Hi
~This is the console error that I get when trying to import the .ics file. There was another error relating to this letter in a name É. I edited these out so the error is no more, except that the above error remains and the file still does not import.
Hope you can help.

Problem importing ics files into iCal
Importing ics files into iCal is the problem, but first here is the background on why I'm trying to import.
I have an iMac and iPad, and recently changed my iPhone 3G for an iPhone 4S. Having got the iPhone 4S I have now set up all my devices to use iCloud. In moving iCal to iCloud an extra calendar was created "automatically" in iCal, called "Me". This "Me" calendar contains a partial duplicate of my main calendar, which is called "My Calendar". In fact, some of the events from "My Calendar" seem to have been moved to "Me", and some have been duplicated.
It seems as it I now need to merge the "Me" and "My calendar" calendars to get back to where I was.
I have tried to export one of the calendars and then re-import it into the other. The export seems to work fine, but every single time I try to re-import the ics file iCal crashes at the end of the import process, and the import is not completed.
Can anyone help? This has been driving me absolutely crazy today!
I even tried manually moving events from one calendar to another, but they reappeared. I think this was because my iPhone/iPad were re-syncing via iCloud and overwriting the changes I had just made.
I don't mind if I end up with one calendar with duplicates as I can remove them with iCal Dupe Deleter.
Or if there are any other alternative solutions I'd love to hear them!
All help greatly appreciated!
(P.S. Is it just me, or is Apple software slowly getting as unreliable as Windows used to be? I get more problems with software updates now than when I first got a Mac about 8 years ago!)Not a great answer but I dragged the attachment either to the finder - app - ical or the icon. It placed it on the calendar. I clicked in and accepted. So, no auto populate. Need to drag and drop. So glad I paid the 20 bucks to upgrade to 10.8

Cannot import any files on Lightroom 4.2
I have been having problems with importing all files to Lightroom since my Macbook was 'healthchecked'!! I get the message 'cannot read files'.
This started with Lightroom 3 - where I have tried to delete the preference file and then recreate - no luck, after alot of other things tried, I then
uninstalled Lightroom 3 and installed a fresh version of Lightroom 4.2 - and the problem still exists.
I suspect it is a configuration problem but am not technical, so I need some non-techie suggestions please, I am getting very very frustrated!!
Can anyone help, please.Victoria,
Thank you for you reply, it must have been something to do with the
permissions of the folders as I just decided to create a new folder as
the destination folder and that worked!!
So thank you so much, I just now need to organise all the photographs.

Which folder are you setting as the Destination, for the files to be
imported into? Does it work if you set it to, say, Desktop?
That "cannot be read" error message more often means "cannot be
written" (yes, I know, that's stupid!!!), so it's probably a folder
permissions issue.

I cannot import .mov files to Premiere Pro or Adobe Media Encoder.
I cannot import .mov files to Premiere Pro or Adobe Media Encoder.
How do I around this problem? We need to know a lot more if we're going to help you.
What happens when you try? Do you get an error message? If so, exactly what does it say?
What version of Premiere Pro? Have you installed the recent updates? What operating system?
Does this happen for all .mov files or just some? Has this ever worked before? What version of QuickTime do you have installed?
Here's a page written for After Effects, but the information is relevant to Premiere Pro and AME, too:

Cannot import Illustrator files - crash to desktop
Hello:
I've been experimenting with the Catalyst beta at work, but it seems I cannot import Illustrator files (yet phototshop files are fine). What happens is the following:
1) Click "From Adobe Illustrator AI File..." link on the start screen.
2) Choose an AI file in the file selector (I used the one found at http://www.insideria.com/2009/06/flash-catalyst-beta-1-top-bran.html)
3) Catalyst begins the process and shows a progress bar, but then immediately crashes to desktop without warning.
I've tried several other AI files, but the results are the same. Is anyone else having this problem?
System specs (if it matters) are:
Windows XP SP2
Professional x64 Edition
Intel core 2 Duo
2.33GHz, 3.93 GB of RAMOk, this is going to sound strange, but here's what happened:
1) I went to the Catalyst directory to retrieve the log file you mentioned. It seems I had generated about nineteen or so of these logs. I've gone ahead and attached them to this post.
2) I deleted all of these logs out of my Catalyst directory.
3) I went back and performed the above steps, and it worked! I even tried another AI file, and it imported successfully.
The only thing that has changed since yesterday is the fact that I deleted these logs. I'm baffled... -
a few days after importing my folders the import dialogue window has changed and I cannot import TIFF files anymore, only jpg and raw!! what can I do???
Thanks AxelI am guessing then, done as an Export to TIFF with the Export Dialogue, not Export to PSCS, then. Are they named the same as the Raw file except fot the Extension? If so, change the name by adding something like -edit.TIF and they will be imported. LR maybe seeing them as sidecars to the RAW and like JPEGs generated as a pair with a RAW by a camera, LR ignores it.
There are a number of very long threads on this issue. Most are titled impart 'RAW - JPEG'.

Cannot import .mov files generated by Toast
Hi All,
I have a strange issue : I had old HI8 tapes that I got transferred on DVDs (VOB files). I then converted these files in HD DV with Toast 10, which generated AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec) files encapsulated in mov that I can perfectly read with Quicktime X (I run SL 10.6.2). The issue is I just cannot import these files in IMovie 09 (the corresponding files are "greyed" in the finder...)
Does anyone has a clue on why this happens?
Thanks!I have kind similar issue ,I try to convert .mts from canon in toast 9 to .mov but for iMovie 09 it's not good...there is slight difference in some parameters of AIC what iMovie use on it's own when you do import directly from camcorder /this codes is that Litte Endian/ and output of tast9 is /AIC ,ACC/...so all my files on hard drive are not importable for now ,looks like the compatibility of .mov container is terrible...it's frustrating I tried also voltaic converter and few more but they output is useless...it's rough & cranky...so I'm looking for solution as well....

How can i import ics file to my ipad?
I am trying to import an ics file to my ipad, and I cannot get a headway. any suggestions?
PogoPossum wrote:
If it is a commercial DVD, you have to strip away the copyright protection and then convert it ... Many ways to do the latter, but the former is illegal in many countries and discussion of how to do so is not allowed on this forum.
Actually, as the owner of the DVD, you are permitted to make one copy. You can use Handbrake to make an iPad compatible version of the DVD movie, then move it into the Videos section of iTunes. From there, you can sync it with your iPad. -
Very strange bug when importing ICS files
Hiyas.. I have two ICS files, one for calendar entries during november, one for entries during december. According to all I can see, both files only contain entries for the corresponding month.
Now.. when I import them into a calendar, I import November. Works fine. Now I import December. Works fine too for december, but it deletes entries in November. So I imort november again. Now I have all entries for november, but it deletes entries (not all, just some) in December.
From all I can see, the ICS files are correct. I really don't get it. Is this some kind of an unknown bu in iCal?
The files can be downloaded from
http://www.misteli.ch/november2008.xls.ics
http://www.misteli.ch/december2008.xls.ics
since I cannot attach them to this posting.
Does anyone have a clue about whats going on here?
Thanks in advance
RogThat might work, but the problem is, this is my girlfriend's working calendar and I want to publish it to MobileMe, so both me and her have it. Okay, I could use two separate calendars and publish them both, but that would be quiet a bit clumsy. If this is the only way it works, I can do it I guess. I just wondered if this wasn't rather an iCal Bug that needs to be fixed in the next version or if I did something completely wrong there.
You see.. her calendar comes in the form of an Excel file. I wrote some code to parse the XLS file, read the information from that file and create an ICS file that I can import into iCal. The idea was to use an autoamted task for that, but I didn't continue that path yet. So, it was perfectly understandble if I created crap in the ICS files, but from all I can see when I open it with TextWrangler, the ICS files are up to spec and correct.
Thanks anyway though! -
I have always used Lightroom with a PC and now have installed Lightroom 3.6 on my new iMac. I cannot import raw (NEF) files from iPhoto (or from my Lacie drive for that matter into Lightroom. I have tried Lightroom Help to no avail. How do I import NEF files from the iMac into Lightroom?
If they are the same nef files that you were importing into your PC, see if the reason is an error message like the thread above this one. Permissions issue.

