Casting by pointer in the cvi itself

1. Is it possible to perform casting in the cvi by using only the pointer (void*) of a struct (container) which was created in teststand?
I've been trying to perform casting by using cvi's memcpy function, by all I've menaged to do is to change the first variable of the container, I just can't find
the location of the other struct variables
2. if casting isn't possible in the cvi (in the manner described at q.1) is it possible in the teststand itself?
let say I've got an array filled with data and I want to transfer it into container by using pointers (I don't know the container content), can it be done?

Hi Zohar,
You should be able to pass an array from TestStand to CVI. Here are three links to othr forum threads that talk about a few different ways an array can be passed.

How do I disable a button up to a certain point on the timeline?

I have a series of buttons on the screen.
Is there anyway to have the buttons displayed for the whole length of the timeline, but disabled up until a certain point on the slide.
For example I want to disable the NEXT button for 4 secs, preventing the user clicking on it up to that point.
Right now, I hide the button for 4 sec - but this is not very elegant.
Any suggestions greatfully received !!

Hi there
In addition to what Lieve described, I'll also advise of how I managed to do this.
Create an image of the button in a disabled state. That provides a nice visual cue that the button is disabled. Then insert the image in the same screen location as the button. On the timeline, present the image for the time the button is disabled. Then configure the image to disappear and at the same point have the button itself appear.
Worked a treat for my project.

The pointer will automatically put itself

When I'm on a new page on the internet, the pointer will automatically put itself in the beginning in the little search window that many sites have which means when I want to go down on the page, I can't.
I need to click somewhere on the page, nothing in particular, to release the pointer. This is very annoying since it happens every time I click on a new page.
How can I disable this ?

Re #2 - try pressing Command-. (that's Command-periodkey). That's a common global in Apple OS's to tell a program to 'stop it'. The Esc key may also work for this purpose.
Re #1 - haven't experienced that issue. You might try going to Safari's Preferences (Preferences in the Safari menu) > Advanced and uncheck the item "Press Tab to highlight each item on a webpage", but I don't know if that will fix it.

Is there ANY way possible to MANUALLY restore factory settings for an ipod classic, FROM the device ITSELF (as opposed to restoring from iTunes or forcing a reformat elsewhere)?

I have 3 iPods: 1 Touch and 2 Classics. The Touch and 1 of the Classics are both working fine; the other Classic is not showing up in iTunes, My Computer, or in Device Manager. While I CAN do a simple reset, it accomplishes nothing, and I am UNABLE to get the faulty Classic into "disk mode".
Based on what I've encountered thus far, I have a suspicion that my faulty Classic somehow thinks it's formatted for the Mac, as I DO see the serial # and I do NOT see "Windows Format" in the About screen on the ipod itself. Is that even POSSIBLE? I have never used a Mac, but that's what the documentation I've read on this Support Site have lead me to believe.
The faulty Classic will charge ONLY in a wall charger; it clearly wants nothing to do with my laptop as it refuses to stand up and be recognized in iTunes or in My Computer....why??!!?? I DID try all of the other obvious troubleshooting items; I tried different USB ports, different cords, different laptops, and even different ipods.....BUT....all is well with everything else BUT for this pain-in-the-@$$ ipod.
IDEALLY.....since my ipod refuses to make itself available for me to "restore factory settings" via iTunes, the way it SHOULD be handled....., I'm wondering if there are any hackers out here that know of a way to FORCE a MANUAL restoration of factory settings of the ipod, via super-secret "key strokes" on the ipod itself (and not via the iTunes software that is curently useless for this particular ipod)....?

There is no way to restore/reformat the device without connecting it to a PC or Mac.
Have you checked the iPod's dock connector for signs of bent/damaged/corroded pins that could prevent a full connection with your PC? If there is any lodged debris, take a can of compressed air to it to blow it all out.

V CAST Media Manager is the worst piece of crap software I've ever used...

