CApture Perfect and Canon 300 II

Can anyone help me with these issues?  We are a small historical society and use a Canon Microfilm Scanner 300 II. I have seen on Canon's website a table that implies that the latest Capture Perfect software to work with the 300 II is patch v1063 and that the 300 II is apparently not supported above Windows 7. Can anyone confirm: If the 300 II is not support beyond Windows 7? If patch v1063 is the latest Capture Perfect software to work with the 300 II? Can anyone tell me if they know of a table showing all the versions of Capture Perfect and what OS they run under?  I am trying to install the v1063 patch to our capture perfect software. This appeared to work fine but when I try a scan to page I get "No devices found." I also get "Cant locate SCSI device; check cable and power.(-4536). I am using a USB port not SCSI. In the control panel under devices and printers I see under Unspecified an entry for Canon USB adapter for MS with a triangle and an exclamation point in the triangle. When I perform the Troubleshoot function the system determines the Canon USB adapter for MS is not installed but when I click apply the fix it cannot find the driver. Can someone help me with this and explain how to install this driver? Thanks,Kurt

  • Tethered Capture issue, LR 5 and Canon 7D Mk II

When I connect the camera and start TC I get the connect message and then a no camera detected, flashing back and forth about once a second -- regularly.  LR/ACR is up to date and reads and downloads the files fine.  Same thing on 2 computers.  Wonder if I have a bad connection in the camera.  Wiggling the connector doesn't make any difference.  And it hasn't been abused.
    Anyone else seen this?

    Tethered camera support in Lightroom
The above link will provide details of the present camera models that are supported for tethered capture.
The Canon 7D Mk 11 is not yet supported. Canon need to provide the appropriate documentation to enable Adobe to finalize the support.

  • Time capture for syncing up Nikon and Canon formats?

Is there a way to set Photoshop CS3 to sync up a Nikon/Mac and Canon/PC systems photos taken same day, same event time? I am wasting lots of time trying to edit things together.  I realize this is probably a dumb question.  Any help appreciated.

    Edit: Resolved the problem
What did the trick for me was that
    1. I removed Bonjour from my Windows machine entirely.
    2. I rebooted Windows (ignore the failures of the Tine Capsule Agent at bootup)
    3. Install Bonjour 1.0.104 from Apple (http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/bonjourforwindows.html) and tick the box to add a desktop shortcut for Bonjour Printer Wizard
    4. Create a printer entry by using this wizard
    5. Print away
I also had downloaded & installed the newest Canon drivers on my Windows Machine (v2.0) that are only available from their American support website (or atleast not on the European one) (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDet ailTabAct&fcategoryid=357&modelid=11641)
Tested & working on both my MacBook Pro and Windows XP SP3:
    - Printing of text
    - Dublex printing
    - Pictures with picture enchancements (Vivid Photo, etc.)
What doesn't work is the color notifications and all responses.
    I haven't tried CD-labelprint yet.
What seems to be the problem is that when you create a printer port in Windows using it's own tools it'll default to the port being in LPR-mode and Time Capsule / Airport Extreme will only accept incoming data in RAW -mode over port 9100. Also the airport wizard uses the Bonjour local name for the Time Capsule (timecapsule.local) instead of an IP-address. Don't know if the name/ip difference has anything to do with the problem thou.
    Hope this report helps,

  • Can't capture HDV with Canon Legria hv40

    Hi,
I'm having this very irritating problem - when I try to capture HDV(25) footage with Premiere Pro CS6 the program:
    recognizes the camera
    has control over camera navigation
doesn't show preview in the capture window
says it's capturing, but only captures audio from the camera (in mp3)
I'm using FireWire and all the Premiere/camera settings are set to HDV.
I can't figure out what the problem might be here.
    Any help greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

I originally had this problem with a  #trial version of CS5.5 and it did exactly what you describe, (incidentally Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 11 @ $75 USD, captures perfectly) ,but, on going to full version and upgrade to CS5.5.2 it has been working perfectly for the last 18 months. (It won't help you but, HDV Canon Capture in Premiere Pro 1.5.1. and that is 5+years old was/is very efficient)
And later as well, just double check New Sequence > Presets > HDV 1080i 25 (50) or other .
Click on Preset Descriptions it will show what it is doing.
    Good luck
#Ps. This occurred in a downloaded trial version (Adobe may not have included the HDV/mpeg-2 codec or it may have been corrupted), but, there is no problem here on 2 x i7 64 bit computers running the program from disc.

