Catalog Priority

Hi All,
* I have a drop down in my home page header, which have values say A, B,C , when the user selects A, i have to load different catalog and B a different catalog and C different catalog.
So i will once change of the drop down values, will call a formhandler and assign catalog1 to the current user, and if he selects B i will assign Catalog2 to current profile. is this approach good or should i do it in request pipeline.??? or what is a better approach.
*What is the priority or the catalog to be displayed in the site. There is a catalog property in userProfile, Site , which will be picked up finally to be displayed in the site???
Regards

So i will once change of the drop down values, will call a formhandler and assign catalog1 to the current user, and if he selects B i will assign Catalog2 to current profile. is this approach good or should i do it in request pipeline.??? or what is a better approach.ATG already has ProfilePropertyServlet in the request handling pipeline. It uses an implementation for the ProfilePropertySetter and there are some OOB ProfilePropertySetter implementation provided including CatalogProfilePropertySetter which is used to assign a catalog to the profile. You may extend that and customize CatalogProfilePropertySetter as per your requirement.
*What is the priority or the catalog to be displayed in the site. There is a catalog property in userProfile, Site , which will be picked up finally to be displayed in the site???It is decided by the useProfile boolean property of /atg/commerce/util/ContextValueRetriever. CatalogProfilePropertySetter calls the CatalogTools.determineCatalog() method which invokes the ContextValueRetriever component. Now if ContextValueRetriever's useProfile property is false (the default), then in case of multisite environment it uses the value of the defaultCatalog property of the siteConfiguration item for the current site otherwise in case of non-multisite it uses the value of the defaultCatalog property of the CatalogTools. And in case ContextValueRetriever’s useProfile is true, it retrieves the requested property from the profile.

Hope it helps.

  • Portal menu priority effects catalog return screen

    Hi Everyone,
We are implementing SRM 7 and Portal. We've copied/amended the ESS role slightly and created a new Home menu with UWL and a bespoke help guide etc.
When we now go into the catalog and add an item to the basket, the return screen is whatever the first screen in the Home menu is e.g. UWL as opposed to the Shopping Cart iview.
We've looked at notes covering the _Parent and _top configuration in the backend and we're up to date with those but this appears to be something different as the Page container for the Shop changes to the page of the first menu item.
We can recopy the SAP role/workset but this does not allow us to set the custom Home page as the first menu item.
Has anyone come across this before and has a fix?
    thanks
    Rob

  • What happens when there is a conflict between develop settings stored in file metadata, and the catalog?

    Hello,
Wondering if someone could quickly help me with understanding how develop settings are read back into lightroom... (I'm using lightroom 3.6) as I've just had a bit of a panic that my mis-understanding of the system might have screwed things up a bit!
As I do all my image tinkering on a laptop with a small disk, I am often archiving directories of images to an old server we have, and then just bringing them back onto my laptop whenever I need them again. I have a single lightroom catalog on my laptop, and I thought (I now think wrongly!) that all my develop settings updates were stored solely in the lightroom catalog on my laptop, and as long as I kept a copy of the original jpeg images knocking around somewhere so that I could restore them to my laptop when needed, that I could always get back to the most recently edited version of my images. Often I copied a directory of images from the server to the laptop, edited them with lightroom, then deleted the jpg files from the laptop thinking the originals left on the server would be sufficient to restore my work later.
However recently just before deleting a batch of jpgs from the laptop, I did a quick compare with the server and was horrified to realise that the files where different, and that changes *are* written to the jpeg files! Looking in lightroom I have the 'Include Develop settings in metadata inside JPEG [etc] files' turned on.
    My questions would be:
1 - Have I lost work by effectively deleting the metadata from the jpeg files or is it also preserved in the catalog?
2 - What would happen if some develop settings for an image were stored in the catalog, and a completely different set of develop settings were stored in the file - which would take priority?
    3 - Have I screwed up and if so is there anything I can do to minimise the damage? : {
    Many thanks for any advice!!
    Nicola

    1. Lightroom ALWAYS stores the edits in its catalog file.
    2. Lightroom ALWAYS uses the edits in its catalog file. The information stored in the JPG is NEVER used to display the image in Lightroom.
    3. As long as you don't eliminate the photo from the catalog, you are fine, your edits are present in the catalog file and Lightroom will use those to display the image.

