the quotation marks fine under the Linux OS and Apache Web Server, but does not under the Windows (2000) OS and IIS Web Server (running j2sdk-1_3_0_02-win). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Code in question is below. "str" is the line from the file. :

Technically, you don't need to add the "\n" in there anyway. Newlines mean nothing to an HTML file if all you're doing is displaying that file. The lack of a carriage return, when the HTML is parsed, is completely irrelevant.
Also, when handling large String concatenations, it's always going to be more efficient to use StringBuffer.

I keep getting "quotation marks" at the end of every line when I type. How can I eliminate these marks as they are even showing up when I print and I will not have on my wedding programs! Please help (from a desperate bride-to-be)!

It sounds like you are using an East Asian font and unless you are issuing invitations in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean that doesn't sound like a good idea.

Printing a quotation mark (") in concatenate formula?

Hi, I'm trying to write a function using =CONCATENATE() and I want to know how to add a quotation mark to the output without it screwing up the forumula.
This doesn't print out the quotation mark " between B2 and B3:
=CONCATENATE(B2,""",B3)
I've been able to do it by referencing another absolute cell with a quotation mark in it, but that's definitely the wonky way to do it.
I think what I'm looking for is an escape character. In Excel, it's four consecutive quotes that prints a single quotation mark """"

How can I type curved quotation marks on iPad2?

I have recently started using Pages for both my Mac and iPad2 so I can continue typing on documents through iCloud. However, on my iPad, whenever I type quotation marks, rather than curved quotation marks, it is only allowing me to type straight quotation marks. How can I type curved ones? example:
On Mac: “I like apples.”
On iPad: "I like apples."

EIther tap and swipe up or tap and hold the " key. This will bring up a menu of additional characters including the two curved marks. While your finger is still touching the screen, slide over to the character you want and then release.
BTW, Further characters can be found by using this trick with other keys. For instance you can type a percentage symbol from the 0 (zero) key.