  • What is a good video converter for iMac?  Premiere 6 will not capture from the Canon VIXIA HF G20.

What is a good video converter for iMac?  Premiere 6 will not capture from the Canon VIXIA HF G20.

Rather than convert, you'd be better off capturing with a more current version of the program -- one that supports AVCHD video. Otherwise, you're in for a lot of headache. A converter isn't going to solve your problems.
BTW, when you say Premiere 6, do you mean Premiere 6 -- which is over 10 years old? (There was no Premiere Elements 6.)
Trust me on this: Capture with a Mac version of Premiere Elements 11 or 12 and your video will be perfectly compatible with any Mac program.

  • FCE capture from my Canon XHA1 captures as one long clip

I've never had this problem capture using FCE before. I'm capturing from a Canon XHA1 and it's capturing the video as one long clip rather than the many short clips I shot. And unlike when you capture DV, you can't use the "DV start/stop Detect option" when the footage is HD..so that's not a solution.
I'm using a new Macbook pro and was wondering if that has anything to do with it given that i"m using the newest OSX as well.
Any ideas? It appeared to do the same thing when I captured into iMovie.
Or or is there a setting on the camera that I've failed to change?

    Dear Phojo1,
I also have a XHA1 and am experiencing the same problem. I was wondering if you shot your footage in HD, and what are your settings on your camera for recording and outputting. The first footage I captured I used hd with 1440x 1080 apple intermediate with 29.97 rate. I had no problem. It captured each clip separately. Now I can only capture with dv/ntsc settings. I'm am trying to see where the problem is. By the way this started happening when I upgraded to 4.01. It also does the same in imovie. Thanks for any information.

  • What are the settings for capturing video from Canon HV20

    Hi All,
I want to capture video from Canon HV20 with Premiere Elements 11. What kind of settings should I use to capture the video with full information?
    Here is what I did:
    1) According the manual, I went to Capture settings panel (Edit > Project Settings > Capture) and selected HDV as capture format, because my video is at high definition.
    2) In addition, I checked "Capture to Timeline" and "Split Scenes by cotent".
    Are these settings enough?
    Thanks.

Sounds reasonable, using Add Media/HDV Camcorder, but....
Have you reviewed the Adobe write up on Premiere Elements 11 DV and HDV capture firewire into it.
    http://help.adobe.com/fr_FR/premiereelements/using/WS5CDA0F91-60F1-4b79-ABF6-E9E75F498DB2. html#WS2AF26FB5-4C63-4c46-9DB3-7249558F6528
The mention of Get Media instead of Add Media makes me wonder if the video's instructor was demo'ing from Premiere Elements 10, but...
Major factors have always included having Premiere Elements project preset set correctly to correspond to your camera settings...For HDV data capture firewire...
NTSC HDV HDV 1080p30 or PAL HDV HDV 1080p25 depending on if you are targeting a NTSC or PAL area where frame rates are typically a consideration.
I had not done any DV or HDV data capture firewire into Premiere Elements. But, Premiere Elements 11's take over of the project preset setting would encourage me to encourage you to verify your project settings before the capture.
There are probably many more, but the following is online discussion of one Canon HV20 issue
    http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/316970-video-capture-problems-HV20-camcorder-is-control led-but-no-video-capture
If you experience difficulty with the HDV capture fireware into Premiere Elements 11, you might consider what some others have done in this regard, that is, use HDVSplit for the capture firewire and then import the split (.m2t) clips "Add Media" into Premiere Elements 11 with the appropriate HDV HDV 1080p (1440 x 1080 HD anamorphic 16:9) project preset.
Please update us on your progress when you get a chance.
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Canon printer problem!!

Use Photoshop CS6 to edit and print (try to print) to a new Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer.  Photoshop is up to date and the Mac runs OS 10.8.5 - Canon printer driver is current at ver. 11.7.1.
When I print from Photoshop to the Pro-100 (let's say a 4X6 landscape snapshot to 4X6 borderless paper) the printer starts up and moves the paper out about 4 inches and then prints the
first two inches of the image, stops and ejects the paper!.  I've tried different versions of printer the printer driver and made sure every things is up to date.  However, I can print from MS Word,
Nikon Capture NX2, or Canon's own Print Studio Pro and it works fine.  Canon is no help because if it works OK with their Print Studio Pro then it's not their issue - I tend to agree with them.
The same thing happens print from Photoshop to 5X7 or 8X10 paper - it gets ejected so far and then only prints part of the image.  I've searched the Internet and posted in Forums but can't find
where any one would have the same problem.  What I'm hoping for here is someone at from Adobe who's knows Photoshop tech stuff will post here with suggestion because there is no more
phone support for Photoshop CS6.  I'd like to really keep this printer and get Photoshop to work with it but if I can't I'm going to offer it up free to a good home!  JM Davis

