Can't play download

The download won't play and also won't transfer to ipod. Get error message when trying to transfer to ipod: it just says can't be copied to ipod because it can't be played on ipod. But also won't respond when I click on it to play on the computer. I have downloaded many songs and this has never happened. If I try to download again they will charge me.

It may be a corrupted or incomplete download. Contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the form at the bottom of their web page and explain the problem to them.

Is QuickTime installed? If not it might help to install it.
If so is Direct3D Video Acceleration enabled? If so it might help to disable.

  • Can't play downloaded tracks

    hi All
i've just had to buy a new desktop PC, I've got icloud so I haven't lost any tracks from itunes, apart from the tracks that i've downloaded onto my phone since not having a PC, so I haven't been able to back up my purchases. they're showing in itunes, but in a lighter grey colour, and I can't play them, how do I get them back??

Nothing. Those songs are corrupt; delete and redownload them if doing so is free in your country.

  • Can't play downloaded mp3 on Nexus 7

download page allows open, but nothing happens when played.
would also be super helpful if you could download a file and save it in dropbox

What an arogant response aaron. Many of us who use Windows have purchased iPods, and are simply looking for them to actually work.
You clearly like your Mac and think Apple can do no wrong, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the question posed here. Your advice is worthless.
I too have problems with iTunes since upgrading to Vista. During my upgrade I had problems with three previously installed software packages. For two of those, I was able to find helpful information on various web forums that enabled me to resolve the problem. However, for iTunes, every forum I have found that discusses the issue has several folks chiming in with the same kind of snotty attitude as you. Frankly, it's just not helpful.
Believe me, if I wanted advice from you about what computer to buy, or which OS to run, or anything else, I'd have asked those questions directly. The question asked here is how to make iTunes work properly on Windows Vista. If you cannot answer that question then please just shut up and go somewhere else to preach your Apple religion.
Now, is there anyone from Apple available to at least give a helpful update on when a fix for this will be available? ("In a few weeks" is not a helpful answer - particularly when that statement was made MORE THAN a few weeks ago.) I have posted the same question to MS on thier forums too, but haven't heard back.

  • Can't play downloaded songs outside of iTunes

Hi. This could well be very novice question, but i could really use some help.
I have purchased an album for my kids through iTunes Store. I have activated the songs, and copied them to my iPod, and all works well. However, my wife tried to copy them to an mp3 player (not an iPod) and they don't work. I have tried looking for the songs on her mp3 Player with Windows Media Player, and they don't appear there either. If i plug the player into the computer, navigate the songs foler in Windows Explorer, then double click a song, Windows Media Player (the Default player on her computer) appears, but claims the song is not a compatible format.
Can downloaded songs be played outside an iPod or iTunes? I note the file extension is m4p, which is not something i have come across before
      Windows Vista

No you cannot play them outside iTunes or an iPod. Due to agreements with the content owners, Apple is required to provide a Digital Rights Management mechanism on their music and videos in order to sell them.

  • Can't play downloaded game

I bought the game Volcanic Panic from the Apple store today and I have downloaded it onto my macbook but when I double click the icon it comes up with the message 'there is no default application to open the document'. Have I done something wrong?

What device are you trying to play it on ? Apps from the iTunes app store can only be played on an iPhone, iPod Touch and/or iPad - the game's requirements should be listed on its description page in the store e.g. which devices that it's compatible with and the minimum iOS version that you need on the device

  • I can't play downloaded shows from iTunes in QuickTime.

I've downloaded Quicktime, installed it. And it wouldn't play my shows from iTunes. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled and still wont play, keeps saying "The movie requires Quicktime, which is not included in this version of iTunes. To play this movie, install QuickTime".... :/ I have a Windows 7 Dell laptop.

    Hello ifeoluwaloju,
The article below details how to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and it's related components. Doing so should help resolve this message.

  • TS1389 Can't Play downloaded movies?

