Captivate 8 Publish to Print

I'm feeling rather blind right now. Where is the Publish to Print option on the Captivate 8 Publish dialog box? We use this feature constantly to send projects for review as Handouts in Microsoft Word.

Okay - I see it. Select File > Export > Project Captions and Closed Captions... but the format is duplicative. None of my subject matter experts would understand it. Am I going to have to go into the Handouts template and make changes?

    Hello,
I am using work version 14.0.5128.5000.  I do not see any such file in the folder I am publishing to when I browse to open in Word.
Could my version of Word be an issue?

  • Publish client print queues as managed preferences?

    Hello,
I followed the documentation from Papercut NG on Mac printing, section Publishing the printer via Workgroup Manager to get the defined print queues for my client machines published as managed preferences.
I set up the print queues on the server. On the client, I configured the server print queues using the local Administrator account and printed successfully a few test pages. I then logged in with an Open Directory account with admin privileges. I then open Workgroup Manager, select a Computer Group, click Preferences, select Printing. I enable Manage Always, but the list of Available Printers remains empty, contrary to what the screenshot tells me from the referred article.
    Environment:
+ Snow Leopard Server 10.6.1 on a MacMini.
    + Snow Leopard 10.6.1 on a MacPro.
    Am I missing something?

  • XML Publisher Check Print - Voiding Duplicate Checks

XML Publisher Check Print - Voiding Duplicate Checks
I am printing checks using XML Publisher. The checks print fine but when the number of invoices for a check exceeds the length of the first page I want the subsequent copies of the check to print VOID on them. How can I do this?
    Thanks

    Ravi,
Our check print format has 3 portions
    1. Invoice numbers (TOP of the page)
    2. Vendor/Check Details (MIDDLE of the page)
    3. Currently it is Blank (BOTTOM of the page)
Currently, I'm able to print single check. but when it comes to batch invoices
I'm printing 13 invoices per page. In my case i have 32 invoices
first two pages printing blank on (MIDDLE of the page) and on last page printing check details.
Client wants to print VOID CHECK on first two pages or last two pages.
Please respond where to add logic.

  • Using BI Publisher for printing pick, pack slips, invoices and statements

We are trying to determine if we can use BI Publisher to print, fax, email, archive our primary business documents (pick, pack slips, invoices, AP checks, statements. In the past we used a 3rd party document generation product because the JD Edwards forms software delivered with EnterpriseOne did not have the functionality we needed to automate the presentation and delivery of the documents without modification to the JDE software. We need to automatically sort and split the Spool and or XML files and determine the delivery methods for the output dynamically using the data in the output file, merge with the correct form template(s) and send it to the correct printer(s), fax, email, portal. We also have 3 printers in the mail room for statements less than 8 pages, 8 to 15 pages and 16+ pages. The number of pages produced has to be sorted before it is sent to the printer because of the envelop inserter attached to the printers. Can this be done with the free version of BI Publisher? If not what does the paid version of BI Publisher cost? Does the paid version provide this functionality?

    Hi user953712,
    1. Check format should use fixed row enumeration matched to the number of remittance lines per stub setup on the Payment Document in EBS.
    2. "not using word columns"? I'd be using a table in Word. Is this a text based format? If so consider ETEXT.
"should go into a different file"? Sounds like bursting or some other mechanism.

  • Flash version detection with Captivate published files?

Doe sanyone know if the Captivate publishes their HTML file
that includes a flash detector of the user's system when they first
attempt to activate a piece of Cpativate content.?
I have a customer who wants to know how (most automatic )
method to have their Captivate contnet viewers systmes checked for
the approriate Flash player and feedback message to alert them tof
the need and how to download.

    Hi jonturkle
I'm going to crawl way out here on this shaky little limb and
say that this is factored into the mix. I say that because I
recently saw a post where someone needed to output Captivate in
Flash 6 format. Captivate 3 outputs in Flash 7 format as a minimum.
They were saying that when they attempted to run the Captivate
files, the users were being prompted to install a newer version of
    the Flash player.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Publishing In "Print" Mode Creates Squished Images In Word

I am trying to convert my captivate slides into a pdf that I can print and handout using the  "Print" function within "Publish". When I open the Microsoft Word file that it generates the images are squished and I am unable to adjust them. Is there an alternative way to publish my slides to a pdf or is there a way to edit the output settings so the images aren't squished? Thanks in advance for any help!

You are using the Handouts option? Don't check 'Table', is a little bit better. But print output has not been updated since many versions. Personally I mostly create my own handouts, using Snagit.

  • Captivate Certificate Widget - Printing Problems.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? It's not a problem in Captivate, per say, but it's Captivate related.
    First some vital facts:
    OS: Mac OS X 10.6.4
    Captivate 5
    Flash: CS4
    Flash Player: 10.1.53.64
    Browser: Firefox
I have a customized Captivate Certificate Widget (AS3) from Captivate 4 that works perfectly. When one clicks the "Print Button", the print dialog box comes up and when one checks the print preview option, one sees the certificate ready to be sent to the printer.
Fantastic. Now I want to save this Flash file as a new file and I want to change a textbox on the certificate that is no connected to the ActionScript at all. When I publish this new file, the Print button no longer works. Can anyone explain this?
I have, in fact taken a look at the new Captivate 5 Certificate Widget. I published it out and it's print button doesn't work either! I took both my swfs into XP and opened them and they both worked fine in Firefox and IE.
After further examining both Flash files for the CP4 Certificate Widget and the CP5 Certificate Widget, I keep noticing that an error is traced to the output window when publishing the files. The error appears after pressing the Print button and then canceling the print. The error that I'm getting is:
TypeError: Error #2007: Parameter child must be non-null.
       at flash.display::DisplayObjectContainer/removeChild()
       at CertificateWidget_fla::MainTimeline/ClickPrint()
    I've managed to point the problem to line 207: this.removeChild(sheets);
    Is this causing the problem?
If anyone could help, that would be great. I don't want to tell my client that the certificate that was working, now doesn't work for no apparent reason.