I mean, who wrote this thing? Sorting is f*d up, uploading files is a freaking nightmare, so much scrolling around because you current view is not cached when you click to a different area...
This thing is total junk.
So I started using it yesterday. Selected a bunch of albums that I wanted to upload to my online area. Was logged in there and everything, so I think I'm cool. Since there's no menu option to know for certain that I want to upload, I'm left to only the drag and drop option and hope that it is the correct action...
I say hope because nothing is instantaneous. It sits there and spins, no obvious visual activity (i.e. a progress bar showing how much has been loaded, how many files are left to load, estimated time to completion, etc.).
Since I'm loading a bunch of albums, I figure it's going to take awhile and I just walk away from the computer. This morning, though, most of my files are not there. I find the transfer logs only to find the obvious messages of "Failed to load file xxx". Yeah, that helps me diagnose whether it is my problem or verizon's problem...
So of the ones that loaded (like 9 songs out of 90), I see they're mostly from one album. Well, now I have to pick the songs that didn't transfer in order to get them put up. Album has a total of 12 songs... So I can't remember the 9, so I start playing w/ the sorting in order to help me remember... Well sort from the full music list is only ever on one column, and appears to randomize after that (i.e. I picked sort local media by album, but the songs are not ordered in any specific way after that); Tried clicking on song title, then album hoping that after the primary album sort the tracks would sort by title, but no... Meanwhile I finally get to the point where I'm just looking at the album itself by folding down the list on the left. What a mistake. The list is of album names, of which I've got hundreds. Now I'm scrolling down to find the online guy to click it to see what songs are there, then scrolling to find the album (which happens to be up near the top). By the time I get there I'm so **bleep** off about the crappy interface that I'm back to scrolling again...
The only thing the application is: flashy. Sure, there's lots of red black and white. After that it's worthless...
I mean, what's wrong with the multiple document format? One window for local, one window for online, etc. I mean, that way I could compare/contrast the two... Or even a side by side view w/ the arrow buttons in between so the transfer option is obvious. And the sorting? Surely the primary and secondary sorting identification is nothing new (in case you don't know it, when the user picks a new column to sort on, their current column and sorting direction become the secondary sort option).
Anyways, I think I'm going to have to dump the whole online option. If this tool is the only thing I can use to sync music w/o plugging in, then I'll just plug in and use windows media player. At least that tool works...

TOTAL AGREEMENT. Except calling this *** software "crap" is being far too polite.This is an HTC Incredible attempting to connect to WIndows 7 64-bit.
All I want to do is transfer audio files to my phone. I don't care about storing anything on line.
1. Since the phone wouldn't simply mount in Windows Explorer the way my Droid does, I am forced to install software I do not want.
2. After installing the Vcrap software, the phone mounts in Windows Explorer as CDROM J: which cannot be opened. When I launch Vcrap the phone appears within Vcrap as Phone K: and phone L:.
3. When I attempt transferring files to phone K: (since there is no option to transfer the files to the drive letter J: that the phone is apparently using) the transfers fail.
4. In an attempt to test the phone when I attempt transferring any media files from the phone, the transfers fail.
5. When I navigate within the Vcrap application to "How to connect to your phone" a blank screen appears. So far, the blank screen is the most honest part of the Vcrap software. It really doesn't have a clue.
At this point I am faced with calling tech support, no doubt waiting on hold along with other poor suckers stuck with this issue and then being connected to someone in India who speaks poor english - yet another communication problem. Why is it that companies that present themselves as being communication specialists SEVERELY SUCK at communication?
Let's face it: Verizon feels that sticking you with an $80 a month bill isn't ripping you off enough. Now they want to get you to purchase media from them. I've already got 30 gigs of my favorite music on my hard drive that I'd like to listen to from my phone. I don't want to buy any new music. it's pretty much crap (just like this software) anyway.
The reason I did NOT want an iPhone is solely because of iTunes, another *** software application (although it works) that takes over your PC's media collection and forces you to do things you don't want to do.
The Motorola Driod I have works perfectly: it mounts when connected; I drag and drop my media files and the media player of my choice recognizes the files and plays them. Brilliant. Too bad Verizon's greed is keeping me from a smooth user experience such as that. This lousy experience will influence my future decisions in phone carriers and the type of phone I purchase. I cannot BELIEVE that this is what Google had in mind with they launched the Android OS for phones.

Crystal Reports - Charts - Restricting the data points on the X-axis

Hi,
Is there a way to restrict the number of points to display on the x-axis of a crystal chart keeping the number of data points the same.
For example, if the chart plots date vs value points and the data for the chart is from 1980 to 2009. This means the data points on the x-axis appear very close to each other.
I need a way to show the chart with all data from 1980 to 2009 but limited x-axis labels. Is there a way to configure the number of labels to show on the x-axis.

"Right click on one of the x axis labels and select Group (X) Axis Options...
On the Layout tab there is an option to Skip Group Labels, check this and enter in the number of labels you want to skip". Is there a way to do this from a .NET client or via a formula field in Crystal itself. The data points is going to be dynamic, hence the requirement is to dynamically configure the "number of labels" to be skipped.