Thanks for your answer, indeed this fixed the problem. Quite stupid I did not see this myself

  • Syncing video shot from ipad and Canon HF M41

I just noticed a problem with my video files.
I'm trying to combine video from different cameras, the main ones being a Canon Hf M41, a Canon HV20 (these two line up perfectly), and my iPad. The problem is that the iPad video is just a hair slower than the Canon cameras. When trying to line everything, up the first few minutes are fine, then a slight echo becomes noticeable, and it slowly gets worse and worse.
I also recorded audio using an Apogee Duet into Pro Tools which lines up great with the Canon units' audio. Why is the iPad different and how can I fix it?
    Thanks - Tom ZZZ

    Thanks for the response, Jakob.
I just checked my iPhone and iPad frame rates in iPhoto. I shot two videos on each my iPad and iPhone, same times, a little different position, and this is the result.
Video one on my iPhone was shot at 24.76 fps, 1.8GB in size, and on my iPad at 25.11 and 3.1 GB.
Video 2 was shot on my iPhone at 24.66 and 802MB in size. My iPad says 24.01 for the same scene.
With the Canon units I'm shooting in Cinema mode, full manual.

  • Capture Sharpen (and other questions)?

I have been a very big advocate of capture sharpening for fine art workflow for more than a few years now (landscape fine art gallery enlargements). I was under the impression that in ACR (7.1) by using the Radius to the left (0.5) and Detail to the right (100) I was maximizing the deconvolution aspect of sharpening and maybe even drawing out a hair more real detail from the raw file.
Today I did a test on a high frequency raw image (trees) and had my settings at Amount 45, Radius 0.5, Detail 0, and masking at 20. But then I also did it on the same image, this way: I brought a second version of the raw file into PS with no capture sharpening, and saved it as a tiff, then I brought that tiff back into ACR 7.1 and then did the capture sharpening. In Photoshop CS6 I put them on top of each other as layers (one raw sharpened and one tiff sharpened) and at all viewing distances they were exactly the same to my eye (I did notice that the histograms of each were very, very slightly different).
But I could not see a single pixel or edge change anywhere in the image even at 1600% viewing distance. This seems to blow away my impression about deconvolution sharpening actually drawing out more real detail from a raw file. I totally understand that sharpening is not real detail, but on this forum years ago I came to believe that somehow a bit more real detail might be accessed in raw by the aforementioned settings. Any thoughts?
Second question: do you really think there is a quantitative quality difference in detail (or the illusion of) in an image that has capture sharpening applied in ACR (7.1) at its native size, then is enlarged substantially with further rounds of sharpening and grain simulation in the end (versus just sizing it up soft and doing all the sharpening at the end)?  I did testing on this years ago and it seemed to be noticably better overall. I guess I'm just second guessing it again.
My basic workflow is capture sharpen Radius 05. / Detail 100, then upsize with Smoother (40, 50, 60, 70 inches...) then do some moderate high pass, then advanced use of unsharp mask (LAB - L channel - or Luminosity - RGB - also blending/blend if sliders for fall off if necessary) then ACR grain simulation (on a seperate layer - not to create grainy photos - but create the illusion of more detail and to camouflage artifacting).  I believe after years of testing and practice this seems to be about as good as it gets for my content.
Lastly, smart sharpen... I have not used this much, but do you think this workflow might benefit from using it instead of USM (with the more deconvolution - lens blur/more accurate) type of sharpen near the end)?
Side note: for those involved with focus bracketing (for increased depth of field with the sharpest f/stop) it is common knowledge that capture sharpening at the raw stage (before the Auto Align and Auto Blend in PS) confuses the auto blend algorithm as to what are the real sharper pixels. So, we don't capture sharpen those images (this is common practice).
And after blending the images (Auto Blend) we usually just size up (for enlargement) and go.  Now I am thinking that after the focus blending is finished and the file is flattened it might be a good idea to bring that tif file back into ACR and apply a little bit of capture sharpening before the upsize. Does that make sense to you?
Cheers for your time and feedback!