I recently wiped out my computer, but had all of my items backed up. The movies that were restored show up in tunes, but i cannot play them. Itunes wants me to authorize my computer, which i already did, but when i try it again, it says that itunes is already authorized, but i cannot play the movie.

Doublechecking. In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you also worked through the instructions from the following document?
iTunes: Missing folder or incorrect permissions may prevent authorization

  • IPHONE 4 -  VGA Adapter for monitor can it play downloaded videos

purchased VGA Adapter to playback music video from tubeplayer APP ( youtube) ON A COMPUTER MONITOR / Played back photo video and Photo as slide show but not videos

the app have to support the old type of tvout that the iphone4 supports
since then they use airplay mirror which the apps don't have to do anything extra to support
so guess many app makers removed the feature from their apps

  • All of a sudden I can not play videos that are sent to me, I had no trouble playing them with quicktime before, what can I do?

I have had this iMac for 5 years and have had zero problems with it , I run the lastest software (not mountain Lion) and all of a sudden I can not play downloaded videos that have been sent to me. What can I do ?

Either launch VLC (assuming you have installed it) and then open the file you want to view from within VLC, or, select the file (don't open) you want to view and do Command+I and from the window that appears select VLC from the 'Open with:' option.
You can make this the default if you wish by also clicking on the 'change all' button.

  • I don't understand what's happening with my Music. All the songs that I purchased, that were previously on my phone, now show up a Cloud next to them, but I can't play them. If I touch the Cloud, it turns into a red square but never downloads.

I don't understand what's happening with my Music. All the songs that I purchased, that were previously on my phone, now show up with a Cloud next to them, but I can't play them. If I touch the Cloud, it turns into a red square, acts like it's downloading (which I can see happening in iTunes), but never downloads. The Cloud just stays there.
I've sync'd my phone, I've turned it to "show all music" in Settings, I've drag and dropped the songs/albums onto my phone again. I feel like I've tried everything I've seen recommended, but nothing works.
I've purchased a lot of music from iTunes. It should be there. What's going on?
P.S. Same thing happening with my purchased books. Ugh.

Once you successfully add you iTunes library to iTunes Match, you go to Settings>iTunes & App Store on your iOS device and turn on iTunes Match.  Your iTunes Match library will then appear on your iOS device.

  • I paid for and downloaded an album but can't play one song

Hi everybody, this is the first time I downloaded and purchased an album from iTunes. Note: I purchased and downloaded on my iPhone
I just purchased and downloaded Outasight's "Nights Like These" album. However, for some reason, the third track ("I'll Drink to That") didn't fully download and process. When I go to my music library on my iPhone, "I'll Drink to That" shows up but I can't play the track. Whenever I try to play it, the album just skips to the next track.
I went to iTunes on my phone to try to download it again but "I'll Drink to That" shows up as $1.29 when I specifically paid for the entire album. In fact, the song even shows up in my PURCHASED panel but it just won't play. iTunes wants to charge me again.
    How do I fix this?
    P.S.
the album won't show up as a purchased album on my iTunes on my computer because I downloaded from my phone. How do I fix this? I am afraid if I sync my phone to my iTunes on my computer, I will lose what I have paid for.
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP if u do reply

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option which is revealed in the iTunes app on your iOS device by tapping the more button at the bottom of the screen.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • HT203175 I don't know whether these articles apply or not.  Here's what I seeing in my iTunes program.  When I open iTunes, I see little exclamation points next to EVERY song that has been downloaded.  Therefore, I can't play them from my computer or dwnl

Can somebody help me get rid of these exclamation points so that I can download all my songs to my iPod?  Please?  I don't know why they appeared, as I did have the songs working before and they were on my iPod.  But, I didn't want ALL of them on there and I didn't know I could "select" which songs to send to the iPod.  However, it's been a few months since I messed with it.  But, yesterday, when I went to select my songs, I noticed all these excalamation points on everything that was there.  Help, please!  Again, I can't play them from my computer AND they won't download to my iPod!
    Thanks,

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.
