Can't connect TV or Blu-Ray through WRT54GL

I have both a Sony XBR52HX909 and a Sony BDP-S580 connected to my router (WRT54GL)via ethernet. When I try to connect to the internet, both show the wired connection as good but neither can connect to the internet. The BDP-S580 also has wireless connectivity, but it can’t connect to the internet wirelessly. I have two desktop computers connected via ethernet and two laptops connected wirelessly to the same router and all have internet connectivity.  I have tried the “auto” settings on the TV and Blu-Ray player and also tried entering the network information in manually. I still can’t connect to the internet.
   Any help would be appreciated.

First of all download the latest firmware from the Linksys/Cisco website and update the firmware in the router. Here is the link for upgrading the firmware in the router: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=e9c2361ee7974d75913e61386a712188_4030.xml&pid=80&r...
After the successful upgrade of the firmware, reconfigure the router. As far as the reconfiguration is concern you need to do the setup:
The router’s power adapter needs to be plugged to your router and into an available power outlet.
If using a wired connection, the first Ethernet cable needs to be plugged to the computer’s LAN port into any of the router’s blue numbered Ethernet ports.
The second Ethernet cable should be plugged to the modem’s Internet port and the other end into the router’s yellow Internet port.
Ensure that you have no firewall enabled that may prevent the router from being detected.
Now you have to configure the router manually according to the type of Internet service you have.  Follow the instructions below for your specific Internet service type:
Here is the link to set up your router with Cable Internet service: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=0ff4c94586a345d082828ec2161aaecf_3686.xml&pid=80&r...
Here is the link to set up your router with DSL Internet service: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=20ee1457387f40178cd5f41d4b585db4_3687.xml&pid=80&r...
Then check the connectivity status.

  • Connecting MBP to blu ray player

I am just wondering if there is any way to connect an external blu ray player to mac to rip blu ray discs? If yes, which blu ray player? The BD player I have from Pioneer BDP-09 can be connected via usb? I don't need to write blu ray discs but want to rip discs to mkv format. Any possibility under OS X or Windows via boot camp?

Discussion of ripping copyrighted movies is not permitted on these forums, as it's not legal to do so.

how to connect my sony blue ray play to wifi via my airport utility?

The airport utility has nothing whatever to do with the sony bluray player.
The airport utility is to setup wireless in the airport.. once you setup wireless then you use the sony setup for wireless in the player as per its manual.
Please do keep the wireless names short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
As well as pure alphanumeric passwords if you want to do this successfully.

    Here's a quote from it
"The video itself looked fine when it played properly, but it stopped and started constantly, and often displayed with huge, ugly artifacts. And at times, the app would freeze completely and require a force quit.
Just to make sure it wasn’t a problem with one Blu-ray disc, I tried some others. With Hot Tub Time Machine the results were much, much worse. It got a few seconds into the United Artists logo before the movie and completely froze playback. On several attempts. With David Cronenberg’s The Fly, playback was generally better—but the software played the ‘making of’ movie instead of the actual film. I thought there might have been a preference to help with the movie selection, but—wait for it—the Preferences item didn’t do anything when I selected it."

I'm trying to get a bug database running (mantis) under Mac OS X Server 10.4.4 that I can access from local clients.
I'm trying to follow directions at http://www.mantisbugtracker.com/manual/manual.installation.php
without knowing anything about mysql or php and I'm stuck on step 3:
"Next we will create the necessary database tables and a basic configuration
    file."
    I get a message saying
"Does administrative user have access to the database? ( Lost connection to MySQL server during query )"
I don't even know if following the mantis directions has resulted in the creation of a database or not. Where would it be?
    Thanks for any help.

I've just done a clean install of OSX Server and added the latest MYSQL packaged installer. Afterwards I found the lock file in /private/tmp/mysql.lock
The easiest way to solve this problem is to create a symbolic link so that the lock file appears to be in right place.
    e.g.
    cd /var
sudo mkdir mysql <== this assumes the directory is missing
    cd mysql
    sudo ln -s /private/tmp/mysql.sock mysql.sock
After this msql commands should work fine, and you've not fiddled with the security settings on users/groups.

  • "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock'"

    Data Services=3.1
    Repository=12.2.2.0000
    Red Hat Enterprise 5
    Designer,Job Server,Job Engine=12.2.2.3
After an unscheduled server reboot with DS up and running when trying to start a job in either Data Services Management Console or DS Designer getting the following:
"Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock'"
The mysql.sock have never been in /tmp and on the production server it does not exist there and the production server is up and running correctly. If a link is created to mysql.sock(/home/user/boedge31/bobje/mysql) the job will start but return this message:
"Cannot retrieve <Version> from the repository. Additional database information: <SQL submitted to ODBC data source <localrepo> resulted in error <MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver mysqld-5.0.46-enterprise No database selected>. The SQL submitted is <select VERSION, SECURITYKEY, GUID from AL_VERSION where NAME = 'Repository Version'"
I checked and AL_VERSION and the Version field exist.
Before the shut down DS was working correctly and had no issues.  My best guess is a part of the repository was corrupted during the unscheduled shut down.  It seems like DS has "forgotten" some of the settings.
Any suggestions on a possible solution?

    The issue has been solved.
There was a bad path in $LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
Removed the path and DS started working again.

Why won't my Airport Express allow internet connection on my Blu Ray when there is internet connection on my IMac?

I'm guessing you only have the modem/router supplied by your isp and the Airport Express.  Is the Airport Express connected to the modem/router with an ethernet cable?  If not, plug one end of the cable into an available port on the modem/router and the other end in to the WAN port, indicated with a dashed circle, on the Airport Express.

  • Connecting TV to Blu-Ray Home Theater

I have a 46G310U LCD TV and a Sony HBD-E770W Blu-Ray Home Theater and I cannot get the sound from the TV to come through the Home Theater.  I have followed what I can determine from both owner's manuals and cannot get it to work.  I currently have an HDMI cable connecting both and analog audio cables plugged in.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated; I would really like the sound from my XBox to go through the Surround Sound and not the TV.
    Thanks!

You can get an optical audio cable to connect those 2 devices that should bring all the TV sound (including games) to the AV system.  Don't be ripped off, you can get your cable for under $5.  Look at like  http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=102&cp_id=10229&cs_id=1022901&p_id=1419&seq=1&format=2

  • IMac internet sharing failing to connect to my Blu-Ray disk player.

I have a Late 2009 iMac 27-inch. I have setup internet sharing through wifi. All of my iPods, iPads, iPhones connect just fine. But when I try to connect my Blu-Ray disk player, it gives me a timeout error. It is a Panasonic DMP-BD87P-K. I have called Panasonic, but they didn't offer to many things.

Internet Sharing is clearly working. The only options you can configure are the type of security and the channel. If changing those doesn't help, then either the device is too far away, or it's incompatible.

  • I get a msg"failed connection" when trying to connect Sony dvd/Blu-ray player to tv

Hello Wendyd, thank you for your message. Welcome to SONY Community!
    Error: Physical Connection Failed
Follow the steps below to resolve this error message:
Make sure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the Sony product and the router or modem.
If the Sony product still does not detect the router or modem, try connecting the Ethernet cable to a different LAN jack (if available) on the router or modem .
If still no connection is detected, try replacing the Ethernet cable.
NOTE: The Ethernet cable can be tested by unplugging it from the Sony product and connecting it to the LAN jack on a computer. After turning off any Wi-Fi® option on the computer, try using the computer to access the Internet through the Ethernet connection. If the Internet cannot be accessed, the cable should be replaced.
