Cannot open reference to Word in "New Report.vi"

I am trying to fill a Word template, but cannot get past an error inside the New Report.vi.
The Automation Open subVI returns the following error:
Error -2147312566 occurred at Error loading type library/DLL.
in New Report.vi
This error code is undefined. No one has provided a description for this code, or you might have wired a number that is not an error code to the error code input.
The previous error is replaced within the New Report.vi with this error:
Error -41106 occurred at New Report.vi
Possible reason(s):
Report Generation Toolkit: Microsoft Word or Excel did not open. Make sure Microsoft Word or Excel is installed.
The New Report.vi works without error for Standard Report, HTML & Excel report types.
I have removed/reinstalled Office(97) and the Report Generation Toolkit (1.1); no improvement seen.
FYI: LabVIEW 7.1.1
Does anyone have any suggestions for debugging the cause of this error?
Thanks for any suggestions,
James

Hi James,
The behavior that you are describing has previously been reported for Report Generation Toolkit 1.1 with Microsoft Word 97 SR2 (Service Release 2). I haven't seen the error reported with SR1, so a removal of the SR2 update might cure the issue.
Other workarounds for this issue includes to use version 1.0.1 of the Report Generation Toolkit instead, or to upgrade your version of Microsoft Office. It may also work to force-recompile your VIs. Open the VI and press CTRL-SHIFT-Run. This may suddenly make the VI broken. Now click the broken Run arrow to display the error list. Find each property node that is broken and attempt to re-select the same or similar property from the list.
Please let me know if you are able to get it to work by using my suggestions, thanks.

Why suggest "ignore iWork"? I use iWork exclusively now, since dumping MS Office and I like it.
On its own it's fine, as a replacement for Office it's mediocre. Unable to save in Office format you are pushed into exporting (extra steps) simply to create an Office compatible file. Pages barely renders a Word document correctly (a trait also shared by Libre/Open Office). Numbers is a very poor substitute for Excel (the free ones are better).
And for all this you are expected to pay, whereas the other alternatives do a better job (with MS Office files) without a financial insult.
If Office is not in the equation I recommend iWork.

• I cannot open excel but word and powerpoint do open

I cannot open excel but word and powerpoint are OK.  what have I done to create this?

I supposed that you knew which applications you have on the computer. Pages is an application in the iWork suite and so are Keynote and Numbers. If you don't have them you have some other applications. Have a look in the application folder.

• Creative Cloud is always empty and I cannot update LR and PS and cannot open RAW files from my new camera!

My Creative Cloud is always empty.  I've had this trouble for over a year.  I cannot update Lightroom because of it and Photoshop does not update properly.  I cannot open the RAW files from my new camera, a Nikon D750.  Each time I want to update, I have to talk to you and delete things and reinstall things but it doesn't fix it properly!
I have contacted Adobe before and always have to go through a tedious delete stuff and reinstall, then next time it happens all over again.
I'm really fed up with it and want to know how to fix it properly.  I am in the UK, if that makes any difference.

• Using Firefox 4.01, I cannot open a PDF in a new taw or window -- window opens but no PDF ever opens and cannot find in download file or any other file on my mac?

Mac Powerbook OS 10.6.7
Firefox 4.0.1
After a recent update, I now cannot open PDFs that have typically opened in a new tab or window? Have searched preferences for a fix but no dice... help?

Try this. Open one of your files. The window that contains your picture is named at the top. Command click on the name and you'll see the entire path starting with its name and then moving to the folder, the folder it is contained in, etc all the way to down to the hard drive volume name. This should tell you where to find the folder.

• Cannot open books in iBooks ipad2 new purchases and ones I am reading

Cannot open downloaded books in iBook library  I could before

If you haven't already done so then try closing the iBooks app via the iPad's multitasking bar and then do a soft-reset and see if you can then open the books. To close iBooks : Bouble-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag the iBooks app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
Soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If you still can't open them then copy your ibooks over to your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases (that will copy epubs and/or PDFs in the iBooks app, not just actual ibooks ; you might also be able to redownload ibooks via the Purchased tab in the iBookstore in the app), delete the app from your iPad, and then redownload the app and sync your books back - deleting the app will lose any notes/highlights that you have in your books

• Why I cannot open a link in a new tab, since I upgraded firefox to the latest version ?

I can't open a google search option in a new tab, since I upgraded Firefox to version 33.0. I also cannot downgrade firefox, to solve this problem.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings, disables most add-ons (extensions and themes). See the Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode article for more information.
If Open Link in new tab works in Safe mode, one of the extensions/add-ons (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) was causing the problem. Then let us know what extension or plugin are you using that causes this problem.
You can also try the Reset Firefox Feature. The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.
See the Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems article for more information.
To Reset Firefox:
# Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
#*Click the menu button , click help and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
#*If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
#At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Reset Firefox" that looks like this: . Click on it.
#Firefox will close and reset. After it is done, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
#Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.
Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!
Thank you.

