    can i convert from flash (swf) or raw files in captivate to
    wmv???
    tnx in advance

    There isn't - to my knowledge - any way of playing a WMV in flash, and this has nothing to do with the streaming server.  If you buy the streaming server, you still can't use WMV.  Its not built in to the player.
    WMV is owned by Microsoft, and would need to be licensed ($$) to be included in any plug-ins not also owned by Microsoft.
    H.264 (the standard of online video) is open, and usable without cost.  Not only can you play any H.264 content with the flashPlayer, you can also play it with Silverlight, and Quicktime.

  • Button in captivate to click wmv url to open in windows media player streaming windows xp

    Hello,
    I'm trying to insert a link to a button in one of the slides in captivate 7 (www.blahblahblah.com/filename.wmv). When user clicks on the button, the video opens as streaming video in windows media player.
    This works in Windows 7 and IE 8 or 9. It is not working for Windows XP and IE 8. when the user clicks on the button, instead of streaming, it downloads the video from url.
    Half of our company employees still are on windows xp and I am trying to troubleshoot it. Please let me know if you need more information.
    Please advise...Thanks, John

    Don't launch the WMV file directly from the link.
    You need to get your HTM file to point to a .WVX file that then launches the WMV file.
    Google for information on the Microsoft website about launching WMV files correctly.

  • Control embedded WMV using Captivate 5

    Does anyone know how to create a CP5 button using the "execute javascript" action that can pause/stop or play an embedded WMV? I am using a webpage widget created by our wonderful Jim Leichliter.

    So, I finally figured out how to do it. And here is the code for anyone who is trying to do the same.
    First thing first when you are exporting captivate file to flash it creates a "com" folder, you will need that folder to access the rdSoundHandler.
    And then simply use the following code to play/pause the swf. This code will not work for swf file created in flash.
    This is the answer to problem I found, if anyone find a better way then please keep posted.
    import flash.net.URLRequest;
    import flash.display.Loader;
    import com.adobe.captivate.flash.rdSoundHandler;
    var ldr:Loader=new Loader();
    addChild(ldr);
    ldr.load(new URLRequest("externalCaptivate.swf"));
    playp.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,playF);
    pausep.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,pauseF);
    function playF(e:Event){
    MovieClip(ldr.content).rdcmndResume = 1;
    function pauseF(e:Event){
    MovieClip(ldr.content).rdcmndPause = 1;

  • Working with video files in Captivate

    We have recorded a short video that we want to insert as an
    animation in to Captivate. We've saved the wmv file using
    Moviemaker as an avi file, but Captivate doesn't like it. A message
    pops up to say "This avi file cannot be converted to swf". Any tips
    on how to get a simple video in to Captivate?

    Usually when audio is heard but the video is unseen, it's a
    codec issue.
    What codec are you using for the AVI creation? I'd think it
    is having
    issues being converted to SWF. Try exporting the AVI with a
    different codec.
    Generally, I would stay away from trying to load .avi files
    into CP
    directly (as you've experienced).
    Converting to FLV would be the next best thing (if not
    better) to a SWF
    conversion. Don't worry about the streaming - if there's no
    FLV (FMS)
    server, the movie will still play. However, if you're having
    sync
    issues, that also seems likely to be a conversion issue -
    mostly related
    to the codec (?). Perhaps try a different conversion tool -
    the one
    you're using seems to be...flaky.
    Related to SteveC's reply, I find conversion from QT to FLV
    to be the
    smoothest, so if you can output to QT (.mov), you may have
    better luck.
    If you can't export the original movie to QT, try MPEG or
    MPEG2.

    How to publish to video format avi , wmv , mov or mpg ?

