Catalyst 3850 - Show Power Inline command doesn't show the 1100WAC Power Supply

Hi,
I have a stack of 4 WS-C3850-24P switches with data and powerstack cables connected. One of the switches has an additional 1100WAC Power Supply in slot B.
When I do a "show env power all" I can see the 5 power supplies:
sh env power all
SW  PID                 Serial#     Status           Sys Pwr  PoE Pwr  Watts
1A  PWR-C1-715WAC       LIT17320CEB  OK              Good     Good     715
1B  Not Present
2A  PWR-C1-715WAC       LIT17320B7Q  OK              Good     Good     715
2B  PWR-C1-1100WAC      LIT17320QUK  OK              Good     Good     1100
3A  PWR-C1-715WAC       DCB1734G15J  OK              Good     Good     715
3B  Not Present
4A  PWR-C1-715WAC       DCB1734G14A  OK              Good     Good     715
4B  Not Present
When I do a "show power inline", it only shows the 715WAC power supplies in slot A of each stack member:
sh pow inline
Module   Available     Used     Remaining
          (Watts)     (Watts)    (Watts)
1           720.0      190.2       529.8
2           720.0      238.2       481.8
3           720.0      214.2       505.8
4           720.0      132.0       588.0
Any idea how this come ?

Maybe it's not powered up?

  • Cisco 3850 Dual Power Supply - One No Response

    Hey Guys,
I am getting multiple switches on my network showing "power supply failure" from Solarwinds.
I am running Cisco 3850s running v 03.02.03.SE cat3k_caa-universalk9 iOS, and they all have dual power supplies. When i do the sh env power, I get this output.
    SWITCH1#sh env power
SW  PID                             Serial#     Status               Sys Pwr  PoE Pwr  Watts
    1A  PWR-C1-715WAC       xxxx           OK                 Good     Good           715
1B  PWR-C1-715WAC       xxxx         No Response   Good     Good           715
    SWITCH2#sh env power
SW  PID                              Serial#     Status           Sys Pwr    PoE Pwr     Watts
    1A  PWR-C1-715WAC       xxxx           OK                   Good     Good          715
1B  PWR-C1-715WAC       xxxx         No Response     Good     Good          715
When I physically go down to look at the switches, they have green lights, so they are receiving power, but I keep getting the PSU failure alerts.
Do you think it is an iOS issue, and should I upgrade? Or has anyone else seen this?

    Hi,
I think below Bug could match with your issue.
"power supply B is not responding" reoccurring on Catalyst switches
    https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCun41735/?reffering_site=dumpcr
And we can see workaround of this issue is HW workaround.
    Thanks,

  • Cisco 3850 Redundant Power Supply Reporting Issue

We have deployed several Cisco 3850's. Several are showing the following symptom
    ont2-tc3-es01#sh env power
SW  PID                 Serial#     Status           Sys Pwr  PoE Pwr  Watts
    1A  PWR-C1-715WAC       DCB1702G0QU  OK              Good     Good     715
    1B  PWR-C1-715WAC       DCB1702G0G6  No Response     Good     Good     715
Every single switch at this particular location has the same status on the B power supply. The problem was there on the previous code level (3.2.2) and we recently upgraded to 3.3.5 to resolve some SNMP bugs on the switches we also expected the latest Assurewave version to fix this issue also. So couple questions:
    1. Anyone else seeing this?
    2. Anyone found a fix for it?
                   Thanks!
                              Marty

    Hi Zabeel,
I did talk with TAC - per the engineer there are two bugs that cause the issue and one was fixed in 3.3.5 - so we upgraded all our 3850's to that code level. Unfortunately for us, that still didn't fix the issue. TAC suggested that it may be fixed in rev 3.7.0, but that has not officially been confirmed by Cisco's developers.
We're waiting for the official "fix" before going through another round of switch upgrades.
TAC did suggest reseating the power supply if you still have the issue after the upgrade to 3.3.5 - but that's not really an option for me since my switches are geographically spread out.

  • Catalyst 2955T-12 Power Supply n IGMP Snooping

    Hello everyone,
I have Two Catalyst 2955T-12 switches, on this switch there are Two Power Supply (DC) options...I want to implement redundant Power Supply solution, can this Two DC Input on Switch will give this solution or I have also external Din Rail power supply...my question is how I can implement redundant power supply so that if one PS of switch fails then automatically other will start?
Also can any body tell me what IGMP snooping do? do I need to configure it? also the command (I need global command as well as port/interface based command)?
    Regards,
    Shahid

