Can't create new users in Administration Services Console

Hi,
I am following directions in the Essbase DBA guide for creating new users, as it says you must create a partition user to work with Samppart and Sampeast applications. It tells me to log on to Administration Services Console, go to the Administration Server, and right-click on users to create a new user. However, when I right-click, the option to Create New User is light grey and not clickable, neither is the option to refresh users. Can anyone tell me why I can't create a new user? I am logged in with the username: admin password: password that I set during configuration and that should be the Administrative account.

Hi,
What version are you using? If it is 9 then you need to create the user in shared services. I just checked and the option to create a user is greyed out for me too and I am an admin.
It sounds like you haven't externalised the users which is why the option to do a refresh is not there.
Thanks,
Nathan

  • Can't create new user, Permission Errors in Console

I just purchased a new 2013 iMac with a 3TB Fusion Drive. I'm trying to dig and fing out why I'm currently unable to create and log in to another user account. I haven't manually changed any permissions in the terminal, and I've booted into recovery mode and attempted restore all Disk Permissions (my next step is to run Onyx). After creating a new user account, when attempting to log into it, the log in screen hangs and just loads endlessly. The console output is as follows:

Does anyone know what's causing the issue?

Well, the possible fixes I tried ended up hosing my permissions (somehow considering they shouldn't have an I was re establishing root user permissions where they belonged). I had to boot into recovery mode and reinstall Mountain Lion (thank god that it keeps all of my files) and that pretty much corrected everything on it's own. Does anyone know of the exact reasoning for the above issue? Which file or folder it's coming from?

  • Can't create new users after GroupWise is moved from NetWare to Linux

    Hi,
I moved GroupWise (Version 6.5 SP 6, single domain and single office)
from NetWare 6.5 server to SUSE Linux Enterprise server 9. It seems the
GroupWise server is running oaky. Existing users are able to connect
their mail box and send and receive messages. But I can't create new
    users on the GroupWise server.
I used ConsoleOne installed on the Linux server to create new GroupWise
users. It seemed that I was able to do it. The new users appear on the
NDS and the GroupWise File IDs were assigned for these users. And I was
able to add these new users to distribution lists. But the users DB
files (userXXX.db) were not created under /grpwise/po/ofuser on the Linux
server and they cannot connect to the server. Old users cannot find them
    in Novell GroupWise Address book.
Does anyone how to fix the problem?
    Thanks in advance!

This clearly sounds like your domain (which is the part of groupwise
which you admin against) doesn't/can't talk to the postoffice, so the
change you made (to the domain) does never get to the PO (which is where
the addressbook of your other users come from, and is what is
responsible for creating the user DB). This seems very likely to be
caused by your move not being done properly, and old information (either
path or IP address) for the PO still being in the domain and/or domain
    database.
So how's the domain linked to the PO?

  • Visual Adminstrator: can not create new users

    Hi,
I've got a problem with my "Sneak Preview SAP NetWeaver 04 - Full Java Edition with Web AS Java 6.40, MaxDB, and Developer Studio" (NW04 SP15) installation. Whenever I start the visual administrator I can not create a new user. All buttons excepting the Refresh Button are disabled.
If I use the web (http://..../useradmin) I can create new users.
Now I want to change Security Policies in the Visual Administrator. But the problem is the same.
    Does anyone know any solution?
    Best Regards,

    Hi Tobias,
In VA => Security Provider there is a change button ("pencil") in the top of the right frame. You should enable other buttons by clicking this one.

  • If you can't 'Create new user account' - try this!

Over the last few days I've wasted many hours trying unsuccessfully to create a new user account so I can post to Apple Discussions. Kept going round an endless loop, back to the 'Create New User Account' form. Tried every possible solution I found through internet searches, to no avail.
The answer, for me, turned out to be simply choosing a different alias - one that nobody else was using, presumably.
Why, oh why, isn't there an error message that tells you this? It would have saved me so much time and frustration - and many other people too, I'm sure.

Welcome, finally, to Discussions - you are not the first to complain about this, if you like, you can go to app.com/feedback and register your complain there as well.

  • Can't create new user account....

Hi- I am trying to create a new user account so that I can see if some of the issues I am having with my G4 Mac also are issues under a different account. I have (several times) created a new account and assigned a password and also tried having no password. Either logging out or using Fast User Switching, I click on the new user icon and either type in the password (I know I have it correct since it's my default password) or not type it in if I have no password set, and click on login. That's when I get the shaking window. No matter what I do, I can't login!! I am at a loss of what to do or what could be causing this. Any help will make me a happy Mac user again! Judy
PS- After I had this problem surface, I ran Monoligual and got rid of lots of language support and I also ran Font Nuke to clean out some font caches.... but these were run after I had problems setting up a new user account. I was having issues with the new upgrade for my genealogy program, Reunion (still having issues actually-they can't figure out what's causing the problem) and I removed some "things" from Login Items. Can't tell you what they were but I have some there still. I ran Disk Warrior and iDefrag also recently. Also have repaired permissions. The other issue I had (yesterday anyway-haven't used it much today yet) is that Safari was crashing when I was accessing my public library's online catalog............. I don't know if any of these are related to my inability to create a new user account or not but thought I'd throw that into the mix.

