Canon 60DA Won't Power On

I just received my brand new 60DA on Wednesday. I was able to use it, read the manual, get comfortable with it the rest of the evening. That night I hooked it to my scope and using Backyard EOS took it for a run capturing numerous pictures. No issues. When finished, I disconnected from the program, powered off, unplugged and put the body cap cover back on.
The next night, I was not getting any power at all. Thinking the battery may have drained (though it was fully charged during the two hour photo session), I removed it and plugged it into the wall charger. I then inserted the AC adapter. But it still would not power on. The battery was nearly charged as I was getting three flashing lights from the charger.
From what I've read so far some Canon camera's will not power on if there is an issue w/ the memory card or if the lens isn't put on correctly. None of those are issues (the memory card was present both occassions and not used to store images during the session and the camera was mounted to scope using t-ring).
Humidity/Dew was not an issue neither eveninig.
I also read the switch inside the battery housing can sometimes defect though it locks in the battery fine and I see no reason to suspect it isn't operating.
Please someone tell me I didn't get a jacked up camera!!!

An update on the issue as it has happened agian on the replacement (brand new) camera....
The camera was operating fine; I snapped several images of the moon before getting the scope aligned. Towards the end of my moon session I attempted five sequences at different exp/iso settings. Only three images were returned to the program I was using (Backyard EOS).
I did not think anything about it at the time and attempted another run of five shots at different exp/iso settings. Again, only three images were returned. But, not thinkin anything about only getting three out of five, I proceeded to move to a star cluster to have my first attempt at a star field.
The idea was to capture a one-minute exposure. However, as my setting was on M the program instructed me that I needed to change to B (I knew this, just forgot). While the camera was connected to the program, I changed the setting to B. This is when the program stopped responding. I went to check the camera (perhaps battery died). The LCD was on, battery was 3/4 charged. So I went back to the program and told it to connect. It made a long attempt but after several minutes never established a connection.
I then shut down the program and turned the camera off thinking I should reboot. However, when I attempted to turn the camera back on I got no response. Same issue as the last one. The program could not open a connection.
And now I have a second brand new non-working camera.
This is a segment of the program log from when the issues began till I shut down the program. What stands out are the out of memory errors which I would imagine in hindsight is why I never got all five images both occasions. The second is the StateEvent_Shutdown Fired which to my understanding cannot be invoked by the software. Then, after what seems like a potential successful connection at 21:34:13,952, it shows EDS_ERR_MEM_ALLOC_FAILED. I've emphasized (bolded) those points in the log near the end.
Desperately seeking some type of resolution to get my camera back on...

  • My canon xl2 won't power on

My canon xl2 would not power on. Can anybody help

    Hi Fabian,
I'm sorry to hear that your XL2 camcorder won't power up.
If your camcorder won't power up with a fully charged battery attached, it will require service to correct this issue.  I regret the difficulty this causes.  Here's how to send your camcorder in for service:
Please ship your camcorder to the Factory Service Center shown below.  When shipping your Canon camcorder, please be sure to remove any accessories.  You are not required to send any accessories or manuals when shipping the camcorder.
Just fill in (right on your computer) this document, print a copy for your own records (You can't save it with your information) and a copy to send with your camera:
    www.usa.canon.com/app/pdf/dealer/FSC.pdf
As we do not provide RMA numbers for service, we suggest using a trackable and insurable service (i.e. UPS, Federal Express, Priority Mail) to ship your camcorder.  Please package the camcorder very securely in a sturdy shipping box to prevent damage during shipment.
Please send your camcorder to the closest of the following addresses:
    Canon Factory Service
    100 Ridge Rd
    Jamesburg, NJ 08831
    Canon Factory Service
    15955 Alton Parkway
    Irvine, Ca 92618
    Canon Factory Service Center
    12022 Canon Blvd
    Newport News, VA 23606
Upon arrival at the Factory Service Center, your Canon camcorder will be logged in to our repair database and assigned a repair number.  This typically takes between 3 and 5 business days. You will be advised of the findings via email.  If the required repairs are covered by the warranty, the repairs will begin immediately, and you will not be contacted. When the repairs are complete, the camcorder will be shipped back to you via Federal Express.  The length of time for the repair will be dependent upon the nature of the repair and availability of parts, if needed.  Usually, warranted repairs are completed within approximately 7 to 10 business days of the camcorder's arrival at the Factory Service Center.
All decisions regarding warranty coverage are made by the Factory Service Center at the time of repair.  If the repair entails something that is not covered in warranty, a written estimate will be sent to you at the address that you have provided.  The repairs to your camcorder will not begin until you approve this estimate and make payment arrangements.  If, after receiving the estimate, you do not wish to have the camcorder repaired, please inform the Factory Service Center of your decision as soon as possible.  If you decline the estimate, the camcorder will be shipped back to you unrepaired.
Once you have confirmed with your shipper that the camcorder has been delivered, you are more than welcome to contact us for repair updates. Please include your name, address, and telephone number, as well as the serial number of the camcorder, in all repair status inquiries.  If you prefer to check the repair status by phone, please call the Canon Customer Care Center at 1-800-OK-CANON (652-2666).  Agents are available Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to Midnight ET, and on Saturdays from 10 AM to 8 PM ET.  Again, please have the serial number of the camcorder available when you call.
Our U.S. Factory Service Centers are unable to accept packages from or return equipment to addresses outside the United States.