For the power redundancy question, I believe this link will help:
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat2950/12122ea2/2955hig/hginstal.htm
Also can any body tell me what IGMP snooping do? do I need to configure it? also the command (I need global command as well as port/interface based command)?
    >>Layer 2 switches can use IGMP snooping to constrain the flooding of multicast traffic by dynamically configuring Layer 2 interfaces so that multicast traffic is forwarded to only those interfaces associated with IP multicast devices. As the name implies, IGMP snooping requires the LAN switch to snoop on the IGMP transmissions between the host and the router and to keep track of multicast groups and member ports. When the switch receives an IGMP report from a host for a particular multicast group, the switch adds the host port number to the forwarding table entry; when it receives an IGMP Leave Group message from a host, it removes the host port from the table entry. It also periodically deletes entries if it does not receive IGMP membership reports from the multicast clients.
The multicast router sends out periodic IGMP general queries to all VLANs. When IGMP snooping is enabled, the switch responds to the router queries with only one join request per MAC multicast group, and the switch creates one entry per VLAN in the Layer 2 forwarding table for each MAC group from which it receives an IGMP join request. All hosts interested in this multicast traffic send join requests and are added to the forwarding table entry.
IGMP Snooping is by default Enabled globally and per VLAN. If for some reason it is not enabled, "ip igmp snooping" at the config mode to enable it.
There is nothing else to configure.

    Hi Reza,
Thank you for your quick reply, and for putting the record staright. As such, a helpful rating was provided
PS: Feel free to help me one more time if you happend to know folllow on this query :)>
I guess that the disributed function has been included in the standard mulitcast routing command because the key word is no longer needed. Or perhaps this platform does not support this at all.#
Once again , thank you for your help above.

  • [solved] who command doesn't show X server session

    Hi there,
shouldn't the `who` command show all logged in user sessions, including my X server session?
However, who only shows my tty1 session:

What is the output of who on your system?

Alright. The point is, what do I need to do in order that who shows my X session?
I tried export DISPLAY=:0 but this doesn't add :0 to the who command listing.
The reason I am asking is that I want to use the following dispatcher script which queries for :0, assuming that who shows the display variable.
    #!/bin/sh
INTERFACE=$1 # The interface which is brought up or down
STATUS=$2 # The new state of the interface

    - If you did not charge the iPod for a couple of hours before you did the reset then charege and reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Then connect to your computer and if iTunes sees the iPod restore via iTunes.
    - Next see if recovery mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so you can restore the iPod. For recovery mode:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    - Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • What can i do to get my phone working. It went to a black screen when I was playing a game. I pressed the power and home button then it showed the apple logo and went back to a black screen. Doesn't came on, show a charging sign, read on iTunes.

    Hello,
Here is the config for Catalyst 3560 found under the link below.

When it was done, it showed the power cord w/an arrow to iTunes.  ***???  I restarted my computer and tried the whole process again and still...the power cord with an arrow to iTunes.  And I know this means I have to go to Apple and get another phone and will lose anything that wasn't backed up. Anyone else have this happen or have a solution so I don't have to do a restore???

    Reboot your computer.
    Disable your antivirus and firewall.
Connect the phone to a USB port directly on your computer, not to a hub. If your computer is not a laptop and has ports on both front and back use a port on the back.
If iTunes does not recognize the phone when you connect it see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If it STILL doesn't work open a command window and type:
       netsh winsock reset
Then try again. (It seems that a recent Microsoft Windows update may have corrupted network settings; this restores them to the factory default).
BTW, was there an error number associated with the failed update?

  • Cisco Catalyst 3850 as ntp master

    Hi All,
I have 2 x Cisco Catalyst 3850 stacked together. What are your recommendations if I use the C3850 as a ntp master for all edge switches connected in my network? All edge switches must be authenticated if it needs NTP sychronization. But other than that, what are the downsides?
    For example,
    1. I heard that switches do not have an internal clock so is a poor device to be a centralized NTP master.
    2. I have also read that switches also have slow CPU processors that may lack the processing required.
    3. Its NTP sychronization will use external NTP servers which are resolved into IP addresses (e.g. pool.ntp.org). IP address can change. What other more reliable NTP sources are there?
    4. Any other thoughts and comments are most welcome.

Firstly, DO NOT use the command "ntp master".  Cisco do not recommend using this commands because this will confuse the NTP propagation inside the network.
Next, all Cisco devices do not have a dedicated clock.  All appliances need to get SNTP/NTP time synch from somewhere.  This "somewhere" could either be a dedicated GPS-based NTP server and/or a time synch somewhere out in the internet.
You can also use the command "ntp update-calendar".  This new command allows appliances to take regular "snapshot" of the time and save it into the NVRAM.  In case there was a reboot or a power failure, the appliance's time is not too far away instead of waiting 5 to 10 minutes for SNTP/NTP to synch.

The C3850 software version is Version 03.03.03SE RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2), and i've tried the Version 03.02.02SE, it's the same result. if the multicast not worked, i can't do the Videostream function demo next step.

if video multicast group is 239.100.1.1, then same group cannot be configured for AP mcast -mcast mode communication.
    Try this:
    config t
    no ap capwap multicast 239.100.1.1
    ap capwap multicast 239.10.10.10

  • Disabling Catalyst 3850 Stack Discovery?

