Car use:  dock output vs. headphone jack

I use my iPod extensively in my car - - through a cassette adapter, with sound from the headphone jack.
Am considering purchasing the Belkin Auto Kit for iPod w/ Dock Connector (dual charger plus sound from the dock port area). Would doing this - - and getting sound from the 'bottom' of the iPod - - provide significantly better sound than from the headphone jack?
Thanks.

so i have my ipod plugged into the back (aux) portion of my deck, this cord feeds though and i plug my in my ipod through the headphone jack (only distortion comes at very high volumes). i have it set up this way so that i can use the ipod itself to select a song. now for the question: do they make a product that allows me to plug my ipod into my deck but use the conection at the bottom of the ipod and still use the ipod to select the music (thus getting charged while playing music without the use of the headphone jack)?
I hope this wasnt to jumbled.
(i had an actual ipod adapter and although the quality is good, attempting to actual select the specific song you want to hear is the biggest pain in the butt EVER, mainly b/c you must use your eck to select the song, the only way to listen to it is on a playlist, otherwise you might crash)
thanks

  • Droid Razr Maxx- No output from headphone jack

I've got a Motorola Droid Razr Maxx phone which I'm very happy with. Only thing I just noticed is that when I plug in extrenal speakers or wired headphones, there is no ouput from the jack. Internal phone speaker is still on with wired device plugged in. Bluetooth works fine, but I've got an external speaker I'd like to use for music that isn't bluetooth capable. I've looked at the sound setting on the phone, but can't find anything for this issue. If anyone has an idea on how to fix this I'd appreciate it.

No as I said before in the post.  I still dont believe I abused the first one, and I am not going to take the risk of having to pay 350.oo for the second one.
The only reason i took to the forums is to let others know of the service i received.  First individual I talked to told be to go buy one from someone else.
The 2 hours I spent with your customer service reps  both placed a request for a supervisor to call me.  Its monday I have not heard from anyone.
Just have very little trust or patience with Verizon anymore.
And I haven't mentioned the ebill I received from Verizon for 429.00 for October that NO ONE at verizon can explain.
    Just bad service, Period.

  • No audio output from headphone jack?

I have no audio coming out of headphone jack on my 60 GB 'pod. Its songs will play normally through itunes but output from stereo jack is kaput. What gives?

Now this is an area that I am not familiar with.  I do not know what your audio source is (microphone, DVD player?) and exactly what you are trying to achieve.  You may have to use the Audio MIDI application so look at that to see what it entails.
I suggest that you start a new discussion listing your specific objectives.  There are fellow users well versed in this area, I am not.

  • Can you use a 1/4 headphone jack on a mac book pro?

    Hi,
I have a pair of Audio Technica ATHM50RD Pro DJ Headphones. I was using them today with my 2010 Mac Book pro and the normal sized headphone jack broke off in my headphone jack port thingy. I have consequently done a lot of research and had decided to order http://www.amazon.com/Syba-SD-CM-UAUD-Adapter-C-Media-Chipset/dp/B001MSS6CS/ref= cm_cd_al_qh_dp_t and get my headphones replaced because they are under warranty but then I remembered that another headphone jack had come with the headphones. I subsequently found this larger jack which I think is a 1/4 jack thingy that screws on top of my regular broken jack. I was wondering if rather than having to replace my headphones and computer plug in thing if there is some usb thing I can use to plug my 1/4 jack into my computer. If this is not a possibilty my other question is will the Syba device work if I buy and use my less nice headphones with it? Thanks in advance.

  • Can i use any other branded headphone jack other than Apple jack ?

My doubt is that , will there be any defects caused to any apple product if use any other banded 2.5mm jack other than apple? If so ma i know what can be those defects or mal-functionings..? Pls help me because the apple jack is not serving me to listen to music when i go for jogging, it does not have good grip and hence it falls off my ears. Kindly help me with this issue.

I do not really understand what you are saying, if you could, specify. The standard jack is 3.5 mm by the way, and it should be 3.5 mm on your iPhone. Any device bought from Apple, including third party devices (Meaning from other producers, eg. Sony, Bose, etc) should work fine. You are not limited to using included EarPods. If you mean that you wish to take apart the device and replace the headphone jack built into the iPhone, I strongly recommend you not to, as it will void the warranty, and has an extremely likely chance to damage your iPhone.

You are referring to Target Display mode. Target Display mode can only be used in 27-inch iMacs and iMacs with Thunderbolt, not MacBooks Pro > http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11302

  • Cleaning Lint/Dust/Dirt From the Docking Port, Headphone Jack, Mic & Spkr

Does anyone know if you spray canned air (Dust Off) into the docking port, headphone jack, mic & speaker ports, if the air will blow the lint/dust/dirt deep into the phone or possibly under the screen where you can't get it back out?

i just use a toothpick and dig it out. the dock port and headphone jack are fairly closed off so the chance of pushing the lint / gunk in deeper is pretty low. so far no issues

  • Noise through MBP Headphone Jack

When I boost the gain through an outboard audio interface (Digidesign 003), the headphone jack seems to be outputting a bit of noise. The noise changes as the MBP is processes (sounds like the noise fluctuates with the hard drive movement).
    Is this normal?

    Is this normal?
I'm curious - 'boost the gain' - do you mean the input gain on one of the mic preamps? 'headphone jack' - do you mean the headphone jack on the Mac?
Do you have a reason to use the Mac's headphone jack while using the Digi 003?

