Cannot Manage User Groups for sampleportal

Hi:
Hopefully someone has seen this and has a solution. We've installed the sampleportal
application and have begun to add portal pages and new portlets as a proof of concept.
We're trying to entitle a portlet to a specific User Group. The groups exist.
However, clicking on the User Group Mgmt. link yields a NullPointerException. Trying
to edit a user brings up the Edit User Attributes page with the link to edit the
password, but another NullPointerException for the Property Sets and Properties associated
with REAPVisitor1 Edit portion.
Hopefully someone has an idea. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Chris
The error text for the User Group Mgmt. is:
An error occurred:

You cannot restrict on the users to view a particular folder
    (say IT
dept) using contribute. Infact there is a setting in IIS
    Webserver which
allows you to set an Authentication mechanism where users
    when browsed
to any site on your webserver will be prompted for username
    and password.
But you might want to try something like this.. not sure if
    this will
    help you...
    1. Create 4 connections in contribute
    a) first connection to "Open for all users" directory on
    your webserver.
    b) second connection to "IT Department" directory on your
    webserver.
    c) third connection to "Directory dept"... etc
    2. This way you can administer 4 sites and send connection
    keys to them
    accordingly...
    Hope this helps.

  • How to add a default user group for multiple document type's?

    Hi,
I am trying to add same default user group for different document types when MA is created. Is there any way to setup using a single "Document Security Template"? Or I need to create different templates for different document types?
    Please confirm.
    Thanks,
    Saloni

    Hi Saloni,
Based on what your specific requirement, it might be easier to do it with scripting.
If you are doing it using Document Security Templates, you would have to create a Document Security Template for each of the 6 MA types and assign the default group. Create another one and leave the Document Type field blank, so it will apply to the other 4 MA types that don't have a default group.

  • Need Help on WRFMGROUP - Manage Maintenance Groups for articles

    Hi,
Has anybody used WRFMGROUP-Manage Maintenance Groups for articles for seasonal procuremen article creation.
I need this to update some article master fields ( like Listing procedure) while creating the article in the background.( WRFAPC11)
    Kindly help.
    Jajati

    Hi Jajati,
you can use the Maitenance Group to define the fields you have to maintain. Therefore, create a maintenance group in transaction WRFMGROUP. Add the needed Field Groups to the maintenance group - the field group contains the article master fields you can fill when using this maintenance group.
As far as I know, you can use the maintenance group in transaction WRFMATBODY after releasing the article in transaction WRFAPC11. I'm not sure, if you can use the maintenance group in the releasing process. In transaction WRFMATBODY, you can the fill in all the fields assigned to the field group.
    Hope it helps.

  • No provisioning of User Group for authorization field in user master

We are implementing CUP 5.3 workflows. Both in manual proviosing and automated provisioning based on User Defaults the user group gets only provisioned to the Groups tab in SU01. The field User Group for authorization on the Logon data tab remains empty (field CLASS from system table USLOGOND, filling CLASS field in table USR02).
In User defaults both under user default as on the user group tab the user groups have been defined. In manual provisioning the correct list of user groups get displayed for selection.
Under field mapping in the Application field I only find User Group in user master maintenance, but not User group for authorization. However I would assume I do not need to use field mapping, as I want to automate this provisioning based on user defaults.
Am I missing a configuration setting here? If so, where can I set it?
I would assume the provisioning of this field is possible. RAR reports the user group also based on the User group for auhtorization and not from the Groups tab.

    S.Pados,
I can assure you that what I said in my last response does provision the User Group For Authorization Check on the Logon Data tab; in fact, I was having the opposite issue where the Group tab was not being provisioned; however, I am ruunning AE 5.2 and you said you are running 5.3; maybe something did change or got lost in the releases; it probably is good to see what SAP has to say about this; I would hate to lose this capapbility when I upgrade to AE 5.3
    As far as using the custom field for multiple applications, would that field not be usable for any of the applications you would select in the request form?; if you are using the same table names in the different SAP systems (selectable by the application field on the request) would the drop down selections be whatever the table has defined for that system? I may not be understanding something here so I am just asking;
It would be great to have a Group field automatically filled in by another selection to avoid the user involvement; I agree with you there; because of our concerns on users entering the AE request, our shop has decided to continue with the users submitting the request through normal email and the security administrators perform the AE entering; this way we have a better idea on something like the GROUP field; we have an option to include the original email as an attachment for justification of the request
Sorry I could not be of more help

  • Lion upgrade removes user/group for nagios (nrpe)

    FYI:
Maybe this'll help someone else. I run nrpe/nagios on a couple of my Macs. Upgrading to Lion from SL the upgrade installer removed the user/group for nrpe. On reboot, launchd could not start the process because getpwnam("nagios") failed. The error was repeatedly reported to system.log (Macintosh com.apple.launchd[1] (org.nagios.nrpe[18251]): getpwnam("nagios") failed) causing launchd to use excessive CPU and battery. Recreating the user/group allows the process to start, which allowed launchd to return to normal CPU levels. Also maybe helpful is that when I turned networking off launchd stoped reporting the error which caused the symptoms to stop (which sent me down a fruitless path).
This error occurred on both a MBP and a Mac Mini. I've reported in via feedback.
    Thanks for listening... Mark

I have a similar problem - I need to change my account (short) name so that I can backup both my old computer and new computer on timecapsue independently.  However, the link you provided is only for 10.6 and earlier, not for Lion.  Are the instructions for Lion similar?  For one, I have no directory utility on Lion.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Define User/Group for an SMB share being mounted!