        Oh no Mr.Ected!
I can see if we can get your phone back on! I understand how important it is to have a phone. Have you tried this to see if we can get it back on? http://vz.to/1DZhteH . If it is still goes to a red Verizon screen and then to black we might need to do a master reset. While the phone is off try this:http://vz.to/1DZhXkU Be mindful this is the last resort because it will erase everything on the phone. If you have done back up assistant in the past you will be able to get you contacts back. Please let me know if you need any more help.

  • Please Help! My iPhone 4 won't power on!

iPhone 4, out of warranty coverage, won't power on.
        1.    It has about 60% battery before it dead, but suddenly it became black screen and not responsive (like powered off).
        2.    Whatever I did, like "holding the power button and home button together for 10-25 sec and then pressing the power button again" etc. it just won't power on, no Apple logo!
        3.    But I can seen the "emergancy call" screen when I plugged it with my laptop and it just told me "No Service" at the upper left corner (status bar of iPhone 4).
        4.    iTunes can see it, but only when it was in Recovery mode or DFU mode.
        5.    I also tried to restore it to factory settings in iTunes, but it always gives me an error with various error codes, like 2001, 2006, etc. I also tried restore it under Windows or Mac, but was out of luck too!
        6.    Finally I bought a iPhone 4 battery replacement and replaced the old one with the new one, but nothing changed as if it wasn't replaced its original battery.
        7.    It keeps rebooting at every 10 min or so when It was plugged into my laptop without any operations (pressing any buttons).
        8.    It can be "powered on" only when it was plugged into a computer. It will IMMEDIATELY be in "dead mode" as long as I disconnect it from the computer (like taking out a battery from an iPhone that is powered on)!
        9.    Everything worked fine before it dead, I don't know what happened to it! I am so frustrated!
Please help! Thank you so much!

    USB Problem, possibly bad Cable.
I misread your original post "It keeps rebooting at every 10 min or so when It was plugged into my laptop".
I thought you had a boot loop problem, but you say "rebooting when plugged into laptop" this is not the typical boot loop problem, because you had the iPhone connected to laptop.
Connected by what, obvioulsy a USB Cable, Error 2006, is most often due to faulty USB Cable.
Clean that Dock Port Very Well especially with Isopropyll Alcohol, get a good USB Cable, try a different USB port on computer, or try a different computer.

Sorry about the long title.....its my first post.
My kid just got a brand new iPod 5th generation (today from Santa) and it won't power up or charge. The only response is when I connect the USB and press the power button or front button the Battery appears with red line on left and lightning symbol below. There is no other response at all no matter what I do, including holding both buttons down for extended period.  My other kid got one and it works perfectly.....I have interchanged usb cables ports etc. but still no response....I would really appreciate any help.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you have a hardware problem with the iPod. This is because as you said the same cable works with another iPod.

  • Zen Vision:M 30GB won't power down; any ide

I've had a 30GB Zen Vision M for a couple of months now! Awesome player, went through the usual round of recognition problems, but it's been working fine of late. My problem is, it won't power down now. When I try to power down, the unit says it's powering down, the dispaly goes black except for the battery icon. And it stops there. The blue backlight on the menu buttons stays on, the battery icon stays on, and eventually it turns off after 5 minutes because of being idle. Not a terrible problem I know, but a real niusance. I am running the most current firmware (have been for a while). I've tried resetting and clean-up. No change. I'm afraid of trying to reinstall the firmware, in case I have the same problem that many others are having, and go from a good player with a power issue, to a player that does nothing. I can't see it being the power switch itself, since it powers up fine, and tries to power down. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. birder

    Hello Dsgrov,
    Welcome to Creative forums!
You can get a lot of results if you search "Zen Vision M not charging" on the search box.
Here's one, you might want to check this thread.

  • Can I recover data if my phone won't power up?