  • Connect 5G to stereo - headphone jack vs. line out

Is it better to connect my iPod to my home stereo using the 3.5mm headphone jack or buying the Apple Dock and using the 3.5mm "line out" (assuming either would go into the "AUX" RCA inputs on my stereo)?
I have read that the "line out" from the Dock isn't a true line out since the click wheel still controls the volume.
Using the headphone jack, as I am now, I have to have the iPod volume up all the way and my stereo up quite high to get adequate volume. Would this still be the case using the Dock?

You get loads better sound with the dock althought you can control it with the clickwheel. Using the headphone jack limits your sound to a small amount while having a line out and connecting it to speakers lets you able to turn your music up as loud as you want. Also has better sound.

  • Headphone Jack Fi

Firstly, everyone knows that the headphone jack is a very fragile part of the zen micro. mine broke after just over a month. i got it RMA'd and now i have a new silver micro. it all works fine so im happy with that and im also pleased with the turnover time of the RMA system. eventhough i shouldnt have to do it in the first place if creative manufactured their product properly! i was wonderin if anyone has come with a way of protecting the headphone jack so it doesnt happen to theirs. if i could find someway of protecting it, it will be a big weight of my mind because im always consious that when im using my micro the headphone jack could break at any moment if a put any force on it by accident.
    Any advice appreciated
    cheers

I might have a solution for you (that may also void the warranty)...
I can't say that it has (or has not) worked, only because I haven't witnessed any problems with it since I did conduct the preventati've maintenence, but I've owned a Zen Xtra 40GB for over a year now, and when I read about the headphone jack going out on that player, I freaked and grabbed some super glue! As my companion for just about any fix, I've found super glue to be extremely helpful for little things like this..
What I did with the Zen Xtra, and what I just now did with my Zen Micro, was use some liquid super glue (the gel form is too thick) and applied a very small dab of it around the perimeter of the headphone jack. If you're a plumber you'll know what I mean when I compare the results to soldering a copper joint: the super glue spaces evenly around the jack, leaving absolutely no room for movement when it dries.
No taking the players apart to do this I'll have you know! So far so good for the Zen Xtra; I've never witnessed it going out, and I'm pretty confident that it won't any time soon.. that, I believe, is the beauty behind super glue.
God bless the creators of it!
    Hope this helps,
    Zoinbergs
Also as Zoidburgs (I think he watches Futurama) stated the super glue works but I think the hot glue works better. It lets it move a little more so the whole thing can have a little give. And if you need to RMA it you can pukk the hot glue out. And super glue can ruin the player if you touch the super glue and then touch the player. ~Derek

  • Use the headphone jack output and bluetooth at the same time

I am going to buy a blue-tooth headset for my 3GS.
Am I able to use the blue tooth mic and the headphone plug on the 3GS in the phone conversation?
Message was edited by: Winson Ip

Now I listen the music with the Ipod through headphone amplifier for better sound quality. The amplifier is plug into the dock port. I have to buy a bluetooth headset come with the 3.5mm jack. I want the sound output still from the headphone jack or line-out. The bluetooth headset work like a cordless mic. Also, the headphone amplifier still getting work.

  • Ipod to car with AUX port using dock or HP jack is quiet

    hi all,
ive got an aux connector in my car and connecting it to the ipod headphone port OR using the dock line out gives very quiet sound, i end up having the car hifi very loud.
id rather not use volume adjust in itunes to raise the file volumes as its fine to use out the car as it is.
do the car adaptor kits have amplifiers to get round this or am i looking at an expensive way to mount and charge the ipod but still get quiet sound?
    cheers! Ads

    Bozz,
Are you certain about the volume using the dock connection? I currently have a 3.5 cable going from my headphone jack into the aux in my stereo. I have maxed the volume on my ipod, but I find that the sound is not as good as when I have the volume at 1/2 on my ipod. I don't want to spend the money on a dock connector if I can't get good volume.

  • Headphone jack broken, using dock connector instead?

So after dropping my iPod the other day the headphone jack is acting a little funky, I have to twist and fiddle with the headphones a little bit to get the sound to play in both ears nicely (It's not the headphones as I've tried with several pairs).
Since my warranty has expired I was hoping to use a dock connector I believe its called then connected to my headphones.
    My questions are
    1) Will this avoid the sound issue I'm having since I ASSUME it's an issue with just the headphone jack.
2)I'm looking at these two products
    http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-35508-iPod-Compatible-Connector/dp/B000J022G6
    http://www.yourusbcable.com/product/Ipod%20Dock%20Connector
which will then need another thing to connect to my headphones, can anyone think of a better way of or product for doing this?

I am also having problems with my headphone jack. if i can get best buy to validate my 2 yr warranty i can exchange, but in the meantime i ordered some bluetooth headphones. i bought these: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/595037-REG/SonyDRBT100CX_BLU_DR_BT100CX_Bluetooth_WirelessStereo.html

  • Dual use audio output HDMI and Headphone Jack on MacMini 2010

I am trying to use both the digital HDMI and analog headphone jack at the same time. My indoor home theater system use the HDMI and my outdoor amp and speakers are linked to the analog headphone jack.
Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to get both to work simultaneously like I had on my AppleTV. I was actually using the toslink and the HDMI on the ATV.
Anyone have any luck getting both outputs to feed at the same time, maybe by 3rd party software, on the Mac Mini 2010
