Can't open HTTP server socket on port 50000 in dispatcher

We get the following message in the console_log for the dispatcher.
ID000544: Error starting service http. Can't start the service due to java.io.IO
Exception: Can't open HTTP server socket on port 50000
[ServiceManager]: ID000544: Error starting service http. Can't start the service
due to java.io.IOException: Can't open HTTP server socket on port 50000
[Framework -> criticalShutdown] Service http startup error!
Anyone have any ideas what might be the problem?

Hello Keith,
this errors occurs when the port http 50000 is already taken. Please could you check if this port on your machine is free or an other dispacther instance is already started on same machine. You can change the port in sap j2ee config tool (dispatcher-> services->http)

Can't start http server ASControl service

Hi, I installed http server from companion cd for oracle 10.2.0.3 but when configuration assistants was setting http server give the message failed.
Now i can´t start http server service.

So I'm tying to run a simple applet on OS X from eclipse and i get this message in the console:

by the proxy. In order to bypass the proxy, I used to code something like:

I think the data you are seeing is part of the telnet negotiation sequence. http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc854.html
A telnet session is more complex than opening a TCP socket.

I have been offline for a long time since I had a business trip two week ago.
I can not start the apache http server, so it isn't on running status within NT services manager.
In fact, there is someting wrong---fail to create FastCGI when startup. Oracle system message tells me that syntax error exists on line 92 of isqlplus.conf but I don't know how to correct it.

Oracle Http server 11g, change ports with command-line tool

I have installed the WLS11g webtier's Oracle Http server 11g. I installed the OH 11g only.
The OH is runing fine with ports: non-ssl 7779 and ssl 4444
I want to change the ssl port to 443 such that we can have the url without showing the port as https://hostname.domain/
I have looked up the documnet http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/core.1111/e10105/ports.htm#CIHJIFHB for "managing port".
it states "You can change the port numbers for some Oracle Fusion Middleware components, using Fusion Middleware Control, Oracle WebLogic Server Administration Console, or *the command line*."
Because I only installed the OH, I have no the Fusion Middleware control , admin console available for making the port change. And I cannot find out how to the command line tool to make the change.
I followed the steps in section 5.3.2.1 Enabling Oracle HTTP Server to Run as Root for Ports Set to Less Than 1024 (UNIX Only) http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/core.1111/e10105/ports.htm#CIHJEEJH
And I did edit ssl.conf for port change to 443 ---- this is not documented in the document. I think because Oracle wants you to use the console to make the change.
OH is not working after I made the change.
Does anyone know how to use the commend line tool for making the port changes for OH11g?

Using Command Line Option WLST you can do it in ONLINE Mode...like:
Step1). Please run the ". ./setWLSEnv.sh" script to set the CLASSPATH & PATH in the shell prompt.
NOTE: Run the “setWLSEnv.sh” by adding two DOTs separated by a single space …..before the actual script like following : (use ‘cd’ command to move inside the <BEA_HOME>/wlserver_10.3/server/bin) then run the following command….
*. ./setWLSEnv.sh*
Note: the first DOT represents that set the Environment in the current Shell, AND the second ./ represents execute the script from the current directory.
Step2). Now in the same Shell Prompt please run the WLST Utility like following:

java weblogic.WLST
wls:/offline> connect()
Please enter your username [weblogic] : weblogic
Please enter your password [weblogic] : weblogic
Please enter your server URL [t3://localhost:7001] : t3://localhost:7001
Connecting to t3://localhost:7001 with userid weblogic ...
edit()
startEdit()
cd ('Servers/AdminServer')
cmo.setListenPort(9999)
save()
activate()

Now you NEED NOT to restart your Server to reflact these Changes....
The Above JMX Code is also able to do it in Runtime only on the Fly.

Can't start HTTP Server

Hi all
Oracle people please help
I can't run my forms in DevSuite 9i-got error FRM1042-Http listen is not running on <machine>:8890 port.
I tried to start HTTP server from services(Control panel)-i noticed that HTTP sevrer properties i set to be manual.Starting HTTP server gives error 1067: The proces is terminated unexpectedly.
Before starting forms i got OC4J started.
http://<IP address>- gives nothing. HTTP server is running on port 80(default).How to change port for OC4J?
Does anybody knows how to get around? PLeeease..

Hi all
I guess i helped myself.I was started my forms with IPaddres instead of machine name on port 8890
I ping my machine and the IPaddress was changed.
I forms Preferences i inert new Ipaddress and form i srunning.
Can somene explain me why my IP address has been changed and why HTTP server status is still stoped.If i start browser with http://ipaddress:8890 i can see the servers main page and it is started and running

Can't Start HTTP Server Service

I can't seem to be able to start the Oracle HTTP server service on NT.
All other service get started properly but when I attempt to start the HTTP Server service I get Error 1067: process terminated unexpectedly.
Any idea why this is happening?
My installation of the DB and 9iAS did not give any errors.
Any comments appreciated

Can't open https pages on web

I have an iMac running OS10.3.9 Safari does not open http pages at all. The following message: "Safari can't open page "http://www.(whatever website) because it couldn't establish a secue connection to the server "(whatever website). I have exhausted the Safari & MAC help without success. This started a few weeks ago. Needless to say I have been using a different browswer to access these websites but would like to use Safari again.

Your behind a proxy server -- disable it.
You running a third-party firewall -- disable it.
Hawaiian_Starman posts the following and it work for many people.
Quit Safari and add DNS server numbers to your System Preferences ->Network panel.
Select your type of connection and then select Advanced.
In the DNS servers panel enter 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 if you live in the US and click Apply.
Outside the US - use 208.67.222.220 and 208.67.220.222 and click Apply.
Launch Safari and from the Safari menu select Empty Cache - try the url's again.

Can't open msg server in console

When I launch the console, I can see the messaging server, but can't open it. The error message is "Can't set uid and gid". What could be the possible cause?

The mail server user needs to have a fully valid unix account.

There is actually little you can do with the Console in any case. Most configuration is done via editing files or the configutil utility.
What is it you need the Console for?

Can't open messages linked to a web page address, eg can't verify my email address to Mozilla support when I click on conformatiob box, I get a pop up box labeled. Launch An Application, in box it says, This link needs to be opened with an application. Send to:, in inner box it says, choose an Application, at the side of this is a choose button. At the bottom ofthe outer box is a tick box labeled, Remember my choice fot https links.
When I click on the choose button I,m shown another box Labeled Another applicatin inside the box is
the My Documets box etc.

The pop up you are telling about is the persona verification so just type your email id in the blank space provided and click the link next to that your id will get verified.

Safari can't open https

Hi,
I need to acces several https cites, but the problem is that safari can't do this.
I'm using the latest version of safari 5.0.1, there are no extension installed (except for Adblock), MacOs 10.5.8
I'm connected to the interned via wi-fi router, and I've got no chance plugging directly to the internet without router.
The problem is, that when I only connected to the internet using router safari did open https cite, but after may be two hours and till present refuses.
I tried reseting safari, clearing its cache, repairing permissions and restarting my mac - but it's still the same.
any help will be appreciated

It's AdBlock that causing the problem. Go to Safari / Preferences - AdBlock and click Uninstall.
Restart your Mac.
You should be able to access https sites again.
If you want a better ad blocker get Glimmer Blocker for v10.5 and up.

That could be exactly what happened. The server could be having a problem or the path to the server is down.
