Case damage

Hi i just dropped my MacBook Pro and damaged the shell of it slightly ... its nothing major and so far has not effected anything else.
If i took it to apple would they be able to replace the the shell? I would like to get it fixed. i have insurace too, just wondering what the best way to go around it?
Thanks
Will

"i have insurace too..."
If you mean that you have extended AppleCare service, AppleCare does not cover accidental damage. If you mean you have homeowner's insurance, it might cover a portion of the repair. But, if you file a claim, your future premiums are likely to go up.

  • Can magnets in a iphone4 leather case damage the phone?

I bought a Capdase leather case for my iphone4, after i found out that it uses a magnetic flap closure, I kinda worry about that magnet will damange my shiny iphone for things like the speaker, the built-in compass, the Gyroscope and many other delicate IC components.
So my question is does magnet in a iphone case damage the phone or affect the use of the phone like phone signal and etc.?

Thanks alot Malcolm, and base on your information, can I infer that using a case with magnet will not do permanent damage to my iphone4? it will only cause some temporary interference at most?

would a leather magnetic flip case damage my Iphone???

Here's the leather magnetic case I use.

I've been using it with my Droid X from July 15th, 2010, (launch day) right up until the time I upgraded to my Razr Maxx HD on October 24th, 2012 with absolutely no ill effects on either phone.  The Droid X was carried daily for just shy of 2-1/2 years and my new Maxx HD for almost 3 weeks. I've been using the same holder everyday.   I think it's safe to say you should be good if you use a case with a magnetic latch even with an iPhone.
The only thing I had on my "X" was a screen protector but my Maxx HD has been naked since day one.
    Go for it!!!!

  • Can a magnet flip case damage my phone.

  • New MBP case "damage"

My new MBP 13" (~3 weeks old) has case damage.  On the bottom of the case in the front (underneath near the sleep indicator light) where there is a seam and screws, part of that "seam" is bulging.  Should I be worried about this worsening?  Is there anything I can do as far as a repair/replacement for something that seems so minor?

That is the location of the HD,  so not battery bulge however,
I would take it to an Apple Retail Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider  (AASP) for evaluation, or call your nearest Apple Contact Center. Visit the Genius Bar at the Apple Retail Store,  make a reservation.

  • Can a magnectic field of a carrying case damage the 5th gen iPod?

    Hello all,
I have just bought my 5th gen iPod and, at the same store, I also bought a leather case. When I opened the case, I realised that the leather case cover is closed by two magnectic pins.
I am afraid that the magnectic pins can damage the iPod. Should I be concerned or not? I assuming that there should not be a problem given that the case was specifically designed for iPod use, but I just want to make sure.
    THANKS!!!
    Roger

Thanks for your reply. I fell better that someone has used magnet cases without any harm to the i-pod. However, I would like to hear more testimonials just to be sure.

  • MacBook Pro's alu case damaged - What to do?

    Hello everybody.
It's my first post here. I signed up because I need some information on what to do when the MBP's case is damaged.
Yesterday, I had a bike accident and my MacBook Pro got hurt more than I did. Now I don't know what to do: the lower case (the screen is fine..it's only the upper left part above the left speaker which has a dent) is damaged.
The dent is on the side of the case just above the magnetic power plug. Now.. this dent caused the other side of the case to get pushed out and the whole left side of the case (where the speaker is) to get pushed up slightly, which makes it difficult to close the screen.
Enough explanations. What to do with a MBP that has a damaged case? Where to repair it? How much will it cost? Please help me. I don't want my baby to suffer :P

I had a similar issue.......when your looking at the magsafe connection on mine, to the left of it, just under the case screw I took a dent from accidently bumping the thing on a desk.
Don't even bother to call apple for a quote. The price is mind boggling. If its not messing up the computer......just let it be.

  • Accidental case damage

Well ive been reading other discussions on this subject, but mine is slightly different, i dropped my MBP
on the left corner and damaged the case. it works fine but the lid doesnt close exactly tight anymore. Its still under warranty till august but its only a limited warranty. Anyway anybody know where i can get it fixed besides apple?

