Cannot export versions

Using latest version (3.5.1) of Aperture on Mavericks, all latest updates installed on MBP Mid 2012, export versions stopped working completly after succesfuly exporting cca 1500 images.
Originals I'm trying to export are RAWs (Canon EOS60D .CR2, latest firmware on the camera), referenced images on local drive.
Have tried different locations for export, fixing permissions on Aperture Library, reboot the machine, nothing helped. Have tried multiple and single image export. Wouldn't suspect low memory, 16GB installed.
I'm trying to export full size JPGs with into custom folder name with version filename. Have tried on several aperture libraries, none works. I'm stuck
Searching console for "Aperture" shows following message:

Thanks in advance for any idea on how to make export verions work again.

You seem to have already tried a lot of the right things.
You didn't mention 'Repair Database' so I would try that option next (as always, ensure you have a good backup). 'Repair Database' is accessed from the same screen as 'Repair Permissions.
If that option doesn't help then, my next step would be to test it with a new user account.
First creat the new account from system preferences.
Then log out of your current user account and log in with the new one.
Run Aperture from that account (you'll get a new empty library so will have to import a few photos).
What this lets you do is see if the issue is system-wide (for all users, even though you may be the only user) or thw issue is localised to your account.
If it still doesn't work with that new account, it's probably system wide. If it does work, the problem is localised to your user account, and there are additional troubleshooting steps you can follow, like removing presets and preferences. See HT3805 for trouble shooting basics and how to preform these.
The fact that it stopped working after such a large export is possibly interesting. Exported versions is a peice of metadata that Aperture tracks, so it's easy to imagine how a small glitch may have caused a number of problems. However, repair database should sort any minor database problems out.
Have you rebooted your machine since that export? Perhaps a temporary chache needs clearing.

  • Cannot Export Versions with Aperture 3.3

After upgrading to Aperture 3.3, I lost the ability to Export Versions of my files. Exporting Originals works just fine, but I need to I export jpegs for my work. What I end up getting now is a jpg with a totally black image. The metadata is intact and the size and jpeg format are correct, but the image is just black. I have already tried Repairing Permissions and Repairing the Database in Aperture with no change. I have not yet tried "Rebuild Database" but I do not think that is the problem because I am able to Export images from my Aperture Library files using iPhoto without a problem. Please help.

I am exporting with a preset that I have set up. Here are the settings:
    Image Format: JPEG
    Image Quality: 10
Size To: Fit Within (Pixels) Width 1024 Height 683
    DPI: 132
    (No Gamma Adjust)
    Color Profile: Use Source Profile
    (Black Pint Compensation NOT CHECKED)
    (Show Watermark NOT CHECKED)
Okay, the good news is that I tried other settings and it worked. Tiff works just fine and exporting the preset jpeg setting (full size, half size) works just fine. I then deleted the export setting mentioned above and created a new one, but it does not work.
So, I am almost there. I appreciate your suggestions so far as some of them worked. Any more ideas?

  • I have IPhoto version 9.5.1. I cannot export pictures, the following message appears: "iPhoto cannot import your photos because there is not enough free space on the volume containing your iPhoto library." What am I suppose to do? I have a Mac mini.

I have IPhoto version 9.5.1. I cannot export pictures since the following message appears: "iPhoto cannot import your photos because there is not enough free space on the volume containing your iPhoto library." What am I suppose to do? I have a Mac mini which properly used can perform any reasonable task, the problem is I do not know what to do.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Hmm... that was labelled:
    As a Test:
    In bold and all
    Try repair the main Library:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • CRVS2010 Beta - Cannot export report to PDF with unicode characters

My report has some unicode data (Chinese), it can be previewed properly in the windows form report viewer. However, if I export the report document to PDF file, the unicode characters in exported file are all displayed as a square.
In the version of Crystal Report 2008 R2, it can export the Chinese characters to PDF when I select a Chinese font in report. But VS2010 beta cannot export the Chinese characters even a Chinese font is selected.

Barry, what is the specific font you are using?
The below is a reformatted response from Program Management:
Using non-Chinese font with Unicode characters (Chinese) the issue is reproducible when using Arial font in Unicode characters field. After changing the Unicode character to Simsun (A Chinese font named 宋体 in report), the problem is solved in Cortez and CR both.

