Can't launch Script Editor 2.2.1. It silently quits.

Script Editor 2.2.1, which comes along with the latest Security Update, will not launch. It's icon is generic too. I have re-downloaded and re-run the Security Update with no improvement.
Console reports this much:
Tuesday, October 21, 2008 7:37:56 PM US/Eastern
Oct 21 19:38:03 mini Script Editor[209]: Unable to load nib file: SEMainMenu, exiting
Oct 21 19:38:03 mini com.apple.launchd[124] ([0x0-0x28028].com.apple.ScriptEditor2[209]): Exited with exit code: 1
I also discovered the new Script Editor (showing package contents) doesn't have any of the numerous "SE" files in its Resources folder like version 2.2 does.

For anyone who still needs an answer to this topic (like I did)...
I have uploaded the required resource files that are needed to run this corrupted Script Editor here:
http://www.esnips.com/doc/37fb3e73-67f4-4ae6-9cd0-f7d9da5e3a5e/Script-Editor-Res ource-Files
Just put this folder in the Script Editor Contents folder.
Let me know of any problems if anyone tries this please.

  • Installer launches Script Editor

I am trying to reinstall After Effects and the installer only launches Script Editor. same thing happened when I tried to install a printer package.
This is really frustrating, any help would be gladly received.

I am not familiar with this software. Is the installer an installer package (ie. does it have an icon that looks like an open cardboard box)?
If not, the installer for this software may be a self contained application which may have incorrectly become associated with "Script Editor.app". Unsetting this association can be accomplished by resetting the "Launch Services" database one way or another, but as a short term workaround, try adding the extension ".app" to the installer to see if it will run.
If the installer has the icon as described above, ignore the previous paragraph.

  • Links to launch Script Editor no longer work

Links to launch Script Editor no longer work.

I don't know, I just use a very simple Applescript to enclose the clipboard in tags that allow the user to launch Script Editor from the browser:
set the clipboard to "<a href=applescript://com.apple.scripteditor?action=new>Click here to launch Script Editor</a>.
    <pre class=COMMAND>" & return & (the clipboard) & return & "</pre>"
And it wraps the script on the clipboard on PRE tags so the structure is preserved. Neither of those work now.

  • Photoshop Elements 2.0 launches Script Editor

When launching Photoshop Elements 2.0 today, the icon in the dock changed to a blank file icon and the Script Editor launched. The icon in the application folder did the same.
I trashed the Elements application folder and reinstalled with the same result, three times.
I repaired Permissions and restarted before and after installing.
I have launched every other application on the machine without incident, so it seems confined to Photoshop.
The same thing happened to the backup copy of Elements on the external drive connected to this machine.
The only change since last using Elements successfully is the installation of Machacha, which splits and joins video files. I also trashed it as part of my recovery effort, to no avail.
Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes out of the blue, for no evident reason, Finder/LaunchServices stops recognizing programs that end with a dot and a number as programs. I suppose one could try to discover why, and fix it, or you can just use GetInfo to change the application name from "Photoshop Elements 2.0" to "Photoshop Elements2.app"--which is easy to do and so far has always worked.

  • Can not open script editor in HDS

    Hi everybody,
When we open Script Editor, we see the notice: "cannot connect to distributor, script editor will now exit"
Can you help me to resovle it?
    We use ICM 7.1
    Thanks you so much!

You might also see this message if the services are running, but you are using Windows Remote Desktop (RDP), and are not logged in with console mode.
    Try this:  mstsc aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd /admin
where aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd is the IP address or hostname of your HDS.  The /admin switch gets you in with console mode.
Net-net, you should see the ICM process' console windows on the taskbar.  If you don't, then either the service isn't running, or you're not in /console mode.
fyi - ICM 7.1 is long-since end-of-life.  You should seriously consider upgrading to a more recent, supported release.

  • Z10 can't launch apps a month after 10.3 upgrade

The device boots up fine, but troubles start right away: Picture Password doesn't work, the phone falls back to plain password entry. None of the apps can launch. When I try, the launching animation plays for a few milliseconds, with the program's tile appearing on the home screen and sometimes starts zooming to cover the screen. If the animation lasts long enough, I can see the loading screen, but at that point it always vanishes. The more apps I try to launch, the faster they disappear. There's two exceptions: The help app always stays open for longer, but it never get past the splash screen. In a testament to RIM's work, the phone dialer app still works. It launches and can make phone calls. The call log is empty, and trying to see the contacts tab causes it to hang. It's comforting that despite the mess my device is in, I'd still be able to make an emergency call. I can slide down from the top of my device to see the option pane. All the toggles work, like brightness, notifications, nfc, bluetooth, wifi. But trying to launch the settings from their doesn't work. Neither does bedside mode. The WiFi is connected and so is the cellular. The hub takes about 15 minutes to start. Once it is loaded, I can see items in it, but I can't open them or select them. After another ten minutes, I'm even able to go in the hub settings. I can't compose. Eventually, I get the message "Some Accounts Failed to Respond". Some functionality is intermittent: sometimes when I click compose I can see the list of messages types (but can't launch any editors), sometimes I can make the delete/file icons appear, sometimes I can access the hub settings, sometimes I can search. The volume keys work. But I can't take screenshots. USB access is intermittent. BlackBerry Link sometimes detects the device, but sometimes it's unable to connect to it, other times it can connect to it but none of the functionality in Link works. Sometimes, the ethernet interface doesn't even exist after I plug it, sometimes it doesn't get an IP address, other times it does but the device doesn't respond. I can use the command line tools to get info from the device (when usb is working), see a list of installed bars, but the connection is closed if I ever try to upload a (valid & signed) bar. I tried to use Sachesi to do backup with no success, it tells me that I don't have a BlackBerry ID. The device is logged-in with a bbid. The alarm clock works. It also goes off after I reboot the device, with about 50% chance I think. When I boot the device, it always shows the apps I had opened before the device broke. Until the hub finally finishes loading, the red notification light blinks. The device broke while I was managing my contacts. I was settings a custom notification on a contact, and it kept getting removed. It might've had something to do with contact duplicates sometimes appearing. On the main contact app screen, I suddenly couldn't edit contacts anymore. When I selected one, the only options were "add contact", and another one which I forgot. My phone is an STL 100-3 and I updated to 10.3.1.1784 exactly a month before the troubles began. After the upgrade the majority of my photos on device memory were missing, although I'm not sure if it's related to the upgrade. Hopefully all these details can help RIM fix this. I could probably run an autoloader and get my phone running again, but I'm really hoping to eventually get my data back somehow. I've set it aside and I'm using another phone for now.

