  • Cannot relink media in Creative Cloud

I'm having trouble relinking media from a project created in PP 6.0 when opened in CC. The project opens with all media offline, but the connected external hard drive is not appearing in the media browser - which makes relinking apparently impossible.
    Any help appreciated.

Thanks so much for the prompt reply.  I took the time to get in touch with Adobe support via chat.  Just finding out how to contact them and then do  it was a real chore in itself.  The tech led me through the corrections with the problems in the temp directory.  It was a long and painful process.  In the end it got fixed and (after wading through a couple hours of installation routines) I have InDesign and the three other apps installed and working.  It seems to me that InDesign has a real problem here.  I was installing into a Win 7 OS that I had just clean installed on a brand new hard drive so it's difficult to understand why the problem occurred.  Just another anomaly in the world of bits and bites, I guess.

  • FM RH Integration: Broken Link to Book, the Fatal Flaw?

I thought that I had fixed this issue. But, I ran into @ a recent conference where I met someone who experienced the same issue. The problem is that when you integrate projects from FM to RH on the same computer they retain that path. If you change the directory of one, you must re-establish the connection.
This is all well and good. However,m if you move the FM>RH project to another computer and try to open the RH project, it asks you to re-establish the link. Again, well and good.
The real problem occurs when you try to do this for several RH projects coming out of the same FM book. In this case, there is no message to relink the RH and FM book (as RH does in the previous cases). Instead you cannot update the RH topics from the book, cannot relink the FM book, nor do anything else, really.
I ran into this with colleague at work. We were zipping the projects and putting them into a CMS. Then we'd download them and unzip. He received this bad error and eventually the complete corruption of the project (yes, even after deleting the .cpd file). I fixed this problem for the ONE FM>RH project that he had by deleting the book and re-adding it by reference.
Then I met someone at this conference who had the same problem. I thought I had the fix for him. But it turns out that it did not work on his machine. Now I am experiencing the same problem.
I have had to port several projects from MS XP to 2007. And I just spent all day having to recreate four projects in Japanese from the same FM book because 1) RH did not ask me to relink the book, 2) I could not delete the book and re-add it, 3) and when I did try to delete the book from the RH project, RH shuts down and says "Woops, sorry, we have a problem. Sorry. Bye." (Almost literally.)
Then it completely goes bonkers and just shuts down - sans message - without any indication about what is going on.
Has anyone had or experienced this same issue? I have some major projects that I will have to port to this upgraded operating system. I know that it is not the OS since it occurred on this other person's computer who was not using the same OS as I have. So what is it?

I have run more tests  and am verging on certainty that this is a conditional text problem - at least for my projects.
That is, I have three RH six RH projects linking to the same FM book. Three in English, three in Japanese.
When I port the RH projects to a different directory and open them, I do not receive the relink request. If I attempt to update from the book, the project crashes and the cpd is corrupted.
I can, however, delete the book and re-add by reference. I can only do this, though, for the project in English. When I try to do it for the Japanese projects, RH crashes completely. After the crash, I cannot delete the book, nor can I update, nor do anything much else. If I do continue trying to delete the book, the project becomes corrupted and useless.
I am not completely convinced that the problem is a conditional text issue, however. As I noted, my buddy from the Philippines had the same crash scenarios, but he was not using conditional text that includes other languages.
That is my story, and I am sticking with it.

  • My images in LR 4.3 suddenly have been duplicated.

All of my 20,000 images in LR 4.3 were suddenly duplicated.  All the adjustments, ratings, just as if I had selected all and clicked "Create virtual Copy".  Is there a way to eliminate duplicate images or undo this mystriuos process?  In checking, the second image is a copy of the JPEG image which I exposrted to another location.  How can I handle these to somehow get rid of them or do they really not do anything except clutter up the content?
    Thanks