  • Cannot export slide shows with iPhoto 9.6 and OS 10.10

    Hallo!
I upgraded to Yosemite last Friday. Everything seems to work fine only iPhoto 9.6 makes some troubles. I cannot export any slide shows. When I click on "export" the small window opens as always before, the first pic is shown in this window, after that the window disappears and nothing else happens. iPhoto doesn't crash, but it also doesn't export any slide shows.
Does anyone have an idea what the reason could be?
Thanks and best regards from Klosterneuburg/Austria

Some folks have fixed this by reinstalling iPhoto:
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • Cannot export video clips.  Get message: "unable to create video for export"

Cannot export video clips from iPhoto to Finder folder.  Export fails with message "unable to create video for export: "
The video clips play correctly within iPhoto.
Software: iPhoto version 9.5 on OSX 10.9
    Hardware: Retina Macbook Pro 2.3 i7 8GB

Yes.  I have 3,184 video clips in this library.  I tested Reveal function by randomly selecting individual video clips and in every case the Reveal in Finder function worked correctly.  I also tested this on random selections of groups of video clips and, again, the Reveal function worked correctly in every case.
Some more info that may be relevant:
I have multiple iPhoto libraries.  My "main" library is very large (~30,000 files) and is located on an external hard drive (2TB WD) which is connected via USB.
The problem reported here is occuring on that "main" library.  I have not opened any other iPhoto library since installing the new release.
While the File>Export function does not work, I have been able to simply copy and paste video clips from iPhoto library to a folder on Mac hard drive.  It appears that meta data is copying correctly along with the video content.
I am able to import these copied video clips to iMovie.  Meta data is imported along with the video content and I'm able to perform iMovie editing functions on those clips without any problems.
In summary, the File>Export function still fails with the message "unable to create video for export."  Copying video clips and pasting them to interim folder seems to be a viable workaround enabling me to extract video clips from iPhoto for import to iMovie.  I will run additional tests to see if I can find a pattern to the video files that are being rejected by iPhoto Export function.

  • Cannot export video from iPhoto

cannot export a video taken from an iphone. from iphoto to anything, it saves it as a 0.00 second movie file.
and yes before you ask i am changing it to original file :/

The problem is that iPhoto is looking in the wrong place for the file:
    / Volumes/Sagate/Iphoto_Library_2014.photolibrary/Previews/2014....... "
It should be looking in the Originals folder.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.

  • Cannot export movie files from iPhoto 11 (9.5)

Hi. Am not able to export movies from iPhoto 11. I leave the type as Original and get an error - see screenshot. Running on Mavericks and up-to-date iPhoto. Have tried to export to multiple places so hard drive space, etc. isn't the problem. Can export 32,000+ photos just fine but all the movies are erroring out.
Any ideas, and thanks for the help.

    Having the same problem.
Upgraded to Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5, and now getting this, every single time.
Happens with both Original and Current exports. The failed files are all point to the Previews location. I checked the first few, which do exist, but are 0KB big. However their master file location is fine.
This ends up leaving 120GB out of my 170GB collection of 1533 photos/videos.
Incredibly frustrating! iPhoto is useless to me now, and I have no way to get my photos out of it.
Here's the exact feedback I sent apple:
    I'm experiencing this issue:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5478191?tstart=0
Since upgrading to Mavericks and getting the latest iPhoto version. I cannot export my entire photo collection (using original, and current settings).
It always fails with about 120GB of my 170GB collection left. The missing files are videos that iPhoto is trying to copy over the preview location, rather than the master location it seems. The discussion thread has more information.

