Can't scan to computer

I have just reinstalled the printer software for OS X Yosemite 10.10.
However I get the message that I do not have the appropriate software to allow scan to computer.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/lj3xh2o64x08y9y/Screenshot%202015-03-06%2019.15.33.png?dl=0

Thanks for that.
There is definitely a glitch that is not us.  I did manage to Email scan and that worked.  It involves extra steps if you wish to verify the quality by sendig to oneself and that extra step is not that convenient.

  • Can not scan from computer, but can print

Since a few weeks I'm not able to scan anymore from my computer using HP Scan. I still can print from my computer. It doesn't matter if my computer is connected to my network by Wifi or by wire. My printer is connected to the network by wire.
Scanning wasn't a problem until some weeks ago. I don't know what change caused this situation.
The message that is displayed on the screen of my computer says 'HP LaserJet 200 colorMFP M276nw-AirPrint is is not available ...'. The reference to Airprint puzzles me.
Does anyone recognize this situation and / or has a solution?

Thanks for providing the screen shots Gvmdh_Hbl.
It still doesn't look like the full driver is installed for the printer. Your missing the Print and Scan tab on the Printers and Scanners window.
Here is a screen shot of what it should look like.
Repair the Disk Permissions and Reset the the Printing System to see if it helps.
Repair the Disk Permissions on the Mac:
    Close all applications.
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, click Applications and then click Utilities.
    Double-click Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left.
Click Verify and then Repair Disk Permissions.
    Restart the computer..
    Reset the Printing System:
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
Click the Apple icon and then click System Preferences.
    Click Printers & Scanners.
Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left white side panel, then click Reset printing system.
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system.
Then click the + sign to add the driver, highlight the printer. (you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name) Then click on the Add button.
If you are still having issues, I would uninstall and reinstall the printer software.

  • Can't Scan to computer with HP 8620 on Yosemite

I just purchased a new HP OfficeJet Pro 8620. When I try to scan to computer, either through the software on my mac or via the panel on the printer, I receive the messages "Scan to Computer Cannot Be Enabled" or when from the printer "Scan Unsucessfull".
This 8620 replaced my HP LaserJet CM1017. I had no problems scanning and printing with this laserjet on the same Mac.
    Any help would be appreicated.
P.S. I tried the tips from this link...
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c04090234&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&la...
Step one: Check the Scan to Computer setting
On the main menu, click the Apple icon (), and then click System Preferences.
    Click Print & Scan.
Under Printers, click your printer, if you see more than one printer.
Click Open Print Queue. The print queue for your printer opens.
Click Printer Setup or Settings. A new window opens.
Click the Utility tab, and then click Open Printer Utility. The HP Utility window opens.
Under Scan Settings, click Scan to Computer.
At the top of the screen, click the check box next to Enable Scan to Computer, if it is not already checked. Scan to Computer is enabled.
When I get to step 6, there's no Utility tab.

    Hi there @faruz
    Welcome to the forums
I saw and read through your post about the scanning issues you have been having with your Officejet 8620 and Yosemite. I have some steps that I would recommend to see if they help!
    In order, try:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
    Repair disk permissions
    Restart your Mac
Re-add the printer, here's the full driver: HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers
Good luck, let me know the outcome!

  • HP7520 Still can't scan to computer (Mac)

I've seen NUMEROUS posts from folks with the same problem:
The "Scan to Computer" function on the printer doesn't work, even though all other printer functions between the computer and printer work fine.  Printing works fine.  Scanning from the computer works fine.
The printer's display shows the computer name when Scan-to-Computer is selected.  But when the scan is initiated, I get a message on the computer:
"Scan failed - an error occured while communicating with the scanner"
and a message on the printer:
"No Connection - no computer is connected..."
But of course the computer IS connected!
On the Mac, the HP Utility's "Enable Scan to Computer" button is grayed out, with the explanation that the HP software required for Scan to Computer could not be located.  Nothing I do let's me enable it.
Numerous posts on this forum, for this and other HP AIO printers, say to uninstall all the HP printer software and drivers, repair disk permission, reinstall the Full Feature printer software, and reinstall the printer drivers.
Did all that multiple times.  Same problem.
Scan-to-computer used to work at one time and I used it routinely.  Not sure exactly when it stopped, but may have been after upgrading to OS10.9.
Has anyone actually solved this problem?  All the posts I've seen on this problem seem to end without resolution.

