Cancellation charge appearing on my last bill

Hi,
I called BT on 20th November 2013 to move house and transfer my BT calls and broadband (BT Infinity Option 3). The lady I spoke with said that they were unable to provide the same service at the new property (No infinity available) so my options were to downgrade to the avaiable broadband on 1Mbit or to cancel the contract.  She also said that the latter would not incurr any cost as they were unable to provide the same services, So i went with this option.
Winding forward by two month, I recieved my "final" bill today and there is a shocking charge for ~£149 on the bill stating that as I cancelled my BT service within the contract period, that is what this charge is.
I called customer services (in India) who are saying that there is no evidence on record that this was a house move so are claiming that I need to pay this. All I have in email form is a cancellation order that BT sent through on the 20th November.
Is there anyway I can speak to someone that can help with this. I have been passed around between 3 people in the past 3 hours, not one being able to resolve the issue. The first one said that they will be able to issue a refund no problem - but need to speak with someone in billing.

I'm really sorry that this has happened.  As we can't provide the same service at your new address you shouldn't have been held to term on the BT Infinity package.  No need to worry as I can help sort things out from here.

    The bill from last month states:
    CT state sales tax**     $38.10
    ** In some states sales tax or surcharges are calculated on the full cost of the full retail price or VZW cost of the device you purchased and not on the discounted price you pay. The sales tax or surcharges charged on your device was based on $599.99 and appears on this first bill.
    The current bill says the same.
    Actually, now I'm realizing that last month's bill stated I was making the first payment toward the phone. Now this month also says it's the first payment toward the phone when it's really the second.

  • System generated cancellation charge but I was out...

    I have a cancellation charge on my final bill that shouldn't be there.
    I spoke to someone at BT and explained that I renewed then cancelled my contract straight away by email within the cooling off period as per consumer protection regulations, before deciding to move to another provider through an approved process.
    He said not to worry as the letters were system generated and to get in contact again to have the charge removed if it appeared on my final bill.
    It did appear on my final and I emailed to get it amended but no-one has done so, or replied to me.
    I've heard there are Mods on here who can move things along a bit.
    Please help!

  • Incorrect cancellation charges

    Having ended my contract with BT for phone and broadband, I am unable to get the billing team to remove cancellation charges from my final bill - charges which another colleague at BT (Indy) agreed should not be incurred and which would be removed by the billing team. I have had various frustrations with BT over the last two years, but having to contest something that had already been resolved seems like a new low.
    A year after my package was activated, my bill started showing a superior deal (BT Infinity Option 2) rather than the basic Infinity Option 1 that I had previosuly been on. It took me a month or two to notice the error. When I flagged the mistake via this forum, the overpayment was credited to my account and I was returned to my original deal (thanks to moderator Patrick Boyle).
    On terminating my package last month the operator I spoke to (Indy) agreed that, although a cancellation charge would automatically be applied to the bill, no cancellation charges were appropriate since I had stayed with BT for over two years without ever requesting a change to the package. She told me she had added a note to my account and gave me a reference number which I should give to the billing team once my bill was generated so that they could then remove it.
    When I spoke to the billing team on Monday they could not trace anything from the reference number. The operator (Joseph) said he would listen to my call with Indy from 7 May and once he had confirmed our agreement he would call me back to confirm the charges would be removed. Five days later I haven't heard anything. That's two people I have spoken to who agreed with everything I said, but totally failed to do what they said.
    What more can I do?

  • Porting out, how will the last bill workout?

    Looking to port out soon. I know my EFT is $320. But not sure of what the final plan charges will be. My bill just posted, and my billing cycle starts on the 3rd of the month. How does Verizon handle the last bill. Is their any prorating? Should I pay this bill or wait for the final bill? Thanks!

    budney, I regret to hear your considering canceling service. Leiko27, thanks for the information,  your correct. If your under contract and you call to request cancellation of service, the cancellation will not occur within the system until the end of your current bill cycle. Your final bill will have your early termination fee listed.
    Additionally, budney I would like to know why your canceling and review any options so that you can stay with our wireless family. I will send you a private message so that we can discuss your account in further detail. We truly do not want to loose you as a customer and want to make sure you are happy with your service. Your important to us and we value you as a customer. 