Even simpler than that.
Clicking once in a text box selects it.
Clicking once in a selected text box places the insertion point in the box.
The clicks do not need to be close enough in time to be read as a double click.
The same behaviour applies to table cells in Pages and in Numbers.

The mouse pointer seems to change randomly from the usual pointer to the I-beam pointer, finger pointer, column resize pointer, arrow up pointer, etc. without any reference to function.

I actually don't care other than the fact that it isn't the way it should operate and everything else seems to behave. However, the I-beam pointer is hard to see and can disappear. It seems to happen mostly in Safari and then carry over to other applications. Anyone else see this happen?

The program you gave me was great, so simple, yet so effective....yet I still have a problem. The problem is that my interface has a giant TAB inside with lots controls. So I need it to be an arrow when it is in the tab but not on the other controls. I tried manipulating you program and used an if condition inside the event case that if the control reference of the event case is the same as the control reference of the tab then remain an arrow. That works for other controls outside the tab and and the tab itself but it doesn't work with controls inside the tab...... I have attached your vi, just changed a little to see what i am saying. I am pretty sure there must be a way around it so i am trying it out now, but if you know something already that might help, that'll be great

4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Thank you for your reply. Sorry to bug you again but can I ask some further questions? Pls excuse my lack of knowledge on these things.
In relation to your points:
1) In the ftp publishing settings, public_html is acutal in where it says "site name", where it says "URL" I have http://www.gippmed.com. I was advised to put public_html in "site name" from my hosting. If I put anything else it publishes the entire site to a folder with that name on the server and is not viewable online?
2) I have removed the spaces in the album page name and will reupload soon. In relation to the image file names, am I correct in saying that iweb is naming them from the captions? Do you really have to use one word captions or use underscores, it looks a little odd? I have read troubleshooting articles about iweb and spaces and it also recommends similar as you are, suggesting that all page names should have underscore instead of spaces. Problem is, if for example I change the page name "About Me" to "About_Me" iweb automatically changes it in the navigation menu and this looks silly to have undescores in the Nav Menu. Is there a way around this?
Lastly, a new problem that I have never had before:
Previously, iweb would remember what I had published and only publish new site changes. Now, every time I turn my computer off and on, I open iweb and it doesn't recognise any of the previous publishing, ie it republishes the entire site.

How do I get the rotate tool to default locate the pivot point in the exact center of an object or group of objects?

My new copy of CC has the default pivot point set to one side, rather than the center. I know I can manually move the pivot point around, but this is not always exact. Is there a way to have AI determine the exact center and then make this the default?

4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you may find the folder here:

If you cannot close the Pen Tool by switching to another tool, as a temporary measure you may try pressing P (for Pen).

Setting White/Black Points using the Tone Curve

I'm trying to set white/black points using the tone curve, but when I try to slide either of the end points of the line in the tone curve tool I can't get them to move. Could those be locked somehow...?

That's what it is supposed to do. Without the sliders, you are working with the curve itself. Now you have direct control of the curve, and can drag any part of it. Have you considered setting your white and black points using the whites and blacks in the basic panel while holding down the alt/opt key? I suppose the reason it says point curve is because that icon is what you used to switch to the point curve.

How can I find a turning point or inflection point on the curve?

I have encountered a problem, is seeking a turning point or inflection point on the curve.
The curve is monotonically increasing (slope is essentially the same); the slope tends to 0 after the turning point. Because of the curve is not actually a straight line, so the derivative of point by point seems comparison difficult.
First, I intercepted two new curves from the curve. One with monotonically increasing slope and another with remained constant slope. And I transform the two new curves to two absolutely straight with “regression” filter. Then find the intersection point of two absolutely straight. Through the X coordinate of the intersection point to find the corresponding Y value on the curve.Turning point is (x, y).
However, this method can only be used for a fixed curve. Because the range of the intercept values need to give the range, if the new changes in the overall length of the curve, the value of this range may no longer apply.
My question is: Is there a better way, or Diadem functions associated itself can solve this problem?
Any of your ideas and suggestions is important to me, thanks very much.

I would recommend the following generic approach, based on the pictures you submitted:
1) Create a smoothed channel from the raw data curve to remove random variations
2) Calculate a derivative/slope channel from the smoothed channel
3) Use the ChnFind() function to find the points where...
       the slope is close to zero
        the slope is positive
        the raw data is positive
        the raw data is close to the maximum channel value

My IPhone rebooted or reset itself after trying to update, now it shows the USB cord pointing to the ITunes symbol. How do I synic it? What do I do?

Connect it to iTunes and upgrade or restore it.
