Cannot upgrade software on sensor due to digital signature update file

Attached is a jpg of the error message when trying to apply update through IDM for the latest version:
IPS-SSM_20-K9-sys-1.1-a-7.0-6-E4.img
I've downloaded the image twice now from Cisco.  I've done a token reboot but that didnt help.
I did apply the recovery image right before this with no issues.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
J

You've experience a very common area of confusion.
There are multiple different file types of the same version.
Some of which can be applied through IDM and CLI, and otherwise which can only be applied through other methods.
Basic Types:
System Images
Recovery Packages
Uprgade Packages
System Images have "-sys-" in the filename and generally end in .img.
These files can Not be installed through IDM or the CLI.
These files will erase the entire compact flash and install a completely new image on the system.
These files are generally only used when trying to get back to an Older image, or when you believe that the current image on the sensor has been Corrupted.
They are not recommended for upgrading as the configuration of the sensor will be completely removed during erasing of the compact flash.
They are installed through either ROMMON (on appliances), from the hw-module recover command of the ASA (on ASA IPS modules), through the bootloader (on AIM and NME router modules), or through the maintenance partition (in the IDSM2 Cat 6K module).
In your case it was a System Image you were trying to install through IDM, which is not allowed.
Recovery Packages have "-r-" in the filename and end in .pkg.
They will re-image the Recovery partition of the sensor.
They are installed using IDM or the CLI upgrade command.  (.pkg files work with the Upgrade command)
The "recover" command on the sensor can then be used to boot to the Recovery Partition and re-image the Application partition to that version.
The "recover" can be done from a remote box through an SSH connection to the sensor.  Unlike System Images which often require a Console connection or connection to the hosting device.
Recovery Packages are recommended when you believe that the current image on the sensor has been Corrupted.
They can often be used for Downgrading to an older version, but this is not officially supported (and will sometimes fail, if it fails then you need to use a System Image instead).
Upgrade Packages come in different types.
Major, Minor, and Service Pack upgrade files do not have a designator in their name, and usually just have the platform and version.
Signature Updates have "-sig-" in the name.
Engine Updates have "-engine-" in the name.
All Upgrade Packages end in .pkg.
Upgrade Packages can be installed using IDM or the CLI upgrade command.
In your situation you want to download the Upgrade file for 7.0-6-E4 instead of the System Image file.
Because the SSM-20 has the common architecture it will use the standard upgrade file that does not list the platform name.
The package you want is IPS-K9-7.0-6-E4.pkg.

  • Update on 10.6.8 fails due to digital signature on update is missing

wanting to install the Parallels version 10 and it won't work on 10.6.8 version of my Mac OS so I learned how to go to the software update which indicates an update is available. When I go ahead and load the update it runs fine and then stops with a message that the Macbook Pro EFI Firmware Update can't be saved. It says the digital signature on the update is missing or invalid.
I don't know if the digital signature is on my computer or the update? I would upgrade to a more recent version of the OS but don't know what will work.
    Can anyone help?
    Dan

Parallels 10 isn't compatible with 10.6 according to the web site.
    Mac Requirements
    Hardware:
A Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor (Core Solo and Core Duo processors are no longer supported)
Minimum 2 GB of memory (4 GB of memory is recommended to run Windows 7 in a virtual machine or if your host OS is Lion)
About 850 MB of disk space on the boot volume (Macintosh HD) for Parallels Desktop installation
About 15 GB of disk space for each virtual machine
    Software:
OS X Yosemite 10.10 or later
OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 or later
Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 or later
Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 or later
Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks/Yosemite.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) model number 5,1 or higher
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

    Applications Compatibility (2)
    Do a backup before installing.
If you can/do upgrade, I recommend you make a copy of the installer and move it out of your Applications folder. The installer self-destructs. The copy will keep you from having to download the installer again.  You can make a bootable USB stick to install using this free program.

Note - Mavericks is no longer available.