    Hi elad,
You've posted this thread in the wrong forum, but I think it's safe to say that you will not be able to get it repaired under warranty - but I suspect you already knew that.
You have a few options available to you. If you wish to have any chance of retaining your warranty, you will have to either send it to AppleCare or an Apple-authorized service provider, and be charged for parts and labour. They will give your Mac a once over to ensure that it's running fine. Should problems crop up in the future within the remaining warranty period, they will assess if the problem is related to the drop sustained, before agreeing to repair your Mac under warranty.
Alternatively, you can purchase after-market parts e.g. from ifixit, and have any computer technician to carry out the repairs for you - if they agree to it.

  • IPhone 3G Back Case Damaged or Scratched

Hi Just wanted to post this particular topic to see if anyone know's any info on this.
If you have a damaged back case or scratched or if your girlfriend decided to scratch her name into the back of of your iphone 3g.
Can you send your iphone back to apple for a complete new back replacement?
And if so has anyone done so how much does it cost to replace?

Apple would replace the entire phone rather than just the back for a fee. There are third party companies that sell parts and if you're not worried about voiding the warranty, you may be able to replace the back yourself.

  • Iphone 6 case damaged

I recently purchased the leather iphone 6 case from the apple online store (the week the iphone 6 came out). The case cost me $60. However, the case is damaged. It has marks all over the case (maybe from rubbing against other items). I would have expected the expensive case to last longer. Can I get a refund for the case? I am not happy with this product.

This case is made from natural aniline leather. Its appearance will change as you use it.

  • BEWARE SPECK SEETHRU CASES DAMAGE YOUR MACBOOK PRO

Okay guys don't buy this case it wrecks your macbook, I had it on my mac for about a week and I took it off earlier today August 26, 2010 and when I opened and closed the lid of the mac there was a snapping noise I've went onto other forums and people had the same problem as me, does anybody know how to fix this? If so PLEASE HELP this machine costed 2500 dollars I don't wanna have a broken 2500 machine....

It could be the black plastic casing that covers the hinge. On old powerbooks the casing was aluminium and screwed into place, but on these unibody macs the cover for the hinge is just snap in place plastic and can easily be moved out of position - if it's not in the centre of the hinge, the plastic can make this snapping sound.
It's the black plastic directly under where it says 'macbook pro', extending around the hinge to the back of the machine. On the back, you should be able to get a finger nail under one end and you can push it back into the centre. Otherwise with the screen upright use something that isn't sharp or metal, that you can use to slide the casing back.
The only damage issues I've heard with these sorts of cases is to do with trapped dust that ends up rubbing against the metallic coating.

  • Bloodborne- Online pre-order case damaged

My pre-order copy of Bloodborne was just received and the case is broken. It looks like when the packaging was opened by the warehouse, the box cutter was put in too deep. The plastic, paper and game case are all cut into.
For someone who collects and displays game cases, this is disheartening. It leaves a big ugly scar on the display.

    Greetings ShaunRossi,
With receiving your pre-ordered copy of Bloodborne, I'm sure you had an expectation of the case's condition upon receiving it, especially as a collector. I am truly sorry to hear that the copy you received may have had a damaged case.
Sadly, I wasn't able to locate your pre-order using the information registered with the forum, so I am sending you a private message to gather more info. You may check your private messages once signed into the forum by clicking the envelope icon in the top right corner of the page.

  • Will the magnet on this case damage my iPhone 4s?

this is the case and you see where the magnet is.. will tha be safe for the phone??
    Caitlin :-)

There is no image or link, so no way of telling what case you are referring to. As long as the magnet is not coming into direct contact with the phone (i.e. covered with some sort of material), which could scratch it, you should be fine.

I also had this problem with all of my lightning cables, but did not realized it was simply dust in my iPhone port. I used a paper twist tie to remove gently the dust, and voilà, the port works fine now.

So I bought the iPhone 6 product red leather case when I got my iPhone, and after a couple months of use it looks pretty bad. Ultimately I'd like to get it replaced for a black one, does anyone know if that's possible or what my options are?