  • [Error 333] Cannot export movie at all

    Hi All,
I have created a new movie using iMovie 8.5 (latest version included in iLife 09).
Unfortunately, when I try to export my first project, after few minutes of processing (the blu progress bar fully completes the process) it gives me an error saying that is Imposssible to export the movie, error 333.
I have not registered yet my iLife, could be that one the reason or could be something else?
To me is so weird, if was the registration it should have been said before..
    Thanks a lot

    Hello,
Are you having a similar problem as this?:
    CIRCUMSTANCES:
I have the most recent version of OSX and of FCPX and yet I cannot  export or "Share" my timeline's Project.
I have the simplest project (a sequence of small video clips with no effects at all) and the program does not let me "share" anything.
I have been using FCPX since the first week it came out; it's not like I'm completely lost (I have already done many jobs).
    DOUBT:
WHY ARE ALL THE SHARE* OPTIONS INACTIVE?
*Either selecting the Project from the browser  or clicking directly on the Timeline, the Share options I'm referring to are found on File > Share > ....
    ANSWER:
If your Sequence contains one single Clip which was not well imported from the camera, FCPX will not let you "Share" (Export) the Project at all (The timeline's sequence). FCPX is probably wanting to alert you by means of a yellow triangle on the Event's icon, right at the corresponding missbehaving Event. Click on that Event, scroll down through all your clips on the Browser and you will most probably find a clip with the same yellow triangle with exclamation mark.
In order to detect the wrong clip (or clips) on the timeline, you shall click on the timeline you are not able to export (that is, to "Share") and, once you have clicked on the timeline itself, open your "Timeline Index" ( which shortcut is: shift  cmd 2 ).
Once in the Timeline Index, click on "Clips" (upper left, under the small search window) and also click on Video (at the bottom of the whole Timeline Index box).
Now you have the whole list of all your clips which are used in the Timeline. Scroll down until you find all the marked clips (they are all marked with the same yellow triangle with an exclamation mark). Eliminate them from either the Timeline Index or directly from the timeline if you want to export  anything.
I hope this was helpful to anyone with erroneously imported clips or any misbehaving imported media.

  • Rating in exported versions

I live with "portable library" which is exported JPEG up to 1024 pt- so I can hold
above 8000 pictures eaten just something like 3 GB.
I do not know if is possible by exporting versions to extra file ( out of Aperture)
to have available for import again into Aperture in PB 12".
This is extra job rewrite ratings. I am exporting just From 3* to 5*.
If publisher wants to sent an offer - is simple prepare selection.
Another qustion I have : selecting "smart albums" by keywords i cannot search
within album by anorther keyword. For example album" deer" and I want lo find pictures from winter every picture has season described.
    Thank you

    linus,
just to be able to compare our observatiions on EXIF - what is your Aperture version? And how did you export, with "File > Export" (the original or an edited version), and which format - tiff, jpeg?
Exporting an edited version of a Canon raw image as jpeg, and reimporting to Aperture will preserve all EXIF tags, that are visible in Aperture, at least, that is what I am seeing in Aperture 3.4.5. The only changed tag is the "Software" tag.
After reimporting an exported jpeg I am seeing these EXF-tags in Aperture, exactly the same as before, including Camera Make and Camera Model:
Looking at the exported image file  with Preview's Inspector, I am seeing the lens in the EXIF section of the Inspectore panel, and the Camera Make in the "TIFF" section of the Inspector panel.

  • Export versions into project

For a set of photos I want to be able to change the color profile from Adobe RGB to sRGB, then upload them into MobileMe, email them to friends, etc.
I'm trying to find the most efficient way to do this. Ideally I would select the photos, then export them to a new or existing album, and change the color profile during export. After export to the album, I could do some sharpening and upload to MobileMe or web, email, etc.
I am having trouble doing this, as I cannot find out how to export versions into an album. I believe AP only allows me to export into a project / folder. With this approach, I believe I will have multiple files of the same photo, which is not my preference.
Can I export versions into an album? If not, how can I have multiple versions of the same file - one with AdobeRGB, the other with sRGB?
    Thank you.

    bix106 wrote:

You can't. You can only change the color space on export or by round tripping to another application and changing it there. Either method involves creating a new master of the image. AFAIK there is no way to assign a different color space within Aperture.
It's really a moot point though: images are automatically converted to sRGB when uploaded to MobilMe, and you can set the export settings (in Preferences) to anything you like when using Aperture's email function. So you don't need multiple versions (in this case masters) in your library in order to accomplish your goal.