  • Cannot install itunes - message "unknown publisher & no digital signature

I have been using itunes for ages but on Tuesday when i tried to update my IPOD it froze so i then checked that i had the most up date itunes by downlading the latest version which i have done loads of times without any problem. THis time however every time it downloaded it came up with the error message "unknown publisher" and "no digital signature". It gave the option of running the program still but then it would just close and not do anything!!
I have been to the apple shop and my ipod has been sorted although everything has been wiped as they had to restore it. I have again today tried to download itunes but am still getting the same message so cannot put music back onto my ipod to use!!
I use windows vista and have an ipod touch. We hav also tried another computer but are still having the same problem. Any ideas??
    Thanks
    Caz

Should I just get the itunes setup folder from a person that has got it already?
Yes, that usually works. (So long as we can get an undamaged installer onto the PC with one of these, it will usually install fine.)
Another thing that is worth a try is seeing if you can connect to a different wireless network, and downloading the installer while you're connected to the internet that way. (The wireless router being grumpy is a common cause of this sort of thing, so by connecting to a different network you're taking the grumpy router out of the equation.)

    Thanks very much, NathalieS

I would delete the download and redownload the updat file.  It is located here for a PC

  • Digital Signature Data File Issue

    Hello all,
I am something of a network administrator / supervisor (by position not education so some of the technical aspects of my shop still alude me). Right now I am having an issue with digitally signing PDF files; previously when I signed the files the size would remain approximately the same (moving perhaps from 200 KB to 300 KB, however when I sign files now the size jumps to almost 7000 KB. Previously I had received a message when signing that indicated I could change a setting to add an extra layer of protection and my hypothesis is that this may be the cause, but I am not 100% sure of that.
Has anyone experienced this problem before, or have any possible solutions? My guess is that there is an option where Adobe controls how secure the signature I create has to be and it defaulted to the more secure, much larger file size after I received the initial notification.
Thank you for your guidance and wisdom.

  • I cannot upgrade software because I don't know my administrator password, and my password hint is "none"

Don't know admin password, and hint is "none"

If you truly  booted into Recovery mode and you do not have the window described in the tip and in Apple's documentation describing Recovery mode then either you didn't  actually book into Recovery, possible if the pressing of the command and R keys is not time right or else you have a major problem with your system and will need to have ti looked at.

  • Cannot Upgrade to 9.2.2 using Apple Download updates

Ok, Some recent hardware changes, and to outright avoid conflicts, I decided to completely wipe (zero data) on my master HDD that had 9.2.2. After the initialization, I proceeded to install 9.0.4 from my original CD-ROM. After this, I proceeded to download and install OS 9.1 and no problems with that. It took a couple of attempts, but that is only because I elected to install language packs, and a CD upgrade is necessary. Did it with out the language pack, and everything was fine.
Now I downloaded the next upgrade that would let me have OS 9.2.1, however, when the download completes, I get this pop up that tells me the smi won't mount error -127 and it is stuck in a loop. I can do a proper shutdown/restart to get past this. After a restart, I see the smi and when I double click, The verification says that it cannot complete the operation. Checksum values do not match.
Why is it all of a sudden this update cannot work? I had recently rebuilt my machine and was able to proceed through all updates before. Has anyone out there experienced the same thing?
I am thinking of possible solutions:
    1. Download the 9.2.1 in the multi part
    2. Try installing the International English version for that update only.
    3. baseball bat... just kidding!
Please let me know any other suggestions you may have.
Hardware changes included upgrade of AGP graphics card from Rage 128 to Radeon 128 with DVI and S-Video Output. Addition of 128 MB RAM. Installed a combo drive as well. All parts work, and have had no problems.

There are several solutions & meanings for Error 127(positive) & Error -127(negative).
That error is most commonly caused by Stuffit Expander intruding where it should not. The download is in a .smi (self-mounting image) format, a format generated by Apple's Disk Copy. Stuffit Expander has ShrinkWrap technology built-in, which allows it to mount some kinds of disk images - but not .smi ones. Yet ShrinkWrap tries to - hence the error message.
The solution - double-click Stuffit Expander, and open its Preferences (under the File menu). Select "Disk Images" from the list on the left, then turn off "Mount Disk Images". Quit Stuffit Expander.
    Please post back your results.

  • Cannot upgrade sensor errTransport-Application

    Hi guys:
I'm about to made an upgrade on a sensor but when I try to do it i got an error message like this
"cannot upgrade software on sensor, errTransport-Application processing the request respondend unexpectedly"
Is it something about a connection problem? or maybe something else.
I want to made an upgrade on my sensor with the version 5.0 to 7.0.5a-(E4).
    Regards.

