Can't see business areas in Discoverer user edition

I have setup a business area and folders in admin edition. But when I go to user edition I don't get the list in available business areas. The folders are set to 'visible to user'. What could be the reason.
Thanks in advance.
Alok

Each user much have (security) access to the business area,
and have the 'user edition' privledge.
Both of these settings can be found in the Administration Edition
under the Tools menu.
While you're there, you can review the settings for the Query Governor
as well.

  • CAN'T SEE BUSINESS AREA IN DISC DESKTOP

    Hello,
I have recently created a new business area in discoverer administrator with user A. I have cheched under security and privleges and everthing seems to be as it should. After that I went to Desktop to create a new workbook, but when I would like to select items that will be in my workbook I don't see any business area...Is there any special reason?

    Hi Aparna
actually I was not. I thought that if i log with a user A he will be using his own EUL by default (I created the user and eul just before creating BA, then I logged to desktop after that with the same user). So in deskotp I went under tool to change EUL and it worked.
Thx and have a nice day,

    Hi,
This is probably because the business area security is stored in the same table. So you will probably find that where GP_APP_ID is null then GBA_BA_ID holds the value of the business area. You should change your query to just select where GP_APP_ID IS NOT NULL.

  • Cannot see Business areas in Admin (4.1.48)

    Hi,
I have created a number of business areas in Discoverer Admin (4.1.48) and have granted them to users to use in desktop version.
This was working fine until today.
We had a refresh of the test environment yesterday and I was able to access the areas fine today until I created a new one - then all the pervious ones disappeared.
The strange thing is that I can still see all the previous ones in Desktop version. I have checked the security and privileges and all seem ok. and I am using the same log on for both
Anyone know what is going on?
    Thanks
    Michael

    Russ,
I think that if is was a permissions problem then you wont see the business
    areas in the desktop either.
Most likely that the desktop and admin uses different euls.
In Desktop go to help about menu to see the EUL used.
Do the same in discoverer desktop and compare the euls used.

  • Giving rights of Business Area to Other Users

    Hi,
I had created one Business area in user1. How do i give rights of this business area to other user so that the other user can able to use this business area in user edition.
    Thanks
    Ramesh

    Hi Nichole,
Before assigning Business area to Plant/Division , check the DEFINE RULES BY SALES AREA.
Check which value is assigned in that configuration
    Path: SPRO-->ENTERPRISE STRUCTURE--->ASSIGNMENT-->SALES & DISTRIBUTION-->BUSINESS AREA ACCOUNT ASSIGNMENT-->DEFIN RULES BY SALES AREA
    check this and revert

  • How can I make Business area field optional in MIRO

    Hi,
whyle posting invoice the system is asking business area as required input.
I don't want to put business area.
Is there any way to avoid this ?
I don't want to change, spro settings.
How can I avoid business area in MIRO?
    waiting for your input..
    Thank you,
    Marella.

check the GL accounts field status variant attached to the Invoice posting.
also check in PO whether u have the BA field filled up. in case u r using BA accounting then that value shld be there..... as u said u dont want to put BA as field in miro , that means u r not using BA thing... so u can always maintain all the FSV of GL for BA as optional/supressed...

    I am new to Discoverer
I have created a business area in EUL with user name and password as dewip/dewip in Discoverer administrator and now when I am logging in to Discoverer Desktop with the same user name and password to create workbook I am able to log in but I am not able to find the Business area in the Discoverer desktop.
After creating the business area do we need to do anything ( We don't even have save option to save also).
In Discoverer admin -> tools-> privilages I checked to see the privilages for this user ,but I could not see this user name(dewip) only.
    Please help me ,its urgent.
    Thanks,
    gsr

    Hi gsr
If you are working on Desktop and you change the default EUL but it doesn't stick this means that you don't have Admin rights over your machine.
In order to make these setting stick you need to have permission to update the system registry.
If you really cannot be given these rights then I suggest you ask you system admin to change the registry setting for you on your machine so that it reflects the correct EUL. You will find it here:
    1. From the Start button, use Run | regedit
    2. Open your registry to display HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Software | Oracle | Discoverer 10
    3. Expand the folder called Database
    4. Inside here you will see one set of settings that begin with AEUL and another with UEL. The format is like this:
    AEUL_username_database and UEUL_username_database
    5. You should see the name of the default EUL in the column called Data
    6. Right-click on the setting you want to change and from the pop-up select Modify
    7. Type the name of the EUL that Desktop should default to for that user in the database, making sure you type it in UPPERCASE
    8. Click the OK button
    9. Close the registry
When you now connect to Discoverer Desktop you should be in the correct EUL.
Note: this is only required if you don't have admin rights on your PC. If you do have admin rights then Discoverer will set this for itself.
By the way, if you or anyone reading this is unsure about manually editing your registry you should back it up first. Here are the steps:
To backup your registry, follow this workflow:
    1. From your PC, click Start | Run
    2. In the Run dialog box, type "regedit" and press the Enter key
    3. The registry will now be displayed
    4. From the registry menu bar, select Registry | Export Registry File
    5. When the Export Registry File dialog box opens, give a name to the file you want the registry to be saved as
    6. In Export Range, check "All" or "Selected Branch" - Selected Branch will export the current folder, so if you happen to have already navigated down tp the appropriate Discoverer Administrator folder you will be able to back it up
    7. Click the Save button
    8. Close the registry editor
To restore your registry, follow this workflow:
    1. From your PC, click Start | Run
    2. In the Run dialog box, type "regedit" and press the Enter key
    3. The registry will now be displayed
    4. From the registry menu bar, select Registry | Import Registry File
    5. Navigate to the folder in which your registry is saved and locate the file
    6. Click the Open button - the registry will be restored
    7. Close the registry editor
    Best wishes
    Michael

  • CAN NOT IMPORT BUSINESS AREA AS IT SAYS - JOINS NOT FOUND WHERE REQUIRED

We have recently migrated from Disco 4.1.48.08 to 10.1.2
Everything looks ok - we are able to look at existing workbooks and business areas. And we can export business areas successfully.
    However
When we try to import some business areas it returns - JOINS NOT FOUND WHERE REQUIRED and fails. This is now causing a problem with how we promote from our test/uat and prod environments.
    any ideas ?