If you have moved the photos to the server, using Lightroom (or using Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders), there's no need to bring them back to your laptop. You can leave the photos on the server, and access them on the server, and everything works properly

    Hi,
I don't want to remove totally, what i am asking is there any
    Possibility to do users/groups wise,
    E.x:
    Work around home page
Setting home page each users/groups wise . I am expecting like that option to
    Do open and catalog link.
Home link not a priority .

  • Is Lightroom expected to take hours to complete "Import from Catalog" or is something wrong?

Im trying to import a catalog with about 2500 images into a "master catalog" with about 1500 images. It has taken hours for it to complete checking duplicate and then do the import after that. I restarted and now it is working "checking for changed duplicate photos".
Is this meant to be atrociously slow or am I missing something?

Evidently this is designed to be attrociously slow...  I can't think of any good reason why we would see this result otherwise.  It's not like this is exactly a new issue with LR5.4...  Realistically, this is probably a fairly low priority item for the development team in comparison, say... to the develop module image processing performance.
On a system that, practially speaking, has no effective resource bottlenecks: 2013 Mac Pro with disk that averages 850+MB/s read and write, 64 GB or RAM, 24 CPU cores, and a whole lot of OpenGL/CL GPU available, This is still going to take HOURS...
LR 5.4 is "checking for changed duplicate photos" between two 137K photo catalogs (~2.8 GB each) where I expect there to be approximately >90% duplicates.
I am seeing negligible disk I/O and it appears that LR is constrained to a single thread on a single CPU core for the entire scan/compare loop across the catalog data.

Sampling the process via Mac OS Activity Monitor, the call graph shows that the "AsyncDataServer" thread is processing the majority of the workload during the "cheking for changed duplicate photos" phase of the catalog import.
Considering this appears to be a single thread attempting to process all of the catalog data iteratively, it would be my primary suspect to consider for more love and attention towards parallelization of this code, perhaps via OpenCL on the GPU if each comparison is discrete and meets the various criteria for efficient GPU processing, otherwise, at least refactor for multi-threaded execeution on the CPU(s)...

  • High priority bug to be solved very  urgent

    Hello Experts,

    Here is the problem:
There is  report called "Material Group".When its is displayed for  material gorup say "GB06010000" is displayed as part of report data wheras the source system (oracle ) does not have this item any more in the catalog. This indicated that data is not refreshed for quite a long time.
This report is connected to the third party application (oracle db) not EBP system(r/3). Time to time there has been deletion  or addition  catalog items and in all as of today there are 815 items, whereas BIW report displays 4204 items. How can i refresh this data to display 815 items.
how to solve this issue any ideas or suggestion????
the reports is on ODS level.

  • Change sales order delivery priority in CIF

Block the transfer of sales order line delivery priorities values (ECC/R3 field LPRIO) transferred from ECC thru the CIF.
Hard code and assign a value of 1 to the APO delivery priority field (APO field LIFPRIO) upon transfer of sales order line items.
To change prirority I used user exit APOCF010 but it didn't work properly so can anyone let me know which user exit or badi will help me to change the priority.

    Raghav
When you say APOCF010 is not working correctly, what is the exact problem you are facing ? In which table are you looking ? Have you tried CIF'ing a new sales orders from ECC to APO ?
Also try adding LPRIO to the field catalog (SPRO --> Advanced Planning and Optimization --> Global
Available-to-Promise --> Rules-Based Availability Check --> Define Condition Table (Maintain Field Catalog).

  • Option to Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog not available (LR5, PSE 12, Win 8)

Hi there. I have trial versions of both Photoshop Elements 12 and Lightroom 5.2 (trial licenses are both still active (i.e. not expired)). I'm looking to import my PSE12 catalog into Lightroom before I plunk down the money to buy it.
I cannot, however, locate the "File->Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog" option in LR5.
I may have originally installed LR 5 before installing PSE 12. So I uninstalled LR5 and reinstalled it. Still no luck - the option isn't there.
Any other ways to force LR5 to look for the PSE 12 catalog? Will LR5 even recognize a PSE12 catalog?
Your help is greatly appreciated - thanks!
    Note: Using Win 8.1

...But we can also wait and see report from other users.
Unfortunately, there is no doubt that the conversion of PSE12 catalogs has been omitted. It's not the first time : I also had to wait for LR4 to be able to convert PSE11 files. We may hope that Adobe will acknowledge the fact, and possibly solve the problem for future versions of PSE.
Of course, it's not a priority for Adobe: the ability to convert PSE catalogs is mainly a sales argument to make the jump from the PSE Organizer to LR easier. Not so many cases, and anyway you can always write metadata to files in PSE and import later in LR. After the jump to LR, you rarely have more PSE catalogs to convert.
However, maintaining misleading update notes by Adobe is not a good point in favour of LR. I do consider that the ability for LR to convert PSE catalog was and still is a very smart demonstration of the ability to deal with database organizational systems. I also consider that once that conversion process is mastered, the update process for each new Elements version is not such a big deal.