Here you go, upgrading through CLI:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ips/6.2/installation/guide/hw_system_images.html#wp1088688
Otherwise, if you don't have much configuration on the IPS then just proceed to reimage directly to version 7.0. It's probably the easiest so you don't have to perform the upgrade twice.
But it will wipe out the configuration including the ip address on the IPS.
Here is the reimage steps if you are interested:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ips/6.2/installation/guide/hw_system_images.html#wp1030825
(just go to the section of your respective IPS model).

  • UPGRADED 10.4.11 ON MACBOOK PRO TO 10.5, NOW UPDATES TO 10.5.8 WILL NOT SAVE, "DIGITAL SIGNATURE DOES NOT MATCH". ANY IDEAS.

UPGRADED 10.4.11 ON MACBOOK PRO INTEL TO 10.5.1 (FAMILY PACK VERSION), UPDATES TO 10.5.8 WILL NOT SAVE DUE TO, "DIGITAL SIGNATURE DOES NOT MATCH". ANY IDEAS? CAN I UPGRADE TO 10.6.1 WITHOUT SAME ISSUE.

Well, not sure if having the disk in a firewire case or over a network would have made a difference.
The solution of making a disk image as in article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2664 was what worked for me.
After, mounting the disk image the Migration Assistant completed without errors. So far everything seems to be working like it did on 10.4.11.

  • How do I add a digital signature to my online form?

With regular Adobe (Standard or Professional) software, you can add a digital signature line.  I want to know how I can do it on FormCentral.
When I PDF the form I created on FormCentral and try to add the digital signature in Adobe, I get a message that I cannot due to security settings of the document.

Formscentral does not support forms with digital signature workflows. I suggest you see if our Echosign product meets your needs.

  • Loading Invoice XML IDoc with digital signature via XI into R/3

    Hi,
I received an Invoice XML IDoc with digital signature via Mail (for test purposes) and want to load it via XI into an R/3 systeme.
My idea is to load the Invoice XML IDoc file via the File Sender Adapter into XI and send it to the R/3 system via the IDoc Inbound adapter.
Due to the digital signature the file looks like this:
    0‚ S      *†H†÷
        ‚ D0‚ @   1 0       +      0‚ '      *†H†÷
        ‚   ‚   ‚ –0‚ ’0‚ û      etc.
When I load the file like this with the File Sender Adapter, an error message occurs in the XI Monitoring as the XML Parser cannot read the file due to the digital signatur (as expected).
Has anybody an idea how I can configure the File Sender Adapter Communication Channel to be able to load only the XML IDoc and ignore the digital Signature strings?
Thanks in advance for your support.

  • Mac OS 10.5.8 update combined can't be saved, Apple digital signature incorrect.

    Hi,
I have tried, several times, to update OS 10.5.1 to 10.5.8 using Apple's online software updater. It takes 20 minutes to download the 768 mb package but then
refuses to save with the following message. 2.16 GHz + 2 GB ram.
Mac OS X can't be saved. The digital signature for this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed by Apple.
I need to update to 10.5.8 so I can then install 10.6 etc.
I have tried to install 10.6 without updating to 10.8 but it shows the message: Mac OS X can't install on this computer. I assume this is because I have not, and
    cannot, updated to 10.5.8.
    Any help would be appreciated.
Apple want me to pay $20 to advise them that their software package has an incorrect digital signature, even though it has only just been downloaded from their servers. No email address to advise Apple of problem.

Hello, it's generally one of two thinks that cause this, but it is a bad download.
Try Ethernet instead of Airport if possible.
    Disk can be corrupted...
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
Try getting it direct instead of SWUPDate...
    Repair Permissions afterwords, reboot.

  • Signature 171 Digital Signature Error

When I install signature 171 to IDSM2's using VMS 2.3 I get: An error occurred while running the update script on the sensor named IDS-C1-B. Detail = An error occurred at the sensor during the update, sensor message = idsPackageMgr: digital signature of the update file was not valid, use CCO to replace corrupted file
The update of the VMS management center and security monitor worked OK. Does anyone know it this signature zip file is really corrupt?
I re-downloaded and replaced the file in VMS, but still got the same message.

Upgrading a sensor via VMS is part of our standard testing procedure for a new signature update and it passed the test!
Unfortunately, for some reasons, the checksum of the file published on Cisco.com doesn't match the checksum of the file we have tested.
My apologies for any inconvenience it could have caused, we are working to have this fixed asap!
I'll post again once this has been done.