    Hello jonnie_s,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand when scanning from the Photosmart 7520, you receive a message "Scan failed - an error occurred while communicating with the scanner". I will do my best to assist you!
How is this printer connected? Wireless or USB? I realize you did state that your operating system is 10.9, but are you running the upgraded version such as 10.9.1? Please let me know on this post.
Have you performed all the Apple updates on your computer? If not, could you please follow this Apple document here. When you reinstalled this HP software, did you use the CD or the HP website?
I would make sure you have completed every step from this HP document on A 'No Computer Detected' or 'Connection Error' Message Displays during Scanning.
I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great night!

  • Officejet 6700 can't scan to computer

Scan to Computer suddenly stopped working (scan to USB device still works). Downloaded driver software several times; at first scan to computer would work briefly before failing, but now has stopped working altogether. Error message displayed is "scan to computer cannot be enabled" and "remedy" recommended is to install the driver software. But reinstalling the software doesn't help.

  • Can't scan to Computer using MFPM425

Just bought a new MFP M425.  There is no feature to "Scan to PC" , rather 1) scan to USB, 2) scan to Network Folder or 3) Scan to Email.  I want to be able to use the scanner feature to scan directly to my PC and to a pdf format.  There have been some previous posts regarding using "Windows Fax and Scan" but that does have a .pdf option.  Other posts talk about using the "HP Scan software from your PC"    Is the "HP Scan software"  a separate download?  Any other options?  Thanks for your help.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi,
Scanning to a computer from teh front panel is ot supported on many Laserjet devices such as the M425.
If the printer is connected to the network you may set a shared network folder and scan PDF from the front panel, that an be set as following:
    http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=5096243&docId=emr_na-c03463750&docLocale...
If you prefer to use the HP Scan software install the full feature software on your PC, scanning can be initiated from the HP Scan software on your PC, not from the front panel of the printer.
The full feature software can be downloaded below:
    http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=5096245&swItemId=ma_104479_4&swEnvOid=406...
Then the HP Scan software will be available under Start > Programs > HP > the printer folder.

    Hi @1hopeless,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I understand that you are unable to scan to your computer.
To better assist you would you please provide some additional information:

How is the printer connected (USB cable, ethernet, or wireless)?
What operating system are you using on your computer? whatsmyos.com
Are you able to make a copy from the front panel?

  • Can,t scan to computer on hp photosmart pre. C309g all in one series

    Cannot scan to computer

Hi,The product front panel allow you to scan to computers with full software installed only, such a feature not provided for portable operating systems. In order to scan from iOS, you may use the HP ePrint Home & Biz app, available from the App Store. Then you may scan by launching the scan job from the app. Regards,Shlomi

  • Can not scan from mx4890dw buttons, only from the computer

    Hello,
I got this Canon AIO a few days ago. I followed the start up guide instructions, got it signed on to the wireless net work easily enough, and installed the software from the CD onto a Win 7 64 bit Dell laptop.
Printing worked perfectly from the get go. Also, "Copy" seems to be working fine. Fax appears to be working, although I can't confirm yet that a fax has gone through ( no one is at work ) and I may have some questions later about how to send and receive fax when sharing a phone jack with a Comcast modem/cable set up. And how to get it to accept faxs while ignoring voice calls.
As for Scan, after I figured out that I had to push the scan button and choose "remote scanner" ( I push the scan button/Remote scanner/ buttons, get the message "waiting" and then operate from the computer) the scan function worked perfectly, in single and duplex, when controlled FROM the computer and Canon MFC toolbox software. But for the life of me I can not get it to scan from the Canon mx4890dw buttons. I push Scan, then "computer", then I select my computer ( there is only one computer), then either color or BW scan. All seems OK until here. But after I select color or BW,  I get a screen that says :"Scanning" with the choice to either cancel or "confirm destination". I select Confirm destination, which then takes me to a screen which says: Confirm destination" showing both the name of my computer and "color scan". That is it, as far as I can go. If I press "OK" it just takes me back to a choice of confirm or cancel. I am trapped in a cycle between these last 2 screens. Once I get to the next to last screen that says "Scanning: cancel or confirm destination", the processing data light starts flashing green. After a minute or so it will stop flashing with the message "an error has occurred/CLOSE". Oh, BTW, I have registered the scanner on the Canon MF Network Scan Utility.
So, I figure there is some button I am failing to push, or I am missing a step. Any one have any ideas on how to get this to scan from the Canon machine?
    Thanks
    Bill

