Cannot complete scheduled refresh when document library requires check in/out

Hi,
I have set up a report with a scheduled refresh but it fails with an error if the document library requires check in/out. In the refresh history it shows the error:-
'We couldn't save the refreshed report. ExcelServices operation ended with error: SavingWorkbookNotCheckedOut Correlation ID: 89eb08a4-b14d-45b6-8a34-581e505b67fe'
If I remove the requirement to have the workbook checked in/out then the refresh works fine.
Is there a way to have this work on document libraries when required check in/out is enabled?

Thanks for taking the time to help with this.
Yes removing the requirement for check out does work, as was stated in my original post "If I remove the requirement to have the workbook checked in/out then the refresh works fine.". This is the workaround that I'm currently using but there
are some reports where we would like to be able to prevent multiple users editing at the same time hence the required check out.
We would like to be able to have required check out and scheduled refresh (because if you have cake you're going to want to eat it!), but I'm guessing it's one or the other at the moment.

This could be due to a database health issue. If you run DBCC CHECKDB against this content database, does it come back with any consistency errors?
Another option is to dismount and remount the database from SharePoint, using Dismount-SPContentDatabase and Mount-SPContentDatabase. Some consistency checks are performed during the mount operation.

Is this music purchased back in DRM days? I don't actually have any iTunes music so I can't test with my iTunes 7.5, but I know that without iTunes 10 you cannot even connect to the store anymore. I wouldn't think that would require an active connection to the store all the time, otherwise how could you play music on a computer in the middle of nowhere? Did you do something to trigger iTunes suddenly wanting to connect and check on machine authorization?

OOTB approval worfklow not creating task when require checkout is set as Yes on the document library

I set the document library versioning to "require check-out" to yes.
I set the workflow settings to create an approval workflow and "start the workflow when the item is created".
I create a new document from the document template, save and check-in. The workflow task is not getting created, however the workflow is started.
when i change the require check-out to "No" and create a new document as above, the workflow tasks are getting created.
Can someone advise on what is the problem when versioning is enabled?? can anyone provide solution. thanks.

Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that the task was not created after the approval workflow was running when setting the require check out to be yes.
I tested the scenario in my environment, if I used the Office client application to create documents, then the task would not be created even when the workflow was running.
There may be some reason that the creating task action is missed when the document is created using Office client application and the require check out is set to be yes.
As a workaround, I recommend to install Office Web Apps and use Office Web Apps to create the documents when setting the require check out to be yes.
The workflow will be starting before the documents is checked in, and it will create the task after the document is checked in.

How to export and import a document library data to a new sharepoint farm

i have a sharepoint 2010 farm and has one sharepoint web application
in this application it has a document library and this doc library has a 2000 folders and each folder has 2500 documents
, here i how i export upto 500 folders from this doc library to a new sharepoint farm

if your both farm are on same version level then you can use export & import funcation if only Document library required.
Perform export on source farm
Export a site, list, or document library in SharePoint Server 2010
copy the files to target farm and run the import.

another way is backup the site collection from source and restore it to destination.

Require entry of metadata when creating a folder in a document library

While users are required to enter metadata when uploading a document, it would be a tremendous help if they were required to enter metadata when creating a folder inside a document library.
Is there a way to force entry of metadata when creating a folder? And if this is possible, can I create different metadata requirements for documents uploaded inside a folder?

Yes, you will need to create a Content Types that inherits the Folder Content Type, and then assign your new Content Type to your library. The following blog post explains how to do this (it was written for 2007 but same applies for 2010),

When do Workflows fire for a Document Library that requires Check In?

I have a SharePoint Designer workflow that is set to fire if the item is changed, and this workflow is running against a Document Library that requires Check In.
So, the big question is, does the workflow fire if the document is checked out, and the properties are modified, but before the document is checked back in? Or, will the workflow only fire after the document is checked back in?
I understand that a workflow is asynchronous, and that a document could be modified and then checked in, and the workflow might only fire after that. What I want to know is whether the workflow will fire if the document properties are modified but the document
is not checked in for some time.

The workflow will fire only when the user checks in the document.

You can't use iPhoto that way. Poking around in the iphoto library from outside iphoto is just begging for trouble, the fastest way to corrupt your library and lose all your images.
You have two choices with iphoto:
1. Set PSE as your external editor and send the photos from iphoto. Save, never save as, and don't change the name or format and iphoto will remember your last saved edits and the original, although you have to lose the edited version to revert to the original. This doesn't work with raw files.
2. Export the photos from iphoto, use File>Open in PSE and then you can make all the changes to name and format that you want. Then import the saved edited version to iphoto as a new file.

Word cannot open file when uploaded document to document library progrmmatically.

Please try to upload your document using SharePoint UI.
If the issue still exists in Firefox, I suggest you check your Firefox settings.

Has anyone come across this error and know how to resolve it?

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that the user could not create a document library.
To narrow down whether the issue is related to the user permission, you can check which permission the user has.
You can also assign the user full control to check whether it works.
What’s more, did the issue occur in other sites? You can check with other sites or create a new site to check whether it works. Maybe the site has been corrupted.
To quickly and accurately find the issue, I recommend you can check the event log and ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred.
For SharePoint 2010, by default, ULS log is at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS
You can check the ULS log by the methods here:

The file .docx cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents in sharepoint document library

I created a site and created a document libarary and assigned a word document as a content type . I have written a workflow to create a new document . The workflow is working fine and all the document is getting created and values are getting stored
in it .
As per my requirement I am saving the above site as site template .
After that I am creating a new site based on the above site template , Its getting created and I started the workflow , its working fine and the document is also getting created .
The problem is I am getting error while opening the word document
Error - The file filename.docx cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents .
Details - No error details availble .

What are you doing within the txt document? Is it general text and string based items, or have you something more elaborate going on?

When you have downloaded it, then clean out the old adobe reader and then try to install the latest one, i had to do this about a week ago and it solved the problem.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