So my iphone 6 accidentally went through the wash on Monday night. I immeadately tried to dry it out in a pyrex dish of rice with a heating pad covering the dish. It was in rice for 36 hours and still won't power back up. I knew it was a long shot, but it previously worked for a iphone 3s and 4g. Any suggestions on possibly recovering this hardware or how to recover the data (no icloud storage) w/o the abilty to power the device on?

Not really - that data is gone unless the phone somehow wakes up
The conventional wisdom for the rice is 5-7 days though

  • IBook G3 800mhz powers & starts up, after a shutdown it won't power up

One day my iBook G3 800mhz was working fine. I shut it down and later went to turn it on and it wouldn't do anything... no startup chime, no fans, no lights, nothing. I tried resetting PRAM, PMU, and many other things which didn't work at all.
I had a local computer store check it out and they told me the Motherboard was fried. I pretty much wrote the iBook off as DEAD. I took the battery out and it sat that way for about a month.
Today, I put the battery back in and hit the power button, and IT POWERED UP & BOOTED! I couldn't believe it. I shut it down and hit the power button again... nothing, it was "dead" again. I took the battery out and let it sit that way for about 2 hours, put the battery back in, pushed the power button and it BOOTED JUST FINE. So, I shut it down, pushed the power button and it was "dead." I took the battery out again, let it sit for an hour. This time instead of installing the battery I just connected the power adapter, pressed the power button and it BOOTED. To determine if it was the battery, I left the power adapter plugged in, shut down the iBook and pressed the power button... NOTHING, "dead" again. So, it's not the battery, it's not the power cord.
When I do get it booted, I am able to do a succesful Restart by selecting it in the Finder. Also, whenever it does power up, I am able to reset the PRAM and it will start up. Whenever I do a Shutdown (either from the Finder or by pressing the power button) it won't power up unless I disconnect the battery and power adapter and let it sit for about an hour.
I've been through all the forums and many websites and have yet to find a fix for this problem.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Hey Shim..,
Certified Apple Technician and he agreed that it is probably the transistor (what he called it) that is failing, since it's not holding Date & Time
OK but a transistor is a long way from a microprocessor. Uhh where did he get his...oh never mind.
I have read in some forums about the leaking super cap,
I'd be interested in those leads
but I haven't been able to find any photos or anything that shows where on the board this is located.
    Just put one up here, it's from a 12" G4 1.2 GHz:
    http://www.photolava.com/view/d5pr.html
They're pretty distinctive, so hard to miss.
Here's the blowed up one from the 500MHz 12" G3
    http://www.photolava.com/view/d5pu.html
    Now that's blowed up
Is this cap replaceable? Anyone know of any step-by-step guide that would show how to go about this, or know of any company that might do this sort of thing? If it's not too terribly expensive, I'd be willing to give it a try.
Well let's determine if it's bad first. Usually when these things fail it's pretty obvious.
I'd try blowing out all the chips we talked about first since I believe a tiny bit of smutz will cause a CMOS micro to crash.
It reminds me of when these early PMUs will crash and drag the battery down with it in a matter of days vs years.
One of the resets in those was to remove all power and let it sit just like you're doing here. This was called resetting the logic board and was SOP for a no startup situation.

  • I dropped my iphone 4s and now it won't power up, I dropped my iphone 4s and now it won't power up

I just dropped my phone onto asphalt from the car, about a 2.5 foot drop. The phone was wearing a case and no damage was done to the phone. the phone was off when I picked it up and will not power up. Any suggestions for how to fix this myself?

Apparently some damage to the iPhone did occur. Using a case doesn't guarantee zero damage when dropped depending on the case.
If the iPhone won't power on the normal way and the same with a reset, make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

Could you specify the model of MacBook and the OS X it's running, please? Some of the advice or references vary along with the system, so this could be helpful to formulate a reply. I've never used a Guest User selection, but do have more than one User.
If the computer does not have an optical drive, you may be able to boot it into a recovery disk mode or something; in an attempt to see what is wrong and maybe fix it.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Computer Won't Power Up

After a BIOS update that went wrong, I received my mobo a few days ago from MSI. I re-assembled my computer 4 days ago, but started having random crashes. Today I decided to test the memory. When running memtest86 the pc just powered off unexpectedly. I switched it back on again, but after a few minutes it shut off again. This time for good.
I disconnected the power cable and plugged it back in. 4 red lights on the D-bracket flashed, the PSU, CPU, Northbridge and case fans moved slightly and then all went dead. I didn't hear any beeps or other sounds. This response lasted less than a second. Same thing happens if I turn off and on the PSU's power switch. The case power switch generates no response at all.
Here is what I've tried already:
    - Cleared the CMOS - No changes
    - Striped everything, leaving only the CPU,  and then re-assembled one component at a time and powered on and off the PSU after re-assembling each component - No changes
    - Unplugged the case's power switch cable and direct contacted the 2 pins with a screw driver (to check if the problem was with the case's power switch) - No changes
    Any thoughts?