I use Cap 4 for testing. You put a name field in the first slide, then the certificate widget will fill in the name, date, and score.  You get a print or e-mail field at the bottom of the certificate.
I used Internet sources to find out how to do some things, but the Adobe free online webinars taught me most of it.

There are five or six more on Captivate on this page...scroll down. After the upcoming sessions, there are dozens of recorded session (one about adding quizzes in Captivate 5). As far as making the certificate work in Cap 5, I've read a lot of suggestions, but couldn't make them work.

  • Captivate published Swf to open an external PDF file

    Hi all,
I need help to open an external PDF file from the swf file.
I used this previously. But realised that I can only open the pdf file from the published html file but not the swf file.
    function onClick() {
    window.open("mypdf.pdf");
    onClick();
Can anyone tell me what is wrong as i am not very good with javascript.
    Thanks.

Lilybiri is correct that you should be able to use the Open URL or File action.
But I also just tested your JS code on my own PC here in Captivate (triggered by a button set to Execute Javascript) and it worked fine.
If you are testing this locally on your PC hard drive, have you made sure that the publish folder location is set up as a trusted location in your Flash Global Security settings?  It might not be working for that reason.
You can also try uploading your SWF and PDF file to a web server and testing from there.  Flash Global Security doesn't tend to bother content from a web server.

  • Publisher - PDF - Printing Issues

    Hi -
I am using MS Publisher then converting to pdf. My client is taking the pdf to her printer but the document is printing with a white border which is uneven. Is there any way to prevent this border or to "bleed" all the way to the edge of the document? What settings do I need to make sure it prints without this border??
Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Lisa (Acrobat newbie)

You probably need to make a margin adjustment in MS Publisher. There may also be an option to expand the PDF to fit the paper in the printer selection.

  • Publish to Print Step-by-Step not capturing images

Does anyone have any suggestions for publishing to a step-by-step guide in Captivate 5 that is usable and looks as good as those from Captivate 4?
When I publish in Captivate 4, icon images are created wherever a highlight box appears in my Captivate source file.  The icons are of the image underneath the highlight box.  These make all the difference in generating a usable step-by-step guide.
HOWEVER, when I publish in Captivate 5, all I get is an icon image of the highlight box itself (without even any transparency applied).
By the way, this happens for Captivate 5 on both Windows XP and Mac OSX platforms.
Here are some screen shots, so that you can better understand what I am trying to describe.
    From Captivate 5 (BAD)
    From Captivate 4 (GOOD)

    No !
I did recieve a message from an Adobe developer to try a work-around for Captivate 5 on the Mac, but that didn't work for either my Mac or Windows XP (Word 2007).  You may want to try it, and report back if you have any success.
The workaround is to set the stroke to 0 and background color to 0% transparency for each highlight box and then export as a step-by-step.
Adobe said they were able to reproduce the problem and would address it in an upcoming patch, but that was months ago.
This and other document exports have been a problem on the Mac since C5 went live.  It has been very detremental to my workflow and productivity as a whole.  I have to export on Windows, then capture and paste each icon manually into the step-by-step.  On the Mac there is no hope. Very frustrating to say the least!
I've used  lots of Adobe's pro products for well over 10 years and have always been an advocate, but not so much anymore, at least where Captivate 5  is concerned. Sorry to dis Adobe, but the turn-around to fix this major disfunction has been absurd.

  • Captivate - Publishing - AMT Subsystem Error

I receive the following error when I attempt to publish from a trial version of Captivate 7.
My organization recently purchased licenses for several eLearning products (Captivate, Presenter, Connect, along with a connect cloud server). In order to gauge interest we are asked to use the trial version and if we find value then we can request a license.
I have installed Captivate 7. I have created a simulation. I cannot publish the project. I attempted to publish it an Adobe connect server. Upon attempting to publish to a connect server I received the above message.I uninstalled Captivate, Media Encoder, and the other items Captivate installed along with itself.
I re-installed the program and was able to publish to a local folder, but when I attempted to publish to a connect server and received the error. I then published to a Windows executable successfully. I attempted to publish both to a connect server and locally and I receive the error.
I cannot open Adobe Media Encoder without receiving the error.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
    I am using Windows 7 pro sp1 64-bit.

    Hi,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums!
Adobe media Encoder is actually a complementary application which gets installed with several application as a component, this iincludes Captivate. hence, if you have other application installed as well whose Trial has expired. it would mean the Adobe media Encoder would have have got out of the trial mode.
Can you list all the Adobe applications that are installed. May be we need to uninstall one of them and then re-install Captivate so that Adobe media Encoder is installed as a Captivate's component.
    Thanks,
    Anjaneai