Here's some information from Support that helped me...
Discoverer has many options on exporting and importing objects. Entire End User Layers, Entire Business Areas or only selected objects could be exported. To simplify the process of exporting and importing Business Areas, it is suggested that the export and import process should be done with entire Business Areas. The reason why it is not recommended that selected objects are exported and imported as a norm is to simplify maintenance.
It is still possible to export and import selected objects, but a knowledgeable Administrator is recommended to head the procedure. The process could get
very complex and difficult to manage.
    Some Additional Notes:
    - Join conditions are exported, but are not indicated as an object. Join conditions are only exported ** if ** the joining folders are exported.
    - If the ‘refresh’ option is performed in Discoverer Administrator on an object and the underlying object on the database is not available, the object is dropped from the EUL. It is of utmost importance that the objects exist on the underlying database before the ‘refresh’ option is executed.
    - Functions and Workbooks are not exported when exporting an entire Business Area. Functions and Workbooks have to be exported separately.
The first bullet is what was giving me this error "JOINS NOT FOUND WHERE REQUIRED". I was unable to do a full export - another unrelated error, so I came up with an alternate solution. I created a new BA that only contained the standard folders that my two custom BA's referenced - by JOINS and inclusion in my complex folders. I exported all 3 and they imported into the new instance with no issue.

  • Can''t see inbox.mbox file in user library

For some reason, I can't see a .mbox file for my inbox when I look in my user library Mail folder. I can see a junk.mbox; I can see a deleted messages.mbox, but no inbox.mbox (or sent.mbox, for that matter). Can someone tell me where those messages live in the library? They must be somewhere, but I can't seem to find them. I am about to migrate to a new Mac Pro, and want to make sure everything gets to the new machine. I am currently using my laptop as my main machine, because my aging dual-867 mhz. MDD machine is nursing a dying hard drive, and nothing has been able to repair it, so I stopped using it. Of course, I still have a lot of mail on the old machine, and I wanted to archive the inbox contents to a .mbox file that I could import to the new computer. Are these mailboxes different from other mail folders? Thanks for any help.

Hi and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates.

  • Set default business area in discoverer

    Hi, All
I have a problem about the business area shown in the report. That is, When I open discoverer report, the business area that show in the drop down button does not match to the folders that I use to create my discoverer report. Anyone know how to correct this problem?
    Thank you
    Mcka

Same issue here. I noticed one thing that by default the first Business Area in the list is shown & not the one we choose for current report. And i don't think, Oracle can provide any way to change it because Reports are associated with folders & there is no clear association of reports with Business areas.

  • GB e-filing - can't see business systems

We are trying to implement GB e-filing using XI.
Our 4.6C R/3 system is shortly to be upgraded to ECC 6.0 so we are moving from Business Connector to XI.
The XI system is installed and appears to be running OK. It is the latest version with the latest patches.
We have a central SLD on our Solution Manager System (v 4.0)
The XI machine and our QA (upgraded to ECC 6) are in a landscape in the SLD.
We have got a good way through the e-filing document at
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/cd/5a0641f753f523e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
but have got stuck at Stage 6 [A] 3. 2. which says
    2. On the Tab Business System Services for A2A, use the F4 help and select the business system on which the SAP HR component 6.00 resides in your system landscape
    We can't see any systems.
Any idea what needs to be done to see our ERP system?

    Hello Prakhar
    Thanks for advice, really useful!
Can you please clarify where exactly I can create the Busines Transactions, such as Norman Correction?
I would like to create Normal Correction via SOLMAN_WORCENTER,so I navigated to Change Management > Common Tasks > New Request for Change (for instance)
After that I'm getting the list of various roles, such as:
Select a business role:  AIC_MANAGER-AIC Manager
    IC_AIC_AGENT-Accounting IC Agent
    AUT-PM-Automotive Partner Manager
    CASEWORKER-Case Worker (Social Services)
    .....etc..
and I don't know which one to use.
Can I still use "old-fashioned" CRM transactions for this?
It all has been changed dramatically if you compare it with 7.0
    Thanks,

    Hello Experts,
We've done 7.1 upgrade and somehow now I can't see all our Business Transactions in CRMD_ORDER.
I executed TCode CRMD_ORDER > went to Business Transaction > Create > and I can see just few Business Transactions, not full list of them as in 7.0.
Now I can create only Business Activity, Outgoing E-Mail & Task. No option to create and see Change Order, Change Document, Corrections (Normal, Urgent, etc) etc.
    Any idea why? Please advice.
    Thanks

  • Win95-Installation of Discoverer User edition

If have installed the User Edition on a win95 computer. But now i have problems with my seriell connections. One programm of psion can4t connect to the palm and the computer is very slow.
Which dll would be installed into win95?
    What is the Problem

Are you sure the Discoverer installation was the only change made to your computer? Discoverer doesn't use any serial ports, nor does any of our code try to deal with ports. Many of us here have PDA's and are not affected by installing Discoverer software.