You say a dialog comes up for you to enter a password when you don't have a password while using Fast User Switching. That should not happen.
If you set up an account without setting the password, Fast User Switching won't bring up the password dialog for that account. Instead, it will instantly switch to that account when you choose it.
Make sure there is nothing in the password field when you set up the account, or change the password and don't type anything in for either the new or verify fields. It'll ask you to confirm that you don't want a password and "Cancel" will be the default button. Choose the "Ok" button instead.
That should do it. If not, then I have no idea.

  • Can't create new user accounts

I somehow lost the ability to create a new user account. I currently have two admin accounts and would like to create another account. I can go through the setup with name, password, etc but when i hit create i get the spinning loading sign and a beach ball for minutes. Finally, with me force quiting system prefs.
I've run permission and disk check and everything came back fine. Is there anything i can do?

If installing the COMBO didn't do the trick, then start over, reinstalling SL from the install disc, and see if that fixes the issue. If so, rerun Software Update, installing everything that pops up, repeating until your software's up to date, repair permissions, and restart. If not, then I'm out of ideas and you need to contact AppleCare or take the machine into an Apple repair station.

  • User can't log in / Server can't create new users

I recently updated to OS X Server 10.5.5. Now one of my users can't log in. Wrong username or password the system says. I've reset the password but it doesn't help.
When creating a new user I get this error:
"The server reported the error '-14120' while trying to create the user."
    How can I fix this?

Well, to move the stuff, make a New Account, log into a different admin account & get BatchMod, it's much better/easier than the Finder for recursive Permission changes...
    http://www.lagentesoft.com/batchmod/index.html
Now careful with BatchMod, it's crazy powerful, but easier than Command Line.
Oh, this bad user isn't using FileVault I hope???
OK, once BatchMod is loaded, you can drag the whole bad user's folder to it's icon and set the Ownership/permissions to the new replacement user, check Apply to Enclosed items, go.
Oh, if you have room you might make a copy of that User's folder first & use the copy.
Then open the bad User's folder, Select All, drag to new replacement User's folder.

  • How can I create new user in such that its entries are stored both in profile server and ldap?

Portal only creates a user profile locally within its native ldap server. Two ways you can approach this is to either write a custom auth module that creates a user in the ldap server at the same time or handle it through replication.

  • Can't add new users in Server Admin console in Server 10.1.4.

I've run into an issue with an older OS X Server 10.1.4 running on a G4 platform. It functions as a shared file repository and I need to add new users. However, it would appear that I've developed a problem.
When trying to add new users I get the following error:
An error occurred in the Users & Groups module in entry point "RACMMenuItemSelected".
    A program error has occurred.
    1004
Now, my best guess is it's a corruption somewhere. But, I don't want to go poking around the production server taking it down and up until I've got some idea where I'm going. Any suggestions on where my troubles might be? Or has anyone had this issue before, and how was it corrected? (Hopefully not by a full software reload.)
I'd like to replace/upgrade this server, but until there's money in the budget, that's just a dream, I need to try to figure out how to fix what's here.
    Help, please?

No answer was found for this issue. I've finally removed the server from production and will likely reformat and reinstall for use in other production areas. Hopefully we'll be upgrading the OS at the same time.

  • Can't create new User Identity in OAM backed by OID

We installed with the following steps:
    1) Downloaded OIM from OTN (10.1.4.0.1)
    2) Installed OIM, selecting only OID, onto a dedicated XP server
    3) Downloaded OAM from OTN (10.1.4.0.1)
    4) Installed Identity Server onto the OID server, updating the OID schema with Oblix entries
    5) Started the Identity Server service
    6) Installed WebPass on top of Apache 2.0 on a separate XP server
    7) Restarted Apache 2.0
    8) Accessed server/identity/oblix and went through the WebPass setup
Other than seeing a bunch of A-caret characters, the screens all look good.
    9) Logged in as orcladmin to OAM
    10) Tried to Create User Identity
This fails with a 'You do not have sufficient access rights' error. The only user we have in the OID is orcladmin. Looking into the directory, orcladmin is a member of Oblix/Directory Administrators and Oblix/Web Masters.
We're trying to setup OAM for SSO and add custom modules for user provisioning to our application (OTM). Any help is appreciated.

    Hi
You have to create user workflow so as to enable user creation in OAM. If the workflow is created then make sure that user has access to the workflow.

  • Can't create new users

We're having issues with user accounts. I can add a user just fine and completely set everything up. When i try to login with that user account to an iMac that did run the directory setup I can't authenticate with that user. It says that user doesn't exist. I am also unable to delete the user and it looks like the userID is blank. Very weird errors.
pg 181 open directory administration manual 10.5 talks about if you leave orphan keberos identity then it will conflict with user and computer records added later.
Is this what we're having problems with? Is there a quick fix for this? We only have two users now and can't really do anything else at this point.

    Hi,
We upgraded our company email server, which effectively runs our email, DNS, Open Directory with dozen users. Last night the system was upgrading from 10.10.2 to 10.10.3, which seemed rutine.
The upgrade process hung while it was finishing the installation and didn’t finish. Upon reboot, it looked OK and needed to upgrade the OXS Server to 4.1 from the previous version. Which I proceeded and completed.
Since then we have lost all of our users accounts and can’t access the email data. Tried to reboot from the backups and it seems that the somehow when booting from external backups 10.10.2, we get a message that the OXS Server is not compatible. Our backups are usually done using Carbon Copy Cloner.
Not sure what to do, help is greatly appreciated. While I can recreate the users, I don’t want to damage the email data.
    Many thanks,
    /Oliver