• Cannot open iTunes after moving to new Mac

I just replaced my original MacBook with one of the new ones, the aluminum 2.0 GHz one with the RAM upgraded to 4 GB. I had everything on the hard drive of my old computer transferred to the new computer by the staff at the Apple store.
However, now when I try to open iTunes, I get a message saying, "The file "iTunes Library" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes," and no iTunes window. Every iTunes menu option is grayed over except for "Hide iTunes" and "Hide others", so I can't check for updates. When I click OK to the message saying "The file "iTunes Library" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes," iTunes closes.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Update you iTunes by running Software Update (Apple Menu-> Software Update) or going to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

• Cannot open Yahoo searches in a new tab

When I do a Yahoo search and attempt to open a search result in a new tab, I get "You have chosen to open and application/octet-stream" and it opens an "Untitled" tab.
I can avoid this error by simply clicking on the search result in the same window.
This has just started in the past two days and is generally Yahoo specific. I don't have this problem with Google, but I don't normally use Google.
Similar Mozilla error have been reported in the past, but not exactly like this error.
No recent or significant changes in my OS or PC configuration

In my case it was the greasemonkey addon. Once i've desable it, everything went right. Thanks for that hint!

• Cannot open LR4 Catalogue in a new iMAC

I have just bought a new iMAC. That was yesterday.
I already had LR4 purchased and used it regularly on my older iMAC. The LR4 Catalogue and Images were all installed in an external USB disk
So today, after installing LR4 and a trial version of PS6 (I own PS5) on my new iMAC, I connected the external USB disk, which had my LR4 Catalogue and images, and tried to OPEN the LR4 Catalogue in question. To my surprise, I got a dialogue box which read:
"Lightroom cannot launch with this catalog. It is either on a network volume or on a volume on which Lightroom cannot save changes.
The catalog's location is /Volumes/Toshiba_1TB/LACIE_2/LACIE_2/LACIE_2-2-2.lrcat."
I got so frustrated, that I IMPORTED the catalogue instead. After some while (25000 images), LR4 imported the images, with keywords, etc. Of course LR did so in a location on the iMAC HD, which is something I do not particularly like.
Anyway, I went to the smart collections, just to check that everything worked out all right, and opened one of them.
But when I tried to edit one of the images, I got this dialogue box:
"Lightroom was unable to prepare the selected file at /Volumes/Toshiba_1TB/LACIE_2/Art Projects/CHICA de Anne Marie/Chika de Anne Marie_ii.jpg for editing.
It will not be opened."
Could sombody tell me, please, if there's a way to open my original catalogue in the UDB external drive'
If that was not possible, why to I get the second dialogue box when I try to edit the image in the smart collection, telling me that the image would not open?
Thank you for your help.

I'm not a Mac person, but it seems highly likely that you are having permissions problems. Your current user on the new Mac doesn't have permission to write to the external drive from the previous machine.
Fixing up your permissions ought to make things work for you.

• I cannot open a favorite in a new tab.

When I choose a favorite, right click open and choose "open in new tab" nothing happens.
I also have the problem of when I choose the new tab +, it opens to a yahoo search page. This has just started too. I can not find anywhere to disable that feature.

There are at least 4 places you could try with the bookmark: do any of them work normally?
* Bookmarks menu on the orange Firefox button or classic menu bar
* Bookmarks Toolbar (if the bookmark is there)
* Bookmarks Sidebar (Ctrl+b to open/close)
* Library dialog (Ctrl+Shift+b to open/close)
Regarding the new tab, unless an add-on is overriding the internal setting, you may be able to fix it in the about:config preferences editor.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the filter box, type or paste newtab and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and enter the desired value:
(i) Page thumbnails (default)
about:newtab
(ii) Blank tab
about:blank
(iii) Built-in Firefox home page
about:home
(iv) Any other page
full URL to the page
Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?
If you find that doesn't stick between Firefox restarts, there are a couple other things to check.

• Cannot open a URL in a new tab using a bookmarks submenu

I have just been upgraded to v 35.0. Before the upgrade, I could navigate from my bookmarks menu to a sub-menu, and hover over a URL. A right click brought up a context menu that allowed me to Open, Open in a New Tab, Open in a New Window, etc.
After the update, the only options available are Open. The rest of the sub-menu is grayed out. Is the only option now to open a new tab manually and then navigate thru sub-menus to open a site?
Thanks.