Now I think I understand even less than before about your workflow
So let me continue with [more questions]:
Are you using a Mac or a Windows-PC?
    Msmoto1 wrote:
I move NEF files from the XQD card inot a file called NEF Dirct [via Windows Explorer or Mac Finder?], this being on a 2 TB hard drive attcahed via USB.  From this NEF Direct folder, I then import the files to LR [via ADD in the import dialog of LR?].  I further deit, deleting about 75% of the files from the disk after impart. [could have some danger here so early, so I'd be cautious and just label them as reject - hit letter X, do actual deletion sometime later.]
To make it easier to find the NEF files once I have taken them in from the XQD card [why find them - in which software? LR is sufficient, you need not consciously know where the files are as long as you do every subsequent move from within LR], I every now and then close the folder and crewate a new folder [via Windows Explorer or Mac Finder?] to bring over the NEF files from the card.  My suspician is this either changing the folder name or something in this area is why the NEF files are not seen by LR. [should not matter if you do this before the import. Afterwards you would break the link if done outside from LR.] In spite of this, the ones brought up by the aparent glitch after the backup on 12.27.12 show the actual image exported to another folder on the same external hard drive, but do not seem able to find the original NEF files. [Does that mean you have "?" in your thumbnails, saying the file is offline or missing?] [Did you do an Export from LR?]
So, while the catalog is a bit cluttered, it is not showintg the most recent images in both NEF and JPEG, so maybe it is a wait and see issue. [There are no wait and see issues. LR needs some time to create its previews, but you see the thumbnails all the time.]
I suppose I could somehow go back to the 12.27.12 backup catalog and import the more recent images form the current catalog.  Is this possible? [Did you already do some work on these more recent images, like keywording and developing?]
Generally you can merge 2 different catalogs into 1, but careful setting of check-marks, in order to not have even more clutter by virtual copies.
You would open the catalog with most good stuff in it: assume the 12.27.12-catalog, or better a copy created by Windows Explorer/Mac Finder, in order to still have it - things can always go wrong.
Then you choose Menu File-Import From Another Catalog, then select your current catalog.
LR will show a box for "preparing", then come up with a dialog box:
if there are new photos found (bound to in your case), you can add them without moving.
If there are metadata changes to the images which overlap in both catalogs, you can select from the dropdown list to Replace Nothing /  Metadata and Develop Settings only / Metadat, develop seetings and negative files.
You can tick for a virtual copy (so you have 2 interpretation versions, one from each catalog). If tick "Show preview", you get a similar list of thumbnails like in the original import dialog to Check all, Uncheck all and recheck selectively.
You could ease this if you would not take the full current catalog as source for the merge, but export from your current catalaog the supposed incremental portion of images in between Dec27 and today. Then there would be no overlap between the 12.27.12-backup and the source. You do this by first opening your current catalog, selecting the images between Dec27 and today, then go for File-Export as catalog.
All this ex-/importing of catalogs may be superfluous if you did not yet invest work in the images between Dec27 and today, other than merely importing them into your current catalog.
If so, then simply re-do the import into the 12.27.12-copy.
My instructions only work if you have all the NEFs available, and can remove any "?" by plugging your external USB-HD.
If you should still have "?" which you cannot relink, you are in more trouble.
Forgive me if I may understimate your LR knowledge due to your juniority on this forum, but it may be worth while to first ensure your overall understanding of LR. If you learn best by watching video tutorials, I'd recommend Julianne Kost's intro series http://tv.adobe.com/show/getting-started-with-adobe-photoshop-lightroom-4/.
If you prefer reading material for easy searchability, I'd recommend an eBook from Victoria Bampton: "The missing LR FAQs" http://www.lightroomqueen.com/books/adobe-lightroom-4-missing-faq/
    Good luck,
    Cornelia

  • Re-importing video question

I did a three-hour interview with a subject in my documentary that is spread over three MiniDV tapes. Originally, because of storage constraints I only imported the pieces of the interview that I cared about, and I've since used those clips in my FCPro project.
Now I have a lot more storage, and I'd like to go back and re-import the -entire- thing, all three tapes worth. Is there a way for me to import this video in FCPro 5, then map my earlier clips to this new footage, allowing me to delete all the mini fragments of interview that currently litter my hard drive?
It's a slightly confusing situation...let me know if I can describe it any further.
    Thanks.

Not really. You will have to manually go thru the cut and find those small bits, then open up the main clip and match the timecode. So if the interview started at 1:05:13:10, then you go to that location on the large clip and cut it in.
FCP sees name and duration when it looks at a clip. It cannot relink to the new big clips for the differ in both respects.

  • Final Cut Server Make Link Not working. And I could almost swear this wrkd

I am trying to create a link to a new primary representation of an asset ( I am using a script to move it due to space constraints) and I cannot relink to the new file with:
    sudo ./fcsvr_client make_link --llinktype 2 /asset/4387 /dev/19/Set%20Test%201.mov
    CODE = E_DATABASE, DESC = ERROR: null value in column "childentityid" violates not-null constraint, SRC_FILE = PmsTask_Db.C, SRC_LINE = 295
I cannot create a link of ANY type.. Even if I try a link type of 15 for edit proxy it wont complete... Now here is something interesting thought.. I one time accidentally hot the return key before I had completed type out the movie name and it created a link to /dev/19 successfully .. Of course that doesn't work because it is a device not a movie...
    Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hi -
I have recently dealt with this issue - the command line error is because FCS is trying to "make" the link, but cannot link to a file that is not already associated with some kind of Final Cut Server "entity", be it on the parent side of the link, or child side.
I would ask, if you're replacing one primary rep with another, why you can't simply replace the file on the device, with the exact same filename?
At any rate, if you need to run make_link, you'll need to have the file associated with an FCS entity already, before running make_link. For some proxies in our workflows, this is accomplished by creating a "proxy" asset to be the entity in question, and then running make_link as you described.
    I hope that helps!