  • 2 SATA drives - Where should I place my ACRcache, catalog, and images?

Application is on the boot drive.
Where/how should I split up the ACRcache, catalog, and images?
Should I have the catalog on a different drive then the cache?
Should the catalog and cache be on the same drive?

    Why?
    Hi Dorin,
Well basically there are four areas where disk I/O can impact performance. The catalog, previews, images and ACR cache. So with only two drives how do you minimize disk contention during typical LR editing?
Of the four the ACR cache activity is going to be both frequent and be writing large blocks data. Splitting it off first is makes the most sense. Putting it the system disk also makes sense since while running Lightroom that is going to be mostly idle since hopefully you are presumably just running LR.
The catalog is clearly going to have the highest update frequency but data sizes of each will be very small. So keeping it separate from the cache is a good idea.
The previews by default get stored with the catalog and since they are generated in the  back ground with lower priority it is best to leave them where they are.
The image files clearly are best on the second disk. So practically it makes more sense to keep the catalog and images together if for no other reason than backup is simpler. Just clone you image disk every couple of days and you have a complete usable catalog.

    Louie,
So, based on your experience, how would you go about it with a portable (I have a Macbook Pro).  I have the application, catalog and previews on the boot drive, images on an eSATA 2TB RAID 0, ALRCache on another eSATA just straight 1TB - (all 7200 RPM / 32MB cache) via Expresscard 34 (which operates at 1.5)..

  • Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog option is missing

The File Menu/Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog is missing on my version of LR5.  I've followed the suggested procedure to update the preferences files for both Elements 12 and Lightroom 5, but LR5 still does not recognize that I have an existing Elements 12 catalog.  I assume if it did the option would now be available?
This was the instruction I tried:

  • Catalog in transport

I would like to know the significance of a catalog in transport.  I placed all the info objects in a catalog although there were some objects that were assigned to TMP.  I then made this as a priority one (the first one to go to QA) the ODS was in the next transport as its infoobjects were placed in my first transport and it failed.  I know I have done something wrong but unsure as to what.  Can someone help me out with this?
    Thanks,
    RG

    Hi,
There is always an interdependency in transports, you should always follow these steps while you are transporting to some other system..
    Transport always in this order:
    package
    Info Area, Catalog, Application Component
    Infoojects
    Infoprovider
    Transformations
    Data Source
    InfoPackages
    DTPS
    Process Chains
    Reports
This Sequence will always help you.

  • Planning to expose additional APIs... Which ones should be top priority?

    Hi everyone,
We are working on the plans for the next APIs to be exposed for Open Platform, and would like to get your feedback on you will like to see next in terms of APIs. Based on what we heard so far, our priority list for APIs looks like:
    Page Properties Update
    Secure Zones List
    Template Properties Update
Assign web app items to secure zones
    CRM APIs
    List customers
    List companies ???
    List cases
    Customer detail
    Customer Create, Update, Delete
    Order detail
    Order Create, Update, Delete
    Case detail
    Case Create, Update, Delete
    List event bookings
    Event booking Create, Update, Delete
    List Mailing lists
    eCommerce APIs
    List Products
    List Catalogs
    List Discount Codes
    List Gift Vouchers
    Create, Update, Delete Products
    Create, Update, Delete Catalogs
    Create, Update, Delete Discount Codes
    Create, Update, Delete Gift Vouchers
The first 4 have been raised after the first closed release of the APIs, while the rest are the ones currently exposed to SOAP and used to third party systems or even apps. Which ones would you like to see first? Any other APIs which are more important than these ones?
    Thank you,
    Cristinel

Of the current SOAP APIs I think my top five would be:
    - CRM: Order Create, Update, Delete
    - CRM: Event booking Create, Update, Delete
    - Ecom: List products
    - Ecom: Create, Update, Delete Discount Codes
    - Ecom: Create, Update, Delete Gift Vouchers