    Hello there,
    You can publish as MP4 from Captivate and then use any video converters to convert from MP4 to whatever format you need. But, as Lilybiri mentioned, there won't be any interactivity in the videos.
    Thanks,

  • F4v flv videos in Captivate 5

    I use Captivate 5 and am creating a session with slides and attached audio files for each slide. I am wanting to insert a video onto one of the slides in Captivate ( I already imported the slides and audio). I converted the video from wmv format to f4v using Adobe Media Converter. I imported the m4v using the appropriate menu option in Captivate. When I publish, the Captivate session will play fine on my PC. I can get to the slide containing the video and it plays as it should when I click the play button on the skin.
    However, when I upload the course (which contains an html page with a link to the Captivate session) to our LMS (Saba), and launch the Captivate session, it functions correctly, except for the video. I get to the slide containing the video, the video area of the slide is blank and nothing happens when I click the play button on the skin.
    Why would this play fine on my PC and not on the LMS? I read something about the f4v or flv file needing metadata. Is that the problem? If so, how do I get the metadata into the f4v.
    The documentation on this from Adobe is scant at best, and not real clear. Some of the documentation is circular and not real helpful.
    I’d appreciate any help ASAP.

    I have been having the same problem of getting videos to play within my Captivate 5 slides. I am loading a F4V video file as a "Progressive Video Download". We have a network drive which serves as a development web server. If I load the SWF using local mapped drives, then the video file will load within the Captivate file. Example:
    Z:\TestSite\userdocs\LMS\World_of_Choices_test3.htm
    But if I try to access this same file thru a web address, the video file does not load. Example:
    http://nationalforensics.spintest.com/userdocs/LMS/World_of_Choices_test3.htm
    In both instances, the SWF file, and associated video files, are in the same directory on the same physical computer. It feels like there is an issue with how Captivate resolves the location of the video file. Like it uses a full path to reference the video file (with the "Z" mapped drive), which would bomb when the file is pulled thru a web server (2nd address below). Is there a way to tell Captivate to look in the same directory as the SWF file to load associated video files?
    Does anyone have any thoughts on this, or possible thoughts on what we may be doing incorrectly to get the video files to play on a web site? If you need more information, please let me know.
    Thanks!
    Randy

  • External Attachment (pdf,doc,wmv)

    Hi,
    Presently working a project which need videos to be linked in
    captivate .As these videos are large in size (eg:90 MB) so would
    like create a link which when clicked would open that video in
    default window media player.
    Can some one please assist me on how this can be done .I dont
    want to embed the videos but instead would like it to play on a
    windows default media player.I will be publishing this project on a
    CD.
    I can open these videos and pdf on my computer where i create
    the ..CP file with its resp s/w, but when i burn it on to a cd or a
    dvd it does not open any attachments at all.(pdf, wmv ,doc).
    Thanking you.
    Kind Regards
    Prashu

    Hi Prashu
    I suspect that where Andrew lives, he is probably still
    tucked in bed.
    You need to edit the object you are clicking to open the PDF
    or video. When you do, look closely at where you typed the file
    name. To the right of that area you should see a button with a down
    arrow on it. Click this button and you should see different
    options. One is labeled "New". Choose the New option and the link
    destination will open in a new window. This should solve your first
    issue. Click the button a second time and you should notice another
    option. It was there before, but was in a disabled state until you
    chose the New option. This one is labeled "Continue Playing
    Project". DE-select that and your second issue should be solved.

  • Linking video files with Adobe Captivate

    Hi good people
    I am preparing a video for Youtube and I have two components. The first is a video of me talking to the camera in MOD format (which can be changed to a WMV file by changing the extension - this does not seem to affect the playing of the video).
    The second is a screen capture made with the trial version of Captivate 5 which demonstrates how to use certain functions on my website.
    What I need to do is to join the two files together in a format that I can then upload to Youtube in a single movie, but I cannot find any way of converting one of the files to the other format or importing both into a separate program altogether so the end result can be exported in a format that Youtube will understand.
    I am using Windows XP.
    Any suggestions would be very gratefully received.
    Thanks
    Will

  • Importing QuickTime, WMV, and MPG movies

    Is it possible to import QuickTime, WMV, or MPG movies into

    Hi again
    I've personally not encountered a need for converting.
    However, on her blog, Silke Fleischer (Former Adobe Captivate