Thank you Deborah, but after many hours of trial and error, time spent with Norton 360 AV/Firewall folks, many install/uninstalls ( especially after I saw on the E-manual that if you plug a cable from the printer into the computer, and you want to go back to wireless, you must uninstall/reinstall the software), the problem is finally apparently completely solved.
I found what I thought might be the problem by accident. When I last got off the phone with Canon, all they had to suggest was that it was either a Norton or firewall issue, or possibly a computer issue, and nothing they could really do or suggest about that. I accepted this, but while wondering what in the world I was going to do, it dawned on me that my previous Kodak all in one( that this machine replaced) had worked fine, with no scanner problems at all, with this computer, Norton and network. So it seemed like it had to be something other than those things. And I believe a Canon inkjet all in one before the Kodak had also worked with no issues scan wise.
Then I decided to try something else on a whim: I cranked up my old Acer Win XP and installed the software, and guess what happened? Perfect function in all ways from the printer/scanner. Scanned perfectly from the Canon using the panel buttons on the printer. And over the wireless network on an old computer using the same Norton Firewall as my Dell. So it now seemed impossible that it could be the network or firewall. It had to be the only variable, the computer or someway the canon was in conflict with the Win 7 Dell. I bet you can see where this is going! So I go to the online support for Canon and sure enough there are Windows 7 drivers for download as well as a firmware update. So I down load these and clock on them, but as far asd I can tell, nothing happens. It appears they did not complete installation.
So the next day I am back on the phone with Canon. Asking in desperation if they can think of anything before I return this machine back to Staples and get something else, which I really hated to do, but I can't take any more of this, as now it had stopped printing also( but all still hunky dory on the Acer!). But this time, the person I am talking to quickly asks if I am trying to install wireless, and says "hold on while I get you to the wireless guys". The wireless expert listens to my problems and quickly says "did you download the Win 7X64 driver?". I said I had tried but it didn't seem to do much. So he has me download it again and shows me the trick: when you click on the download, it creates a folder somewhere else where the driver is actually stored. I click on that driver, and 10 minutes later all is working perfectly. In fact, before I even hang up with the wireless guy, I press the buttons on the Canon and scan quickly to the computer.
So for now all seems perfect, just as it was immediately once I tried it on the Windows XP machine. So I suggest that this be the first thing suggested when folks are having trouble installing on a Win 7 computer. In fact, I have since noticed there is a sheet of paper that came with the canon that advises downloading drivers for Mac computers. Too bad it didn't mention this for for Win 7 also, since apparently at least some of the installation CDs don't include these drivers.
Now I am wondering if I should try and do the firmware update? Kind of afraid to fix what ain't broke.

  • HP Photosmart 5520. Can't scan to my computer

HP Photosmart 5520. I can print FROM my computer just fine, but can't scan from the printer TO my computer. Message is "Connection Error." This happens sometimes, but usually I can fix by turning everything off, disconnecting, and starting over. Today nothing works. This is getting tiresome. Printing works fine.  BTW, I do not control the router & can't just turn it on and off. I am not technologically savvy; I just want the thing to work.

    Hi,
The scan to computer is disabled by default (I don't know why the software girls/guys desinged that way). On my machine, driver for Windows 8 is much better (even same exe file). Please enable it using the following steps (please note: for Windows machines)
Double click printer icon on desktop,
       Click Manage Scan to Computer,
       Click Enable
You may want to tick the last square too.

    Hi @pfgoodman1,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you can scan to email but cannot scan to computer using your HP Officejet 6830 and OS Yosemite. I am sorry to hear this but I am happy to help!
First, I would make sure that the full feature software and driver is installed and not just the basic software.
Then I would recommend the following guides:
Scan From the Control Panel (Including Scan to Email, to a PDF, and to a Memory Device) for HP Offic.... (Select Scanning a photo (.jpeg) or document (.pdf) to the computer.)
A 'No Computer Found' Message Displays for HP Officejet 6810 and HP Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One ....

  • Can't get HP 8620 all-in-one to scan to computer. Advice?

    I just bought a new printer/scanner/fax - HP 8620 all-in-one.
I have Mac OSX 10.9.3 and the most up to date drivers/software from the HP website (april 2014).  I have connected the printer via ethernet cable to our wireless router.
I have installed as per intructions.  When I go to HP utilities, I have been able to set up "scan to email" but not "scan to computer". Keeps saying that "scan to computer" software is not available and that I need to go to hp support website to download the latest version (which I already have).
Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling - no help.
    Any advice?

You can't use the scan button on the printer. You have to start the scan from OS X.