  • 'Upgrade Photoshop Elements catalog' menu item missing

    Hi,
I have been using PSE for many years and recently upgraded to PSE8 (and PRE8). In addition, I started playing with the LR3 Beta and realized that I wanted to migrate LR from PSE. I just bought LR3 and now want to import my PSE8 catalog into LR3. The Lightroom Help tells me that I should go to File - Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog (while in Library module), but this menu item is not showing up in my Lightroom... Is my LR3 not detecting my PSE8 catalog installation? How can I fix this?
Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

has a DMZ remote site system with MP, DP, SUP and AppCatalog Website Roles to support IBCM clients in the AN forest. The AppCatalog WebService Role is hosted on the primary site servers themselves.
Additionally we support two remote non-trusted forests, CVGH and QH. We have deployed a single DMZ server in each of the remote forests with MP, DP,
SUP and AppCatalog Website Roles to support IBCM clients in the remote forests. (There are also Intranet site systems in the CVGH and QH forests supporting these forests’ clients within the primary sites.)
All certificates are configured correctly. All authentication is working as expected. Clients in remote forests are able to deploy packages/applications/software
updates via Computer Policy and User Policy successfully. Each DMZ server has its own Internet published FQDN and is configured for Internet Only client communication via https.
Clients within the AN forest connected via the IBCM DMZ servers in the AN forest are provided with the correct Internet facing FQDN for their respective site’s Application
Catalog and these FQDNs are successfully inserted into the Trusted Sites Zone. For example, a client in the PR1 site that exists in the AN forest is furnished with the FQDN for that site’s AN DMZ remote site system. This results in the Application Catalog
link in Software Center successfully launching the Application Catalog from the Internet. The user is prompted for credentials from the AN forest and successfully authenticates to the Application Catalog and is able to install software as desired.
Clients within a remote non-trusted forest should be furnished with the FQDN of the remote non-trusted forest’s DMZ site system within the PR1 site for example. A client
in the QH forest which is managed by a DMZ server in the QH forest which is attached to the PR1 site is not, however, furnished with the correct FQDN for the QH forest’s DMZ site system. Instead it receives the FQDN of the AN forest’s DMZ site system. This
results in user’s attempting to launch the Application Catalog from the link in Software Center and being prompted for authentication against the wrong Application Catalog URL (in the wrong forest) and hence against the wrong forest entirely.
If we manually open a browser from a ConfigMgr client computer in the QH forest and open the correct FQDN URL for the QH DMZ site server’s Application Catalog website
instance from the Internet we are prompted to authenticate against the correct (QH) forest and are able to successfully download applications from the Application Catalog.
The issue is that per Technet the QH client should be furnished (or choose I’m not sure) the FQDN of the https: enabled DMZ site server in its forest as its Application
Catalog Website URL according to the rules of Application Catalog Automatic Site Selection (right?). The clients in our remote forests are not being provided with the correct FQDN for their respective forest’s DMZ site system’s Application Catalog roles or
are not updating these FQDNs in the Software Center link to the Application Catalog Website.
I have closely followed this article for troubleshooting:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2012/07/05/tips-and-tricks-for-deploying-the-application-catalog-in-system-center-2012-configuration-manager.aspx
We believe our Default Client Settings are configured correctly as the Application Catalog website configuration is set to auto-detect. There is a higher priority workstation
only Client Settings that has the same auto-detect configuration for the Application Catalog that we believe is configured correctly as well.
We do not believe configuring another Custom Client Setting to hard code a URL for the remote forest would work as it would point Intranet computers to the FQDN for
the Internet DMZ servers when they should be pointed at the Intranet remote site systems for their respective forests.
LocationServices.log and ClientIDManagerStartup.log both fail to indicate any issues that I can identify. Clients are successfully assigned to the correct sites. Clients
are able to communicate with their respective Management Points in the DMZ. No errors are shown in the Application Catalog websites when they are manually accessed by their correct FQDNs.
There are no errors that I have seen in the portal logs for the Application Catalogs. As evidenced by their successful functionality when manually specifying the correct
site system’s FQDN in a browser we have no reason to believe that there is an issue with the Application Catalog websites themselves just the mechanism by which ConfigMgr clients are furnished with the correct FQDN for their forest and DMZ site system.
Again, thank you for your help. Any input is much appreciated.

Spoke to CSS. This is expected behavior FYI.
