Cancelling an engineers vist is impossible!

On Saturday 18th Oct. I came home from work and tried to set my telly box to record the X Factor (so i could watch it later and skip the ad breaks) but hitting the record button nowt happened and everything froze (couldn't leave the guide, couldn't scroll up or down through it) had to switch everything off at the wall.  Back on again and still the same.  Tried this thrice before calling.
Spend 52 minutes on the phone to the 'technical help desk' to a pleasant chap in India who patiently talked my through his script and I followed all the instructions (switch off and on again twice) then for a factory reset (keeping recordings) for the problem to still occur.  The system would catch up with the instructions from the remote approx. 15-20 mins later but still wouldn't record.  So an appt. with an engineer was duly made for my next day off (this coming Saturday)  On monday I was peeved so I tried a software update and a factory reset (losing recordings) and said goodbye to the many movies (making up 46% of my memory).  Problem solved (Hoorah).  I can now record crappy tv shows and watch them without having to sit through ad breaks.
Problem NOW is I canny cancel the engineer visit!  Spent 46 minutes on hold waiting to speak to someone before I had to give up and have my supper.  Then just spent 50 minutes from 8.00pm to 8.50pm still without speaking to anyone.  Text back the txt msg they sent and am still waiting like a lovesick teenager for a reply.  
Will I get charged for an abortive visit if I just switch the lights off any don't answer the door when the engineer comes?  I could always invite him in for a cuppa and a biscuit and see if he sympathises with the difficulties in cancelling the visit.  Would have to be choccy biscuits to be in with any hope of that.  
I could always spill a cup of tea on the box to create a new problem for him to fix but i don't fancy cleaning it out of the carpet.
All replies will be read, any helpful advise would be mostly appreciated and any not so helpful, will be scowled at.

    I have been using Skype from a long time from india. Whenever I am in USA i use Skype Paid International calling to call back my Home country India. Most recently I was in USA and got a subscription of 800 minutes one month calling at around 9$. Skype India mobile and Landline calling have been declared as to be discontinued from 10 Nov. I received a bill today(8 Nov 2014) with re charge of the 800 minutes subscription india calling. I am surprised to see that why I was billed even if India calling is no more being allowed from Skype. As well as my subscription is showing 11 minutes left. I think this is some mistake on Skype end. I have summarized my problems below.
    1. I have been charged/billed with a subscription which is no longer valid in India.
    2. Although I have billed with such amount My subscription minutes are only 11.
    3. I am trying to disconnect my subscription but from last 5 hours I am getting the following message and I am not able to end my subscription.

    4. There is no process to contact any one responsible for this from Skype. I really spend my hour to finally get to this point where I can share my problem with some one.
    I would request Skype to reimburse my money and cancel my subscription. I would also like to have a written explanation on why this happened.

    Hi,
    I was changing my payment information and mistakenly clicked on country. I cancelled the Country window but then the country was set to Albania. When going back to the country window, it was impossible to set it back to United States (error message).
    I tried to delete the payment method but impossible since I have got a family share. I tried to cancel the family share but impossible since my child is less than 13.
    Then now, my payment method information are totally wrong and I am registered in Albania.
    There is no button or hyperlink allowing me to access a change country window which should be the case according to your help.
    How come that the country changed even if I cancelled the changes?
    Why can't I change it back?
    How should I proceed now?

    If you are getting an error message when trying to change your country back then what does it say ? You've tried logging out and back into your account ?
    Changing country : Change the country of your iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store account.
    If you can't get it to change back then you could try contacting iTunes Support and see if they can do it (these are user-to-user forums) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • Fault 'resolved' phone redirection not cancelled

    Reported a fault on Tuesday as the phone wasn't working, have now established this may be a broadband related issue that Plusnet need to investigate. Yesterday I cancelled the appointment for BT engineer visit next week, the fault is showing as resolved on the net, but I asked the call centre operator to cancel the redirection of calls to my mobile phone. He said this would take about 4 hours to work its way through.  That was 17 hours ago and the calls are still going through to my mobile, which has poor reception in my house so is diverting to voicemail.
    How can I get this call diversion cancelled? It took me 4 hours yesterday to get through to BT to cancel the engineers appointment.