    Ave,
Mac OS X 10.3.9 had a very easy way of defining UID & GID of a share being mounted on a mount point, to define an Owner of the content.
    mount_smbfs -u 70 -g 70 //usr:pwd@ip/share SharePoint
This would make Apache Web Server the User/Group for the mounted share, and this way PHP could access the files on the mounted share with no problems.
Leopard has elimited that -u & -g arguments to mount_smbfs, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to define User/Group on a share being mounted.
    Any clues?

    sudo -u www mount_smbfs -f 0777 -d 0777 //usr:pwd@ip/share node fixed it!

  • JES Access Manager User Creation for Messanger

    Hi Everyone
I installed JES 2005 Q4 on Solaris 10 x86 with schema 2 and Access Manager 7. The Directory Tree is as follows:
    Sol1.nucleussoftware.com:389
    dc=nucleussoftware,dc=com (34 acis)
    DSAME Users
    Internet
    People
    Groups
    Client Data
    services
    nucleussoftware.com
    People
    Groups
    o=Netscape Root (3 acis)
    cn=Schema (6 acis)
    cn=monitor (5 acis)
    cn=config (4 acis)
Organization DN when I ran "configutil" after running comm_dssetup.pl, was specified o=nucleussoftware,dc=nucleussoftware,dc=com
This is fresh installation and not any migration.
Now I create user from Access Manager, http://sol1.nucleussoftware.com/amserver
There are two organizations 1. Nucleussoftware and 2. Nucleussoftware->nucleussoftware.com
So I have two locations to create users in People.
When I create user from Access Manager and try to login into WebMail, I get Login Failed.
But when I open "startconsole" or "mpsconsole" and open Messaging Server Console and in new user's property, Account Attribute, I mark the check box, and now try to login into WebMail, I get error message, "Mailbox is on a different server".
I am missing one attribute that I used to get with schema 1 on iPlanet 5.2 for any user, Mail Server Address.
Please tell me the exact method of creating a user for Messaging.
    Regards
    Amit Bist

Access Manager was never intended to create working mail users. The Delegated Admin package is provided as part of JES, and that's what it is for, to manage users and groups. There's both a web interface, and a command-line interface, "commadmin"
Or, you can examine the ldap entries for the automatically created accounts, and duplicate that. Messaging doesn't really care how the ldap entries get done, just so that they are done correctly.

  • Managing user groups

Hi, I have just begun to look into Connect as an LMS solution for an upcoming project. I will have a number of user groups - different clients (companes) that I will want to have organized with access permissions. is there an area in Connect where I can manage this? For example can I add 50 people in company A to a preset list and then push an eLearning module/lesson to them?
If there is a manual you could direct me to that adresses this that would be great as well.
    Best, Steve

Sorry Just found this, you can delete this thread - sorry! :-)

  • Managing users, groups and shares with Mavervicks server

I recently upgraded from Snow Leopard Server to Mavericks.
In Snow Leopard, WorkGroup manager was the primary way to create shares, users and groups. Now it would seem that it is optional and in fact, I do not even see how to create a share in WorkGroup except for perhaps a group share which I'm not quite sure how to do.
For my setup, I have setup Open Directory and create a few Local Network users. DHCP is managed via my airport and the DNS is on but only for server and points to my Airport IP address.
    QUESTIONS:
Should I be managing users with WorkGroup manager or server app, Whats the advantage?
I don't have user profiles (files) stored on the server they are local. That being the case, why does each user have a network folder on the server?
    Thanks!

Workgroup Manager and MCX are deprecated.  These technologies should only be used if you can not accomplish your tasks with Server.app and Profile Manager.  If you have specific requirements that can not be satisfied in Server.app and Profile Manager you should send feedback to Apple.
    So to your questions:
Should I be managing users with WorkGroup manager or server app, Whats the advantage?
I don't have user profiles (files) stored on the server they are local. That being the case, why does each user have a network folder on the server?
1:  Ideally, no.  Unless...  You are supporting machines prior to 10.8.5 or can not find an equivalent function in Server.app and Profile Manager.  There is no advantage to using it.  Apple will eventually stop distributing it.  It is available now for legacy support only.  If you have a need for MCX management then WGM remains viable.  But, ideally, you should be looking to Profile Manager.
2:  This is because you created your accounts using Local Home Folder template instead of None - Services Only.  The Local Home Folder template has the unfortunate side-effect of creating a user home folder on the server.  I too dislike this.  If you only want to use the accounts for services, then you should create the accounts using None - Services Only.  By the way, it is safe to delete these home folders if you would like.