  • Workflow Prelude-Premiere-Speedgrade

    Hello,
I'm trying to arrange a workflow using Prelude to create subclips from original footage, send the subclips to edit in Premiere, then exporting in Speedgrade to grade and 3d adjusting (I'm working on a stereoscopic project).
My problem is that if I use sublicps that have different names from the original source clips, I cannot relink in speedgrade because it needs name matching between reels and file names.
I have to manually relink every reel to corrispondent clip checking the file name in PPro....
Any suggestion? (other than not using subclips in PPro but original footage...)
    Thank you
    Stefano

    I reply to myself....
The correct workflow is not to send the clip from Prelude, but import it from media browser in Premiere, this way I have into project the source clip and the subclips created with Prelude in this form  Nameoftheclip.nameofthesubclip
If I use the subclip in timeline Speedgrade can reconnect the reels and sources (even with left and right channels in case of 3D)
Hope this is useful for someone else :-)

  • PayPal SmartConnect unlinked

I was approved for a PayPal Smartconnect account on my PayPal account that I have had for 9 years. Once the account was linked to my wallet I went back to my dashboard and clicked on the tab for PayPal Credit. I applied for that and was approved as well but I was not able to link my PayPal Credit because your only allowed one PayPal credit product. So in order to use the PayPal credit I was told by a PayPal Customer Service Rep that I would have to create a new PayPal account and I did and I began using my PayPal Credit account. When I called in to ask if could move my PayPal Credit to the account with the Smartconnect and move the Smartconnect to the account with PayPal credit, I was told yes but that PayPal would have to unlink both accounts and then I could link them on PayPal.com. The unlink was done and I was able to link my PayPal Credit to my 9 year old account. I was not able to relink the PayPal Smartconnect online and I called PayPal and I was to I had to contact Syncronhy to have it linked. I contacted Sycronhy  and I spoke with a manager named Christopher who conferenced me with PayPal for a solution. I was told that Sycronhy had to do it and Christoper attempted to explain to PayPal that he only issued  and services PayPal SmartConnect. I ended up speaking with a supervisor from PayPal who advised me that what I wanted to do with my PayPal SmartConnect account was not possible and that when the unlink was done that my PayPal SmartConnect was closed and I would have to reapply for SmartConnect. Christopher from Sycronhy told the supervisor that my SmartConnect was not closed and that I did not need to reapply. In the end I had my PayPal Credit relinked to the orginal PayPal account I created to us it and now I have a PayPal SmartConnect account I can no longer access and cannot relink to the account it was opened with. So now how do I manage and pay my Smarconnect account if I can't see it in my wallet?

Congrats on your new approvals.. I have some SYnc backed cards with lower than that but I've had them a long time from back when GE bank, but they do seem to be high regardless.. best bet is PIF on these unless you got a promo of some kind....

I have successfully set the computer to read / run both libraries from the hard drive & they are working well as a stand alone. ( I Have done this before)
Unforntualey this time I foolishly moved some itunes album folders around from compulations / various artists into the main media file before checking into what the ramifications would be.
After searching on here I learned that was not advised as itunes would not be able to automaticly find them since I moved them.
In itunes clicked on some of the exclamtion marks of the songs that I moved & linked them up to the main media folder so they could be now found by itunes. I believe itunes asked to look there in that location for all missing files & I selected that option.
It appears to have worked as when I click on them in itunes they now play.. yeah!
But now I am finding that when I try to add certain songs for slideshows in iphoto & imovie that those moved songs cannot be found by those programs :-(
( I assume the same would be true for iDVD)
So my questions are... Is there now a way to have those other programs find the moved songs?
I do have a older backup of my itunes media & I can try & move the album folders back to the original place they where by comparing the two but it is a very large library of 40k songs... so I thought to ask the knowledge & wisdom of the community before I attempted any further fixes.
It would take a bit of time but it could be done & I don't want to just use the older copy of my itunes as I have made many additions of albums to the library & added allot of album artwork as well. (Stuff that "itunes" & "tune up" couldn't automatically find)
Thanks in advance for any advice on this silly mistake I made.
    Sal

Try the following:  delete the iPhoto preference file, <b><i><font color="maroon">com.apple.iPhoto.plist</font></i></b>, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Also delete the com.apple.iApps.plist file from the same Preferences folder.  Then launch iTunes and then iPhoto.  See if that will restore the links.
