Can we have descriptions in an LoV?

I have an LoV attached to a parameter that contains 55 different school codes (each code is a 3 digit number). A particular school's staff member might not necessarily know the code for his/her school, so I was wondering if it were possible to add a description to the LoV.
For example, LoV would look something like:
100 - Faculty of Arts
101 - School of Radio and Television
102 - School of Social Sciences
and so on.
Is it possible, and if so, how?

Is it possible, and if so, how?Yes it is possible what ever column you are picking up for 100 concatinate it with the description column so your lov will display as you require.
Example:- school_codel||'-'||description_col
place this concatinated column in the lov,your requirment will be fullfilled

You can do that. You just need to put proper criteria mappings to make messagechoice item as the criteria. Though keep a note of the fact that the LOV field on the base page should always be configured as a search criteria item.

Problem with a description in a LOV

Hi, I have a problem with a Lov.
I have a LOV with a id and a description link with this id.
When this field is blank I need to search and i push the lov. But when i save and i go back then i can't show the description.
If a put this Field as a dropDownList I don't have any problem, I can show the description.
But with LOV I can only show the id, not the description. Then I need search the description with the pop up of the lov
I'm novate in adf, so any help It could be important for me.

You cannot have a print Button in the report, But have you tried Scheduling the report, and setting the output to printer? That might meet your requirement. You can also use the schedule section to run it immediately (once)

I have my standard address book I use and love. I am an artist and forever having to make slide labels. I have used many programs and databases to do this task. To my surprise address book would accomplish this amazing well. I just don't want to combine my art label information with my address stuff? So can I have two address files on one mac?

you can add a new user account on your Mac (open system preferences / accounts) and start fresh there with an empty AddressBook.
If you want to fill this with a part of your original AB, select those and export as vCards. Drop this export file in your shared folder so you can access that from the new user account. Open AB ther and import the vCards

I love the Oracle forums, i do not like the new upgrade. Can we have a poll to see what the users here think? Also, can we have a poll to see who will actually give out points?
Here is what i do not like:
1) System is slower.
2) I have to restart my entire browser to get the forums to work.
3) The new look is cartoonish.
4) There is a point system where people give out points. This makes it a game instead of a discussion.
5) The heavy use of javascript.

2) A decent search functionality for old posts.
3) The preview tag. It is easier then the previous system.

There is an easy way to resolve once and forever the smell dung known as Jive. It is called APEX.
Oracle needs to create an APEX workspace for OTN Forum on their hosting site - with access to a schema that contains the OTN forum tables and sample data. We deal with it as an Open Source Project and develop an APEX application for it. Source controls and change management can fairly easily be used in APEX. This will allow a beta/quality assurance APEX app that gets build with the latest changes - and after being tested by users and vetted by OTN admin, gets deployed into the live APEX OTN forums application.
I know that it will work technically. Been using Oracle and APEX long enough in dev and prod environments to make this call with a fair amount of confidence.
I also know that Oracle will not even consider such an option.. as Open Source is foreign to them with the exception to the very few that works on Linux projects (like ocfs). And that is a true shame. As such a project will give APEX not only an invaluable boost technically (with the inputs of the very large APEX community on an Oracle production APEX app), not only serve as a marketing sword that can be wield widely against oposition, but also make OTN forums truly community owned. You want a new OTN feature? You now have the ability to develop it, have it tested and vetted and implemented.

Thanks for the replies. I was able to get a hierarchy in the prompt. I created mandatory hierarchy variable in the bex query which is feeding the universe and it automatically came over as hierarchy. I am still not able to get how would you create cascade on same object, I understand the market and region (2 different object) example. So if you can please explain.
With that said I still am not sure how you would display your prompt with description of objects rather than technical names. Any insight on that please?

Iin the pop up I need to have only one field, say Search field

Then, in the List UI Hints for LOV VO, adjust 'Include Search Region" to the criteria you just created in the previous step.
+On entering a value in Search field and clicking on 'Search' button it should try to match the value in empid, projectid and deptid. It should return all the records wherever these values match.+
- Create two bind variable for LOV VO, and create another one ViewCriteria for LOV VO, consisting of another two fields attributes (empid, deptid).
In that criteria, set attribute values to appropriate bind variables.
Them, when you place a View Accessor for that LOV, click 'Edit (selected View Accessor)' button.
On the dialog box that appears, move the View Criteria you just created from Available to the Selected list.
At the same dialog box, you need to set Bind variable values.
Assign them the values of the EmpId, DeptId respectively.

I am about configuring Data Center FW (ver 9.2) to protect multi tier Servers Farm; Web, Applications & Data Base. There is a requirement to set the FW in Transparent Mode, while the license is the base 2-contexts, only.
I wonder if One Single Transparent Context, with different bridge-groups, one for each vlan is a workable solution. I have pasted the configuration of the FW, it may help in understanding the setup.

it is possible but it is not scaleable. If I remember correctly you can only have a maximum of 8 BVI interfaces...so this means you can only have 8 subnets going across the ASA. You would also need seperate VLANs for the inside interface and the outside interface since you can not configure two interfaces to be in the same VLAN, and then assign these interfaces to the appropriate BVI group.

How many computers can I have my registered CS6 software simultaneously installed on? If it is just one computer and I wish to install it on another one, I assume I need to uninstall on the original first and simply repeat the installation process?
One more question: Since the software came with two installation discs, (windows and mac), does that mean I can simultaneously use the software on a windows computer and mac computer?

Not sure what you are saying. You can install and activate on 2 systems, but generally standalone installs have platform-specific serials and can only be installed eitehr on Windows or Mac, not both. However, your description seems to indicate a TLP volume license, so that would be possible.

TV Shows imported into itunes don't have Descriptions!

New to Itunes 12 is the tv shows section has been revamped. While I do like all the other changes of Itunes 12, I really do not like that tv shows that I've personally imported, no longer have descriptions! Even if you add them, they are no longer listed under the individual episodes. Is there anyway to force this back? I'd much prefer this to the giant list view that it is currently.
I prefer the look of Itunes 11, where each episode is it's own bar with it's description below. Thanks for your responses. I do not consider myself a tech-noob, so I hold this to be a rather valid question. (assuming it's even fixable other than reverting to Itunes 11)
(NOTE: I know you can add a description in the "get info" screen, however this does NOT make it appear below. It will hide it like "lyrics" for songs does. Which for songs I agree with, but not for tv shows.)
Itunes store content has the same issue.

Use -> MetaZ or -> Subler to edit the media type (and all other metadata) before you add it to iTunes.