With low ISO shots (100) I always try to use the least noise reduction possible in ACR (less is more approach) which means on correctly exposed images ("to the right") on Canon cameras, my ACR settings are often 0 on luminance and 0-5 on color noise.
At ISO 100, I rarely use any luminance noise reduction, however my experience is that even under ideal circumstances including low ISO, a modicum of color noise reduction is still essential for optimum image quality. - it is almost never desirable to set color noise reduction to zero, IMO - YMMV. (Note: in NX2 - you don't even get a choice about it - (true) color noise reduction will be applied, as Nikon sees fit).
Note: ACR's color noise reduction algorithm is image adaptive (it's more "aggressive" on higher ISO shots). You shouldn't see much (if any real) detail loss with color noise reduction at 25 on ISO 100 shots, eh?

My theory is that I am trying to keep a much of the fine detail as possible. Also the reason I like the 0.5 radius and 100 detail.
In my opinion, ideally, the sharpen settings should depend on the photo - type, and inherent focus... (.5/100 may be great for ultra-clean, ultra-sharp landscapes, but may not be appropriate for portraits...)
But different strokes for different folks. (and I don't know what kinds of photos you mainly (or only) shoot).

  • Capture sharpening and  radius setting?

While I am getting better at sharpening per the Fraser-Schewe approach, I certainly still have a lot to learn.
I understand that landscape shots should usually have a radius in the range of 0.5 to 0.8 for capture sharpening (source + content) in ACR.
What are the most important factors to consider in selecting a radius in this range for capture sharpening of landscape shots? I don't think this topic was really addressed in the Real World Camera Raw - CS3 book.
Yes, I will continue to experiment on my own, but some guidance would be most useful.
BTW, my raw captures average 6MB (Canon Powershot S60, small sensor) and for landscape capture sharpening in ACR I am using radius=0.7, amount=60, detail=40.

Joseph one advantage of ACR over other RAW converters is the visual feedback, at least with a fairly fast computer. I would advice to practice more and not to rely on recommended settings. These are a good starting points to shorten the practice period but image content can be more important than blanket statements like "settings for landscapes".
Leaves were mentioned above so let me give an example. A desert shot will qualify as landscape but so will a golf course with grass and various foliage. Green foliage can give strange sharpening effects and often requires very different settings than say red sand and sandstone.
In some cases selective sharpening of selected image areas may be required for best results. Not necessarily as a start but perhaps worth the trouble for "best shot".

  • Matching video sources: Panasonic DVX 100 and Canon G10

I am trying to match digital video captured on mini-DV from a Panasonic DVX100 with video captured on a Canon G10 digital camera. The G10 footage is a good quality, but looks noticably different, the clips do not blend well. Has anyone tried something like this before, or have any suggestions?

A lot can be accomplished in the 3Way to get what you want, in fact, I would advise you against using Color for this, unless you know it and unless you're looking to establish an image baseline and have Color render new media. Time should have been taken to match the DVX100 to the G10 beforehand on chart like a DSCLabs Chrome du Monde or at least with a Macbeth Color checker.
Find similar shots from each camera, place a marker at each spot. Toggle back and forth between the markers, observe your scopes (the vectorscope, waveform and RGB Parade - ignore the histogram as it's fairly worthless) as they will tell you what to do.
    Manipulate away.
Don't know how to read your scopes? There's a section in the manual that quickly gives the highlights of this great skill to know.
If you get in a bind, send me a couple of .tiffs from similar shots of each camera and I'll get you started.

  • Best workflow for Canon 7D (progressive) and Canon HX-A1s (interlaced)

I have been doing 2 shot interviews using the Canon 7D and Canon HX-A1s. What is the highest quality and most efficient workflow in 29.27 fps with the 7D being progressive and the XH-A1s is interlaced? I have been converting the 7D footage to ProRes 422 (HQ).
What Capture Preset is best for HX-A1s and Sequence Preset for radiating?
Your help would be most appreciated.

If you have the space, capture as ProRes....you can do that via firewire. If you are short, then capture as HDV and just work with it with a green render bar over the footage, and render later. Mixing formats is pretty easy as long as your sequence settings are ProRes.
And your interlaced camera will take on a progressive look. If you are OK with that.

  • Canon 300/4 + (1.4 Conv.)

Hello! Does anybody have a profile for the Canon 300/4 or this lens together with the 1.4 Conv.? Would be also very interested in a profile for a Sigma 18-50 /F3,5-5,6DC. Thank you! Ralph

You dont have to go to those extremes if you know what to look for.
I have an easier solution that worked. Try it and let us know. This way you dont have to uninstall Premiere.
    1. Uninstalled Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 Third Party Content through add/remove.
    2. Ran setup from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS4\Setup\setup.exe
Once installed again it was all there.