  • Ridiculous Cancellation Charge

    On contract from Oct 09, moved house last June. We cancelled contract with BT and they said that was that.
    Hear nothing for a year & I now have a letter from a debt collection agency asking for close to £400 in charges relating to the contract.
    Called BT, lady tried firstly to claim unpaid bills as source of debt, then spouted off cancellation charges and equipment & connection costs. It is my belief that as I moved house, I'm not liable to pay anything except a cancellation charge, definitely not line rental or "disconnection" charge.
    Anyone? Help?

    It is a brilliant move on Verizon's part - brilliant if the never want a customer to return.  I've been a loyal customer for many years, but when I switched, not only was the guy I had given lots of sales over the years to in the mall a jerk to me when I asked for my account number, but when I tried to get a copy of my disconnected bill, it won't let you access it.  Yes, you can, if you can find your flipping account number, pay your disconnected bill online.  However, you will never find a copy of your bill.  Why?  Verizon wants to punish leaving customers so they can't get their ETF's paid by another company.  This reminds me of the horrible AT&T days where they got so big they started treating everybody like crap.  Blockbuster did the same thing.  It will come back to haunt Verizon as everybody I know is fleeing their service.  I give them credit, their phone service is superior in quality, but I will never go back because of the way I've been treated as I try to leave for a better deal since I am having financial difficulties this year.  I might would have come back but not now.  On top of that, they have a trick where they won't port out one number of the set you are trying to port.  When you finally get through on the line to get it shut off, they tell you they can't turn it off until the next billing cycle.  So though I shut off all the phones but one - one week into the billing cycle, I got charged for ALL 5 phones for the entire month.  This because they insisted they couldn't shut off that final $20 per month phone.  After three dropped calls that took me 20 minutes each to get through to a live person, they then told me they could have shut it off and their employee told me wrong.  They said they'd send it for "Review" after which - you guessed it - I'm supposed to "Call back" - an act of God and congress and taking a day off work so I can keep trying and keep sitting on hold forever later.... I'll let you know what happens.  I'm telling everyone I know, like I did with AT&T to NEVER do business with them.  They used to be great, until they got big.  So if anybody finds some way to get their final bill, I'd love to know because I've spent hours on the phone and online trying.

    Did you not get the final copy of the bill in the mail via United States Postal Service?
    What about older bills? Did you keep any paper copies? Download a PDF copy of the electronic bill at some point?

  • Big One Off £200 charge on my monthly sim bill

    My average monthly sim bilss is around £12.However on my last bill I got a one off charge for £200!!!It was listed under 'One Off Charges' as a 'TM HS Zone D'.I have no idea what this and certailnly wasn't made by me. Does anyone know what this coud be? I was in Cambodia last month but always had data roaming turned off and used wi-fi in the hotel.  I even had use of a complimentray mobile phone from teh hoyel so i cannot understand what this charge is. Is it data, a hack or something else? I've been in conatc with EE but they have yet to get back to me to resolve this. Any ideas?

    How can I have a standard text block appear on the last page of my documents without having to type it in all the time? I have a terms statement with a line for a customer’s signature which I want on the last page of my invoices and right now I have to type it in each time or cut and paste it from a previous invoice. I already have a Master Page that includes the customer information and my company information at the top of each page and I am using data merge to fill each page with the items ordered and their pictures etc. I would just like to have this standard terms block automatically show up on the last page after the last item in the data merge.

    Thank you Peter. This works. I have the text block now at the bottom of a second master page which I apply to the last page. For aesthetics I can modify the position of the text block in the new master page to bring it up from the bottom under the last item ordered when there is less than 4 items on the page. (my data merge fits up to 4 items with their images on a page).  If the last page is full I’ll insert a final page using the second master and also bring it up to the top of the page.

    If your billing cycle had just ended, it may not be available just yet while they generate the bill.
    Log in, and on the home screen, click on View Bill - you should see a summary, with links for details. If you don't, then my questions would be - Is this a family share plan? And are you the primary line/account holder?