  • Media Encoder Update problem - cannot export video

Hi, I just obtained a student license of Premiere Pro CS4, and I have a critical problem, I cannot export any videos.
Every time I go to export a sequence, Premiere reminds me to update the media encoder.
    http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/7047/mediaencoderjz6.png
I have done both as instructed, and successfully installed the latest update to media encoder, but Premiere still fails to export any video, or even open Media Encoder. I do not have this problem on my laptop, only on my home computer.
I'm running Windows Vista, I have not installed any previous versions of premiere, my system spec is dual core 3ghz, 4gb ram, nvidia 8600gt.

  • How do I export versions to a memory stick

    Hi
I said that I would do a wedding for a friend, although know I wish I had not and just stuck to Landscape photography.
He is going to require the adjusted version, "i believe" so, all I want to do is export adjusted versions, possibly masters to a DVD or Memory stick but I can find nothing that actually tells you how to do this.
I hope someone can explain how to do this as I cannot afford to make a mistake.
    Thanks

Will he be able to use a memory stick formatted for  Mac, OS X Extended.
He will not be able to read a stick formatted for Mac. Use the filesystem that the stick will come preformatted with. That will usually be a file system that both mac and Windows systems can write to.
Just avoid long filenames with ethnic characters, when you are naming the files.
The memory stick will be better than a CD/DVD.
    To elaborate on Frank's answer:
    Insert the USB stick:
Select the images you want to export in the Browser .
Use File > Export > Versions
Select your USB stick in the file chooser.
For the highest quality use "Jpeg > Original size" (or" tiff > Original size")
Select a naming scheme in the export dialog.
    Export.
If you want to write several USB sticks, you may want to export to a folder on your Desktop and copy this folder to each stick using the Finder.

  • Cannot export to movie without media encoder!

Past workflow has involved exporting an avi to a watch folder. With CS4 I cannot export an avi without using the media encoder. I see no problem with using the encoder to do the work, but there are instances when I would want to export "same as source."
    Pre-rendered elements
Export edited segments to other edit suites
Utilize a second computer system to do the encoding
    Use other encoding software
It is much slower to export an avi using the media encoder rather than the export > movie route of the previous cs versions. For example, I edited a 3 minute video on cs4 and it took 11 minutes to export as an avi. It actually took even longer (up to 20) to use encore's transcode settings to encode for dvd.
I ran a test on cs2 with a 30 second spot. It took about 15 seconds to export the avi and another 15 seconds to encode as mpeg2 using a 3rd party encoder.
I have a project coming up that has an extremely tight deadline. I will be editing hour long programs and exporting them for dvd. If I am to use cs4 I will have all kinds of time problems, not to mention I can't do this on multiple computers for processing (1 for editing, 1 for encoding, 1 for authoring). Just to estimate: In CS2 it will take 1 hour to export and encode the video, and up to 7 hours to encode if I were to use cs4.
Are there any solutions to the mandatory media encoder process of cs4?

Media encoder sucks! It's slow and buggy. And it crashes 5 times at 10. The performance of Premiere CS4 on a top notch workstation is 60% slower than working with Premiere Pro 2. Media's batch feature is a failure unlike Premiere 5.5 - 6.0 ver (i think)
    my dear Adobe
Why not try listening to pro users suggesting handy features and instead of getting so anxious eliminating your competitors (FCP) and launching buggy and expensive software? This ain't gonna last for long, you know!
I think if I simulate OS X and run FCP, will work faster than CS4 (have to test it)

  • Export versions from smart album

    Aperture 1.5.6 on Mac OS X 10.4.11
I have collected all my portraits from various jobs, and I would like to export all the portraits, but I cannot. ... I have even selected a single image from my Smart Portraits Album, and tried to export the single image. ... Nothing happens, really! Nothing happens. Aperture says that is "Verifying Files all the way up to 100%" ... Then nothing. ... Eventually the Beach Ball quits spinning, but nothing has happened regarding my assigned task.
It seems like I should be able to select the images in a smart album. (I can do that.)
And then choose an operation I wish to perform, like export versions, (I can do that too.)
And Aperture should do just what I asked. ... (No such luck for the export versions)

I believe the Verifying Images step is performed if any are referenced. It's trying to access files that are one other volumes, so it could be getting hung up on that step.
Try the same operation on images you know are managed and see if you get the same problem.