Yo! I'm the poor dude who's experiencing the same awkward trouble as you are.At the moment I still couldn't figure a soution for it though (that is, excepting a factory reboot) but I'm still hoping that something will eventually come up. Same as you I set it aside and am using another phone in the meantime cause I do want to get my data back. My best guess would be to do an OS downgrade without data loss but I don't know if that will be possible since we cannot reach the phone via Blackberry Link and the phone itself is rather blocked so we wouldn't be able to get even to the Configuration app... Cheers.

  • Address Book opens when a script is opened, while script editor was closed

    Hi,
    Something puzzles me :
I have a very simple script with only these two lines :
    tell application "Address Book"
    end tell
This script is saved as a simple script.
When I open the script with script editor,
    * if script editor was already open, the script opens normally and I can edit it
    * if script editor was not already open, then Address Book opens itself (and the script opens itself with script editor)
What explains the opening of Address Book ?
What can I do to avoid this auto-opening of Address Book ?
    Thanks for your help,
    Nicolas

You were right, the script will not compile. (there are some instruction between the "tell" and the "end tell" lines)
There are a couple of solutions to that one.
The first is that the script will compile if you're only using standard commands like 'activate', 'quit', etc. inside the tell block - these commands are universal, supported by all applications, and therefore you don't need the application dictionary.
If you are using application-specific commands, though, then you can provide the Script Editor a hint as to which dictionary to use via the using terms from command.
This tells the compiler which application dictionary to use when compiling the script, but it shouldn't affect opening the script. If you're only targeting one application and don't mind this workaround, it could be your solution:
    -- here's our target application
    set appName to "Address Book"
     -- let's target it
    tell application appName
-- now provide the compiler a hint as to which application dictionary to use
using terms from application "Address Book"
        -- commands go here
      end using terms from
    end tell
When it comes to compile the script, AppleScript will use the application in the using terms from statement instead of the (unknown) application in the tell statement.

  • Where is the Script Editor?

I have looked everywhere for the script editor and i can not find it anywhere. I am sure it is in an obvious spot and i just am missing it. Is there a step I am missing or is it named something else? Please someone help me out.

    Hi,
I think that you may need a different Adobe forum. This forum relates to LiveCycle Designer, which is a form development program. It's not strictly part of the CS4 suite of programs (albeit that it does come bundled with Acrobat Professional).
If you do have LiveCycle Designer open, then you can access the Script Editor from the Windows menu.
    Good luck,
    Niall

  • Is Script Editor 2.0 latest?

Script Editor seems to have disappeared from my machine. I've been using Smile, so I didn't miss it, but now I want to test with Script Editor before I deliver an AppleScript to a client who doesn't have need nor want Smile.
Apple->Support->Downloads offers Script Editor 2.0 that works with Jaguar and up. Is this really the latest available?
My client recently installed Tiger. Can I expect Script Editor 2.0 to be on his machine, or might I have to load it?
I wonder what happened to my copy? I don't normally throw Apple apps away.

Spyros: The folder of interest in your Applications folder is not "Script" but "AppleScript". Is that folder empty?
Dott: I guess it would be great, but it feels weird. Apple must have a solution here somewhere.
Let me suggest that either of you post a fresh question, as this one has already been "answered". Perhaps doing so will attract someone more knowledgable on this point.

  • Can fljs launch a shell script?

I'm stuck on trying to figure out a long process (as flash does not allow to publish from the terminal (hint, hint adobeDev people).
How can I launch a shell script after a *.fljs has published the a swf file, so it can push the swf file further down the process?

As has been mentioned, you can run Applescript. You would use:
    do shell script "/path/to/your/shell/script"
You could also write an Automator app, and use the "Run Shell Script" action.
NOTE: Make sure the environment running from iCal is sufficient for your needs. You might want to do a test run with the following commands to see what your environment is:
    ( id -a # user id
echo "$#" # number of arguments passed
echo "$@" # all the arguments passed
pwd # your current working directory
    printenv # your environment variables
    ) >/tmp/iCal.bash.script.env.txt

  • UCCX 10.5(1) Script Editor Refuses to launch

    Greetings,
Last week it worked fine, this week when I click the Cisco Unified CCX Editor icon to launch the script editor I get a flash of the splash screen then nothing.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled.  Uninstalled and gone back to delete any directories, cleaned any reference to wfavvid out of the registry and reinstalled.  Reinstalled Java.  All to no avail.  I am trying to figure out if there were any windows up dates that were applied since the last time I had this working.  Something is definitely being unpleasant.

    Thanks!

Please launch Editor once directly from its exe keeping Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys pressed. Delete the settings file when prompted.
    See if this helps.