Cannot import video file from Canon Vixia hfs10 to imovie'11.
Hi this is my first post on this site.
I am having trouble trying to import video files from Canon Vixia hfs10 to imovie'11. The computer does not even recognize this camcorder. When I do a PC connection, iphoto comes up, but all it tells me to import are the pictures that I have taken.
No matter what I do, I cannot find the folder for my camcorder in the device section in the finder.
When I try to import it on imovie, I only get an option for facetime camera and not my vixia.
Please help!Hi this is my first post on this site.

Upgraded to Lightroom 3.6, cannot import NEF files from D700
Hi!
I just upgraded my Lightroom to 3.6 on my MacBook pro running Lion. Since then, I cannot import my pictures anymore, either from the camera directly, through a compact flash reader (SanDisk) or by adding the picture directly from my hard-drive. The standard Mac utility to download images work fine.
Lightroom tells me that it cannot read the files, with Lithgtroom 3.5 it worked (nothing changed in the meantime Camera profiles, OS X, etc.).
You can find one NEF file I cannot import here (dropbox link) : http://db.tt/6zSiNzYK
Any idea?Thank you Sean,
I'll try that once I'll have managed to get the import working. I created another catalog since last time I thought the import worked but again I got stuck.
Do you know anything else I could try? Ideally, do you know how I could get a better diagnosis? By the way, I already got in touch with the CS but all I got was a lousy answer (update my ACR... for Lightroom -_- )
I'm using Lightroom since the first version and I start to really be discouraged.
Thanks for your help, -
ICal won't import .ics files from Mail
Howdy,
I've been using mail/iCal for some time. I get meeting requests via email from Microsoft Outlook users in the .ics format. I used to be able to just click on the .ics file in mail, or drag it to my calendar, and it would add the meeting. But past few months, when I click on the .ics file, nothing happens. If I drag the .ics file to my calendar, I see a "blank" event with nothing in it on the date of the meeting.
However... if I save the .ics file to my desktop, then go to File -> Import and select that file, it works fine. Just frustrating because it takes a lot of extra steps.
Any suggestions? Thanks!Hi:
Just started to have the same problem with importing events onto my iBook. Problem has been made worst in that while I get attached ics files from emails coming from my Outlook 2003 application on my desktop computer, emails from work (also using Outlook 2003 on a Microsoft Mail Exchange Network) no longer even include ics file. (Note: Outlook to Outlook meeting invites do work.)
Am wondering if the combination of the most recent updates from Apple for iCal and Mail may be at fault?
Anyone out there have any ideas on this? It was nice being able to indirectly sync my Outlook and iCal calenders, but now it is a pain in the you know where.
Any help will be welcomed. Thanks.

Cannot import .mov files into FCE
I bought a new Kodak Zi8 pocket video camera to use to finish a video project because my right hand is in a cast and I cannot use my HD video camera. Unfortunately for me, I have a deadline to meet.
I shot video at 720p and tried to import it into FCE 4.0.1 to edit using Log and Transfer and got the warning message, '"863_0156.MOV" contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media.' I also shot video at 1080p and, of course, cannot import it into FCE either using Log and Transfer.
I am still a relatively new FCE user and would appreciate any suggestions you can give me. I looked in Tom's book (FCE 4 Editing Workshop)on page 73. Will Quicktime Pro 10 convert the files? If so what is the procedure?
I have seen similar questions in this discussion forum on importing .mov files, but I haven't seen a solution that works for me. How can I convert the .mov files to get Log and transfer in FCE to accept them?Hi(Bonjour)!
This pocket camera record H.264. So the material as to be converted to a format supoported natively by FCE as Apple Intermediate Codec 1080. Search this forum with +MPEG streamclip+ keyword.