    It's called SoThink Video Converter and you may examine or order it

  • Adding an Adobe Captivate 4 file with external links to Moodle

    Hi - Does anyone know how to upload an adobe captivate 4 file so external links within the published adobe cp file open when playing in moodle?   I have attached a wmv video that does not open.  Also I have attached a swf Raptivity file that does not open.
    Thanks, Sandra

    The wvx file is only really a small text file containing something like this code:
    <ASX VERSION="3.0">
    <ENTRY>
      <REF HREF="myvideo.wmv" />
    </ENTRY>
    </ASX>
    It seems to just make Windows Media Player happier when loading  wmv file for some reason.  I had to resort to using this file at one client site running an IIS web server. You point your link in Captivate at the wvx file, which then loads the video.  The wvx file can have quite a lot of other code inside it to do fancy stuff.  But that's not essential.
    If your question is now answered, please mark it at the top.

  • What Adobe Captivate need's in it's the next update

    I trying to publish my video to youyube.com. But when i try
    publish it in captivate it can only publish it in 100 .swf files. I
    tried converting the 100 .swf files into different video formats,
    with multiple software, but thay can't convert it.
    I try google searching for answers but there was none. I was
    trying to covert the 100 ,swf files into any other video format,
    then use Windows Movie Maker, to edit the video, but i can't, cause
    theres no software that can convert .swf files. I know Captivate
    can publish my project into .flv, but thats only if i have a Adobe
    Acrobat Connect Pro server.
    Adobe must update Captivate to include the following:
    1) Be able to have the option to make just one .swf file
    instead of 100 .swf files
    2) Be able to publish your project into the following
    formats: FLV, AVI, WMV, PowerPoint, MP4, 3GP, MPG, MOV, DivX, and
    OGG.
    3) Be able to have the option to make just one or multiple
    files of any format in update 2).
    4) Be able to publish the file(s) in the formats of update
    2), not just to your Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro server, but also to
    your computer, e-mail, and FTP.

  • SWF from Captivate in other video editors

    I have published some Captivate 2.0 movies to .swfs and they
    work fine and run in my browser just fine. However, another group
    needs them converted to a video format to put into another project.
    No problem, I say, since we have Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0
    which lists .swf as an import file format and .wmv and/or mpeg as
    an export file format.
    The problem is that when I bring the Captivate swfs into PE
    it sees them as 1 second/x# of frames. I can download a random swf
    from the Internet and PE reads it just fine, XXXseconds/XXX# of
    frames.
    I have tried tinkering with just about every setting in
    Captivate and still can't get it to work. I've also tried just a
    swf to .avi converted which worked fine, the .avi plays just fine,
    but when I bring that .avi into an editor like PE it's one second
    long again.
    Help!

    I can't believe I didn't notice before that Captivate can't
    output to a
    movie format.
    I'd download a trial version of Camtasia, open the SWF you
    created with
    Captivate, and use Camtasia to record it - then output to
    AVI.
    I think many conversion utilities expect Flash documents to
    be 'linear'.
    Captivate has movie clips in movie clips and is not a linear
    file...so
    these conversion utilities get confused.
    Essentially, I think you'll need to record the original SWFs
    playback
    with some other software then publish as a movie. There are
    lots of SWF
    to AVI conversion utilities out there but I dunno how well
    any will work
    with Captivate-generated SWFs.

  • Captivate 6 Created from PowerPoint - flicker issue

    I am using Adobe Captivate 6.0.1.240, and my employer (State of Idaho) is working out the details with Adobe of paying for subscription service to the eLearning Suite.
    However, right now I am finishing a project that was imported from PowerPoint 2010, and I have the flicker happening at the beginnings of any slides with animation.
    I understand that a patch is available for subscription customers that would fix this issue and bring my version to Captivate 6.1.0.319.
    Is there any way that I can get a fix to this problem in advance?
    Having the users click “next” on each slide is not a good solution in this course. I really want the users to have the TOC available (which they will not if I have to import my audio to PPT and save it as a .wmv). And I will be hard-pressed to recreate the project in Captivate before the go-live date.
    I have to say that the only reason this was created in PowerPoint to begin with is that we anticipated delivering it live via webinar and a last-minute decision has me converting it to eLearning.