    Oh it gets worse.  Originally I was told my new address didn't have Infinity so I would be recieving a Hub 3 for normal broadband.  After spending 2 1/2 hours on the phone on Monday and speaking to several different people within BT I am told that the reason the hub wasn't delivered was that my new home does have fibre cables for Infinity.  Therefore they had cancelled the order for the hub as they assumed I would plug my existing Hub 5 in and use it.  What they absolutely failed to do was to tell me this wasting 5 weeks of my time, frustration, phone calls and emails.  the next day I recieved a home hub 3 in the post!!!!  what I hadn't got was the correct socket on the wall for infinity and I tried to explain, but clearly failed, was that I needed either the socket changing (two BT department advisors couldn't get their head around this one) or I needed a filter to plug into the existing standard socket.  One didn't arrive with the hub 3 so I went out and bought one from ASDA.  I was told that I would recieve a call yesterday to arange for the engineers vist.  they were just going to book a date and time for a visit but I explained that like most people I worked and therefore that is where you would normally find me during the day.  I'm still waiting for that call....
    anyway I plugged my Hub 5 in and hey presto in works.  The Mbps speed is absolutely rock bottom, 1.82Mbps, nothin like the 38MBps that Infinity should provide but at least I'm connected to the 20th century.  I waiting a while to see if the speed climbs up to the expected speed over the next few days before I waste another 2.5 hours on the phone to BT trying to get my point across and being told a load of twaddle.

    I've installed Windows 7 Beta on my R400 as Windows Vista is impossible to use on the R400 (way to slow).
    Everything is working just fine except for the 3G module.
    I am not able to install the drivers.
    The last status info is "copying new files" before the installer starts rolling back automatically and finishes with the "not installed" message.
    I tried redownloading the file, but no luck
    Any idea?

    so is there a solution? I tried extracting the driver by myself, but haven't found a way to unpack the .msi file. It's a Novatel device, but the Novatel homepage says that I should contact the OEM, which is Toshiba...
    Anyway, I just called the Toshiba hotline and they said they have no idea whatsoever. :(
    EDIT: I started a hole bunch of cpu eating programs to slow the installer down and the last status info is "registring products" before it start rolling back. Any Idea what the installer is doing then causing it to fail?
    EDIT 2: I managed to extract the .msi and installed all drivers manually, works perfectly. No idea why the installer fails.

    All I can call it is a complete failure, I built this computer using the K9A2GM mobo and it's just not working anymore. I get 3 beeps at bootup and the manual doesn't even tell me what they mean! Any of you have a clue?
    I noticed when I ran Windows Experience Index the system suddently become unresponsive and the monitor / keyboard / mouse went to no signal.     The processor runs at 50C so it can't be overheating, hell I am lost. This should've been so simple a child could do it, now I have no PC and wasted money on this junk. How am I getting all these problems I'll never know.

    Ugh Vista x64 won't start in safe mode or any other way it just reboots the system entirely. Kinda bizarre. help!

    Installed the drivers that came with the OS, no luck. Ummmmm it crashes when it says it's running the Aero Interface Test. Does anyone here think that a complete system failure could possibly result from Vista! Impossible, but it seems I must test this  now. I'll install XP and screw vista, what a joke!!!
    I mean if it runs the test fine without drivers installed and it acted this way with the onboard video too, it's gotta be some sorta Vista incompatibility right? I'll let you know :L

  • After rebooting my Windows Vista 64 bit system, could not access iTunes; after uninstalling I tried reinstalling, but it has been running for more than 24 hrs. Should I cancel installation?

    I had been updating my Windows Vista 64 bit system and as a result of a problem, had to reboot my system. Afterwards, I was no longer able to access iTunes.  I got a message stating that there was a problem with some of the files associated with the application.  A phone rep at Apple's Customer Service provided me with emails linking instructions on completely uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. I did the uninstall, then checked for lingering iTunes files and couldn't completely remove some, but tried intalling the latest version of iTunes. It has been running for roughly 24 hours.  The status bar is green all the way across, and when I try to cancel, I get the following message: "Are you sure you want to cancel iTunes installation?"  I keep hitting "no," but am staring to wonder if there is a problem with the install.  Should it take this long if I have roughly 134 gigs of music?  I can still see the music in my computer's C drive, so I am worried that there is an error, perhpas because I didn't clear out all the lingering C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ and all the lingering C:\Program Files\iTunes\.  Any thoughts?

    It is not just the HP. I have 3 HP computes and 2 Dell computers. 2 of the HP and 1 Dell suffer the iTunes internet block. Took me a while to figure it out also. But, the one thing that is different on the Dell, is that I can leave iTunes installed and not open it and everything works. As soon as I open it, internet access goes down. BUT secure sites (https:) works fine.

    I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

    If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?