At Cisco Live! 2013 Orlando a mention was made which I understood to mean that by turning off the stacking ports of a Catalyst 3850 the switch would not wait for stack discovery but proceed with the boot sequence (by virtue of knowing the topology i.e. no other switches).
    However, if I issue
switch 1 stack port 1 disable
switch 1 stack port 2 disable
save the config and do a reboot, the switch still sits for a long time just before the stack discovery completion messages, and boots no faster than a default out-of-the-box switch. Did I misunderstand, or is there some other command to tell the switch to not bother with stack discovery?

    Here is a late reply:
    It doesn't disable it completely:
When a stack port is flapping and causing instability in the stack, be careful when using the switch stack-member-number stack port port-number disable privileged EXEC command. When you disable the stack port, the stack operates at half bandwidth.

  • How do I show the output of a command called within a gui script

I'm starting from scratch on a project I've been tasked with.  My intention is a quick down-and-dirty way to apply an image within winPE to apply a windows image to the machine I've booted to a usb drive loaded with winPE.
Here's my start.  It's rough, but, I have to start somewhere.
    [void] [System.Reflection.Assembly]::LoadWithPartialName("System.Windows.Forms")
    [void] [System.Reflection.Assembly]::LoadWithPartialName("System.Drawing")
    $objForm = New-Object System.Windows.Forms.Form
    $objForm.Text = "DISM"
    $objForm.Size = New-Object System.Drawing.Size(600,400)
    $objForm.AutoSizeMode = "GrowAndShrink"
    $objForm.StartPosition = "CenterScreen"
    $objForm.FormBorderStyle = "Fixed3D"
    $objForm.KeyPreview = $True
    Function do_DISM{
    $dism = "dism /apply-image /imagefile:D:\W7x86.wim /index:1 /applydir:C:\"
    Invoke-Expression $dism
    $DISMButton = New-Object System.Windows.Forms.Button
    $DISMButton.BackColor = "ButtonFace"
    $DISMButton.Location = New-Object System.Drawing.Size(12,27)
    $DISMButton.Size = New-Object System.Drawing.Size(120,25)
    $DISMButton.TabIndex = 1
    $DISMButton.Text = “Start DISM”
    $DISMButton.Add_Click({do_DISM})
    $objForm.Controls.Add($DISMButton)
    $objForm.Add_Shown({$objForm.Activate()})
    [void] $objForm.ShowDialog()
Now, this does work, and it will in fact apply the windows image to c:\ which is what I need it to do.  But, I have a few quesitons.
Am I correct to use "Invoke-Expression" in the function do_DISM to start the command?  According to technet's articles, yes, but, want to make sure I'm doing this the proper way, since I'm learning that calling Invoke-Expression isn't always
    the way to do things.
Also, since this will be used by others in my group, I'm going to need to show some sort of progress report on how far along DISM is getting along, otherwise, 5 minutes into DISM running, some people are going to think nothing's happening, and just power
down the computer no matter what I tell them.  I know that running DISM from the command line, it will show a progress bar that is adequate for what I'm needing.  Running the script above and clicking the button, it does run, but, all in the background
with no progress indication.  Is there a way I can tell either in the function or when the function calls Invoke-Expression to run DISM, to open in a new command window which shows the live progress of the command running?
Again, my disclaimer: VERY new to writing bits of code, and am trying my best here, so, thanks in advance for patience with me.

That's exactly what I was looking for!  Thank you!
    Changed code to:
    $dism = "X:\Windows\System32\Cmd.exe /c start CMD /k dism /apply-image /imagefile:D:\W7x86.wim /index:1 /applydir:C:\"
And voila, new window opened with the live output of dism.
new... and have a glazed over look about my eyes to prove it...

  • ASR1001-x clock timezone command doesn't seem to work

    Our client has 2 ASR1001-x routers with IOS-XE sr1001x-universalk9.03.13.02.S.154-3.S2-ext.SPA.bin.
I can configure the clock summer-time:
clock summer-time BE recurring last Sun Mar 2:00 last Sun Oct 3:00
However I can't configure the clock timezone. When I enter the configuration rule "clock timezone BE 1 0" the router doesn't complain but afterwards this configuration rule doesn't appear in the configuration and the clock isn't adapted:
    RT00BDCE1EX1#conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line.  End with CNTL/Z.
    RT00BDCE1EX1(config)#clock timezone BE 1 0
    RT00BDCE1EX1(config)#exit
    RT00BDCE1EX1#sho run | inc clock
clock summer-time BE recurring last Sun Mar 2:00 last Sun Oct 3:00
    RT00BDCE1EX1#sho clo
    11:58:32.032 BE Thu Apr 23 2015
    RT00BDCE1EX1#
NTP is configured and is working properly:

Is this a bug ? Is there a new way to configure the right timezone? Thanks in advance.
    Best regards
    Mike

After a long search I found a configuration that worked:
    clock timezone UTC 1 0
clock summer-time UTC+2 recurring last Sun Mar 2:00 last Sun Oct 3:00
    RT00BDCE1EX1#sho clo
    09:13:47.967 UTC+2 Wed Apr 29 2015
The only issue is that we can't show the timezone in the loggings or the debuggings because in winter time it will be UTC which is not correct (must be UTC+1).