Exactly Bass, I hope that it wasn't a Windows flash...
That's exactly what it was. However, I got the pc running for 4 days after MSI solved the BIOS problem. After the power up problem I took the pc to the my local tech service and they said it won't power up because the board is dead. Everything else works OK when instaled on another board.
Blazer, I took the battery out and inserted it again but that didn't fix anything. I have no multimeter, so I couldn't test the battery. How long do these batteries last? My pc is 1 1/2 years old (running 24h a day, 7 days a week).

  • IPhone won't power on or show battery icon after discharge.

My iPhone4 ran out of battery.  I plugged as soon as I could after it ran out (within 15 mins) and charged it overnight.  It won't power on this morning and does not show the charged battery icon on the screen.  The phone is only 4.5 months old and has never been left in a car or extreme heat.  I always let the bettery run down to <10% before charging and then charge back to full capacity.   I have tried holding down the home key and the sleep/wake buttons individually and together and nothing.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help.  I had tried to connect it to the computer on my own and found out that my version of iTunes must  be too old to talk to my iPhone4.  I am still running 10.4.11 on my PowerBook G4 which uses an older version of iTunes.  I don't use the music feature on my phone to conserve my battery for Apps and other features I really like and leave the music to my Shuffle.  Guess I am really lucky it doesn't work as I would hate to loose my photos of my new grandson.  I need to find a quick way to send them to backup storage.
When I disconnected after trying the computer and tried your suggestion of holding it until I saw the symbol, it finally worked.  Guess I did not hold them both together for long enough.  The battery only shows 31% even though it was on wall charger all night.  I will use it as is today and charge it overnight again to see if it gets a full charge.

  • HT4061 My iPhone prompted me to download the latest version of iOS7. I did, and now my phone won't power on. It just shows an iTunes icon on a black screen.

My iPhone prompted me to download the latest version of iOS7. I did, and now my phone won't power on. It just shows an iTunes icon on a black screen. When I connect my phone to iTunes on my laptop, the only option it gives me is to restore my phone's factory settings. But won't this erase all my photos, contacts, etc? Any suggestions?

It's in recovery mode. You don't have a choice. You have to restore the phone. Anything that was on it is already gone.
If you've been backing up/syncing on a regular basis, you won't lose anything except what's changed since the last backup.

  • HT4528 My phone was charging and now it won't power on. Any suggestions?

I was charging my phone last night and was at 79% before I went to bed.  This morning the screen is black.  It won't power on.  I also connected it with my laptop that has itunes and it was not found.  Has anyone had this problem?  How do you fix it?

I found other posts that recommended holding the on/off power button and the home button at the same time until the Apple logo appears and disappears.  Then you can power the phone on.  This worked for me!

  • Nano won't power on, but shows up in My Computer and iTunes

I recently replaced the screen in my Nano and for about a day it worked fine. Then I opened it back up to clean off a smudge and now it's slightly less than functional.
First off before anyone asks, I use a PC, not a Mac. I run Windows XP Home Edition. And my iTunes version is 6.0.4.2.
    Now my problem...
When not connected to my computer the device is useless, it won't power on, the wheel is unresponsive, no sound comes from the headphones, it's dead.
But when I connect it to my computer it shows up in My Computer and in iTunes and all of my songs show up and I can double click them and play them, but the screen on the Nano still remains dark and the wheel still does nothing.
Another strange thing is that My Computer and iTunes will only recognize it when I turn "hold" on. If hold is off it refuses to show up at all.
I downloaded the latest iPod software and it stopped showing up at all, so I uninstalled that and reverted back to whatever version I have now. I've tried to let it charge for 24 hours, that did nothing. I formatted it and let my computer re-install it's system files and what-not, that did nothing. I've tried to reset it, nothing. And I've mashed all the buttons and circled around the wheel endlessly to no avail.
I really have no clue what might have caused this or how to fix it, if anyone has any suggestions I'm willing to try them, because at this point it can't get that much more broken.
So um, thanks for any help. If anyone actually manages to help me fix this thing and you have a PayPal account I'll toss you like $20 or something for your time, because it's cheaper than buying a new Nano.

Wow. I have no idea, I have never opened my ipod to do any do-it-yourself repairs. Of course (as you probably already know) your warranty is now voided since you opened it up and made alterations to it.
I wouldn't know where to start troubleshooting this, as I am unclear as to the cause of the issue.
